I visited here a week ago with the intention of have a nice dinner with grandparents. The restaurant is beautiful with a serene setting on the Allegheny river. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. As for the food, it was over priced and mediocre. My husband ordered the halibut and liked the fish but the fries were too garlicky. My grandma ordered the salmon and enjoyed it but said the vegetables were cold. I ordered the bbq chicken and only decent item on the plate was the mashed potatoes. The chicken were two small tenders with Kraft bbq sauce and a ton of cheddar cheese and a strip of bacon. (Chincy) it was served with cold vegetables and good red skin mashed potatoes. The best meal was my grandpa's steak, but for $25 I'd hope so. We spent over $150 and it would have been better to just drive to a chain restaurant, maybe they buy/ sell the same food as Applebee's. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe my feelings. I will not be visiting here unless it is to go to the great winery next door. read more

Deserves 2.5 stars probably. Food choices limited, but Friday/Saturday they 'feature' prime rib, which was good. Nicely done, ie not over-cooked, mashed potatoes or french fries, salad or cole slaw, all fine. Service, slow, competent, sllghtly on the surly side, but ok. The problem with prime rib is to keep it medium rare, if that is what you want, and yet have it come to the table hot. Rareness here was fine, but the meat was barely lukewarm. It came drenched in an au jus sauce, which I should have told them to put in a dish on the side. Or down the sink. The real downer, the wine list. Avoid, drink the miller light if that's is what you have to do. Wonder if they allow byob and what the charge is. Foolishly I ordered a glass of the red, cab, $7.50. Couldn't finish it Ordered a Woodbridge cab. Left it almost untouched on the table. Just a waste. Maybe the way to go is to bring your own hot gravy in a small thermos, your own wine, and give them special instructions on getting your feed hot to your table. Better not order a burger here! Probably the worst burger I have ever had and I would have rather ate a Burger King Whopper. Burnt low grade meat that tasted like a hockey puck that had been struck by lightning. Very overpriced low quality food or a terrible chef, or maybe both! read more

Very pleased. Since the new owners took over we were hearing wonderful things about the grill. Rumors were true. Very good food. Great atmosphere. And well trained wait staff. Beautiful place, fun to sit by the water, food was very good, a little on the pricey side for the amount of food you get. Hostess was very accommodating. The issue was our server. We were there on a Sunday afternoon. There were people there after Church and also a dozen motorcycles sitting out front. Once a table of 5 "bikers" sat down, we never saw her again. She stood and talked to the table for 20 minutes because they told her she didn't look friendly. While her existing tables went unattended she showed off her tattoos and even gave one of the guys a hug. If this had been a quick event it would have gone unnoticed, but it seriously went on for 20 minutes, at least. The manager even walked by her twice. Along with the fact that she was braless, it just was very tacky for the venue. It's a shame because it really is a nice location, but I can't imagine ever going back. read more

Very pleased with our experience. Location was easy to find with lots of parking. Great view of the river and a quiet location. Service was excellent and the quality of food is exceptional. Have eaten here several times over the last few years and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. Service was quick and efficient. Entertainment available a few nights a week which it hit and miss in quality. Food is always tasty and well thought out with slight flaws every now and then related to seasoning. I attribute this to a cook that forgets to taste the product and just assumes it is going to be right. Tasting it will always tell if you over salted the gravy or if you forgot to seed those peppers before you stuffed them. The stuffed peppers were the biggest miss that could have been a home run. They were cooked very nicely in a great tasting marinara. However, peppers need seeded, and sausage stuffing was rock hard. Throw some bread crumbs and grated cheese in with that sausage to make the textures match the cooked pepper. read more

