The first time I had my AC installed I was not on Yelp. But it is ok because it was done by Pelayo's!!! It was a great job and our family was very happy with the great pricing, quick turnaround time on appointments and installs. Fast forward 3 years... My dog made it his mission to make the AC compressor/fan in my backyard HIS. From doing this and through my neglect and ignorance the dogs urinating caused my whole unit to have to be replaced!!! I needed to get a an HVAC inspection for a home I am in escrow on. I call Pelayo's, after reading many good reviews. I spoke to the receptionist, stating that I needed an inspection for a home I was purchasing. She said yes, we can do that for you and the charge will be $169. We scheduled the appointment for the following Monday. Due to Covid-19, non-occupants are required to fill out the PEAD form if they are going inside. I called her Monday, several hours before the appointment, asking her to sign the paperwork. She said she didn't not have the time to read the paperwork and that we should just cancel the appointment. I was confused, so I explained to her that the form takes less than 30 seconds to sign. She then says that she made the appointment with me and not my real estate agent, so we need to just cancel the appointment. Again, dumb fo This was absolutely the weirdest customer service experience I've ever had. Also, extremely inconvenient for me as my inspection period ends the following day. So I had to scramble to find an HVAC person that could come out on short notice. Thankfully, Solano Heating and Air came to the rescue. Not only did they come out on short notice, but they charged me $50 less. I will be purchasing a new heating and air conditioner system from Solano heating and air, not Pelayo's. ***Renee reached out to me, and apologized which is why I changed my rating. In the middle of the heatwave that all of Northern California was going through, our AC stopped working. I called as many companies as I could in the area, and no one could come out for at least a week because of the high demand for AC repairs. I contacted Pelayo's and explained my situation to Renee (that my wife would be at home alone with a newborn and 3yr old, and no AC). She recommended scheduling an appointment for the following week, but she would do everything she could to move me up if possible. A couple hours later, Renee called me to let me know she was able to move the appointment up by 3 days. A few hours after that, she called again to let me know that she was able to fit us in the schedule the very next day! Nothing better than great customer service! During this awful heat wave our AC Stopped working. I had heard Pelayo's was great so we gave them a call. They answered the phone at 8:30 at night, gave us an appointment within 48 hours, ended up changing the appointment to a sooner day and time. Woke up to a very cold house the day after christmas. It was 64 degrees and we were unable to get the heater to come on. Went on "Nextdoor and Yelp" to read reviews for HVAC companies. Pelayo's was recommended on "Nextdoor" with five star reviews on "Yelp". Called and was scheduled an appointment that afternoon. Dave (the owner) arrived as scheduled. He was very professional and friendly. He immediately went to work finding the problem, fixing the problem and giving us "how to use" instructions. All within a 30 minute time frame. Dave came to fix my furnace which is located in my attic. The attic fee alone was $99. He replaced a fuse, which cost an extra $100. All together this fix took 10-15 min. My wife who was home at the time let Dave know, before the furnace stopped working completely, that there was a prior problem with the furnace only working intermittently. Dave said the problem was fixed completely, which was false. Our furnace still turns on intermittently. I understand he fixed the main issue, but not the entire problem. When my wife called back to address this issue with Dave. He told her that she didn't mention the problem to him at the time, which was a lie. Because it was one of the main issues that she brought up. My main complaint is: If you're gonna charge somebody $199 for a 15 min furnace repair make sure that the furnace is 100% fixed. read more

I'd give them 2 stars because they were helpful over the phone but I'll stick with 1 for being misled and for a job incomplete. They were nice and spoke to us after hours and gave us ideas on what the problem was before we set an appointment. That's where they would've got 2 star. Unfortunately they were not as thorough in person and fixed our problem only partially. Dave came 2-5 mins before the end of the appt. window they set and was in a hurry to get out. After he replaced a part ($100) which took 5 mins, I told him about the continuing issue of our heater not consistently turning on (how it'll sound like it's attempting but then shuts off completely). He said it was a quick fix of changing the filter. I asked if it was that simple insisting he check other parts of the heater system because although the heater turned on (since he replaced a blown fuse) it didn't mean the problem of it working intermittently was fixed. Dave was in a hurry to leave and said replace the filter and everything will be fixed. Currently, our heater can stop working dropping our house temp to 65 whilst set at 72 degrees. This is far from fixed. I've called requesting he come back, willing to pay for my repairs but asking that they waive another visit fee ($99) since their prior job and repair was incomplete. They've ultimately said they will not waive the fee because they have a "business to maintain". I understand there's a business here to maintain but is it a GOOD business? Well a good business that has integrity, guarantees their work, wants to build rapport, and wants continued customers; that good business can back their work and maintain customers. This business did just the opposite. They lost a business of $$ on repairs I would have paid to fully fix my heater system, just because they didn't want to waive a fee that shouldn't even be placed since it was a continuation of the original problem and their prior visit. Their assistance via phone was good but aside from that, I am dissatisfied with their work and will not be a future customer. read more

