This company is incompetent at best, and dangerous at worst. They charged $178 to switch out my capacitor - which they switched for a larger size than the manufacturer's recommended size. They also wired it incorrectly. They then replaced a fuse (which now I understand they probably blew out with the larger Capacitor) - and tried to charge me an additional $178 after the fact when they replaced it. My air condition unit then started to sound like a jet engine was taking off. Given I had zero confidence in this company, I called another HVAC company who has taken pictures of the incorrect wiring, incorrect sized capacitor, AND I WILL BE contacting the better business bureau. From what I understand, this could have blown out the motor in my unit. They should be ashamed of this type of work. read more

Highly recommend This company. This was the FOURTH company we had out to try and properly diagnose an issue with our 5 year old trane system. Within 20 minutes of being at our house, the technician they sent out (Danny) had the problem diagnosed and it was determined that we had a short in our wiring from T stat, Furnace & Condenser. After the 3 other companies we had advised us we needed a new capacitor, board in furnace, and/ or a new nest thermostat.... Danny diagnosed the REAL issue. We were able to get an electrician onsite shortly after Danny left who required the system and All Year Heating & Cooling was back onsite to ensure we were good to go. And just like that a month and a half long diagnostics mystery was solved and repaired in less than 24 hours. Thanks Danny & All Year for the great experience. read more

All Year sold us expensive extended labor warranties when they installed our systems, but they would not honor the warranties when service was required. The technician told us that the warranties were void because "the systems had not been maintained." When asked for details, the technician said that the outside condenser coils were dirty, and we should have bought their (expensive) maintenance program to clean the coils twice a year. He offered to clean the coils for $4000, and tried repeatedly to sell me the maintenance program. The faulty part was a fan motor that had nothing to do with the condenser coils, and the parts were covered by Trane under their warranty. Since All Year refused to honor the labor warranty they sold me, I was charged over $400 for an hour of labor. I will not be doing any more business with All Year. read more

We had these guys install an entire system, over $13,000 worth of work, inside and out. That was a couple of years ago. At the time, the family that owned the business was great. The business changed owners in 2021, and we recently started having problems with the AC not working. One guy came out, charged us nearly $100 to reset the system. He mentioned that "if you're going to have a high dollar computerized compressor and thermostat, you have to expect some trouble... lots of software, hardware etc." I just bought what they recommended. Weather was cold, so when we finally started using it again, same problem. Another guy came out, reset it again, wanted to charge another $90 but I pitched a fit. I was curious why that was their solution and it seemed like neither of them really knew what the problem was. Apparently there's a lot of employee turnover here... not a good sign. I trusted his judgement. System died again, we called first thing this morning, got an answering service, we never got a call . $13,000 and we're living in a sauna. This system has crapped out a few times since installation and each tech has no friggin clue. The old Carrier unit lasted 15 years with no problems. If you feel like having a really pretty non functioning high dollar green box on the side of your house, by all means call these guys. If you don't want to sleep with the windows open in 90 degree heat, call somebody else. read more

I've been a customer for over 10 years for our geothermal system that was installed by this company. Our compressor froze and a tech arrived a week ago to give me the verdict. He said he would provide a quote. After calling back several times to the office, they finally informed me they no longer worked on my Bosch system. I lost a week in the process with no progress on the issue. They did refer me to another tech company, but the communication has been very poor. I know ownership has changed but the bugs need to be worked out for service. read more

