Ah, Harbor Freight, or as I now call it, the Bermuda Triangle of BS. If you're looking for a place…read moreto spend hard-earned money on flimsy tools and get treated like a nuisance for expecting them to, you know, function, look no further. Let me set the scene. I walk in, holding an electric chainsaw that has all the structural integrity of a screen door. It leaks oil like a sieve, a steady, greasy reminder of my poor purchasing decisions. Surely, I thought, a business that sells tools for a living (and has "Quality Tools" emblazoned across their sign like some sort of cruel inside joke) would recognize that a "chainsaw that hemorrhages oil" falls somewhere short of acceptable. Silly me. Instead of a refund or even a coherent sentence, I got a customer service ping-pong match between apathetic employees who looked deeply inconvenienced by my existence. First, a cashier who responded to my request with a shrug that could win a gold medal in indifference. Then I was passed to a "manager" whose primary skillset appears to be blaming "corporate" for everything from defective merchandise to his own personality flaws. "We can't do anything. Corporate policy." Ah, yes. The sacred Corporate. The all-powerful, faceless entity invoked to avoid responsibility. Maybe I should've brought the chainsaw to Corporate's doorstep? Better chance of a refund, and they might even have someone there who knows how to speak to customers without such open contempt. In summary: If you enjoy buying junk tools, getting the runaround, and being treated like an inconvenience instead of a customer, this place is paradise. Otherwise, shop literally anywhere else, or better yet, forge your own tools from raw iron ore. It'll be faster, cheaper, and you'll be treated better by wild animals than you will by this staff. Congratulations, Harbor Freight! You've mastered the art of selling garbage and dodging accountability, a true achievement in modern retail.

Today I feel as though I have been ripped off by your business. I bought a Yard/Ton Of arena sand…read more Apparently you sell it by the ton rather than by the yard because if you wet it down in the evening the excess moisture around the pile evaporates by the time you open in the morning. I drive my truck on to the scale the guy loading me only dumped 1/2 the 1 yard bucket before leaving to top off the bucket only to again dump 1/2 the bucket in my truck. I get back home to remove the sand from my truck by backing up fast and slamming on the brakes to get the sand to start sliding out the back the sand has soo much water in it that nothing moved. I go back to Earthworks and talk to the assistant manager about this and ask for 10% off my bill and he tells me that all other suppliers in the area sell sand by weight not volume and he's not going to help me. Well since I'm up losing sleep over this and letting you know before I call the Arizona Department of weights and measures this morning at 8AM. It wasn't a big purchase Hell I had you guys deliver all my driveway rock for my property. After this I will never go back there for anything.

This place seems so great and I was really excited to buy lots of fun things- a $75 mirror,…read moreornament, earrings, a print, cactus nail file, probably more because I love turquoise and colors...but I sat down on a bench by a koi pond for a minute (ironically, to check in on yelp and see why so many one star reviews for a place full of good stuff). An employee who I now also assume is Eva from other reviews came outside and told me she was locking that door so I had to come inside. The mirror I really wanted was outside of that door though and I was confused because it was close to 5 but they close at 5:30 pm. I asked her if she could wait to lock the door but no- they close some sections earlier and apparently that couldn't wait. I left without buying any of the things and will spend my money somewhere that people don't chase me out. I have worked in customer service and in a tourist place and it often sucks. I didn't and don't expect smiles and friendliness, but at a bare minimum need to not be locked out of the area of a store 30 minutes before closing. There are a number of signs indicating it's easy to transgress their rules and get yelled at or ejected...so weird how very unfriendly the people at a shop with so many great things could be. Ps don't even think about trying to use the restroom if not a paying customer- you have to buy something and then the other lady will grudgingly hand over some toilet paper. Dang! I went in so happy and left so annoyed.

Since it was at an actual store versus a private party I decided to drive on up and take a look. I'm glad that I did. Peter was super helpful and after looking around the store I ended up purchasing the stove from the ad. I also picked up a couch and a fantastic hardcover book to add to my collection. I didn't have my truck so I made arrangements to come back in a couple of days. When I made it back up, Peter helped me load everything up and couldn't have been nicer. He also gave me a great recommendation for a place to grab some lunch! The store isn't your usual junk shop and they have a lot of stuff you can use in your daily life, not just collectibles and things to catch dust. Their prices really impressed me too. Everything was reasonably priced especially when compared to prices in the valley. I told Peter I would be back and will keep an eye out for future ads.
