Honestly, this is really ridiculous, we went in for a routine annual well checkup--and then got hit with an extra charge afterward. They told us it was because, at the end of the appointment, the doctor asked if we had any concerns. We casually mentioned our child has occasional constipation, and the doctor gave some very basic advice--eat more fruits and vegetables, cut back on starch, that's it. And somehow that turned into an extra charge of $262. That's what really shocked me. Is Allegro so desperate to make money? It feels like during a standard checkup--something you assume is fully covered--you're almost being prompted to bring up questions, only to get charged for it afterward without any warning. Had my little about 3 yrs ago and did extensive amount of research into where and who my little saw as their primary DR as I have some unique health issues, and was worried about my little inheriting them as well so I wanted someone and somewhere that would be knowledgeable, experienced and equipped to handle unique care if needed- I landed on Allegro Pediatrics and Dr Shih is our primary but have seen 2 other providers when she was not available and have called the nurse like a handful of times and ever time iv had exceptional experiences- never made to feel like the "new mom" my worries were heard and not dismissed (coming from a complicated medical history this was a big worry) We ended up moving a few hrs away but we are unwilling to see another practice at this time and they are worth the 2 hr drive for peace of mind in the great care they have provided my family- read more

As many have stated, they will chare you for annual exam as well.During our child's annual exam, I casually asked the doctor about some mild allergy symptoms -- nothing outside of routine care -- and later discovered we were charged extra for it. When I called to clarify, the billing department insisted that "allergies are not part of an annual exam." The doctor mentioned it as respiratory infection and when I asked the billing lady , for the infection the doctor will tell us to buy OTC allergy medicines then she changed her statement. This makes no sense -- what's the point of a well visit if you can't discuss your child's overall health concerns, including common issues like allergies? It feels like the annual exam only covers height, weight, and basic measurements, and anything beyond that turns into an additional charge. Many parents have stated the same concern. They just want to charge however it is possible. We saw Dr. Shih and will never see her again. I took my child to this clinic two days ago for bloodwork. The nurse's glove was torn and her index finger was exposed. After cleaning the site with an alcohol pad, she touched the spot again with her bare finger before inserting the needle. During the procedure, my child cried in pain, and the blood draw stopped halfway without being completed. Today we found a noticeable mark on my child's arm. Don't ask any questions when you go for well child. Make sure the doctor doesn't do any evaluation outside of well child check up. They do charge for it. I'd give zero star if I could. During the well child check-up, the doctor ask if we have any question and we're charged $73 because -- 1. my son asked a question - which we didn't even get evaluated for but told him we could come back to get evaluated more. 2. the doctor saw dry skin and advice he need more lotion during the exam 3. the mole on the back need attention For No.2 and 3, we didn't ask for the doctor's opinion. She just mentioned it during the exam. When I contacted the billing department, they informed me that any consultation with the doctor would incur a charge. While I am willing to pay for professional advice, it seems unethical and unprofessional to be charged for a response that "requires further evaluation". We've never encountered this issue before, and we've been seeing the same doctor for 10 years. I was wary of Allegro's reviews, but back in January this was one of only closest locations providing care, while the neighboring clinics temporarily closed due to COVID. We had met/chosen our current peds provider while at Overlake (so many affiliated to choose from) and have been very happy with our newborn care so far. No complaints so about the support staff (nurse/front desk) either as everyone we've encountered has been genuinely pleasant . The location is conveniently in Redmond Town Center with lots of parking available. Their check in process where you text them upon arrival and they tell which room to walk straight into is pretty cool and efficient IMO. The only hiccup so far was the clinic initially not confirming the insurance on file so we had to have them process claims again with the corrected info. Some past reviews reviews have mentioned difficulties making an appointment, but luckily it has not been an issue as I try to schedule things in advance as much as possible. I'm sure months ago (and still currently), like many other healthcare facilities, they've been feeling the fallout of COVID and how crappy the economic workforce has been. read more

