Had a very complicated situation where I had to replace my water heater but the home builders did not leave enough clearance to remove it since the the A/C and heater combo was in the way. It was the hottest day of the year at about 110 degrees, and of course, our AC unit went down. Called Henry who was too swamped to come out that weekend on last minute notice, which was understandable given the heat. But he called me back promptly to let me know his availability. Within a couple days, Henry was looking at my 30+ year old AC unit. He gave sincere, honest advice on whether to repair or replace. He correctly diagnosed that the compressor had gone bad, and by installing one of his parts, he was able to "jump start" the AC unit back to life. I'm so disappointed with the service provided by All Start Air conditioning. They worked 40mn and charged me $300, $90 labor and $200 for a hardstart which actually cost $15 brand new! Called them a few times on the next days, they didn't answer my calls. Then I left a voice message, they called me back and said that's standard practice to charge $200 for a piece that cost $10 or $15. Can you believe that? 14x the actual price! For more context, I called these guys because my A/C was no longer cooling the house. They came same day (even when I told them I was not in a hurry), looked into my A/C and proceeded to changing my capacitor and adding a hard-start, without telling me what cost that will be. Then the guy said that he actually didn't need to change the capacitor and put the original back. I'm glad he did, because they will have probably charged me 500+ $. Said my compressor might die anytime, even when my A/C is 6 years old. Said the configuration of my A/C disconnect is wrong, but didn't fixed (they will need to come another time and fix it for $300)... Today, I had an electrician come change my A/C disconnect for only $150. I don't recommend this company to anyone. Stay away, they will charge so much without getting the work done. read more

This company has been our 'go to' for all of our A/C repairs. We knew our A/C needed to be replaced but we kept putting it off. We finally decided to replace the unit. Hubby was curious to see how much the big box store would charge for the same exact work. They quoted us 32k. Yes ladies and gentlemen, $32,000 U.S. DOLLARS. The quote from Henry was much less... by more than half. Because the very poor airflow with the current unit, we thought the ducts needed some work, possibly replaced. Unbeknownst to us, the builders installed a 4 ton unit instead of a 5 ton unit. Henry explained to us that with the size of the house, they should have installed a 5 ton unit. What made the airflow worse was that the furnace was a 5 ton unit. The furnace and A/C go hand-in-hand and should always be the same size. Henry recommended installing the new units and see if the airflow is better. In fact he was certain it would be better. He could have worked on the ducts and charged us. We would have never known. These guys are honest, courteous, communicate well, have done a great job anytime we've had them come out, and they cleanup like they were never there. read more

long story short -- These guys are great! Our furnace went down last winter and I found this company after some research online. Initial reason I went with them was because they charge a very competitive price for diagnostics. Michael and his colleague showed up (I'm so sorry that I didn't catch the 2nd gentleman's name...!), quickly identified the cause of the issue, and fixed it in no time. Luckily that it was a minor problem and we only needed to switch out some old/broken wiring; yet Michael still managed to get a further discounted invoice for us, really appreciate that! Fast forward to today, a set of our AC unit went down. Called Michael on a Wednesday and grabbed the soonest slot that's 5 days later (on Monday) due to their full booking caused by the high demand in these hot days. Regardless how every company would want business, Michael kindly suggested me that if the weather gets too hot that I cannot endure, he can reserve the appointment for us still meanwhile I can call around to see if anyone can take us sooner. Definitely appreciates his thoughtfulness being willing to think from a customer's stance. Though I already expressed that we'd prefer to stick with them and I'm willing to wait until Monday for our scheduled appointment, Michael gave us a courtesy phonecall on Friday saying that he could get to us 2 days sooner. Again, aside from his professionalism, we really appreciate how he CARES about the customers! We just got the AC unit diagnosed today and luckily it was again just some minor issues with the breaker/voltage transmission. Problem was resolved quickly and I also received lots of good suggestions from the professional aspect in terms of operation & maintenance. In the end, I was surprised by a $0 balance service charge although they made a special trip to our house afterall, and was here doing their jobs for nearly 1.5hrs (They offer a 1-year free diagnostic plan for their customers). I used this service based upon the several positive reviews. These reviews are accurate. My 17-year-old AC stopped working. Called them on a Friday afternoon and got scheduled for an appointment on Tuesday morning. They called on Monday saying they could come earlier if it suited me, which it did! They found the problem within 5 minutes (capacitor) and fixed it. They then educated me on the laws about the type of coolant used by my older model and explained all of the pro's / con's of re-charging the system. I opted to have them re-charge the system and the cool air temp came down from 61 degrees to 54 degrees. These guys are great. Use them!! read more

He came out, took a look and told us he would email us an estimate for our repair. It's now Saturday, still no estimate, so I text him to see what's up? No answer. So I call him around 10am and he answers. Says there must of been a mix up and he will send it out this evening. It's now 7pm and nothing. I just text him to let him know dont worry we will be going with someone else. My guess, our job was a fairly big job and he was scared. I called in the middle of a heat wave and in the midst of Covid. All Star AC & Heating were very responsive and told me that I could secure an appointment in 36 hours, but that they would try to fit me in earlier if at all possible. They stayed in contact and gave me two opportunities to move things up when appointments wrapped up quicker than expected. They were wearing the proper gear, very friendly, very respectful of my carpet and living space, and very friendly. It's been less than 10 hours since I called and my house is inhabitable again! If there were 10 stars Henry would deserve it. My story: I got suckered in by a $49 Furnace/AC teaser rate by One Hour. They had bought my neighbors business so I gave them a shot. So I called One Hour and the lady gave me a great quote i.e. $49 and ALL that it covered. I asked her what they charged for freon for R22 and she kept "trying to find it". Little did she know I had done some home work. I told her "there better not be any surprises". Sure enough the 2 technicians started to look at the AC units first and said "before we start we need to let you know the cost of R22 would be $218 a pound. I told them "THERE IS THE SURPRISE" and told them to please leave my property. I should have known better and went to Yelp for referrals and that's where I found Henry.