I hired All Year Cooling to change ducts in my house. The crew was good and the price was reasonable. I also had the same company build me a new air handler box and also was happy with it until my drain line which runs through the box began to leak. I called All Year Cooling and they replaced the insulation in the box and re-routed my drain line so it does not go through my air handler box. I discussed the problem with the office and they told me that they would cover the cost of re-insulation and re-routing the drain line. To me, their Customer Service is great. One of our AC condensers went out last week. I called several companies to provide estimates. Susan from All Year came out and gave us an estimate. After getting the quote I realized she didn't provide the Trane model #s. I wanted these so I could make sure I was fairly comparing the quotes (eg, don't want to compare apples to oranges). In my opinion, the reviews here on Yelp for the folks at All Year are unfairly biased toward the low end. Working from a recommendation from a former colleague, I had All-Year bid for a total HVAC replacement on our 20+ year-old system. Unlike the other bids, the owner of the company actually came to the home to measure every room, and conducted a thorough interview with me regarding our heating and cooling habits. Once that was done, his associate Susan worked up a detailed quote (more of a four-page letter, actually) that included a range of options as well as pointing out that the city was offering major rebates we'd be wise to take advantage of before they expired, including one that practically pays for the entire cost of sealing your house with additional insulation and weatherstripping on doors and windows. Once we selected All-Year as our contractor, Susan worked directly with me and with the city to ensure that our house would qualify for all the rebates. The install itself went smoothly (for the most part) and the one issue that we encountered (a separated plenum) was resolved via a late-evening re-routing of one of their techs to come out and take care of it. Susan has also been great about staying in contact, either via email or phone on the nights before the install and inspection appointments. She is not difficult to reach, and is a real pleasure to work with. We have two Nest thermostats, and after Susan listened to my raving about them every chance I got, she talked to the management and it looks like they're set up to be a certified Nest installer now as well. So even better. The system itself has been up and running for a little over two months now, with both heating and cooling. While it's been a cool spring (so far) and we haven't seen dramatic reductions in cooling bills (since it's not really been on much), we are sure that the new system and the weather-proofing will be a good investment in the long run. In the end, I trust that All Year will stand behind their installation and will be there if and when we need them for service. I never had any issues at all with any customer service, and in fact felt All Year did more than necessary to help me feel we made the right choice in contractors. Had 2 units installed a few years apart. First unit just required repairs after 8 or 9 years due to a faulty part which seemed reasonable. Second unit was poorly installed where I can't put in a pleated air filter without bending the crap out of it. On 2 different occasions when a tech came out (from All Year, I might add), they stated that this is definitely their fault and that they'd see about getting it corrected. Tried 5+ times to talk to someone about scheduling an appointment to have them fix it. Won't return my phone calls. Sorry that I gave them my business. read more

Beware! We had an issue and they sent out a tech. He said there basically the entire system needed to be replaced - $15,000. He said systems normally only last 10 years. I said I needed to think about it - that's a lot of money. The tech then started texting and calling me, trying to get me to set up an appointment for the next day to install the new system. I then started getting texts saying my appointment had been scheduled - for the same day. Red flags! So I called a friend who had worked with them - and he said STAY AWAY - the company has fallen apart, they have been bought and sold a couple of times in the last few years. He then recommended a different company. They came out and said the problem was minor, a small leak, we didn't need a new coil or a total new system, said I easily had another ten years. System repaired in a few hours for $450. Bottom line: All Year is grifting, scam, not the company they used to be. Stay away. ;( read more

I went through Home Depot and I guess this is the company the store sub-contracts with. The sales rep (Susan, I think) was friendly and shot me straight. I decided to replace the entire HVAC and take advantage of City of Austin rebates and tax credits. The entire system should set me back about 2800.00 when all is said and done, but boy-howdy is it worth it. Immediately when the new A/C fired up it was a HUGE difference. The sound of air rushing through the vents had never sounded this powerful before. The house is now easily kept a very comfortable 74 degrees. Susan (the sales rep) said my electric bills could drop as much as 25%. Well, she was wrong. My electric bill for May and June were each cut by more than 50%. What a good feeling to pay a $120.00 electric bill versus $260.00! Granted we have a cooler summer, but no doubt the more efficient HVAC is making a difference too. They were quick with my papwerwork and very helpful getting me in touch with the City to check on my rebate, which I received within a month. Honestly, I was skeptical at first since since I'd never heard of the company (and I'm kinda demanding sometimes), but now I'm a fan! Thank you to all at All Year Heating and Cooling!! read more