Such a pretty place in an area without many choices. We enjoyed our dinners, took home leftovers to be able to eat dessert! My Mom dined with us, and we appreciated the elevator to get down to the dining room level. Our table had a nice view of the river so we got to watch the canoers as we ate. There was a wedding reception in the tented area outside which looked lovely, and didn't interfer with the diners inside. I'd recommend it the Chopped Salad. Such a lovely place to have a nice meal! The service was quick and courteous and the waiter recommended the Greek Pasta with chicken. My bf had the roasted red pepper penne with chicken and he loved it!! We also had the sausage hot peppers with the baguette which was very good and the Buffalo chips appetizer that was incredible! I should just have gotten that! We had to take 4 boxes home with us and we were stuffed! The view was lovely and there was live entertainment with oldies music outside too! We live fairly close to this establishment and frequent because there seems to be something always going on in this little town: Art festivals, wine festivals, summer music etc. The food is traditional American with lots of grilled and fresh ingredients. Always a great view and better atmosphere on the patio. The wait staff is very friendly and professional. There always seems to be some event going on when we go (wedding, reunions) but we've never had a hard time getting a table. Be sure to go to the art gallery, wine shop and maybe take in a Segway tour of the historic area or canoeing on the Allegheny. Great day trip for P'Burghers. read more

We drove over an hour to try the Sunday buffet, which featured prime rib. HOWEVER as we were in line at the buffet with a plate full of food, we were told they ran out of prime rib. This was at 2PM... 2 hours before the buffet closed! All that the manager, John, could offer us was a $2 discount on the buffet. ICED TEA costs more than $2. The food here is the best I have had in a long time. The wait staff is top noch and would do any request we asked for. We started with the italian stuffed bannana peppers and they were amazingly good. I had chicken marsala and my wife had the buffalo chicken salad and we both agreed that they were amazingly good. We also had a bottle of the local winery's redefine red (I believe that was the name) and it was great. Overall a great place that I truly look forward to going back to. Just passing through the area in our RV and asked the RV Park owner for a recommendation of a good sit down restaurant. He suggested the Allegheny Grill which is a 10 minute drive from I-80 at the Emlenton exit, right on the Allegheny River. It was just what we needed to get away from 3 days of truck stop and fast food. Beautiful scenery in a wonderfully setting. The main dining room is a beautiful pegged timber frame with nice decor and vast windows overlooking the river. Cynthia our server was excellent, friendly, efficient with just the right level of attention vs leaving us to enjoy the view and unwind from a long day of driving. We had some nice mixed drinks and some pico de gallo that was good but a bit on the sweet side, but it did compliment the nice spicy tortilla chips well. We each had a nice house salad which satisfied our craving for fresh veggies. And Cat had the clam chowder which was full of claim pieces and tasted great with a good mix of bacon, potatoes and cream. Cat had the Lobster Mac and Cheese which she loved. Well cooked pasta, hot and full of flavourful lobster pieces. I had the pot roast which had a beautiful dark gravy with fall apart meat over a bed of wonderful mashed red skin potatoes. The gravy was to die for! Then we finished by splitting their Pecan Ball, rich vanilla ice cream covered in pecans and a caramel sauce and almost the size of a softball. All in all a wonder meal wonderfully cooked and served. But do remember we were there on the first of April with only one other couple in the restaurant, so their off season. But our experience was superb and we highly recommend them! read more

Always a great experience. Saturday was a little busy; you may want to visit mid week. Great atmosphere in the bar area, no tables with out reservations because of graduations and events. I'm only giving two stars and that's solely on location and view...i don't understand why a restaurant would spend so much money to make a place look so nice and then serve below average banquet food. The view of the river from inside or out is great..cute little "town" area if your looking to have a drink or two (great beer selections they have there own brew pretty good) this is the spot while in the area. Now to the service..its wasn't busy for a Friday I would say at 35 percent full..waitress took sometime coming over to the table and was not great at bussing are very small table amongst the four of us. Hard to navigate the table with no room and few drinks not to mention when the food actual comes. Oh and the food...well...the menu covers all your main dishes. I ordered the chicken masala it was gravy not masala a thick gravy consistency with a few slivers of mushroom..they use the chicken strip cut so it has the tender running down it..yuck. I had the rice pilaf..i felt you could open a bag of uncle beans heat in the microwave type of rice and it would taste better!! I could probably write a book about how bad this food was..from over cooked mushy pasta to non existent seafood..i honestly was so disappointed in the food!!! read more