I've had it with Allegro. We've been partnered well with them for half a decade, but things have built up over the years, leading us to leave this clinic. Never in my life did I think pediatric well-child visits would cause this much anxiety and frustration and be so costly with their recommendations. Overall I think the care as a whole is extremely lacking. 1. It's nearly impossible to get someone on the phone. I've had to call back multiple times and be on hold for sometimes 45 mins to get someone to answer. I've had to drive into the office make an appointment because it was faster than phone/online and I could talk to someone immediately. 2. Leaving a call back number/hold space in line is false. You'll never get a call back. 3. There are some good doctors, but there are bad ones. If you just go in randomly and get placed with a new doctor, who knows if you get one who'll give you the care that you're aligned with. Then they guilt you into going with their recommendation even if you're not comfortable with it for your child. 4. They don't fully consider the impact of their recommendations or assessments on the families cost-wise (like parents must grow money trees in their backyards) or side-effects on the child and caretakers. 5. The continuity of care is extremely disconnected. One doctor's recommendation might differ from others. 6. Their Billing Department is predatory! They are extremely not empathetic and offers no customer-centric solutions. One attendant even compared care of my child to servicing their car. They were charging us for a service we had never agreed to and our visit was even "canceled" by our doctor. When I advocated for different solutions to remove the charge, she just kept saying no. She offered no resolution of her own and proceeded to hang up when I asked her for what else we could do to resolve this? There are many other poor experiences as well, newborn hospital visits, vaccination sign ups, etc. Many things could have been better overall. I'm sick of this clinic and with multiple children, we refuse to have to come in every few months to be subjected to this time and time again. read more

I'm very disappointed by their predatory billing practices. We went for our son's 15 month well visit, which should be free with our (and most people's) insurance. First of all, our doctor spent so little time with us during the appointment - she was in and out in a few minutes, leaving too little time for substantive questions. Our pediatrician asked about our son's speech. That topic elicited a little concern, which was a fair assessment. She gave us 2-3 tips and said we'd reassess at his 18-month appointment about possible speech therapy. Allegro Pediatrics then charged us a special consultation fee for that! To be clear, we didn't ask about speech concerns and our pediatrician didn't offer any speech therapy or refer us to speech therapy. Essentially, they charged us extra for basic tips we didn't even ask for. Upon receiving our bill, we followed up about the extra charge. They explained the above. We asked for them to remove the charge and they refused. This type of practice will cause parents to be too afraid to ask questions about their child's health. (Which, to be clear again, we didn't even initiate the topic of his speech.) It's inappropriate and I'm very disappointed. read more

They used to be really great before COVID; and it used to be possible to get appointments on time and also get their support staff on phone or online for medicine renewals and vaccination records. However, since COVID, they've gone down the drain. First, their online appointment scheduler doesn't work. Some software engineer left unchecked bugs in it and the administration hasn't done anything about it for years! Second, its incredibly hard to get their staff on phone; and they have several predatory practices e.g. asking for re-appointment even to refill asthma medicine! You go in, and the doctor just externally looks at the kid, makes their couple hundred dollars, and orders the refill! Third, their COVID-related precautions are still in place, which means that if you're reaching out for an appointment for a cough, you can only be seen at one of the many locations and only get an appointment several weeks in the future!! Altogether, the doctors are nice; but the practice seems to have been taken over by an incredibly incompetent and greedy owner. read more

I would say there are positives and negatives to this place. If I could rank them fairly, in my opinion, it would be 3.5 stars. I ultimately didn't choose this place for my daughter bc it felt like a factory of doctors. When I brought her here, it seemed like they wanted us to come in for the smallest things. We wanted to get vaccinated for the flu before a travel and they wanted us to book an appointment w a dr to get this done. It seemed like a waste of money. My daughter was also misdiagnosed here by one of the drs where she said her fever would go away after two days but it didn't. I had to take my daughter to Seattle children's urgent care. It was frustrating. However the positives are that you can practically almost get an appointment the day of and they are opened on the weekends. They also have a few really great doctors that take the time to answer all your questions. Had good and bad experiences. read more

