For a town seeping with chain food restaurants and fast food joints, this was a refreshing find in Allen! I went for breakfast with my dad and my two sons. I was a little skeptical because the price points for the appearance of the place seemed a bit high, but the quality of the food was definitely there. Located in the Downtown Allen pass the tracks you'll find this small diner. Decided to try out their lunch specials so I got the grilled chicken sandwich. Comes with fries and soup for $6. The grilled chicken sandwich was decent, something I can make at home. The bread was soft and fries were mediocre... All in all the place was ok but I didn't expect much from a cafe/diner. I want to try their breakfast and might give them another try. Can't miss on a great deal for some decent food. Better than going to fast food places. Great place with friendly servers. The owner was there and she was so involved in seating and helping- such a hard working woman. Looks like she's building a fantastic place. Food was delicious and atmosphere was perfect for a cafe. We got the greek and texas omelette. Both were great. Kids got pancakes and French toast. They are it all. Bacon cooked to perfection. We love going to Allen Cafe for breakfast on the weekends. We have been several times, and the service is always great, the food is always fresh, and the wait is generally not too long. We really like their coffee, and the portion sizes are awesome. I've never left hungry, but I'm rarely over-stuffed either. I love the family feel of this diner. This place gets really busy on weekend mornings, so you have to plan to wait. The food isn't spectacular, but it's comfortably delicious, reminds you of mom's home cooking! The staff is extremely nice, as you would find in mom and pop diner. I can't say enough good things about this place. I've been there when I have walked right in, even on a Saturday... That was right before quarantine 2020, so the word was out, and maybe people were staying home. Because they are typically really busy, and we've had to wait. But even so, the wait is worth it because the food is delicious and the portions are huge. And they are willing to put anything together that your heart desires. Delicious! Even though they were super busy we were sat and served our food within 20 minutes. Bacon was awesome (lean and not over done), Cinnamon French Toast is a fantastic treat! Iasked for eggs over medium and they actually got them correct. No one else seems to understand what that is. Coffee was hot- not too strong and not too weak. Heck even the water was good- I could tell it was actually filtered- it didnt have that nasty city water flavor we have around here. This was our second time here. We came on a Saturday hoping for brunch, or a really late breakfast. It wasn't late enough. Of course, there was a wait of about 30 minutes. No big deal. If you go at s time when most places are busy, you're going to have to wait. We finally sat at a little after 11am. At 11:30, there was no waiting. The breakfast is good ol' home style comfort food. I had the Denver Omelet and was not displeased. My son ordered the Super Burger. He complained about the bun because it was slightly imperfect but it all went down quickly. My wife ordered the Texas Omelet but couldn't finish it. Too much for her. My youngest son (10) ordered the Texas Breakfast but that defeated him as well. I ended up eating one of his pancakes and all of his eggs. Lucky I was hungry. My wife could make all this at home but isn't that the beauty of going out to eat? I got a blueberry pancake and one breakfast burrito. The pancake had lots of blueberries. It was more chewy than Cakey. Tasty and I ate all of it. About eight inches in diameter. The burrito was egg and potatoes and cheese. The potatoes were hash browns that were shredded. Different but not bad Tasty. Needed a little salt. Good hearty breakfast for locals. The turnaround is quick and the food is always hot, fresh and delicious. Got a special request or addition to your meal? No problem. The menu selection has many different types of options. The pancakes and French toast are excellent. The batter and syrup have a great, almost vanilla taste. Definitely not heat and eat! OK, time to re-evaluate The Allen cafe after the latest meal. A couple of negatives that need mentioning, but they're not gonna cost a star, yet. Hash Browns - At least they weren't overly greasy. They were, however, room temperature. Hash browns are simple, cook em and serve em hot. Slightly more difficult than boiling water or making toast. Inexcusable. Biscuits - Any frozen (Mary B's come to mind) or even some of the better canned ones (Grands) would have been preferable. Again, a breakfast joint serving precooked and warmed biscuits at, again, room temperature ain't gonna cut it. The rest of the meal was commendable and really, the bacon, eggs and pancakes are what really count. Guys, we love ya but come on, the sides need to be at least average so let's pick those up a tad ok? read more

We went based on previous yelp reviews and I must say it was disappointing. After a good wait placed at table near restrooms took a good amount of time to get acknowledged. We saw people seated after us get service first. When she finally showed up service was rushed. We had to go ask for creamer and once we got food never saw service again until she brought a check. If you like breakfast as much I do, Allen Cafe should be on your "A" list. I was greeted prompt and warmly by the host. As I looked at the crowd of folks waiting I was thinking "awe man". But nope! Since I was flying solo I was sat right away. They were all part of a large group. My server D'anna was on point! No waiting for her. Speaking of no waiting, my food was served piping hot within 4-5 minutes after I ordered! Not only was it was correct, it was delicious! Additionally the coffee is very good. I thought we were in for a Magnolia Cafe experience, what with all the people always here. We finally made it in on a not so busy day, early enough I guess to beat the usual Sunday traffic. The food was OK. The Menu didn't offer anything special. The seating was tight; tables up against other tables makes for an awkward experience.
