Decided to give this gem another shot. I'm glad I did. My family and I went, we got a table with a height chair. We were greeted right away and the staff was so polite. Offered my son chocolate milk and brought out the biggest and most delicious cinnamon roll ever! Totally homemade too. The staff also interacted and played with my son the entire time. Kept getting coffee refills too without being asked, it was nice! Breakfast was so good! Had the homemade rye toast with eggs over easy was $2.99!! We wanted to take our son out for breakfast but the place we planned on going was not open. (Traveled about a half hour at this point, no problem) So we looked in G Maps to find the nearest place with a decent rating and the Camelot came up. I mean, they should have told us we were not welcome with a sign on the door, rather than let us in and have to deal with such nasty service. I was staying the night near the outlets in Mercer and saw this was about 7 miles away and I'm always interested in local breakfast joints, so I drove to give it a try. I got there around 6AM and the only employee was busy in the kitchen, but there were two guys enjoying coffee and discussion when I went in (customers) and they told me to grab a seat, which I did. A minute later, the lady from the kitchen hustled out, grabbed the coffee urn and a menu and came to me. She's an efficient worker, so I knew this would be a decent experience! I opted for their "McDougall" and a side of corned beef hash. She went in the back and whipped this up rather quickly and the sandwich (bacon egg & cheese) was excellent! The bacon was exactly how I like it cooked and the egg was spot on! The corned beef hash was decent, but it was the typical "Hormel" style. Overall... Price, Service, Food was on par with what I enjoy from a local diner like this, so I was happy. Would I come here with higher expectations or for more, probably not. I put an order in for a dozen of their cinnamon rolls on the Monday before Thanksgiving. On the phone I told her my name and I'd like to pick them up on Wednesday. I asked her when would be a good time. They said most any time. So I said I'd pick them up at noon. When I went in on Wednesday after a half hr drive to get them, they did not have them. They came out with a piece of note paper supposedly from call with the date the 24th. She said I thought it was December 24th. They had no name on it or phone number. If that wasn't bad enough she ignored me there while I sat there. I had to ask if they could be made and I would come back from a half hour away. They said the person who makes them was gone. So they offered me 8 pecan rolls which I accepted. She just sits them in Front of me and leaves to do something else. So I had to ask her how much were they? She told me and said I would have to take them out front. So she comes back runs my card. Gives it back to me to sign and walks away. So I just signed the slip. Didn't worry about waiting around to get a receipt back from her and walked out. I will say that I have been there a couple times and it has not been that way. This place used to be so great a couple years ago. Not sure what happened, but I keep giving it chance after chance and it lets me down everytime. Everything is cheap - therefore, you get what you pay for. Last couple times I have went, I had to either ask for a new cup and/or silverware since apparently it's hard to wash their dishes correctly. Sorry, I do NOT want to eat off of something with remnants of someone else's dried up food. Servers are a hit or miss. Place was amazing a couple years ago and keeps going downhill every year. Save your time, money, and hunger and go somewhere else. Or walk across the street and get Sheetz. Menus should be updated. Ordered a taco salad and a steak salad that are both advertised as served in edible bowls. They were able to notate a price increase due to the price of eggs so clearly if they are cutting costs they should notate that as well. I ordered based on the bowl to help satisfy my hunger. Besides hearing the lady cooking cursing left and right the place could use a thorough cleaning. The waiter took back both salads barely touched and didn't question a thing. It was all about the service,,, WE LEFT and did not eat... we arrived and sat in a booth. Then the bald server walked over,, we said we would like to order drinks.. He said I am just doing coffee he was loud and rude. then after approx 10 mins he came back and asked for the drink order and we said we would like to order food with our drinks, he raised his voice and looked at my family disrepectfully and said just drinks first. My wife said we would like another server. He abruptly and loudly said "Karen" so the whole restaurant could hear... "What does Karen mean"? ... As Karen is generally stereotyped as having a blonde bob haircut, asking to speak to retail and restaurant managers to voice complaints or make demands, and being an anti-vaxx , Generation X soccer mom. Was in PA for Ragnarok back in late June. So I went in garb because I didn't pack any normy clothes. Was treated well, nothing over the top. Maybe a little slow considering the place was not full, but I was not expecting anything. I found them hunting for a place close to the campgrounds of Cooper's Lake. If you are there for Pennsic or Rag how can you resist not going to a place named Camelot haha. It is NOT themed so keep expectations low. They are known for the giant cinnabuns so I had one. It was fun to order and try. Not big on sweets so had biscuits and gravy. Everything was so inexpensive I ordered more than I needed for sure. Spoiling myself, I enjoyed my time there trying everything I wanted. They sell swag too, like hats and tees in case you want a souvenir. The place has been there a long time and has an interesting history It was good enough for the price. So when I went back to my camp and told my group about it we all went for our last day in PA. I'm a really big fan of hole in the wall diners and this place fits the part ! The food is the only thing you could really complain about and it's not bad at all it's just not what some would consider "gourmet" it's very home style as if your mom or grandma whipped you up a hearty breakfast !! In this one horse town it's the place to go for breakfast I guess. 99 cent breakfast is now 1.99 and that's if you purchase a beverage that's overpriced so you're not really getting a deal. They used to have huge plate sized cinnamon rolls that were a great value but now they're smaller and more expensive. Drive the extra distance to eat n park and get a way better meal for your dollar. I go to college in the area, so I took my family here when they were visiting me. The hostess lady was so incredibly rude to me and my family, particularly my mother (who is Asian) but somewhat friendly to my dad (Caucasian). We figured she was just having a bad day, so we weren't too upset about it, though the old lady was so rude. The food is yummy and really cheap, so it's good for a big family. But last week, my brother was visiting, so we decided to get breakfast. When we went inside, the old lady abruptly said, "no more tables," so I asked if there was a wait. She said, "sure, you can wait outside. close the door," with a rude tone. I then asked her how long she thought the wait might be, and she angrily said, "how would I know that? How would you even estimate that? How am I supposed to know?" Girlie was so rude for no reason. What restaurant has no way of estimating the wait? Despite the yummy food, I don't think I'll be returning because the service is just so bad. read more

