We had the pleasure of working with Jeannie of Allegro Event as our Tri-lingual MC for our wedding reception. When we were planning for our reception, we wanted to find an MC who had experience and was able to speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, so that all of our family and friends would be able to understand the ongoings of our wedding event and feel included and welcomed at our wedding. Jeannie was the perfect MC for this. Not only was she able to explain everything clearly and concisely to our guests, she also helped hype up the mood and encourage audience participation. She was warm and confident on the mic, and was also comfortable switching up and adjusting sudden changes with our order of events to accommodate for what's going on. With how many things go not according-to-planned at weddings, we're so grateful to have had her at our wedding, because it probably would've been a big mess without her! Jeannie was our wedding planner and MC for our wedding. She has so much experience with event/wedding planning, so she had a lot of good recommendations for venues and vendors. Jeannie made the wedding planning process so smooth and easy that I did not stress at all as a bride, even with a shorter engagement period of 8 months. I was looking for someone who understood Chinese cultural traditions, but also knew what it took to help transform a restaurant banquet space into our celebratory venue for a mixed guest list. Jaycie and her team are phenomenal! During me & my husband's wedding planning process, Allegro Event's wedding coordination services were a huge help. We had ~200 guest wedding and separate locations for ceremony and reception. Here are some highlights of our time working with Jaycie: - Breaking down the overall timeline, key people, decorations, vendors, and etc., and being able to identify missing factors in the midst of the planning process. It can be hard to figure out what tasks I need to cover, but it's been so helpful to have someone go through each section with me. She also offered excellent and creative solutions when it came to resolving those missing factors/elements. - Jaycie has been very professional and seamless when communicating with me and when working with other vendors. She has been very responsive during the process leading up to the wedding. I appreciate the way she worked with the head pastor of the church's facilities for the ceremony, since there was much to iron out there. It was very helpful with determining the layout and timeline of that part of the day. Also, we're thankful for her being able to talk to our banquet restaurant manager in Chinese and that she already had experience using the space of the restaurant. - Some few guests were late to their roles in our wedding reception, but Jaycie was adaptable and shifted the next set of events that was to come in our timeline. I reached out to Allegro Event because my fiancé and I were looking for a trilingual MC - English, Mandarin, and Cantonese for our wedding. After talking, we found out that Jeannie is a jack of all trades! She is a radio host, officiant, coordinator, event planner, etc. You name it, Jeannie does it ALL! Instead of booking individual people for each role, we hired Jeannie for the entire package and she assigned me with 2 coordinators, Jaycie and Zach! Best decision ever! Jeannie is personable, friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. You can tell her and her team has many years of experience in the wedding industry because she brought up many questions that we hadn't thought. We went through a thorough timeline and Jeannie and Jaycie were both excellent communicators with changes/updates. Jeannie also referred us to other vendors such as videographer and DJ who she has worked multiple times in the past, and knowing that they all have good rapport was very important. I still recall the rain during the ceremony and her welcome speech was so touching. Nothing about it was scripted. The week of the wedding, the weather was fluctuating between rain and no rain. As a back up plan, Jeannie recommended going to IKEA to buy shawls and clear umbrellas in case it did rain. We are so glad we listen and bought them last minute because it did rain later at night. Due to the unfortunate rainy weather we encountered the day of our wedding, the entire team still did an amazing job! I would caution anyone to hire the allegro team for their wedding. They missed/changed deadlines for updates and plans multiple times. If you use them, or your venue does, save every email and record your conversations as proof of their incompetence to prove any disputes with them. I had to show proof to the Allegro staff that they indeed were the ones who missed deadlines that they set for themselves, and tried to give excuses afterward. I understand there are some bridezilla's, but my review would not be justified if I did not have the emails/texts/conversations to back up my claims. I really had poor direction from the staff to plan my wedding, and I felt I had to to most of the design myself. Their version of helping you plan is sending you pictures of events which may not even be related to what you discussed. Don't expect timely correspondence, sometimes it would take up to 1.5-2 weeks for them to respond to questions when they tell you they will respond in a few days. The only plus was that the day of wedding things went smoothly and their staff was very accomodating. If for some reason you have to hire them because of location, use them for day of and nothing else. It was a complete nightmare planning with them and they made my wedding experience something I would rather forget. read more

