This is simply a description of how my request for service from HVAC Masters went. I called on a Wednesday, and Thursday I had a tech on site assessing my situation (one room not getting enough AC). So far, so good. The tech, who seemed knowledgeable, told me I'd have a quote the next day, Friday. Very good. I didn't receive the estimate, so I called in and they informed me that they were waiting for a supplier response, and that'd it would be Monday when I'd get my quote. That's fine, I'm patient. I waited till Friday (4 days later), still nothing, and called in again, leaving a message that i'm expecting their quote. Now 10 days later and nothing but silence and no estimate. Good service? I needed my AC unit disconnected for a concrete pour and we needed it asap due to when the cement trucks were scheduled to arrive. HVAC masters were the only company of 6 contacted that would accept the job and guarantee the disconnect in time for the concrete pour. In the end, they ended up finding a bad quick-disconnect fuse and replaced that and reconnected the unit on time and still came in less expensive than the other company that put in a bid for the job (but couldn't guarantee an on-time disconnect.) 5 stars. read more

They came out same day to give us a quote for the new system and also took it one extra step and were able to repair the existing unit to get us out of the heat for significantly less money. You know the story....turn heater on for the first time in months, only to find that it is making an awful sound, which can't ever be good. So I am reading reviews of local HVAC repair companies and come across HVAC Masters. I see that 9/10 reviews are 5 star and comments raving about the service they provide. Of course I call them, mid day Thursday. Fred scheduled an appointment for the next day. He was prompt and within time-frame he scheduled me for. He communicated everything needed to repair and why, in a way I could understand. He got part needed this morning, called me to advise and he came out this morning to repair our furnace. In all I would say this was the least painful (financially and stress-wise) service call our house has ever needed. Stellar service!!! We turned on our air conditioning for the first time since last summer and got a blast of warm air. Great. I call HVAC Masters because they are in Vacaville and have great reviews. I am very happy we did. The technician, Fred, was able to check out our system the very same day. Unfortunately, he found that our system was 100% empty of freon. He was able to come back the next morning, find the leak that the previous owner of our house had tried to fix with duck tape (wth?) and get cool air blasting through our house within a few hours. What I especially appreciated was his honesty and straightforwardness in diagnosing, he did not give us any surprises and explained everything fully, very professional. It's very refreshing to cross paths with a business that displays excellent customer service paired with a strong moral compass. Fred at HVAC masters has earned my business when I was caught in the middle of a typical summer heatwave and an AC unit that wasn't cooling down my house at all. My AC has been on the fritz for a while, and I've dealt with multiple HVAC companies who've reported to me that the whole system needs to be replaced, or simply to recharge my system with coolant (which was only a temporary band-aid fix). All of these conclusions were a result of absolutely NO troubleshooting and was frustrating to hear. Enter HVAC masters. Fred came by and was willing to troubleshoot my system. I ended up having to replace the evaporator coil in my attic, as that is where the source of the coolant leak was. Fred even provided pictures to validate his recommended fix. This was MUCH appreciated as it showed proof of where the trouble was a that he was not blindly recommending random fixes. After HVAC Masters was done with their fix, my AC has been performing like a champ! The whole process from start to finish was effortless as Fred kept me in the loop throughout the whole process and consulted with me to collaboratively work towards a resolution for my AC woes. Our AC unit went out on Friday, August 12. Needless to say, going out before the weekend and normal business hours for other places, we were definitely in a pickle. However, HVAC Masters came out on Saturday morning and inspected our AC. Fred showed up and was thorough, professional and communicated each step of the process. Fred explained that the motor was the issue and unfortunately, he could not check with the parts stores until Monday. Monday arrived, and he called to let me know that the retail part would cost fifty percent of the value to replace the whole AC unit. So, he recommended that it would not be wise to use a retail part and use an after-market factory part to save us money. Fred came to our house to pick up the motor on Tuesday so he could fit the part once it was ordered. The part arrived on Wednesday and Fred replaced the motor on Thursday, August 16. While we were out of air conditioning during a hot week in Vacaville, Fred let us know every step of the way what the status was of our AC unit. The company is quick to get out. 5 hours from when I called they were there. They get 1 star because two guys were sent to do a 15-minute job. I pointed out to the technician what was wrong and what needed to be replaced so all he really had to do was test it and then put in a new one. The whole installation took less than 5 minutes but I was charged $225 for a $15 part. Not sure how much labor is for a technician but I'm pretty sure it's not $210 every 15 minutes. Good work but your pricing needs to be less crooked. Please take the time to look up any part price that they are going to install online before they do it so you know exactly how badly you're going to get ripped off. Bottom line, if you need it fast and don't care about the cost, you'll be fine here read more

