Alleia was recommended by some friends so we came to celebrate my husband's birthday. All around wonderful experience. We went early on a Wednesday evening so had no problems parking next to their enclosed patio. We sat indoors in a booth. Nice, cozy ambiance. Amy our server was very helpful in answering questions, attentive and friendly. There are varied and interesting menu items. We ordered 3 antipasti: ricotta bruschetta with truffle honey (could be a dessert!) Arancini, crisp and delicious; and bacon-wrapped dates, which were almost addicting! We shared a large and refreshingly crisp salad that includes prosciutto, fennel & pistachios in a citrus vinaigrette. Our two main meals were from the Primi dishes. All pasta is made in house daily and you definitely could tell! 1) Pappardelle cooked in a braised veal sauce - reminded me of a sauce my mom (100% Italian) used to cook when I was younger. 2) Gnocchi with chicken sausage in a light sauce. We could taste quality fresh ingredients in everything we ordered, and all cooked dishes came out hot and delicious. The main dishes were generous so we boxed up half of both so we could try dessert. We chose Tiramisu which was served in a glass and was creamy and rich. They also brought my husband a scoop of blackberry buttermilk sorbet for a birthday treat - a great palate cleanser and made us want to try their other sorbet flavors but we were too stuffed. I'm so glad I stopped at Alleia! I made reservations somewhere else, did not have a good time was walking by and decided to go in. I lucked out that a couple was just leaving because you definitely need reservations. They're also taking the pandemic very seriously so there's less space to accommodate walkins. I sat at the bar which is spaced out. Alleia is an Italian restaurant with authentic cuisine and a coherent well developed menu. I was already stuffed so I stuck with cocktails which were delicious. The service was excellent from the hostess to the bar staff. Also the venue itself is gorgeous! They have some booths with curtains for privacy; lounge and proper dining chairs; and a pretty covered patio. Definitely add it to your list! read more

Appetizer down the drain -- they say they will box it up for you BUT THEY DO NOT PUT IT IN THE BAG FOR YOU TO TAKE HOME and Alleia did not answer her phone when we attempted to talk to reconcile the situation The chef du jour was heavy on the salt and Randy's heart Dr said he mustn't dabble in such commodities Basil gelato took me baxk to my good okd days in ROME ask for your entries to be spicy and rhey will comply The most teeth clenching toe gripping part of the nite was the cuple next to us. Rnady ans i hypothesized that it was a first date on account of the "man" being smitten and the "lady" being annoyed. But then lo and behold it was their anniversady so make of that what you will! I came from out of town with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday in Chattanooga. I looked up this restaurant and made reservations well and advance. The restaurant was beautiful inside and the service was A plus. I had a large group it was seven of us and there was no problem seating us at all. Since it was so many of us we all decided to get basically one of each appetizer and share family style. Every single one of the appetizers that we got was amazing. We got the mussels , arancini, calamari, ricotta bruschetta, bacon wrapped dates and truffle flatbread. You will not go wrong trying any of these appetizers. I think my favorite was the bacon wrapped dates and the truffle flatbread but to be honest all of them were amazing it's really hard to rate. And then when we got our entrées a couple of us got the pork shoulder which is what I got. It was very tender and the vegetables underneath complimented well with the dish. A couple of my friends got the brace short rib and it was also really good I tried a little bit of it. Again very tender broccolini was delicious. I have one friend that got it with roasted potatoes and the other Fran got it with mashed potatoes good either way. And then I had a couple of friends get the gnocchi. It was also very good served with a white wine sauce. Not overpowering at all very delicious. All of my friends were very impressed with this restaurant. We all left very full very happy and with to go plates. This restaurant was so good that I wouldn't make the two hour trip to come back and just eat here. The only thing that I didn't like is that they box your food up for you and they took everybody's food to the back at the same time. And I was worried that food would get mixed up because so many of us had sort of the same thing. And that's exactly what happened to me and a friend who had the same thing got back to our hotel room and noticed that that wasn't the amount of food they had left over so my thing would be just bring the box out to me and let me box my own food. 10/10! read more

Fabulous as ALWAYS. I have been a loyal guest at Alleia for years and am impressed every single time I visit. This is my favorite date night spot in Chattanooga. The vibe is perfect for any occasion, can be a casual night out (jeans & a top) or a more "dressy" spot too. It's completely your preference and the experience doesn't feel like it only fits one crowd. The food is phenomenal. All of their starters are incredible but the bacon wrapped dates and the ricotta bruschetta are MUST HAVES. For entrees. I tend to gravitate towards the pork shoulder (in the summer they serve it with a peach and it's delicious!). My husband tends to try a new pasta each time we go. He enjoyed the papparadelle, but noted it was a little difficult to eat due to the noodle texture (I'm assuming this is because the pasta is made in house?) We ALWAYS get dessert here (not usually big dessert goers) and I never regret the extra calories! We got the flourless chocolate cake this time with the cinnamon gelato and I could quite literally eat that every. single. day. If you are a native in the area and haven't tried Alleia- you're insane. If you're visiting- this should be your first dinner stop! read more