Beautiful location, expansive menu and friendly (albeit slow) staff. I had the shrimp alfredo which was very good. My biggest problem was the heat. It was late afternoon and there are floor to ceiling windows to view the beautiful river. But good gracious alive you feel like you are cooking along with your meal. Very cute place, larger than it looks on the pictures. Fantastic location right on the river. Feels like an elegant hunting/fishing lodge. There was a band playing outside at the patio bar, but we ate inside. Great menu. Food was good and reasonably priced. We had Salmon Oscar with Red Skin Mashed Potatoes, Riverstone Chicken (BBQ chicken w/ bacon and jack cheese), Three Cheese "Purse Raviolis" Alfredo, and Roasted Red Pepper Penne. Went to the Grill during an open mic night and the band was jammin. There were quite a few people in attendance. I had the mussels appetizer and french onion soup and both were delicious. Beautiful views, I give credit when it's due, but the pleasantries end there. The salad they brought me literally had 1.5 croutons on it. That was the first sign we were not in for a good meal. I ordered seafood mac & cheese that was supposed to have shrimp, crab, and scallops. I found two VERY tiny pieces of scallop, no crab at all, and about 5 shrimp....I was not happy. My wife ordered cod, which was so heavily breaded and fried that most of the fish itself was hard to find after most had been decimated in the frier. Then she threw up, likely from the grease, when we left. No joke. I would have informed the waitress or management if they would have asked about my experience, but they were the most emotionless and unfriendly bunch I've seen in awhile. I strongly encourage you to dine elsewhere as I greatly regret my decision to take my wife there. read more

It was my first visit. The building itself is huge and resembles a log cabin inside. There are large, clean, restrooms and a large bar on the bottom floor. The menu is large and everything is delicious from the French dip and burgers to the steak salads. . I am happy to report that the quality of the meal was on par with our last visit. We ordered off of the special list. We had pork medallion with wild rice and liver and onions with mashed potatoes. The view and the building are lovely. I have heard getting a burger here is a fun experience, but I have only experienced a holiday event and I would not recommend it for a celebratory holiday meal. My steak was more like mystery meat and it was one of the oddest meals I have ever experienced. I live in this region and so I gave the second star mainly because I have been told that others have enjoyed their visits. They need a basic menu of good sandwiches and basic potatoes because they couldn't handle rice and a steak and I wasn't being picky about how done the meat was... I actually think my steak was covered with a rotten bad shrimp and then the shrimp was pulled off after they realized that I hadn't ordered shrimp. (Shrimp is actually my favorite food, so for me to say I think it was a bad shrimp is significant, I tend to be cautious about where I order seafood because I don't waste money or calories on bad seafood). I would not eat here if I had a food allergy because of this experience. The flavor of my meat was so strange that the only think that I could come up with as a possible explanation of the bad flavor I experienced was the optional shrimp. Second trip to the Allegheny Grill not impressed the first time but gave a second chance. My wife had a burger it was a frozen pre formed straight out of a box patty terrible. I had the special eggplant parm. with spinach and artichoke stuffing. The dish was smothered in cheese and bland. Meal for the price was very uninspired and lacked flavor. My fiancé and I decided to try the Allegheny Grille for date night. We had never been there before, so why not try somewhere different? We unfortunately weren't as impressed as we'd hoped we'd be. Walked in and no seated us and there was no sign to say if we could seat ourselves. The bartenders saw us and made no attempt to say anything or to tell a server we were there. We bumped into one on our way to the bar since we weren't sure what to do. He took us to a table and immediately a waitress asked what we wanted to drink, literally a split second after we sat down. I had to tell her I didn't know since I wasn't able to look at the drink menu yet. When I did decide on a drink it came with something floating in it. I was already getting disappointed so I didn't bother to complain. My side salad was ok. The caesar dressing was very thick even for a creamy dressing, almost like pudding, and was a very off-putting color. My main dish was Chicken Marsala. It was ok, but was like 4-5 chicken tenders instead of a breast. Mashed potatoes had no flavor so ai was lucky I had the Marsala sauce. Veggie side was straight out of a bag; also no seasoning or flavor. Worst of all was my fiancé's Reuben sandwich. He loves reubens and never complains, but this one was small for $13 with a very small portion of fries. The corned beef was cut incorrectly, so it was tough and very hard for him to eat. It fell apart when he tried to bite (rip) a piece off to eat. Overall it was ok. Would we go back? Maybe for the view and only the view, since this time it was dark when we got there, but never again for the food. read more

