If you value your time, I suggest finding a different dentist office. First the positives...Dr Aver is very nice and I like the holistic approach of her practice. When they ran 15 minutes late for my cleaning appt, I had no problem. However, when my child had an appt, they were over an hour behind. And not a single employee would have told me what's going on unless I was persistent and asked for follow ups. No one apologized. In fact the older woman at the front desk patient shamed us by saying we should have made a 1st thing in the morning or a Saturday appt. Um, say what? If I am an hour late to an appt, guess what? I have to pay a fine. But keep me waiting for an hour, it's my fault somehow. Not to mention my child had to miss the entire afternoon of school for no reason. Hey, I have an idea - why not try calling your patients that you know will be waiting over an hour and letting them know before they waste 2 hours of their time and miss school. Another suggestion - if you refuse to call and give patients a heads up on lengthy delays, how about when you notice patients sitting in your waiting room for over 15 minutes, take the initiative to find out the delay and let the patients know what's going on? And keep them updated. Emergencies happen. We get it. And understand. But it's how you handle the patients whose appointments are are affected by the emergency that matters. You give them notice, keep them updated, apologize and most of all don't patient shame as if it's their problem. read more

Do not go here! I was going here for a few years and things seemed fine. But the more I learned - the more I realized that Dr. Aver is not a good dentist. And uses inferior products. Her work is shoddy. And she tries to overcharge you - even after giving a price for things like a retainer or night guard type of product. Lastly - she has the worst time management I've ever seen. Numbs you for a filling and then goes to other patients. By the time she returns, the anesthetic has worn off. She ruined two of my teeth. And I spent a fortune there. Don't say I didn't warn you. In my last few visits I experienced long waits. In my most recent visit Dr. Aver diagnosed a cavity. I take very good care of my teeth and had no tooth pain, so I became suspicious. I went to another dentist for a second opinion. The new dentist determined I didn't have a cavity. This makes me wonder if other recent fillings Dr Aver put in were really needed (never had any pain or discomfort on those supposed cavities either). It pains me to write a negative review because I like Dr. Aver as a person. She doesn't seem like the type who would be drilling for gold. I was very excited to find an actual natural dentist on the North Shore I scheduled an appointment for two weeks out to meet with the doctor and go over my x-rays and fillings that I needed redone I had seen Dr. Aver in natural awakenings magazine and a couple other places After scheduling the appointment, the front desk staff had asked me for my dental insurance information. I had explained that I never received a dental insurance card and I was told tocontact my HR department. I explained that the dental insurance was purchased through the exchange since we are self-employed. I gave them the details but they insisted on asking me for a group number and member IDwhich I did not have. After two or three conversations with the front desk staff about the same thing I decided to cancel my appointment. Of course then I was told that I have to pay a $50 fee to cancel my appointment I asked to talk to the doctor about what my experience has been and why am canceling my appointment I was told that the doctor doesn't have a voicemail and then I said the doctor has to have a voicemail and they tried to explain to me how it's not working because Comcast is down. As a service provider I couldn't understand how our front desk staff could be so rude and how they could make it so difficult to come in to see a dentist for work that you need done I have dental insurance but I have also recently spent thousands on dental work so I'm quite aware of the costs I feel like I was treated very poorly read more

This review is not regarding the quality of dentistry, only regarding what seemed to me like an opportunistic approach to patient care. We were considering moving our 4-person family to this practice because I liked the green/holistic approach described on the website, even though Glenview is a bit of a drive from Evanston. Also I read the reviews here. My husband chipped a veneer, so we decided to test things out with his visit. The office was lovely and the front desk staff friendly and helpful, and we didn't have to wait long at all. However, it felt opportunistic when the hygienist tried to convince him to have panoramic x-rays on the spot, saying that she was "pretty sure most insurance covers it." We declined, saying we'd be more comfortable verifying with our insurance first ... especially since x-rays weren't necessary for our visit that day. The rest of the visit was fine, and when the dentist arrived, she said there wasn't much that could be done because the chip was so small. We appreciated her non-invasive approach, and she was very nice as well. My husband asked about whitening gel, and she said her office carries Dr. Collins' All White Bleaching Gel, which she sold him for $99. I wasn't there during the transaction, or I would have put it on hold until I could compare prices. When we got home, I looked online and found the exact same product (same % strength, same dosage, same packaging) at Target for $20. I had to call the office twice to get an explanation for why we were charged five times the retail price (not even the wholesale price!), and the explanation was simply, "that's what she charges." Combined with the x-ray situation, which felt sales-pitch pushy, I was very turned off. This aspect of our experience was very disappointing, because we believe very strongly in the non-toxic approach described on the practice website, and we were so pleased to find someone who took our insurance. However, dentistry can be quite expensive, and we wouldn't be comfortable in a practice where we've already been excessively overcharged. I should note that the front desk person offered to refund the purchase price if we drove all the way back out to Glenview, which we may end up doing. Either way, as an aware consumer, I would have appreciated reading this kind of feedback before scheduling the appointment, which is why I'm writing about our experience. read more

