I went with a group of 5 for dinner so we got quite a few dishes, most of which were really dazzling. As a table we got the special appetizer whipped feta drizzled with honey and fluffy pita bread, crispy cauliflower, coconut curry hummus, charred eggplant, seared sea scallops, duck fat fries, lamb sausage pizza, and steak frites. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dishes they got & shared except for the steak which was over cooked for medium; still edible, but not worth $55. Including 3 drinks and a soda our total came out to $230 which is pretty steep but the quality and quantity of the food I think justifies it (except for the steak). I personally loved the scallops and whipped feta dishes, they were scrumptious. Someone correct me if I'm wrong). The breakfast sandwich is also stellar. Service wise, this place has been great 9 times out of 10. I had a long wait for food once on a weekend, but oh well. Following that review I was contacted by the GM and offered a chance to return with a complimentary gift card. Today,I finally returned to use said gift card and to enjoy a nice neighborhood brunch with my family. Contrary to my previous visit we were pleasantly welcomed and led right to our table. Our server Austin was relaxed but attentive and wasn't afraid to give his opinion on the brunch menu (which is always welcomed by me). It was also lovely to see that the staff had become more diverse since my first visit there. Service this time around felt more like a team working together to ensure a great experience is had by all. And Billie who appeared to be a manager was a breath of fresh air and stepped in when Austin was busy with the other tables in our seating area. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food but agreed we would want it seasoned more generously. I picked the breakfast sandwich. I love a good breakfast sandwich (my favorite). Unfortunately this one failed. The bread it came on was like soggy French toast, way over buttery. The pesto was tasteless, and the tomato jam was way too sweet and overpowered the sandwich flavor. The arugula was mushy soggy because of too much butter and jam. I ended up trying to scrape everything off and just eat the egg and bacon. Better luck next time, but do give it a try. There's many more items on the menu. I will try again, maybe happy hour. Drinks are always on tap, plus Lynette has a full coffee bar for their breakfast folks, so they have real espresso for those who want to indulge in an espressy martini for dinner (or lunch). Service is great and getting in early gives you the option to belly up at the bar, which is always entertaining and good people watching. We ate with friends at Lynette. They'd eaten at Lynette a few times before and thought we would like it. They were right. We had a very enjoyable and VERY delicious meal. Our friends told us the space has been through a few iterations -- night spot, coffee place, etc. The interior was very casual but classy, the bar was very nice and inviting. Overall I liked the space quite a lot. Street parking was plentiful around the restaurant (and free!) We had: -Spicy boy mocktail (hubby said it was good) -carrots -- served with some really tasty stuff and really delicous -cauliflower (we chose korean bbq)... this was AWESOME. crispy on the outside, tender inside and flavorful -Ceasar -- nice and fresh and crispy -Beef tartare -- my personal favorite. served with a raw egg yolk and absolutely delicious. When we return, I will probably get this all for myself. -burger with egg - a very tasty burger served on a nice big bun. It was honestly a little messy not because of the egg but because of the copious amount of sauce on it. The burger kind of had trouble staying in the bun. I was somewhat disappointed that they broke the yolk for me and it came to the table with runny yolk already congealing on my plate. -Ribeye steak - so so yummy. So generous in serving size. I will admit, I had ordering envy. I think this is really the standout entre. -Our friends had the rabbit bolognese and the short rib, both of which looked amazing (but I did not sample either) -Soft serve ice cream for dessert, which is a super fun throwback kind of way to end the meal. Really fun. Our server was excellent and took good care of us. Staff circulated and made sure everyone had everything they needed. The only thing I found kind of odd was that they brought our vegetables first as appetizers basically and our mains after. I wish they'd asked our preference. Lynette truly feels like a restaurant where locals come to grab a bite. People of all ages, dressed in all different attire, blend seamlessly together to make this new-ish Minneapolis spot as diverse as its food. I love the cozy booths with personal lamps, the tiled floor that gives cafeteria vibes but in a nostalgic way, and the big, bold bar from which the rest of the restaurant seems to draw energy. Our waitress was spectacular and by the time we finished our meal, there was a cluster of hungry humans awaiting our departure. The drinks: I stick with red wine, but if I had to recommend a cocktail, it would undoubtably be the Gucci. It's slightly herby yet smokey from the mezcal, and definitely liquor forward. The small plates: get the roasted sweet potato dish; do not be turned off by the combination of apples and coconut curry puree. I would honestly order this as a main. The sweet potatoes are tender medallions coated in this rich curry sauce with bright pops of flavor from the apples. The roasted broccoli was also a table favorite; it's cooked until just crispy and then piled on this creamy blue cheese concoction, too small for a main but perfect to share. The mains: I made the mistake of ordering pizza. I have my favorite pizzas around the cities (Rosalia, Young Joni, Station Pizza, Sanjusan, Boludo) and not that the lamb pizza was bad, but it was bland and tasted like a straight forward sausage pizza, crust lacking flavor. The burger, on the other hand, was fantastic. Two smash patties with American cheese and dijonnaise, simple and elegant, just as any good burger should be. I did not try the scallops but were told they were "maybe the best I've had" by one of my dining partners. High praise, given that they typically order scallops anytime they appear on the menu. Overall, Lynette seems to have its mind set on being a neighborhood restaurant, something I think it has almost already achieved. The veggie dishes and drinks are stars. I really enjoyed my meal at Lynette! I went with two girlfriends and we tried the cauliflower, hummus & pita, mussels, crab Rangoon pizza, carrots, and pork ravioli. The surprising favorite was the crispy cauliflower! Can't go wrong with fried food I guess, but the flavors of the entire dish were on point. The hummus and warm pita was also super good. Ravioli was quite tasty, surprisingly it was a vegetarian ravioli with slices of pork belly on the side. The mussels were a little disappointing, not from an execution or freshness standpoint, but I didn't love the sauce they came with (it was tomato based) and we agreed we would have preferred a classic French style with lemon, white wine, etc. The pizza was good but not great-- probably would try a different flavor next time. The service was really kind and the space itself is large and airy, it was easy to have conversations and didn't feel too crowded on a Tuesday night.
