Stopped for an early lunch (11:00) on a Tuesday. The patio only had a handful of people seated around and the place overall was not busy which was great for us. We were promptly seated outside to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and day. Service was a little slow but we didn't care, we were not in any sort of hurry. We ordered a bowl of Lobster Bisque which was super flavorful absolutely fantastic. We also had the Blackened fish tacos. The two tacos had generous portions of fresh ingredients and the dish was perfectly spiced. The rice was good and charro beans were ok but not really my thing. Unbeatable happy hour on their beautiful patio, and breakfast is served til 3pm in case you had a late start to your day.

I come here occasionally and have never left dissatisfied. The food is all very fresh and flavorful! The eggs benny is really good! They used shaved ham instead of a ham patty which is full of flavor! Service is quick although they are always generally busy! I've been here on a date, with family and with friends. I don't venture out often for breakfast because I have my regular spots but Longfellow grill pleasantly surprised me! You can definitely tell it's scratch cooked food and what a great breakfast experience. The coffee was incredible and I loved the big mugs. I had a taste for something warm and savory so I decided to try their chicken wild rice soup with bacon and it was SO GOOD! Creamy, decadent, and fulfilling. Perfect way to start the early afternoon. The pumpkin pancakes were yummy but a bit too dense and fluffy for me. I prefer a crispy thin pancake. The hash browns with onions and peppers was by far my favorite! Huge portion, everything was seasoned well, and our coffee kept us warm and cozy. Our server was so sweet and attentive. And the restaurant just feels like such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Had such a lovely night on Longfellow with my family. We were celebrating my son's graduation. Our server was amazing - salt of the earth kind of person. Made the evening so wonderful. Growing up I had pierogis and have never found a restaurant that had them, so I was very excited to have this meal. The horseradish sauce was amazing with the meal. I've been here 10x. The good? Prime location. Ive never had to wait long to get seated here, in groups of 2-8, even without a reservation- they dont seem to accept them. For this reason, 3 stars instead of 2. So when your friends move to or live in St Paul, and youre scared to cross the Mississippi, you could meet them here. You could take turns crossing the bridge to meet and eat with said friends, and alternate between Highland Grill (sister establishment). The AM happy hour is cute, makes me feel seen. The beverage menu is decent and varied. The meh? Food/flavor + portion vs price. Flaccid fries. Sigh. Recently the kitchen whipped up some Asian marinated wings for me. I am "Asian". I did not order Asian wings; I would not order Asian things at a ... place of uhhhm unmarked culture. The flavor of burnt soy sauce is a special kind of punishment, and I probably deserved a little punishment that day. The staff earnestly tried to repair this mishap and bring me what I had ordered/wanted: buffalo wings. Earnestly and... Profusely and... Uncomfortably. Note to menu writer: Maybe the menu description is at fault here for its ambiguity. Neither marinade bore any resemblance to franks+butter so Im not sure how the word "buffalo" and the word "or" operate in this item. Or maybe "minnesota spicy" is at fault here for ruining wings with worse-than-ketchup weak sauce. Alas. I have had better experiences here in the past and Im sure I will have better experiences here to come. Because Longfellow Grill is so lovely in its location- for those dear friends, I would even pay to eat this food. Can't believe for how often I go here that I've never left a review! We enjoy coming here for any meal of the day. They serve great breakfast, wonderful happy hour, and terrific dinners. I really wish they would bring back the beef stroganoff - it was my favorite! The meatloaf takes a good second though. Lots of local taps and festive drinks available. Great place for elevated comfort food. My friend and I had great service and food on a weekday evening. Walleye shrimp slider - 5/5. The slaw and capers on the slider were a great complement to the walleye shrimp cake. Brussels sprouts - 2/5. Had obviously been boiled first then deep fried later. The insides were bland and watery and most of the outlet leaves came off. Flavor was dine but couldn't overcome the squishy texture and lack of flavor of the center of the sprouts. Steak and pierogies - 4.5/5. Steak was tender and pierogis were perfectly crisp on the outside. The Asian-ish sauce on the steak didn't work for the dish, but great otherwise. I say every time I am going to try something else but I sit down in front of the menu and order steak and perogies again and again. my only issue with the modern telling of this dish is that I had to ask for a side of the horsradish cream more than the little dabble under the perogies. We started with an order of cheese curds for the table. Holy smokes -- I haven't had a ton of cheese curds in my life, but these blew the ones I have had out of the water. The breading was light which added a crispy coating but allowed the flavorful cheese inside to take center stage. I very easily could have eaten an entire plate, but I knew I had an entree on the way. For said entree, I went with the basic cheeseburger, but it was anything but basic. The meat was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of pink. The seasoning amplified the beefy flavor and was complemented by the American cheese. The side of sweet potato fries were delicious. They were cooked perfectly -- crispy yet soft on the inside, so the sweet potato flavor was very present. The chipotle peanut pesto aioli that accompanied the fries had such a unique flavor and texture. I expected it to be a relatively standard chipotle-infused aioli, but it was so much more. It had an almost grainy texture like a stone-ground mustard or hummus and was accentuated but the notes of peanuts and pesto. It was one of the most unique-tasting dips I've ever had. The service was fantastic and I liked the casual atmosphere inside. I would definitely return to explore more of the menu. read more

After we had to give up a planned nearby non bike friendly restaurant, we found this place to be super bike friendly and wrapped up a group long ride with full satisfaction in our tummies! I am amazed by the presentation and the number of healthy choices here. I'm active so would always like to eat hearty food without low quality calories. I really love the spinach frittata I tried. It's fresh and yummy, not greasy at all. The Brie and jam had a nice touch unlike elsewhere overpowering density usually kill the overall taste. The breakfast burrito is ginormous and enticing! Even I didn't get it this time, I want to have it after my next 50 mile ride. There seem a lot more food and drinks to explore here. Calling all the foodie/bike riders, you may easily leave your bike on their lawn and enjoy your nice meal next to the Mississippi River. This is one of our favorite breakfast spots. Anything we have ordered is absolutely delicious. There are indoor and outdoor options. Lots of seating. You can make a reservation online as well which we recommend for weekend mornings. There is a parking lot attached to the building but it fills up quickly. There is an option for cauliflower rice to substitute rice for a healthier option- highly recommended and still tastes great! Waited about 5 minutes for a table, and got a great shady spot outside. Friendly and quick service, good wine and beer selections, and a lot of food options to satisfy all tastes in our party. Lobster bisque was amazing! Recommend a cup as it is very rich and the bowl was just a lot for one person. The tuna salad was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the portion was quite large. Even though the Nashville Chicken Sandwich excuses itself of not having too mucus kick ("MN-nice"), it's still enough to feel even for a spice-lover like myself. The chicken and seasoning melt together leaving the bun to soak it up so that you want every last bite. Large patio make this an excellent choice for Al fresco dining even during peak hours (:20-25 wait tops). Great service as well that's both quick and friendly. Parking is usually easy enough along Lake St but they make biking easy with multiple bike racks. read more

I have visited LFG 3 times now, ordering drinks and appetizers as a treat on my way home from work. Buffalo cauliflower and cheese curds, meh. Queso dip a little better. Blood Orange Seltzer should be drained down the sink. Best thing I ordered? Very icy cold refill after refill of Diet Pepsi. Location is VERY NICE on the patio, especially along the outside railing, where you can watch the birds in the trees overhead and the bustle of traffic around you. Try it out.