The doctor and nurses are really nice. There's a guy called "Amean" or a name started with an "A" who works in the lab on 1/20/2024 around 11:30am ruined the experience. He treated baby very rudely. We were here to get the blood drawn. He directed me to hold the baby in "burping" position. I use sitting position which is different from he expected. He directed me again impatiently. Then he poked the baby without any notification to the parents. I couldn't observe what he was doing because I was holding the baby in the direction that he directed and the blanket covered my sight. But I can tell the blood coming out much faster than all the other places I had visited for the baby blood draw ( we had 3 times experience) His glove even has some blood on it too. Baby started crying crazily right away. My tear came out to see how much pain the baby is holding. The whole experience from this guy doesn't have any greetings, just directions and cruel. Recently chose this location for my son's pediatric office. It is located in Redmond Town Center on the top floor and you can easily park right out front. With COVID it's a bit confusing as sometimes they only let 1 caregiver in for the appointment and some times we were allowed 2 but I assume that's just changes that are happening with the changing rules of COVID. Anyway, we had to go in a few times for some extra check ups for my son and weren't able to see his normal pediatrician due to timing so we've seen a few doctors here and everyone has been really good and has had good table-side manor. The facilities are nice and clean and they are taking COVID precautions seriously which I appreciate with a small baby. This location is closed weekends and holidays but you can go to their Bothell location if needed. read more

I'm surprised Allegro has any patients at all, because it is a full time commitment to get an appointment scheduled. They have an online scheduler that has never worked (and even has a note a top saying "some people have trouble with this, so try multiple times then call us). And if you call for an appointment be prepared to stay on the line for a very long time, also with a disclaimer that they "are experiencing high call volume". This has been happening for years before the pandemic, so it's not just the shortage of staff that so many places are currently suffering from. Updating my review to say Allegro is determined to provide the worst patient experience possible. After they accidentally canceled my child's first appointment and could only offer an appointment months later despite the fact that I had scheduled the appointment months in advance, I rescheduled online. I then received a call from patient relations apologizing for the first incident but saying the appointment I had rescheduled was actually unavailable. I asked for a similar time frame for an appointment that was sooner rather than later and was offered appointments for anything but the time frame requested. I was finally able to get something scheduled only to find out when I tried to confirm it too had been canceled in error. The only response I got from the rep on the phone was a flippant "uh sorry you can email patient relations or just reschedule." When I explained the situation she said, "So you don't want to reschedule?". This used to be a really great practice and I'm disappointed by the decline over the years. read more

My kid was sent home from school due to illness. I called allegro and was told they had no open appointments in the Bellevue clinic. I asked about other Allegro clinics and was told he was required to go to the Bellevue clinic as he was sick, which had no appointments. Apparently the many other clinics are only for healthy kids, but if your kid actually needs medical attention then you have very limited options. This is incredibly frustrating as the time you need them the most is when they drop you. I took him to urgent care instead where he was promptly seen and treated. Allegro has gone downhill over the last few years. I do not recommend them. read more

The doctor we visited dont seem to know anything. They said they will contact us after our child's radiology report comes back to see if a cast was needed. The nurse just left a voicemail saying that they never received any reports. We were told that in case cast was needed we had to go to Seattle children's. We tried calling Seattle children's and they had received the radiology reports. No nurse from allegro called us to update on the reports. I could have directly gone to Seattle children's instead of wasting time and money here. I feel this is all a scam to get insurance money without providing any service. read more

My two kids have been seeing Dr Jill Brubaker here for years. We adore her! She is unbelievably respectful of their privacy and independance (one kid is entering puberty. PRAY FOR ME!), and Dr Jill insists, once a kid is 13, then the parents have to wait outside, so the patient can talk openly with her, and she assured my child about dr-patient confidentiality laws. I really respedted that! After all, if my kid is uncomfortable talking to me about ANYTHING, I HOPE she goes to Dr Jill, where at least I know she'll get correct information. About nine or ten years ago or so, and earlier, we went to the pediatric doctors' practice next door to Pediatric Associates and, although we liked the dr there, the staff never returned our calls or passed on our messages to our dr. Since I had an infant at the time then, this was an intolerable situation for us, so we moved to Dr Jill's practice next door. And that was a godsend to us, as the staff at PA has always been receptive to us, and have always responded to our calls and addressed our concerns. The few times that Dr Jill was unavailable, we saw other doctors there in the practice, and we liked them all. I also like how their Bellevue office is open on Saturdays, if there's need to be seen then. read more

