Love blue door pub and the blucy! I decided to change it up this time and get the boneless wings and honestly they were decent. Personally I felt like there was a lot of breading on them and the dry rub did kinda dry my mouth out so maybe just needed to dunk in more ranch or swap in bone-in or sauce based wings next time I'm here. Otherwise the service was great and we were there watching some football and the ambiance is great for that as well. read more

I have been coming here for years and it has easily always been and still is our favorite place. I cannot speak highly enough about the Longfellow location, the staff, and most importantly the food! The restaurant itself is so chill, we come after Vikings games, late nights, or a casual lunch. Deep fried pickles and 12/10, cheese curds equally amazing with the best ranch. I do love the fried green beans but sometimes they can be a bit too greasy. The main item we get is the make it a jiffy burger but substitute with grilled chicken and wow it is just perfect every time. Fries are so crunchy and delicious. We got here around 1:15 on a Saturday, it wasn't too busy and we got seated right away. We ordered our drinks and they came pretty fast, then we put an order for apps and they came pretty fast too. After we were mostly done with our appetizer, we put in an order for two burgers. We were wondering why it was kind of taking a long time but just chalked it up to them being lucy's and so it might take a little while, our waitress came by about 20 minutes into us, waiting for our burgers and told us that she forgot to submit the order and had us re-order our food... the we waited another 20 minutes at least for our food to come out. Usually, we have a great experience at blue door, but today was just not that great at all hence the three stars, if the service would be, we're better it would definitely be four stars or maybe five. This neighborhood burger restaurant is wonderful. Went with a friend and Mr. G. Comfortable, not too loud, and excellent food. I had the bucy of the day, which was the Ergy Burgy. My friend had a burger with tots, as did Mr. G. Huge portions. I have left over gravy and fries to make poutine for breakfast. The gravy was delicious. What is great about the food is it's real and made fresh to order. Definitely not reheated in a microwave. Service was speedy and the environment relaxed. We were all so hungry when we got to this cute little restaurant/bar that everything sounded delicious! We over-ordered and ended up taking some of the apps home. Deep fried green beans, pickles, and jalapeño poppers were all really good, albeit quite greasy and heavy. We each ordered a different burger. Mine was a blucy with blue cheese inside. Cooked just right and I asked for it with a lettuce wrap, which made it pretty easy to eat. Most of our party enjoyed their selection. While I miss the OG Blue Door, this place is just as good! Way less cramped inside than the original, but the food and beer selection are just as great! I'll always recommend the Jiffy Burger and I always get it with the green bean fries and ranch, but the tots and fries are both great here as well. If you're afraid of peanut butter on a burger I get it, but you wont understand until you try it!!! Service is pretty normal here, nothing crazy good, nothing bad. I've been to a few Blue Door Pubs already, but this was my first time visiting their Longfellow location. I felt bad because we were a party of 7 that arrived 20 minutes before they closed. You can tell they were ready to get the hell out of there. They still took us in, provided us exceptional friendly service, and most important phenomenal food. We started off with their cheese curds and I ordered their Mount Blucuvious burger. It's my favorite burger from here and it's amazing. It comes with a house made 5 pepper cheese mix, fried avocado, spicy bacon and cilantro-lime sauce. Such a delicious burgers all the ingredient just work so perfect together. This is probably one of my favorites places to visit in Minneapolis. I can definitely see myself returning here literally every time I'm in Minneapolis. read more