As with any wedding days, it was busy and hectic, but Mandy had everything under control at all times. We booked allegro event for our tea ceremony, wedding ceremony and reception on May 28, 2017. Allegro event was referred to us from another wedding planner that we contacted through yelp though I forgot which one. I am so glad that we went with Jeannie and here are the reasons why: Pre-planning: We met up with Jeannie and her assistant months before our wedding to go over our vision of our big day. The month prior to the wedding, Jeannie helped us with our wedding timeline and we went back and forth over the phone on the details. She contacted our vendors for us to tell them when they need to setup by. She was extremely organize and made sure we have everything we needed, like asking if we purchased the sand for our sand unity, pillow for the ring bearers, and etc. Wedding day: Tea ceremony- our tea ceremony was at two different locations. Hilton San Gabriel for the bride's side and Empress Harbour Restaurant at Monterey park for the groom's side. She and her assistant made sure that our tea ceremony was conducted smoothly and told my husband and I what to do. She also made sure we were on schedule and had time to eat. Wedding ceremony - she and her assistant made sure people knew where to go during the ceremony and that everyone was seated when we started. The ceremony went very smoothly. After the ceremony, she helped us make sure that we got pictures with our extended family. She was very organized with that and made sure we had a list and announced the family over the mic so that we were not missing anyone. Reception - Jeannie and her assistant did a great job setting up the table decorations and the lightings. It went beyond what we expected. The dj and mc were amazing. We loved our mc Howard. He was hilarious and the games we played during the reception was funny and fun. Our guests were so entertained. Many of our guest were dumbfounded when they found out Jeannie and Howard are from AM1430 radio station including my makeup artist. Haha. Everyone had fun at our wedding. Oh one more thing, during the makeup preparation, I couldn't find my veil and I went to panic mode. Jeannie/ her assistant was my life saver and went to david's bridal to pick one up for me. We didn't think we needed a day of coordinator at first, but after working with Jaycie and her assistant, she helped with way more than just the day of and couldn't have done it without her. She met with us in person once at the venue and did 3 zoom meetings. She helped with creating a very detailed time line for the entire day. Jaycie also helped with our last minute decision to rent 115 chairs and was very quick to respond to other changes leading up to the wedding. We can't recommend Jaycie and her team enough! If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have retained Jeannie and Allegro Event for their wedding planning services. To be clear, this review is not for Jeannie's services as an MC, which I will review separately. First off, Jeannie's "Silver Package" promises to "Assist you with the vendors selection process" and "review all vendor contracts and remind you with payment due dates." These didn't happen. While considering florist services, Jeannie mentioned that she had a florist friend, but there was no follow through in actually getting us connected with her florist friend. And if Jeannie reviewed any vendor contracts, it was unbeknownst to me, because I was never reminded of any due dates. A few months before the wedding, during a meeting that we had with our site coordinator, Jeannie agreed to attend as our wedding planner and as a representative for our DJ. Not only did Jeannie show up late to the meeting, but about 30 minutes in, she requested to be excused to put more money in her parking meter. The site coordinator told her we were wrapping up anyway, so Jeannie could just leave. After Jeannie left, we fleshed out other important event details without Jeannie. This made me a little nervous: If Jeannie couldn't plan to attend an hour-long meeting, how much faith did I have in her planning a wedding? During the week before the wedding, I expressed my concerns to Jeannie about how our wedding guests could be cold even with heat lamps at our mostly outdoor event. (I was mainly only concerned about cold weather and did not seriously consider the possibility of rain.) Jeannie reassured me, "Don't worry. All you have to worry about at this point is loving [your fiance]." Which eased my concerns, and made me glad that I had a wedding coordinator. On the day of, Jeannie alerted me that it will rain that night, and we should order a tent. Our venue required a 3-4 days notice to set up a tent, so there was nothing to do at that point but to move everything inside. Almost nothing went according to plan that night. My disappointment with Allegro is not so much how they handled the wedding night; after all, rain is not their fault. It was the prior planning process (or lack thereof) and the aftermath that makes me concerned about the professionalism of Allegro. Strangely enough, after our wedding, Jeannie's assistant went on to review our venue, where she appeared to chastise us for not reserving a tent. She wrote: "the couple needed to give 72 hour notice to set up the tent outdoors - but they decided to just hope for the best and go without the tent." Actually, we didn't "just hope for the best." We (wrongly) underestimated the possibility of rain, but doesn't that also go for your planning team? Jeannie had an opportunity to tell me to consider the tenting deadline during the week before, but simply told me not to worry about anything. Jeannie's assistant also wrote that "The bride and groom even requested to have a champagne toast with their guests last minute." That characterization is false. The champagne toast was always in our original timeline. Either Jeannie didn't disburse the timeline to her assistant planners, or her assistant didn't care to review our timeline. I don't know why an event planner would go on to blame the bride and groom as her review did, other than perhaps Allegro was looking to gain favor with the venue to be on its preferred vendor list. Yet not everything about Allegro was bad -- Jeannie is an excellent MC (again, will review separately). The service on the night of was great, and it's awesome that their planners speak Cantonese. Jeannie was able to assist in selecting a Chinese song for our father-daughter dance. The price is also reasonable. But brides, if you retain Allegro, know that you'll still be on the hook for most of the planning, and if things don't go right, Allegro might even blame you for it. read more