The Redmond office is new and renovated from the lobby to the exam rooms everything is super updated and clean. The reason why my husband and I keep coming back to this location is because of Dr. Lui. Dr. Lui never makes us feel rushed, is very attentive and easy going. During cold and flu season we ended up being frequent flyers here and we always left at ease. Whenever my mom friends and I talk about well-child checks I am shocked when they bring up their pediatrician only spends 5 minutes with them. Dr Liu always takes his time and it is obvious he loves to work with kids. Dr. Liu thank you! read more

I have a 1.5 year toddler and took him twice to Allegro, as its the place everyone seems to take their kids. I found that their service is terrible: its hard to schedule an appointment - they are always busy, their front desk service refuses to assist or provide any help unless you call and have an appointment, their phone system for scheduling appointments is confusing, lengthy and usually leads to voicemail. As if none of that was enough, i took my baby for a blood test, and boy, the lab technician could not have been more brutal! He seemed upset, complete ignored my wife and as we asked him to let us calm our baby for a few minutes; he just twisted his little arms and sticked the needle and completely ignore us! I will never bring my kid there again and do not recommend this place to any parents! read more

Very bad experience with dr gorge. I called and brought my son in bc of rash. Doctor took a look and said nothing he could do and he didn't know why it happened and what caused the rash. Worst thing was the nurse didn't measure the temperature evan I requested twice!!!! Same day afternoon , my son had bad fever, I took him to Swedish urgent care , they took his booger and ran test, it was tami flu. They gave correct medicine. Do not recommend Allegro. My daughter is now almost 5 months old and they did not update her vaccine records in the state portal, so according to WA state, she has had no vaccines. Also, we switched to a new pediatric office and our new pediatrician has been waiting for WEEKS for our records to be shared with them, they have contacted allegro MULTIPLE times, and have not heard back. This is ridiculous and unacceptable and I'm so glad we transferred. read more

The key takeaway of my experience with Allegro today is Allegro doesn't take responsibilities of their own mistakes or insufficient support. I was late for my little girl's appointment this morning. Two reasons caused this late arrival. I was trying to fill out the Allegro check-in forms at home this morning. I completed over 10 pages of questions and in the end I landed at a page asking me to pay for a bill for last November. I had to go back to ask my husband what the bill was about. My husband was having his online work meeting and at the same time checked all the payment history. We found out in the end that this bill was already paid for. After the time spent on checking, the forms I just filled out were timed out. There was no option of saving the forms unless I paid for the bill again at that moment. Second thing causing the late arrival is that Allegro Redmond location does not have sufficient sign showing where the entrance is. Being a first time visitor of this location, I had a hard time finding the entrance. I spent time walking the entire block to find the right entrance. In the end I was late 16 minutes for my appointment. And the receptionist told me that we couldn't see the doctor today and had to reschedule. I tried hard to explain to the receptionist that the Allegro system didn't update payment correctly, not allowing me to complete the check in forms without paying again and not giving first time visitor more support finding the entrance quickly. My appointment was still cancelled. It was the worst medical experience I had ever had. I have to find time to pull out my 2nd grade girl from school again if I want to see the doctor. Overall, try your best to avoid Allegro. They won't hesitate to let the patient and their family to pay for the price of their problems. read more

The staff are great. I'm putting only 3 stars because the new check in process is horrible and I won't be coming back. They've turned their courteous receptionists into data entry people and are forcing their clients to also do data entry. While our kids need attention we're expected to be on our phones, checking ourselves in, updating all of our own information, and making payments. Additionally, the new check in system wouldn't let me make my payment for my copay. The net result is that receptionists are forced to shoo everyone away to their phones. I moved to Washington and started at Pediatric Associates of Bellevue. If I were reviewing that location it'd be 1 star. Maybe. We moved our family to Redmond and were searching for a new pediatrician when our 1 year old shoved a crayon up her nose. We went to P.A. Redmond as an emergency, only to learn they scheduled my appointment at Bellevue because, "that's where you always go, we thought you said Redmond by mistake." Dr. George fit us in anyway, despite not having a real "appointment." He is simply the best thing since sliced bread. He takes the time to listen, tell you what you're doing right as a parent, an what to look for. He explains what you're going to see as your child improves, and what to look for in case they get worse. And the best part? He comes in, plops on the floor and talks with the kids. They matter to him. He has gotten on all fours and played dogs with my daughter. My girls adore him. Even with a 104.5 degree fever, my 3 year old is so excited to see Dr. George. If the world had more pediatricians like him, we might all wish to never grow up. read more