Good burgers, great wings, and an excellent local beer selection. I fell in love with the Blue Door Pub 13 years ago when there was only one location on Selby Ave. in St. Paul. Still sad that location was closed! The burgers and Blucy's (their name for a Juicy Lucy) are always good. My favorite is the Cease and Desist. Think of the flavors of a Big Mac with the cheese stuffed in the patty. I dream about this burger! I love the option of the deep fried green beans. Get them! If you prefer fries they make a good fry as well. The Blue Door might be know for their burgers and sandwiches but they make my favorite wings in the Twin Cities. With a great flavor selection, picking a favorite isn't easy but I order the 'Rican Rub wings more than any other flavor. I prefer a dry rub wing and they do them very well at Blue Door! My one complaint is that they have taken off so many great menu item's. I miss the Spam bites and the Bangkok Blucy. These were items that made them the pub that was featured on Diners, Drive In's, and Dives. Sad to see them go away from what them great. I was excited that my local pub finally started serving gluten free buns. I had had some decent lucys but on my last visit there was pretty much no cheese inside (or outside) the burger. I flagged down a waitress to comment on it and I was pretty much brushed aside. "sometimes you just cant see it". Not impressed. It has been almost 9 years from the last time I tried a Blucy, and on my return to the Twin Cities the first thing I needed to eat what just that. I loved the a classic Blucy on first visit. And now, after trying the BOM Ergy Burgy Blucy I fell in love with this place all over again. It was difficult to choose a burger...they all sounded amazing. BOM Ergy Burgy Blucy with its lingon Berry, bacon, aioli and sharp cheddar oozing out of the patty sounded like a wild combination and it was amazing. Fun pub atmosphere but very clean and well kept. It is very kid friendly with a cute kid meal that comes on a tray! High chairs are provided. Lots of variety in seating including booths. The service was fast and servers were sweet and attentive. The food was great. We got a Bluesy burger for the first time. It was the monthly special, and would have liked a little bit more "cheesy" on the inside. The cheese was more mixed with the patty. It still tasted great though! Large hole in table. Poor service, bad communication. Upcharge for adult eating kids meal. We ordered two adult meals and two kids meals, and my son was throwing a fit about how he wanted spicy cheese in his burger so we switched plates and I ate the regular cheese burger, so they charged me an extra $5 because an adult ate the kids meal. In addition, on Wednesdays is supposed to be half of kids meals with an adult entree and they didn't mention it or take it if our bill. I noticed the advertisement on a sign near the restroom on my way out, and when I asked about it they said they didn't offer it...because and adult was eating one of the kids meals. read more

The welcome was odd and it seemed like they stuck us in the back room when there was plenty of space in the main area, without asking our preference. It worked fine because we were hoping to have a space to catch up with friends from out of town. The menu had shockingly small print. Like actually horrible even for me. The drink menu was even smaller print. It was laughable, must have been a mistake. Service was quick, especially for drinks -- our beers came out within 2 minutes of ordering which was impressive. I'm sorry to say our server however was downright annoying and unaware. We would have over half our beer left and she'd interrupt us to ask how we were doing on drinks... it wasn't like they were anywhere near empty. We had a BOM: Ergy Burgy Blucy (sharp white cheddar・house pickles・warm spice aioli・lingonberry jam・beef gravy), the Cease & Desist (not a Big Mac, because this tastes great) and a Blucy - blue cheese, garlic and side pickle (I added fried onions) We also ordered tots, fries, and fried green beans. The kids got a burger with applesauce and a grilled chees with raw vegies. Kids stuff was real food, not some frozen stuff. And they have milk in short glasses with lids. The burgers were all great. Juicy as a Lucy should be. Fries - fresh cut. Green Beans were as good as onion rings. The Tots...well, they were hot. That was my only "meh" of the meal. We are on a burger trek: Trying burgers from 13 different Twin Cities restaurants. Our review: the Blucy did not have enough cheese, the Pattie's for the cheeseburgers were nicely flavored and perfectly cooked medium. Not sure if the buns (which tasted great) re not thick enough, but I had to eat my cheeseburger open-faced because the bottom side of the bun disintegrated. We all liked the Cajun fries and thought the tater tots were flavorless. The regular fries were fine. The kids meal rilled cheese was great! Also nice we're the fried green beans - yummy! read more

I consider Blue Door to be the quintessential neighborhood burger spot. They do burgers and wings extremely well. The ingredients are fresh. The burgers have their classics, adventurous, and they even switch up the menu periodically to keep the 'regulars' guessing. One thing that is EXTREMELY underrated is their deep-fried offerings. The deep-fried pickles and the deep-fried green beans are near perfect. Uncompromised fresh bright green green bean (you like that, lol) enveloped by a thin batter that mitigates the undesirable satisfaction of deep-fried foods. The pickles might be my favorite though! The burgers are delicious, but maybe TOO flavorful. The Blucy is amazing but the bleu cheese and garlic are too prominent for my liking. The price point is $12-14 for an incredible burger and tots! Came here for a double date. We got seated right away and you order on your phone and it's easy to split the bill. Cheese curds - airy and tastes mostly like oil. Not really seasoned Bacon Blucy - this what pretty well done, so not very juicy. I think you can get a better juicy Lucy elsewhere. I have been to Blue Door quite a few times at this point for happy hour, trivia, entertaining out of town friends, and all the like! I don't love that none of their signature burgers come with fries/tots despite being ~$10. A rounded out meal ultimately ends up costing about $15 per person before tip which I feel like is pushing it for quality. The cooking of my burgers has historically been kind of inconsistent, but the toppings are always great!! ALSO- my favorite part of blue door is honestly that you can get tots tossed in wing sauces/rubs. A happy hour must! Definitely prefer this as a happy hour appetizer spot to a full dinner. My biggest two positives are that parking is always reasonable, and they are pricing their to-go beers/ciders/seltzers SUPER reasonably right now (during COVID take out). Hamm's is only $1 for reference, so definitely worth considering adding to your order! read more