I will always have bad feelings about All Year Heating and Cooling. It's supposed to be such a high quality operation. The owner went to UT architecture school and that was supposted to translate into good design and high quality installation. The owner sent some subs he found somewhere to do my installation while all all his good employees were working on the house that he was building. I found the guys smoking pot in their car on their break. Was told the unit I was getting was a Trane. The furnace ended up being a generic off brand (distributed by Janitrol of Houston). I am sure that added a nice amount to their bottome line. When I asked about this, I was told that it does not really matter. The explaination was that "Most of them are made by the same company anyway". The unit was never quiet and I never really liked running it. It was so nice when it shut off. Neither the owner or anyone from the company came to check on what was going on when it was installed. One of the workers stepped through the living room ceiling. They sent a some sheet rock guy to fix it. The owner Michael Scher never came back by to inspect. I guess he was busy with his own house. I remember it was hard to get him on the phone. The worst surprise of all was this week (Nov 2010). I unwrapped the ducts to get them sealed up. All the insulation was falling off. I had the unit replaced because of all these government rebates going on. I found that many of the metal ducts were either just taped or pushed together. They had been leaking so much air for years. They guys shoved them together to cover them up fast. Today I got a Bryant system from good small company. It's so quiet. It feels great to have someone fix up all the mistakes that All Year made. I Really felt like I was taken advantage of and it cost me for years. Kind of like having bad dental work. I am sure some people have great experiences with All Year. Unfortunately, this was mine. Who ever you use, make sure you know the relationship of the installer and the company selling the goods. Personally, I can never trust this company again. It all depends on the crew the owner hires. The company has recently undergone new ownership, and I was concerned that maybe the new owners would not exhibit the same care that All Year has shown to me since my Trane system was installed in 2011.  I have a Mitsubishi mini split in another part of the house, and it was exhibiting some problems.  I believe now that there was a problem with the original installation, stuff too detailed to go into here.  But All Year helped to get it fixed recently, and the man they sent to help sort all this out was very helpful.  I recommend them wholeheartedly.  I am on a yearly maintenance plan with them, and I attribute the health of my 10 year old system to this maintenance, as well as the quality of the brand. read more

I believe these guys tried to take me on a ride. I was selling my house and had a system that was approximately 7 years old. The buyer wanted a AC inspection, totally understandable. The guy came out over an hour late, and perhaps he didn't like the fact that I commented on that, not sure.... Then he goes about finding all kinds of things wrong with my AC. Says the coolant charge is potentially low but he won't know until we spend something like $300 getting the unit cleaned. I'm thinking "scam" at this point, but he freaked out the buyer and their agent to where they offered to pay for it. I still said no. I wanted to kick the guy out of my house because I'd never had issues with the system. He stated that the external compressor may need to be completely replaced. Maybe he was in cahoots with the selling agent, don't know but it seemed pretty far-fetched. After the guys left, I got out the shop vac, vacuumed out some leaves in the outside unit. Sprayed it down with some simple green and then some water. It took me all of 30 minutes for this "comprehensive cleaning". And I can tell you it was spotless after this cursory hose down. Then I called out the company that installed the system. Guy came out said the charge looked great, no problems. The guy also did a temp differential and stated it was performing great, well over expected temp differential. He stated to me straight up that these guys were trying to sell me a system or the tech was up to something fishy with the buyers agent. So unless you want to get scammed, I'd say steer clear. read more