Appetizers: Hand Dipped Ricotta Bruschetta, Truffle Honey Arancini(excellent), Benton's Bacon Wrapped Dates(my favorite), Margherita Flatbread was very good. Excellent Ceaser Salad with anchovies, with second dish of Penne Bolognese(very good Bolognese in fact best I have had in TN). If I lived in Chattanooga this would be my go-to for a romantic evening out. The design was beautiful, fully integrated .I actually walked around to see the art and sculpture. Our server was great- explained even portion sizes which enabled us to share and try more things. This seems to be a place where the chef may try new things but if you can get the strawberry bruschetta w asparagus do it. our pasta was wonderful and the caesar salad was easily split. read more

My husband and I tried Alleia for the 2nd time. First time was ok, but wanted to give it another shot. We made reservations for 5:45pm. We arrived at 5:30pm and they opened at 5pm. We walked in and immediately smelled dirty dishwater. Not the first thing you want to smell when walking into a nice restaurant for date night. We were sat immediately and the table was sticky. Not a great start. Our food was fine. Had mussels, gnocchi and pizza. The brightest spot of the dinner was our waitress. She was fantastic with a great knowledge of the menu and suggestions based on our questions. After 2 tries, I don't think we will be returning. read more

The only reason I'm not giving them a five is because they're building is almost impossible to find. Located right downtown Chattanooga, and there is zero signage. Just a dark building with a letter a on it, not even lit up. Resulting on a nice walking in 15 minutes later than our reservation time, and hence our reservation was canceled. And we had to wait. Not long, but it's irritating that they can't put out a sign. Even their front door is very hard to find. The service was top-notch. The noise level was over the top loud. Nothing intimate about it. Waitstaff could not have been better. The food was just OK. When making reservations with this restaurant they give you an opportunity to mention your allergies. Don't bother filling them out because they don't pay any attention to it. My dining guest was only able to find a simple cheese pizza because they could not accommodate her allergies. read more

Positives: Manager Jesse did a great job of working with me to coordinate plans for my daughter's baby shower here. Food served the night of the event was delicious. Service was very good - our server did a great job of keeping the event flowing with orders and food, and keeping glasses full. Everyone was served their courses at the same time as everyone else...no one was left waiting on their food. Negatives: I dropped off two flower arrangements 3-4 hrs prior to the event. When we arrived at 5:30pm, the flowers were brown and dead. I have no idea what happened. They hardly resembled the fresh flowers I picked up at the florist earlier that day. I also dropped off three mylar balloons with the flowers. Only two made it to the table. What happened to the third? It was agreed that tea candles would be added to the table to make it look festive. There were none on the table. The server brought out large candles halfway through the final course. I am at a loss as to why I was told that when we added an additional person late in the planning that we could not increase the size of the table to accommodate the group and told it would be very cramped when the patio area was 3/4 empty that evening. Just made for a stressful situation prior to the event. Overall: While the restaurant did a great job with the service and food, it was lacking in the execution of the plans for the event and fell short of my expectations. I probably would not have another event or large special group here again but I would eat here in a small group for dinner. read more

And it doesn't serve bread unless you ask for it - which is first for me in an Italian restaurant. Skip this place and head to Olive Garden. Also they should BUY SOME SIGNAGE for the front of the building. It's not so exclusive that everyone "knows" how to get in. We almost left bc we couldn't find the entrance. Alleia is all class with modern wood decor, moody lighting, and elegant light fixtures. I on the other hand was not very classy, as I strolled in for a post-work meal in shorts and a t-shirt. I definitely wasn't as dressed up as the other patrons. However that didn't affect the quality of my meal, solid modern italian cuisine. I order a dish of conchiglie, gulf shrimp, soffritto cremoso, and calabrian chile off their seasonable menu. The dish came in a large portion with enough shrimp and carbs to make me a very happy customer. Next time I'm looking for a fancy meal in the 'noog Alleia will be on my list. Also perhaps next time I'll try and wear some jeans or something so I don't stick out like a sore thumb. Pro-Tip: There's complimentary valet in case street parking becomes an issue. read more

It is dark inside but it adds a little je ne sais quoi to your date night. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates, calamari and caesar salad for appetizers and may i say those dates were the best thing i've ever had. For our entrees we got the braised short rib and the penne with bolognese sauce. Both were to die for. I did like the short rib better than the pasta but still great dishes. Now the dessert is what really blew me out of the water. Correction. The tiramisu was the best thing i ever had at this place. The menu is seasonal and the standout on this visit was the Butternut Squash Ravioli with crab and poblano in a brown apple butter sauce. No idea how all those flavors work together but they do!