We worked with Jeannie and Jonsen for our wedding at Calamigos Equestrian and were highly impressed with the level of service we received from them both. I think Jeannie really listened to our needs when we were trying to figure out what to do for our ceremony and helped us come up with the perfect tone for the whole night. Jeannie knows how to show restraint as an MC and really made us feel that we were well taken care of throughout the whole process. She has a lot of experience with weddings and was able to give us all the little tips and tricks to make things run smoothly. Jonsen was also a pleasure to work with. I have nothing bad to say about Jeannie. She is very creative, dedicated and work long hours. I've collaborated several events with Jeannie and I was not once disappointed. She is very organized and prompt, professional and considerate. Most vendors just want to take your money and do their thing. Trust me, I've bumped into a few planners with a "I'm better than you" attitude when our events overlap at the same venue. I would not have recommended Jeannie if I didn't think she would do a good job to my clients. It was about a month and a half before my wedding and I still didn't have a DJ or MC. I wanted someone that can speak fluent English/Cantonese/Mandarin. I contacted Allegro Events. Unfortunately Jeannie wasn't available the weekend of my wedding but she recommended me a good friend of hers Howard Lee. She was really helpful on the phone and assured me that Howard would be a great MC and also he speaks all three of the languages I asked for. Turns out he is also a very popular Radio Host at a Chinese Station that my older sister LOVES to listen to. Howard was great, he entertained my guests. She also recommended Jonsen as the DJ. He was great. He had everything that was needed for the slideshow. He played all the right music. I have no complaints. We hired Jeannie as our day of coordinator. I basically had everything planned and wanted someone that could execute everything for me the day of my wedding without me having to worry about all the little details. Jeannie did exactly that and went above and beyond. We met several times before the wedding and she even helped with transporting all of my diy decorations to both of my venues. Jeannie definitely deserves a 5 star in my book. Now the reason for the 4 stars is her assistants. Jeannie herself is personable and all smiles, which is what I wanted to see the day of my wedding. I wasn't too happy with her assistants. They were stand offish and had sour looks on their faces all day especially when we had lunch. As a bride, I did not want to see that or deal with it so I ignored them. But it did leave a impression on me because I felt like they could have at least just faked being happy. Jeannie herself was not there when the assistants helped to bring lunch to the bridal party. But when I arrived at the location for lunch, they did not say anything to me and they left without saying a word to anybody (Maybe that is why they are assistants instead) I did not want to see unhappy faces when I spent over a year planning my wedding. I wanted to see nothing but happy smiley faces! I'm hoping they had an off day and the next bride they help, they will have nothing but happy smiley faces. Jaycie was the Senior Event Planner that we worked with and it was a pleasure working with her throughout the process! She met with us several times over zoom to create/review/finalize a detailed day of plan. My wife and I used Allegro for our MC/DJ and wedding coordination needs. We found them through referral. As for Jeannie being our MC, I would say it's not what my wife and I thought of her (which we thought she did wonderfully well), but it was the very positive feedback we got from our guests that put her over the top. Jeannie is professional, she doesn't over talk, knows what to say and how to say things at the right time. She is also very charismatic and knows how to work the audience. Adrian was our DJ. I wanted to surprise my wife by singing a song to her on our wedding day. Adrian took time to meet with me individually and helped me with the editing of the instrumental track and he also gave me ideas on how I might set-up the surprise. In the end, my wife loved it. Within our circle of family of friends, using a wedding coordinator was seen as an unnecessary luxury if you have extra money to spare. We disagree. Using Jeannie as our wedding coordinator turned out to be the best money we spent. Why would you want to make your Brides maids, groomsmen's, best man, maid of honor, family members (people who you claim to care about), work for you on the day of your wedding. We didn't want to burden the people we cared about so we hired Jeannie for her wedding coordinating services. We attended one of our close friend's wedding and Jeannie was the MC, she did such a great job that we also hired her to be our MC as well. Everything from start to finish went very smooth and professionally. She gave us great advice and ideas when we were planning out our time line and events at the wedding. We hired Jeannie and her team for wedding planning, and it was the best decision