We've been going to this office since we moved to the area about 2 years ago. We've never had a problem getting an appointment, and they're usually able to fit us in same day. We're not usually able to see our primary doctor (as she's very popular), but for a sick visit - we'll take what we can get. The well checks just have to be scheduled far in advance depending on who you want to see. We've seen most of the doctors at this location by now, and we've never had a bad experience. No insurance issues, no drama. The front desk staff has always been very nice and helpful. I agree with one of the other reviewers about the Bellevue office... it was pretty terrible. I was a little shocked they were affiliated with the Redmond office (which is much nicer). I actually live in Bellevue now, but I drive the extra few miles to go to the Redmond office. read more

We have taken our son here since birth and we're five star fans of Dr. Tracy Schmitz! When I first called here to interview pediatricians I was unsure of who to pick. I selected one from the profile and then scheduled an additional interview w/ Dr. Schmitz on the receptionists recommendation. I have worked in a clinic in the past and I have to say, one of the best ways to get a good recommendation is to ask the front desk who they'd want to see. Dr. Schmitz is amazing. She listens to us as parents, respects our medical care choices (some of which are alternative) and works with us to get the best care for our son. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because not all the docs are up to the same standard. However, everyone has been nice the few times we have needed to come in for a non-routine visit and they even worked my son in during their lunch hour one day when he fell and hit his head. Overall I like this clinic but I'd recommend Dr. Schmitz first and foremost! read more

The nurse spent enough time to collect and update all information. The doctor was immediately behind her. He was cheerful and comprehensive. Next the lab tech. My kids have been seeing Dr. George since 2008. He is engaged, smart, really great with the kids, and everything I could ever hope for in a pediatrician. As a parent he listens and asks great questions, but even better he asks the KIDS questions, and the way he talks to them, they really engage and respond. Allegro has gone so downhill that I am already looking for another doctor. It's NEAR impossible getting an appointment these days, sick or not. Even booking an appointment, it's impossible. It took me 3 days to even get ahold of a human being so that they could help, and even then - I couldnt get anything help and was referred to "hannah" who also seems busy to get to her phone. My autistic kid needs a flu mist since she cannot handled shot, and apparently they don't offer it for private insurance, which makes no sense to me. I was referred to "my local pharmacy" but they dont have any, so basically I am out of options. I also tried to book my kids yearly well check appointment, and they are completely booked 3 months after their birthday. I cannot even access their records because they changed at one point, and never sent us our new login. I tried and requested 3 times to get a new login, and still nothing. Honestly that's what happens when they start treating it as a business venture, instead of caring for their patients. I loved my doctor over there but it's not worth this much hassle read more

Update: I tried to call this number that Allegro provided at the end of my first comment twice to talk about my experience however no one answered the phone! I had to visit this place again this time with another provider. These guys don't even know the basics! She washed her hands for the exam for my one month old baby and took two tissues to dry her hands. One of them fell on the floor. She dried hands with the first one and bent over towards the one on the floor. I thought ok she wants to throw that in the trash but she died her hands with that one too!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! In such a place filled with virus and bacteria from sick childs and vulberable newborn!!! You dont even care about not spreading the germs!!!!! Also, lets say searching on the internet helped me more than the knowledge of these doctors. No one from this clinic told me about possibility of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance for sturdy diaper rash and fussiness of my baby until I resolved it by myself by looking up on google. I chose Allegro based on people recommendation. Let's say first visit with my newborn, they were hesitant to give me diapers to change him and he got bruise on his little face near his eyes after nurse done his vitals! I love Dr. George and Dr. Brubaker. They take the time to explain the whys and wherefores and the options for you (especially Dr. George, who seems to be a bit of a statistics and probabilities nerd). Dr. Brubaker's nurse is the nicest nurse I've met in years. I'm sure they see babies all day but they always seem to have a smile and enthusiasm for all those boring well-baby check questions. I haven't had anything major arise yet with my little girls but the nurse call back turnaround is excellent, and I have always been able to get a same-day appointment when I needed it (if not at the Redmond location, at the Bellevue one).