I have been a All Year Heating and Cooling customer since 1997. Remodeled and older house, and Michael (the owner) came out and designed a whole house system and sized the unit. I have been very happy with the cooling and heating. The condenser broke down after 16 years and had to be replaced. Susan came out as soon as possible and offered me some alternatives, and I made a choice. The only problem was it was after 5 pm on Friday, and in the hottest part of the year. Michael, Susan, and their crew put out a request to anyone willing to work on Saturday, their day off, and after the crews have been working non-stop due to the heat wave. Two of their men decided to help me out and work Saturday. They arrived on time and got to work, put their heads down and got the job done. No problems at all. These two guys were professional and courteous. I would highly recommend 'All Year Heating and Cooling' to my family, friends, and anyone who wants a good system at a fair price. Austin Texas in July ... no rain ... and temperatures daily over 100 degrees. We return from vacation to find a miserably hot home. Our 14 year old a/c was not working. It was about to be the July 4th weekend. All Year came out the same day and charged the system with coolant, but it did not hold. Susan came out and spent a considerable amount of time measuring and reviewing the needs of our home. She made three recommendations/options and assisted us in getting the new unit in the day after the holiday weekend. Very fast service. Highly courteous and responsive staff. Well trained and knowledgeable as well. The installers were prompt and efficient...and also knowledgeable. Whatever issue they encountered, they knew how to solve it. They finished early and the house, which was not supposed to actually be cool for 12 hours after installation, was cool at the target temperature of 76 degrees, after only 2 hours. Good equipment. All Year was aware of the rebates that are available, and will file those for us. This is clearly a team effort and a well run small business. We highly recommend All Year to anyone with heating or Air Conditioning needs. We have had their excellent maintenance service for years. The larger of our two A/C units was low on freon, and we were advised to replace it, rather than re-charge with now very expensive and soon-to-be-unavailable freon coolant. Got two bids for replacing the A/C, and the 96% efficiency "pulse" heater (which was working well after 31 years, but the encasement wouldn't fit the new A/C's condenser coil). Decided to use All Year Heating & Cooling, and we were delighted with their professionalism, service, and fair pricing. Ours was a particularly complicated replacement problem, because the compressor unit to be replaced was on our (flat) roof, and the high-efficiency heater and interior A/C condenser coils were crammed into a front closet, with the little space around them needed to store coats and cleaning tools and products. All Year sent out a senior executive and their project manager to measure carefully the old and new units' requirements. They managed to remove the old equipment and install, and thoroughly test the new heating and A/C equipment in one day, even though it required a crew of four skilled (and polite) technicians, with the senior project manager present and providing guidance while they carefully uploaded the bulky and heavy new A/C unit to our roof (in part by taking down the fence between our house and our neighbors and replacing it perfectly). They were very patient about cleaning everything up at and near the installation, and explaining and testing the rather complicated new wi-fi enabled thermostat. The salesperson has already filed the high-efficiency rebate forms with Austin Energy and helped us file with Texas Gas for the heater. We liked our old A/C, but this one is much more efficient (variable compressor and fan speeds, depending on the cooling requirements), and cools and dehumidifies wonderfully. We're couldn't be more satisfied with the products or the company itself. read more

24 hour service is a joke! Had an A/C Emergency on a Saturday, technician called and said he couldn't be there but could come Sun at 10. No show at 10 on Sunday and after 2 hrs of the service paging the technician he finally called. Said he never scheduled the 10 o'clock with me. Stuttered and stammered and then said I was out of service area and it would be an extra charge. I said fine - it's an emergency! He then asked if I could wait until Mon - I said no! Then the technician said he would try to move things around but didn't think he could - very wishy washy. Of course he never called back and did not show up. This is a small business with a few guys. The owner's sister came out to our house to do an assessment and spent at least an hour measuring things. We wanted to move our equipment up into the attic but we were also open to ideas. Well the technician (Susan) was nice enough when she visited and even responded to phone calls for a day or so, but once they decided that it probably wasn't a project worth doing they just moved on. No phone calls. Nothing. I called Susan back 5 times asking them if they wanted the job and even waited until after the heat wave. Pffff... These folks are not serious about customer service or reputation. Really, is one phone call back to me so much to do? Don't let them waste your time! read more

I have a list of five or six AC companies to call when something happens to our commercial building. All of those companies went dark when asked about installing a small unit for a room near the exterior of our building. All Year Heating & Cooling was recommended to us by one of our original vendors. They were the most hands-on when it came to quoting, the most responsive when it came to scheduling and to be honest the nicest techs we have dealt with for any sort of building project. When one of our other units started to have problems 3 days before a routine checkup, techs came out early and worked on the broken unit as well as their other maintenance checks. read more