we made throughout the process. We had chosen a VRBO home as a venue for our small wedding, but knew that we didn't have the time and/or patience to devote for the rest of wedding planning. We interviewed several planners and hired Jeannie immediately after we first met with her. She was friendly, organized, incredibly hard-working, flexible, and more importantly, get things done. She recommended vendors (all of whom were amazing and deserve their own reviews) that work within our budget and preferences, and attended our appointments with them. Since our wedding was less than 40 guests, she gave us complimentary MC service to make announcements. Unfortunately, our VRBO rental screwed up and told us two months before our wedding that they had accidentally double booked us. At this point, we had put down deposit for all vendors including caterer, and our overseas family and friends had booked their travel. It was a very stressful situation, but within a day or two, Jeannie was able to secure another venue that still fit our requirement and negotiated to allow us to bring our own caterer so we didn't lose any deposit. We had to move our wedding date a day back because of the venue availability, but Jeannie seamlessly coordinated with all of our vendors to accommodate the change. Our wedding day went seamlessly. Jeannie and her assistant Mandy were on top of things the entire day, and walked us through the tea ceremony, ceremony and reception. Since they are all also fluent in Mandarin, they were able to communicate with our older relatives on various logistics, which really helped took things of our plate and we actually were able to relax and enjoy the day. Mandy, who has hair and makeup experience, even helped with my veil and dress, and helped our photographer distract some of the kids to cooperate during group photos. Our family and friends told us how well everything came together and couldn't believe that we were able to pull it off with a new venue in less than two months. Jeannie and her team went above and beyond for our wedding day. We only had our venue, catering, and photography booked four months before our wedding, and needed some serious help. We reluctantly decided to put in a little extra for month-of wedding coordination services, and boy did that go a long way. Our wedding day was extremely smooth, and everything was perfect! *Month-of Wedding Coordination This was not really just month-of. Jeannie started recommending us vendors based on our budget long before. We took her recommendations for our florist, audio/visual, and cake/desserts, and she helped with all of our communications with vendors. Since we moved to the bay area in the middle of wedding planning, Jeannie video chatted with us to make sure nothing was miscommunicated, and responded to us right away whenever we needed changes made to our timeline. Most importantly, we had a lot of gaps in knowledge about weddings in general, such as tea ceremony, and Jeannie helped fill those in and bring additional items to help us out. She knew exactly what to recommend, and always gave us options to switch things up if we wanted to. Booking the wedding coordination service completely took away the stress of wedding planning. We could focus on smaller details of the wedding knowing that we were in good hands. *Day-of Wedding Coordination I was extremely impressed by Jeannie's team. She brought in her own assistants, and they were complete life-savers. We started off by giving them all of our decorations at the rehearsal, and the next day, everything was magically set up at the ceremony and reception. We had no idea what to do for the tea ceremony, but Jeannie brought in all the decorations and props, and her assistants guided us through the entire process. Throughout the day, they were running around making sure our vendors coordinated with each other (and I'm sure I missed out on a lot of details here), helping me put on my bustle, stealthily picking up all 100+ ping pong balls we dropped at one of our games, and making sure everything was seamless. At the end of the day, our timeline went exactly as planned, and I did not have to worry about a thing. When we got back to our hotel room, all of our decorations and clothing were neatly packed up in boxes, ready for us to take home the next day. *Officiant The day before, Jeannie and her team guided our entire bridal party of 14 through the entire ceremony process. She showed us where to stand, what hand to use, how to walk, etc. On the day of, she kept it short and simple, just as we wanted, and then jumped out of the frame as the photographers started taking pictures. *MC Our crowd was young. We had three relatives tables, and ten friend tables. Jeannie knew exactly how to work the crowd. She introduced our relatives in their Cantonese/Chinese names, and made sure everyone felt included. My dad gave a speech in Mandarin, and Jeannie helped translate it for our guests who didn't understand. She worked closely with us for all the games we played, and even executed a mishmash of a ping-pong-booty-shaking-danceoff game that we suggested perfectly. Our guests loved her, and we received many compliments throughout the night on how fun the activities that Jeannie hosted were! *DJ We had DJ Ray at our wedding and he was the BEST! I believe I heard every single song we had given him to play. We allowed each guest to recommend three songs and basically handed Ray a giant playlist. He was able to (within a day or so) figure when to play each song, either at cocktail hour, reception, or the awkward gaps in between. Jeannie is very organized and she followed the schedule on time. She had good games which i never seen it on other weddings and she can somehow get everyone engaged. During the dancing, It was the first time i saw about 90% of the guests went along the dancing game...