I tend to frequent the Lyn-Lake location (hopefully it reopens soon) or the Como one when I'm by the U, but I always enjoyed the Longfellow location of Blue Door as well. They have outstanding bar food (creative burgers, tots, underrated wings, etc), great service, and a really solid beer list (with late night happy hour). Easily 5 stars in all of those aspects. Unfortunately, there is one thing that they don't do well (especially in winter time): To go orders. I ordered something to-go tonight for dinner and arrived a few minutes early. No big deal usually, right? Wrong. The issue here is that people wanting to-go orders must stand outside waiting for their food at a pickup window from servers who are running all around a busy restaurant. It stinks for us to have wait outside when it was 23 degrees outside (16 degrees with the windchill) and then for the servers dressed in t-shirts to constantly have to open/close a window to give the to-go orders. When I was there, there was a single guy, a father with two children, and myself all waiting out there for food. Overall, an outstanding spot that I will continually frequent regularly to dine in, but will likely be getting food elsewhere if grabbing grub to take home. read more

Woof. Ordered a chicken sandwich that had the inedible, stringy kind of chicken. Had probably 1-2 good bites. We've all had that kind of chicken, and it is disgusting. $15 for the sandwich. Wendy's has better quality chicken by a mile. We sat outside and the setting was nice. Good service. Miller Lite bottles probably $6-7? Pretty standard unfortunately these days. I have been a fan of Blue Door Pub since they opened up their very first restaurant in Saint Paul on Selby Avenue! I love this location, not only because it's three minutes from my house but I like the sidewalk patio and the interior is much roomier than the Saint Paul original. The staff here is always fun and service is great!! tonight I stuck with the basics. I had a Bacon Juicy Lucy with Tator Tots! I love tater tot's and they just don't taste the same when you make them at home! I'm a sauce girl so the variety of dipping sauces always makes me smile! They are super Covid safe with Germ X right on the tables, self ordering right from your device, and masked and gloved servers!! What a great gateway to the upcoming weekend! I eat meat maybe, MAYBE once a month, and that's when I'm feeling wild. I came here today with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday, and since neither of us were too insanely hungry we decided we'd split a burger and tater tots. He chose to order the Islander, which is a blucy with muenster cheese, habanero garlic aioli, Jamaican-style pulled pork, pepper jack cheese and pineapple mango salsa. Again, I eat meat maybe once a month, and this thing? I swear I could eat it every day and each time I'd repeatedly mumble "dear god this is amazing" under my breath like I did today. Sweet and spicy, and SO messy. The pineapple mango salsa isn't just salsa - it's big, warm chunks of pineapples and mangoes seasoned and cooked to perfection. The garlic aioli was perfect, and the pulled pork (which I thought was a replacement for the burger, but was actually just a topping ON the burger) really sent me over the edge. I was so sad when this burger was gone. Honestly, it's the best dinner I've had in the city so far. I want to live in an igloo made out of Islander burgers. The location is sort of weird, but I really enjoyed it. Street parking, in the middle of a neighborhood, and very quiet. They use a website for all of their orders, which was the most contactless dining/customer service experience I've had since COVID. It was so convenient! We've been frequenting the longfellow location more lately. You do have to wait to be seated, then scan the menu and order from your phone. Servers will bring your food and drinks. This does make ordering quick but it can seem less personable for some. But of course, everyone is low staffed so businesses need to be creative in how they staff so I don't hold this against them. My husband ordered the fish fry the last time and he enjoyed it. There was quite a bit of breading on there. Usually we go with the burgers and you can select various options online to make it what you want. Since I'm pregnant, I do get my burgers well done. I'm excited to go back to not having to check this box but it's nice to know that you can request it if needed or wanted. Obviously I think the burgers taste better not well done but it's still very good! When picking sides like fries or tots - this does cost extra. However, they give you a lot! Usually only my husband or I order the extra side with our food and it's plenty for both of us to share. One of my favorites is the Longfellow blucy. It's made with goat cheese which is a more digestive friendly option for me than the other cheese options. We've had good luck with finding street parking nearby and getting seated rather quickly.