I have a story which you might not relate to, but can judge yourself. I've been referred to Dr. Aver by a friend. Not only she fits my requirements being a very gentle, but also using biological dentistry. That was very exciting. I've been asked for my SSN as a new patient and texted the number to the draveratfrontdesk@yahoo.com, and made sure the person at front desk has it. When I came to the office at 9 AM - no one was there (even though the sign shows Business Hours 9 to 7). No one showed up and at 9:15 I was going back to the car when saw another car pulling to the parking lot. The person was coming to work, but since the office was closed, she forced to stay in the car. She says she had a patient at 9:30. She was texting to the doctor and later I have learned that they don't expect any patients this morning until 10. Coming back to work, disappointed, I had a call from the office apologizing for inconvenience and telling me that they have no trace of making an appointment with me. They even suggested that I've made an appointment to another doctor next door???(which I did not - having confirmed with them my SSN). Than I was assured that the office workers are always accurate and never made such mistakes and they are sorry that this happened. Having them charge the patients $50 for no-show if patients do not cancel appointment within 48 hours, I've asked if they have the same policy towards the patients - after all I had re-arrange my working hours, was waiting on the street and spend my time working late that evening. Do I have to tell you that I am still waiting for the front desk to call me back for an appointment? My luck, finally finding a good doctor having ignorant stuff screw the things up... read more

I met this dentist back in 2017 and I loved all her staff. She does very nice work. I switched to a closer dentist but he was gone half the year and had a terrible billing manager. So we came back to Dr. Aver. She doesn't over diagnose. She is so sweet& her staff is all so amazing and really kind. Truly wonderful office as well. Hygienists are very good and thorough. They don't use junk products. You may pay a pretty penny but its worth it. After what I have been thru with other dental places this one is by far the highest quality! You won't be disappointed with her. She isn't one who just finds a ton of issues to make money, she prescribed us some great teeth building supplements which I truly believe is why my daughter still has her 4 front teeth. read more

Dr. Aver is a very gentle and comforting dentist. She works with you on payments and understands how expensive this stuff can get. She will not push you to do things you either don't want to or can't afford to do. She will also never make you feel bad for the condition of your teeth. I've been going to Dr. Aver with my son for over 5 years. She's great! My son has some enamel issues but Dr. Aver has taken a very conservative approach, giving us advice on how to carefully take care of his permanent teeth. He did get one cavity, which she filled painlessly--she did a stellar job talking him through it, distracting him & working gently but quickly. They are also very good about always asking if we want to be scheduled with the same hygienist to keep him comfortable with the routine. But both hygienists who have cleaned my teeth have been great. It's sometimes a busy practice, but she is only one person & it's managed well overall. It's a trek for us, but worth it. read more

Horrible. Paid for an annual cleaning and check-up plan. She billed insurance and got paid twice and then sent a bill for the second cleaning for all 3 of us, which should've been included in the plan. I had one filling that was poorly done and needs to be re-done according to my new dentist. I got 2 opinions on this. My kids hated the painful cleanings. Additionally, she billed twice and in one case, three times for the same tooth sealant or filling. You don't need sealants twice in a one year period. If a filling is done right, it's highly unlikely to have another cavity in the same tooth, unless she didn't remove the whole cavity. When I tried to discuss the billing mistakes, the dentist hid in her back office and refused to come out. They don't return calls nor will they provide my medical file, copy of the annual plan or copies of anything I signed. Complete lack of integrity and zero professionalism. Look carefully at your bill and look at your x-rays to make sure you really have a cavity. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years and even though on a superficial level, my teeth appeared to be "perfect" and would receive compliments regularly from people, I knew better. Closer inspection would reveal 10 years of tartar buildup, slightly recessed gum lines, and tooth pain in various areas. Fearing the worst, I was terrified of going to the dentist cause I didn't want to hear that my negligence had created irreversible damage. It seemed easier to avoid than having to deal. Well, I finally pulled the trigger and made an appt. as soon as I found Dr. Alla Aver through an online search. I wanted someone with a holistic approach and close to where I lived. I arrived and was graciously greeted by two receptionists. Slight mishap, in that my appt. could not be found in the system, even though I had received a call earlier that week confirming my appt. I was bummed, but stuck around while they tried to fit me in. Needless to say, I was able to get in soon for a cleaning, X-rays, and exams. The hygienist, Ida, who did my cleaning and X-rays was great! She was knowledgeable and was able to answer by questions throughly. The cleaning was kinda rough for me cause I had so much tartar buildup from the years that had to be removed, but she took extreme caution to ensure that I was comfortable and that the procedure was as painless as possible. Dr. Alla Aver came in after to introduce herself and review my X-rays and discuss recommended procedures as well as discuss my query regarding amalgam removal. She was really nice and like all her staff, appears to really care about her patients and providing them with not only the BEST and SAFEST treatment, but also creating the best possible EXPEREIENCE, cause come on people, no one likes going to the dentist! Before I forget to mention, they offer a generous discount program for uninsured patients. I took full advantage of this offer and it was money well spent! I left feeling like I had a new set of teeth! "Spots" that I thought were just permanent and a result of aging was really just gross and disgusting tartar buildup. All of it was removed! I'm thrilled that I went and I'm looking forward to my followup. With a dentist like Dr. Alla Aver and her team, I won't cringe at the thought of going to the dentist again. To add to my experience, as I got into my car and pulled out unto the main road, I noticed a car driving with vanity plates that said "SMILE" and that's exactly what I did :) I can't stop looking at my teeth and wanting to show them off. I've been seeing Dr. Aver for years and have never had a better dentist than her (and I've seen a few). I've converted the rest of my family to see Dr. Aver as well. She's very knowledgable, really invests in her own education (she is also a nutritional consultant and homeopath), very kind and warm. Her staff is incredible - front desk, hygienists (Aga and Aida), and assistants. I found her when I needed to have my amalgams removed, safely, and never wanted to go back to regular dentist again. When doing oral care Dr. Aver takes into account the whole body, not just what happens in the mouth. She uses safe, non-toxic materials and considers how these materials are compatible with your body. The hygienists taught me so much about taking care about my teeth and gums - regular dentist office have never done anything close to that. I'm so grateful to Dr. Aver and her staff.