I had my HVAC replaced by a different company three years ago and had nothing but trouble every spring when it got hot. I found Fred and HVAC maters last fall and they fixed everything. I have been nice and cool all summer. Yesterday I noticed water pouring out of the unit in the garage. I mopped it up but found another puddle this morning. Called Fred and he showed up within 2 hours. He took one look and told me my drain pipe was clogged. Ten minutes later he had used a snake to clear it out. I called this company on Thursday, June 22, 2017 and talked to someone (no name was given), the person said they could be there, on that day, between 5 and 7 p.m. Fred came out at 7 p.m., had to smoke a cigarette, first. He explained things to me and decided it was the capacitor. While he was here, the air started barely coming in, but then, again NO AIR, so I called him right back only to get the answering machine. I called 3 times in all and I haven't called back and it is Monday, June 26!!! I was happy that he was able to come out the same day I called the first time, but then, NOT to call back when what he did, DID NOT correct the problem!? He's lost points in my book. Here it is in the middle of a Heat Wave! I know that they are most likely busy, but I had to spend two nights at my daughter's (thankful for that) and thought I would have to spend ANOTHER night inconveniencing them, but luckily a breeze picked up and I was able to survive, without sweat pouring down my face and body, with ALL the windows to my house open. I will call someone else! I suppose I am, now, out my $190 I paid for a capacitor, which although I may have needed one right after Fred left the inside heater was making a screeching noise, like something going out! Although, Fred is a personable man, he should have been able to tell me that the motor was ceasing up! There was NO AIR, right after he left!!! He never returned my frantic phone calls when I called to tell him the capacitor didn't solve the problem and the next day, I called another company who found that the motor was frozen; therefore dead! Not happy and hope he will refund my money, which would be the right thing to do. He can have the capacitor back! read more

I was expecting more based on the stellar Yelp feedback. I sent on online request to the company so that I could get a bid on an AC installation. I was expecting to meet a representative at the rental so they could look at what the installation would entail in order to provide a more accurate estimate as a few competitors were doing. Instead, a representative called me while I was driving and threw out some numbers and options to me. I explained to him that it was difficult for me to grasp everything he was telling me while I was driving and requested that he email me all the information. After he confirmed that he had the right email address, we ended the call. I never received an email from the company or a follow up phone call. Wow! Fred is AMAZING! Our Carrier unit decided to die on us and I called the company the previous homeowners had left us. Despite being Carrier certified, I was less than confident in the diagnosis he gave, not to mention the $5K in repairs he suggested. I called HVAC Masters, and reached Fred who came out ridiculously fast. He spent over an hour trying to diagnose the problem and came up with what made logically more sense. Fred not only refused payment until it was fixed, but kept me informed on the part we needed as he ordered and received it. Fred came to install the new part, but had some issues getting the system back up. I expected him to quit. He didn't. He wouldn't. He worked for almost 2 hours to figure out what was going on. He fixed it! And refused to charge anything more than the nominal labor fee he originally quoted me. The next day, it broke again. I sent Fred a text and despite being on vacation, he responded immediately. In the mean time, he narrowed it down to a potential short in the wire, which he had already suggested may have caused the part to fail initially. When Fred came back, immediately after his vacation, he found the problem...a GIANT rat had chewed the exterior wires. Fred not only fixed that (we caught the rat, he fixed the wires), but again refused payment for his work. Fred is a true gem. He is professional, timely, communicative and persistent . We had to push, beg and finally force him to take money for the service he offered. We will never call anyone but Fred again and you shouldn't either. read more

I called HVAC Masters, and set up an appointment for a service check. Fred was right on time. I gave him the symptoms I'd noticed. He did his diagnostic work and took the time to explain what led him to his diagnosis. No major repairs needed. No attempt to sell me more than what was necessary. "Mr. C, here's what I see, here's what I think we should do." Bang. Done. You could hang meat in here, now. And...my AC is quiet. No more back-pedal of the scrolls from the compressor. These guys are awesome! We have had the to the house twice now to repair the air condition our puppy chewed up. Both times they were up front with us about the price and very speedy on the repair. Fred has been our technician both visits and he's been great. We've had one other company, Bonney, come out for a repair and they overcharged us and told us he had to repair the fuse and wiring for which they charged 6 times as much as HVAC!! I called HVAC masters and amazingly they answered the phone. Most subcontractors have an answering machine and only answer when they check messages at end of the day. Within 2 hours of my call Fred showed up. I told Fred I would like a written list of solutions for my problem (capacitor/fan motor) through new AC unit. Fred gave me an education on HVAC which was for me in laymen terms understandable, no BS and to the heart of the matter. I spent the next day doing diligence getting more prices and listening to others mostly wanting to sell me the "top of the line" new complete system.