With the Camelot you have to know what to expect. It's a greasy spoon in a college town with prices aligned with the 1980s'. The waitresses have worked there for 20 plus years and will probably ask you if you need a menu. I only visit for breakfast, so I cannot speak for anything else served here beyond the AM. Besides the hung over college students on Saturday mornings, it's the locals who visit on the regular that make up the majority of the Camelot's customers, so it's probably not a good idea to grab a seat on a bar lest you want to piss off a regular who thinks his name is written on that stool. First thing you need to do is walk in and grab any table or booth that is open. Next, order a cinnamon roll. It's the size of my head and is something like $1.50. It's warm and delicious and is even better when it's smeared with real butter that they give you in little packets. Next, order the triple crown. It's the perfect breakfast of two small pancakes, bacon, perfectly crisp home fries, and two eggs. The price is around $3. You won't find real maple syrup or any other fancy accouterments at this joint, but you will walk out spending pennies on the dollar for a damn tasty breakfast. I don't think it's changed since the first time I ate there as a child, and I can always go home and get the same breakfast I did when I was a poor college student. read more

Good, cheap diner food for breakfast 7/2020 update: went for breakfast very disappointed. None of the employees wearing masks, was given usual menus sticky and not disposable, had to go to the bathroom to get a paper towel with soap and water to wash the common bottles and shakers on the table. This is my absolute favorite breakfast place. Prices are extremely low. Some of the best deals I've seen in years. Whenever I try a new breakfast place I always have a sausage egg and cheese sandwich to gauge the place. They have one of the best I've ever had. It's not huge so definitely order a side. I recommend their french fries because I have no idea what they fry them with but they are beer battered goodness. For those with a sweet tooth I don't know which is more amazing, the $1.55 cinnamon roll or the lovely lady that makes them. read more

The breakfast sandwich tasted like it was microwaved and was too hard to eat. The pop tastes like toothpaste, which is so weird!! None of us could ever figure out why it always had that taste. I'm not from the area but decided to stop here for breakfast while at a campground nearby. We had a group of 7 of us. The lady at the door was very bitchy and laughed at us and said "you know you're never going to get a table for 7 people" along with many other bitchy comments. She was extremely rude for no reason. Our group split into 2 tables which was perfectly fine. Our waitress was great ! She even gave us a free cinnamon roll. Their homemade rye bread was really good but my boyfriends scrambled eggs were grey in color. Great food, extremely cheap and a ton of breakfast selection. This is one of the best value places in Slippery Rock. They make it affordable for a bunch of the college kids. Camelot is a Slippery Rock institution. It's got more character than any other place, which is in part due to the somewhat lukewarm and impatient servers. The prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. The portions are small and the food is mediocre. The coffee is awful. If it were better, I'd be willing to overlook the tepid food, which always seems like it's been sitting under a warmer waiting to be ordered rather than cooked to order. I don't want Camelot to go away, ever. Slippery Rock wouldn't be the same without it. It's consistently underwhelming, however, no matter how good the cinnamon rolls are! read more

I did not enjoy my experience at all. The waitresses were disrespectful and uninterested in my needs while I was there. Also they were not welcoming or nice. I was seated all the way in the back and people started to get served before me even though I came before them. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. When I walked in the hostess was rude and seemed annoyed with all the college kids that come in the restaurant. I also don't know how this place passes their health and safety check because it is disgusting, the one time I visited I was seated at a booth and I couldn't help but notice those annoying fruit flys buzzing around well, when I looked up at our side wall I saw about 12-15 fruit flys crawling on the wall, needless to say I haven't been back since. I was told about Camelot's restaurant i was very excited to enjoy their breakfast due to the fact it would have been my first time there it seemed to be a small quaint little restaurant which had a cheap deal on breakfast however I now understand why the breakfast was so cheap you might ask why is there breakfast so cheap in a town known for college kids it's because there SERVICES SUCKS I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt due to the fact that they were busy but once I realize my waiter was serving everyone else in the restaurant never coming to check on me and my friends to ask us if we would like a refill on coffee or water I realize that there was something going on when we finally got our winters attention to ask her for more coffee she rolled her eyes as if it wasn't part of her job description then went on to pour coffee in my friends cup when he had asked her for decaf wait it gets better there were four of us at the table in the corner as if we need to move to the back of the bus if you get my drift further more when our food came out she only served three out of the four of us at the table we spent a total 2/12 hours waiting to be seated and for food and our food didn't even come out together and the food that was presented it was cold so if you ask me DONT GO to Camelot's try the Dunkin donut down the street read more

Camelot is a very nice and quaint place to eat with a pleasant atmosphere. When you order they load up your plate with good quality food and it's cheap too. The cinnamon rolls are absolutely massive and taste amazing too. Be sure to check them out, but get there early because it fills up fast. read more