Had a leak/clog in the furnace/AC unit in the garage, and with the heat it seems like everybody was busy since the closest appt I could get was at least a week out. I usually base my choices with new companies on reviews and took a chance with Pelayo's. On Monday evening, Renee was able to make me an appt for Wednesday between noon and one (OMG, 1 hour window!) and Dave was totally on time. He knew exactly what was wrong and I had a call pretty much the moment he got there to let me know the problem and the cost (which was extremely reasonable). Credit card was taken over the phone and work was done quickly and efficiently. In addition, our tenant who was at the house felt very comfortable having him there, which is sometimes hard for her :) We will definitely be calling them for our future HVAC needs. My 30 year old a/c unit went out recently - the assesment was $$ to fix the busted motor (and still have a 30 year old unit) or replace the entire unit and save monthly on our utility bill. We opted for the new unit - we lucked out and Dave got us on his schedule the next day! My elderly parents who live in Leisure Town had their air-conditioner go out on a Sunday morning. A neighbor told them about Pelayo's and they called. Unfortunately they couldn't come out until Monday so mom and dad were just going to deal with the heat. A few hours later the owner called and said they had had a cancellation and was it okay if they came that day (which was a Sunday). They showed up at the time they said they would, fixed the air conditioning for around $200 and didn't try to gouge my parents. I think this is exceptional customer service and I will be sure to call them should I ever need service. It's hot outside and so is this company! Pelayo's Heating and Air Conditioning is as good as it gets. An honest and dependable service provider that doesn't take advantage of the situation when you need them most. I shopped around and found so many good reviews I just had to call. It was the best solution and I am glad I did it. I called, they asked all sorts of information pertaining to my unit, and set a date. The date came, Dave was right on time, and ready. I had an old Trane AC unit outside from the 80's that finally died. Dave found a new Guardian (Yorx, Johnson Controls http://www.guardianhomecomfort.com/about-us.aspx), that was compatible to my ancient GE Ambassador Mark II Furnace blower unit, and brought it out. Wow! what a difference that unit made. I asked Dave about replacing my old furnace and blower unit and he stated "use it till it stops! no need to replace it if it isn't broken" That's good honest advice for a working stiff like me. He said "keep it clean, change the filter, and it may last another 10 years." Dave replaced my electrical fuse panel with new hoses, wiring, and cleaned up the old copper piping, charged it, and it blew extremely cold air. After he cleaned up and took the old unit, all the materials were picked up and left much better than when he arrived. He came inside and used a thermal gun to measure the temperature blowing out the vent and it was closer than the average which he stated was excellent. Great service! I highly recommend Dave. He has a small operation and that equates to possible all hours service. I will always call Dave now when I run into AC trouble. Some of the reviews here seem pretty petty and critical of a small business man who runs an honest company. I got 4 AC quotes from local "mainstream" including the "Bell Ringers"and they all wanted over $3-4K just for the unit, or they gave some story that due to compatibility I had to replace the whole system (10K and 12K). I knew better. Dave knows the area, and knows what works and what doesn't when it comes to compatibility. The receptionist over the phone was extremely nice, was able to find us an appointment the same day and had a technician available to fix our AC later that afternoon. The technician, however, appeared rushed. He quickly addressed that my AC needed a recharge but also a leak was present. He refused to investigate where the leak was coming from as he stated "its a needle in a haystack" and did not want to go to the attic to assess. I agreed to the recharge and received an invoice that was illegible for my records. I was left with a leaking line set and an expensive bill. read more

My a/c stopped blowing cool air on a Monday night after a 100+ degree day. Ouch. I called Pelayo's after 11 pm and someone answered! The lady was helpful over the phone and found a way to squeeze me in for the following day. The appointment was between 10 and 11 am. Dave showed up between 1030 and 1045. He instantly diagnosed the problem-- a blown capacitor-- and had it removed. He showed me the piece he removed and explained why it was broken. It was very obviously misshapen and looked kind of dangerous really. He had the replacement part on his truck (apparently this problem is common) and was able to repair it in about 10 minutes. My a/c was up and running again with minimal hassle for $300 total. Maybe there are places you could get the part cheaper, but the convenience of having it over with in one trip is worth a little extra cash to me. read more
