All County Home Inspections completed an inspection of my home. I am a senior citizen, and was concerned about this inspection. Joe performed a comprehensive inspection of my attic and basement. Throughout the entire time, he was professional and very respectful of me and my home. He explained every step he was taking, and walked me through all areas of concern. I can't recommend this business enough! We noticed some mold up in the attic and gave them a call, they explained the process for NY(as we are new to the state) and quickly set up an appointment for the inspection. They had Dave come out and he was professional, efficient, and very helpful in pointing us in the right direction of a few reputable mold remediation companies in the area. We are trying to buy a house and Terry from All County met us at the property with our showing agent to do a "pre-offer consultation" - something we never heard of before. Since the housing market in Rochester, NY is so crazy right now, most buyers are waiving house inspections in their offers (which is terrifying to us!) and this option was a nice middle path that gave us peace of mind. Terry was extremely knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and pointed out several things throughout our walkthrough that we never would have noticed on our own. I contacted ACHI on their web site and no one got back to me for over a week so I called by phone and made an appointment for the next week. On the day of the appointment, I waited for over a half hour and no one showed up. I called ACHI and the person who answered didn't know anything about my appointment and when I told him it had been a woman's voice they handed the phone to Terry. Terry told me that she forgot to save my appt. because she was doing 10 things at once. At the next appt., Terry showed up and explained that she would be looking at what was done at my first home inspection and that she had reviewed the text and pictures taken then. We went into my basement and I asked her what she thought of my basement insulation. Terry took a fast look at one spot and said it was adequate. I asked her if she knew what kind of insulation it was and she didn't know. I pointed out many bare spots on the cement basement wall with no spray foam and multiple uneven areas from 1/4 inch to 2 inches. I told her that if she doesn't know what she is looking at then I don't need her to do my home inspection. Terry went to her car and called Mike and then returned and said that by looking at the pictures from my first home inspection that I had closed cell spray foam on my walls and the pictures showed that it was adequate. I told Terry that I didn't have closed cell spray foam on my basement walls at the first home inspection and showed her pictures of the fiberglas covered with white plastic on my basement walls. I told Terry that she could leave because I didn't need this kind of misinformation. ( she didn't know what kind of insulation I had and even with prior pictures she claimed to have reviewed, she didn't know that I now had closed cell insulation and then she informed me that it was adequate because of prior pictures). Mike called me back to tell me that I was rude, condescending, obnoxious , etc.. and they will NEVER do business with me again!!! Mike told me the closed spray cell foam she was referring to was only around pipes. We were not near any pipes and it wasn't part of the conversation. Mike made me feel that it was really bad of me to ask Terry to look at my current insulation. I could only ask Terry to look at "original" insulation that wasn't there anymore. I told Mike that when he calmed down that I would try to talk to him but he was so intent on "giving me a piece of his mind" that he refused to talk to me at a later time . He irately ended our call by saying he will NEVER do business with me again and hung up! I'm sorry but I paid for 2 home inspections and I want someone doing my home inspection who knows everything about home inspections and basement insulation is part of a home inspection. I was never informed that the second home inspection that I paid for was limited to only what was originally there. Mike gave me a real hard time that i would even ask Terry to look at insulation that had been changed and they should have been made aware of it before I scheduled the home inspection. WOW! I contacted ACHI shortly after I made an offer on a home, as I knew the sellers wanted a 3-day inspection window. Mike Reed was very accommodating and agreed to do the home inspection right away. Mike counseled me each step of the way, reminding me that it is wise to add a camera inspection of the chimney for a wood burning fireplace which he was able to do. I received his report less than an hour after the inspection was completed. His report was thorough and Mike called shortly afterward to go over the report and counsel me on what each item represented, pointing out anything that should be addressed ASAP. Mike was also very COVID-aware and took necessary steps to change shoes and wipe down all surfaces touched. He also offers further consultation free of charge for as long as you own the home, which is fantastic. I absolutely recommend ACHI and Mike Reed's crew if you are considering a home purchase and need an inspection. True pros! read more
