I didn't know anything about All Square besides it was a grilled cheese cafe and I love grilled cheese. The inside was a little weird with the fake walls and mirrors everywhere, and I was surprised to learn it was focused on convict rehabilitation as a mission. The workers seemed nice though you could get a sense that this isn't what they wanted to do with their life, but just someplace they ended up but I'm sure their grateful for something since the US tends to punish anyone with jail in their background far longer than their sentence ever was. They didn't seem to have a lot of food service experience so the food came out a little slower than I'd usually expect and we did have to ask for my Coke twice, and the cashier was using her headphones which felt a little off, but nothing I'd really complain about. I went with the Croquette ($8), a side of tomato soup ($3), and a Coke ($2). The sandwich was great with ham and dijon mustard and it came with a little side salad with vinaigrette. The soup was a chunkier tomato soup with basil and cream, also really great and perfect for dipping. The food was all very well priced for what you get. I'd certainly come back to try one of the other types of sandwiches! read more

I attended All Square's grand opening yesterday and I was so very impressed with their grilled cheese sandwiches! There was a special menu for the event so I was able to try a few sandwiches in one sampler. I really enjoyed the jalapeño/cheese and the brie/apple/ pecan sandwich! The place is small not much for seating so beware as this place is busy . They specialize in grilled cheese sandwiches of many varieties and offer soup and fries as sides also ala cart . I got the pulled pork and fries . It didn't overwhelm me but was decent and I love concept and what they support in regards to helping formerly incarcerated individuals and helping the community. The staff is absolutely wonderful and such a fun concept and menu to bring to the neighborhood. Def something different and worth trying . read more

We live in the neighborhood and it's our first time in. Relaxing atmosphere with lots of natural light. Food was delicious, made with good quality ingredients, and the menu is inventive. This is a cozy spot with a friendly open kitchen, and nice little patio on sunny days. Who knew that they also have two Bent Paddle beers on tap? I've had a few of the sandwiches, including the apple pecan, but their take on the B-L-T is off the chain! I love talking to the people working there, who are also incredibly starting their own businesses- and one guy is heading off to law school. I love seeing the community vibe, where people realize we're all part of one society- whether we're in prison, been in prison, or never were. On the other side of the building is a rental space, video projector, screen, sound system- so its cool to rent out for private events, meetings, and looks perfect for a poetry slam or art exhibition. Smack on the main avenue, next to a little park, helping others; what more could they do? Oh- AND its affordable eats! I'm sitting at their bar counter writing this, and it feels like a good spot to post up and get some work done. (back to it...) read more

For a restaurant that opened less than a week ago, I would give it a big thumbs up!! The comments of the 2 women below I feel are unfair. When you go to a new restaurant on the 1st or 2nd day after opening, there a kinks that are still being worked out. I went yesterday & I ordered right away. They brought the beverages quickly & the delicious food followed within about 10-15 minutes. That to me is grand service! Everyone was friendly, helpful, joyous & kind. I would encourage those women to try it again in a month. You can't beat the mission & lovely Emily, the owner is warm & ready to talk to you if she's around! The food is great if you're willing to wait for a little disorganization to actually get your food. Great idea for a restaurant but the saying "too many cooks in the kitchen" is this place to a T. It took us 45 minutes to get our food and we sat patiently and watched the disorganization unfold in front of us as numerous patrons walked up complaining of 35 minute plus waits. A simple fix, the chef needs to lead the kitchen. There's not a good flow from grill to plate. When you pass sandwiches over to the next station to the two prepping plates to go out, you need to communicate what you're giving them. The rest of the kitchen has no idea what's going on or what needs to be getting refilled because the cooks are not communicating and running they're kitchen. They're chillin with headphones making great grilled cheese. Simple fix and most of your bad reviews will go away because the food really is great. read more

This review is long overdue, but I had just gone again and I needed to find some time to create another review. I had been waiting months for this place to open and I had gone the day it opened! But my most recent visit was a few days ago so I'll focus on that. For the food, I've only had a couple grilled cheeses (though on opening I had the sampler pack), but the most recent time I went to a classic that I just can't get enough of: the Back 2 BAC. It's definitely the kind of American comfort food that you could only get there. Along with that, my girlfriend is very much a fan of the apple brie pecan, more of a fan of sweet than savory. That said, the pricing can be a tad higher than I had expected (average price of a sandwich will be 9ish dollars, costing extra for a side of fries/soup). Obviously everyone wants more for their dollar, but the price is only a small put off. Hopefully if all square does read this, one suggestion I have would be to increase the portion of the sides (along with the price if they needed to). Aside from the food, what they are doing is an amazing thing. They help those previously incarcerated reenter society by giving them jobs at their establishment. Any support I give them through the purchases I make here I know I'm helping others and getting great food as well. read more

A new place on the town, All Square provides a modern twist on the classic grilled cheese. Bright lights and a friendly staff makes for an enjoyable dinner. However, the lack of sanitation, the lack of cohesive service, and the unprofessionalism of staff takes away from this new trendy restaurant. One meal was delivered then 15 minutes after the first meal was delivered, we were still waiting for the second. With a clear view into the kitchen, we saw as our second sandwich slowly was consumed by the staff!:( We has to inform then that there was a misunderstanding. They were very kind about it, but it definitely worsened our experience. Nonetheless, the prison rehabilitation idea is super cool and love to support good causes. read more

A friend and I had a solid lunch at All Square today. We both got the crunch n punch and shared a side of fries. The woman who took our orders was efficient and both orders arrived in under ten minutes. The sandwiches were tasty AF and appropriately sized given the US's affinity for waste and excessive calories. The place was super busy which is why we evacuated our table and retired to a coffee shop so others could appreciate the food and mission. I'll be back. read more