My wife and I stopped on our way back to Illinois like we do every year and every year it's reliably good but it's always the same and it's always kinda unremarkable. This year however we were blown away by the changes to the menu and the quality of the food. I'm a chef myself and I try not to make a habit of writing reviews like this but I'm making an exception. My wife had the risotto and it could stand up to risottos we've had at some pretty upscale places. I tried the short ribs and couldn't believe how tender and rich they were. We also tried the street corn app special and the grilled Brie which were both presented beautifully and were both delicious. Even though our server seemed to be more inconvenienced by our presence than anything else I'm still very grateful we stopped. Whatever changes you've made or if it's a new chef you've brought in keep it up. We can't wait to come back next year. read more

I am a fan only because the view is fantastic. We drove down from Tionesta area specifically to eat out on the deck overlooking the river. We arrived between lunch and dinner time on Saturday Sept. 20th. They said there was a half hour wait time and they couldn't guarantee a deck table. While we were waiting, we kept walking out to the deck area to see 3 empty tables the entire time. When we were finally buzzed that a table was ready, she said she didn't have a deck table! We gave her a disappointed look and she said let me go check. She came back and said there was one available. Food was ok. They really need to work on outdoor seating. read more

my daughter had her wedding here. for the money we paid the service could have been better. the event coordinator did not assist at all in keeping things going. The staff also took what leftovers there were from the cocktail as well as the cupcakes and cookies. not cool. we paid a lot of money for a cake no one saw and was only able to rescue some of the food. it was stacked up on a table when the groom came by and took it. they all had names written on them that we did not know. it was obviously for employees. they then lied and said ants got into the cookies. ( it was raining, no ants to be found). The food however was excellent. read more

WE decided to travel to Foxburg based on positive reviews. The venue is beautiful. along with the neighboring venues. However, we did not have a good experience. We waited a long time to receive our meals. Our soup and salads were served with the entrees,obviously we were overlooked, our meals were lukewarm and had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile, but worst of all, our daughter's meal was not served. Apparently, it was not prepared. her meal arrived steaming, which was better, but we were almost done at that point. Her meal was delivered by someone other than our servers (the manager?) He did apologize, but no offer of compensation. Come on guys, offer a drink or free desert when you mess up that badly and your guests are paying a check of $200. The menu was typical and no seafood entries, with the exception of a "surf and turf" special which was shrimp, not lobster. Where Is Chef Ramsey when you really need him. Talk about a wasted multi-million dollar opportunity in a beautiful setting with spectacular views. The Manager admitted to us that the reason we could not get a substitute for Garlic Red Skin Mashed Potatoes was that they did not have a Potato anywhere in the restaurant and their dinner potatoes came pre-made in a bag from a food service warehouse. The Manager also openly admitted that the side vegetables offered with their dinner service is the same pre-made and from a bag side dish that they have had for the past 13 years !!! Unbelievable.- Why is that every restaurant feels like they must add Garlic to everything on the menu. Many people are Garlic sensitive and just cannot tolerate even a little garlic. We understand cooking with seasoning, but not Garlic in every single thing and to not offer any alternative !! Even the French Fries we ordered to avoid the Garlic Mashed Potatoes came seasoned with "You Guessed It" Garlic and our waiter did not even bother to mention it. - $ 26.00 for two beef medallions that were over cooked, with Garlic French Fries substituted for Garlic Mashed Potatoes from a Bag, no dinner rolls, and a side salad that was limp and wilted with grated cheese from a BAG no doubt. Of course, when I mentioned the extreme garlic in the house dressing our Huffy Waiter told me that everyone Loves their house dressing. As if somehow his not understanding, now for the third time, that we had a Garlic sensitive person with our party, was somehow our fault.