I was very excited when they called to book my appointment, I was referred to them via the Trane website. The phone representative recommended Susan to come out as she was an expert in older historic type homes. Susan was professional and brought in a colleague to, what I assume come up with the best solution. Appointment took over 2 hours of my time. Unfortunately, not one person has followed up on the visit. I reached out to Susan via phone and email and haven't heard back. Nor has the company or Trane followed up to see if my needs were met. Super disappointed- ended up using Stan's, they were accurate, honest, followed up. I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase, which to be honest the install wasn't without it's challenges due to our homes restrictions. But Stan's went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the install and purchase of two entire systems. read more

I have to say I'm surprised that Leroy (previous reviewer) had such a bad experience with All Year Heating and Cooling, especially pertaining to customer service. I would hope that it was an unusual circumstance on All Year's behalf, because it was an opposite experience than I had with them. After having two other companies come into our home to give us a bid on a new A/C, I called All Year just to complete my '3 estimates' rule. I'm so glad I did, because Susan (yes, the same lady Leroy referred to, and yes, is the owner's sister) was so pleasant to work with! I wasn't able to take work off, so I had my father-in-law come to our house for the estimate. He was thoroughly impressed at how she took the time to measure and get the accurate square footage of the house and make other assessments of the house, such as how the house uses energy (i.e. where we get the most sunlight). She even went up into our attic and looked at our ductwork (our A/C unit is in the hall closet, not the attic like some houses). None of these details were covered with previous companies' estimates. They would just come in, look at the current unit and give us an estimate on the units they have, and be on their way. All Year's quotes were comparable to the other companies, and because my father-in-law was so impressed with Susan, we asked her if she might be willing to come out to talk personally with me and my husband. She didn't flinch at all, and even came out on her off hours. When she came to meet with us, she told us that after her measurements of square footage, she determined that our house was listed as having more square footage than it actually has (we've been paying extra in taxes!). That meant that the unit that was being quoted by other HVAC companies was bigger than needed, and we didn't need to pay more money for a bigger unit that in turn would also waste more energy than needed as well. She totally saved us, on taxes, energy and unit cost! Yes, All Year's thoroughness (is that a word?) might take more time out of your day, but it can pay in the end. Susan also recommended that we weatherize our house, and take advantage of the tax credit and city refunds available to us. No other company even mentioned this. She didn't push it either, meaning, she wasn't a hard salesman about it. Susan took the time to explain to us, in laymen's terms, what the heck everything meant, such as SEER rating, how the A/C unit works, and what the benefits would be to weatherize, etc. The installers were very friendly as well. Two weeks after the unit was installed, it started leaking. I thought, "Oh great!", because that was the day before it was to be inspected, and it was the same sign our last A/C gave us before it quit on us. But, I sent Susan an email that night (and it was a Sunday) and she responded the same night and had somebody else out the next day to fix it, no problem. We haven't had any problems since with our unit. But, I'm confident that if we did, they'd be on it! I just recently had to contact Susan, because I wasn't clear on how the rebates and tax credit worked. Considering it is tax time, I'd realized I procrastinated long enough, and needed to find out how I'd get my money. She called me the day after sending her an email. Well, turns out we were supposed to get a rebate from the City of Austin, who was to then send it to the gas company to give us a rebate as well. This was supposed to happen months ago! I hadn't realized this, but Susan knew right away something was wrong. She'd called the city and spoke with somebody. Apparently, the inspector (not associated with All Year), was no longer employed and never turned in the paperwork, so our rebates were never filed. Susan had no way of knowing this, and if I hadn't called, we would have never known. Susan sent their copy that the inspection was completed, and the checks on on their way! All Year Heating and Cooling was very cooperative, from Susan, to the installers, to their other employees on the phone. They were thorough, friendly, honest, fair-priced, and professional. I don't write a lot of reviews, but this is one I knew I owed to the company, and especially the public! read more
