We visited based on Yelp's recommendations and we were not disappointed! Excellent service, friendly staff and an owner who wants to be sure his customers are pleased with their meal. The ribs were delicious, chicken was a real treat since we don't normally eat fried food, potatoes and cole slaw both were so much better than the frozen/bulk stuff served elsewhere. We ordered plenty for leftovers and we're glad we did. It's a pleasure to patronize a local eatery. It's a bit hard to find so I wish them well. If they were downtown Howell you would have to wait in line to get in. read more

We stopped here one day because my friend is named Ryan Alan Krebs. The name drew us in. I decided to give their soup a try since its my favorite treat. It was the most watered down flavorless broccoli soup I have ever had. No seasoning at all. Like colored water with chunks in it. Not impressed at all. The service, however, was great. Allen K Ryan's is a local family owned and operated restaurant. My husband and I spoke with one of the owners while the other owner cooked our amazing dinner. The best chicken, awesome ribs, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, real potato wedges, excellent cole slaw, tasty fresh bread, and yummy ranch! Everything we had was fresh and tasted amazing! The price was comparable or less then other chicken restaurants in this area and much better. We will definitely be back for more and to try the fish! Great job!! read more

Awesome! We had an annual event meeting with 14 people. Instead of our usual pizza and salad, my wife suggested getting broasted chicken and from Allen K Ryan's. We've had it twice before and knew we really liked it and knew others would. Well, it was a big hit and still talking about it weeks later. They raved on the taste of the chicken, nice that the potatoes were broasted and the flavor of the Cole slaw. Everything is made fresh before you get there. Packaged well and kept very warm. Great local place for broasted chicken and delicious sides. We've eaten in house once and gotten takeout once. They're chicken is so much better than any other place in town. Perfectly cooked every time. The potato wedges are always hot and delicious, the Cole slaw is some of the best I've ever had and everything tastes homemade. Also homemade ranch is the bomb, I don't even care you pay extra for it. I believe the woman at the cash register is also the owner or co-owner and she is never anything less than lovely. I am extremely disappointed in the disrespectful treatment this establishment has shown towards a disabled citizen who asked to use their restroom the other night and was denied, even after providing the appropriate documentation in line with the Restroom Access Act of Michigan. As a physician I find this particularly disturbing, and would hope that this business read up on this piece of legislation, as well as the disease that led to this act's creation-inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. read more

I, unfortunately, cannot eat at a business that posts political and social comments in their business that are offensive. Additionally, the food isn't particularly good -- the burgers are decent, but most of the rest of it comes from Gordon Food Service or similar bulk food services. Stopped in today for some barbeque after reading reviews on yelp. One review mentioned "best barbeque in the area" and I'd have to disagree based on my first meal. I ordered a 4 bone rib dinner with french fries and cole slaw to-go. After leaving I checked my bags to find no plasticware or napkins. I was going to eat roadside at a park, instead drove home. After grabbing a fork and knife I dig further into my meal. The French fries (only about 5 minutes old) are mushy and unsalted. The ribs had a lot of meat but it didn't make up for them being dry (I did see them heated on a flat top). Sauce on the ribs reminds me of a "happy's"-like bbq sauce-- Definitely not the "best". Cole slaw was also dried out on top with all the liquid at the bottom telling me that it has been prepped for at least a couple hours in the foam portion container. Maybe you get what you pay for? My meal plus a 20 oz Pepsi cost me just over $13. Apparently for The Best barbecue I will need to spend more on 4 bones. read more

We ordered a chicken meal, and a shrimp basket. Both with wedges but an order of onion rings and a tossed salad made up the other 2 sides. The chicken.... overcooked and flavorless. Left in the fryer entirely too long, every piece we had was darkened and dry. The dredge they used must be strictly flour not even a speck of black pepper to speak of.The wedges were completely flavorless as well, no spices or even salt , they tasted mostly of unwashed potatoes. The tossed salad was a $1.00 up charge for a side, it was so disappointing that my girlfriend didn't even eat a bite. Chopped yellow lettuce and 1 slice of tomato does not a salad make. The onion rings were just as the chicken, left in the oil until no moisture was present in them. And finally we come to the shrimp, probably the best of the group, though it doesn't take much to rise above such company, while not overcooked they were still not very good, "flavorless" was the review they were given by my girlfriend. Suffice to say, we will not be back unless a multitude of reviews show improvement. read more

We met friends there for lunch on a slow Monday afternoon. Howell was half way for each of us, so after reading so many other positive Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try, and I am glad we did. The broasted chicken was crispy, juicy and most of all delicious, as were the fall off the bones ribs (their sauce is homemade and really, really good). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed each of their meals. Since it was a slow Monday, I was happy to see the owner come out and greet our table and tell us his back story. I've got to agree with the other review. The broasted chicken here is simply the best chicken you will get in the area, bar NONE! Also, the broasted potato wedges are outstanding. Make sure you ask for them like that, as I asked for fries once and ended up with regular style french fries, which were still good, but nothing as heavenly as the broasted potato wedges, which are rich and hearty. The only other side I've had is the Cole Slaw, which I've been told is house made and it shows. It has good flavor to it and I'm always tempted to order an extra side of it. The prices are very reasonable. For what you'd spend at McDonalds for a Chicken McNuggets Vaue Meal, you can have a meal featuring REAL Chicken, GREAT potatoes and well substitiute the Cole Slaw for the drink, you get at Mickey D's with the Value Meal. Hey...Considering the quality of the food, it's a plain "No Brainer!" The owner and his wife are also very friendly and work tirelessly to make sure your visit is pleasant and you have everything you need. There ya go...Order up and enjoy! read more

Eek! Methinks not is right. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have not eaten here nor would I ever based on the experiance I had last night. I was with a friend who has a legitimate disability that requires frequent bathroom use. In a pinch we stopped at this place. He politely asked to use the public bathroom and was denied. At that point he explained his situation and presented the owner with documentation explaining his legal right to use the restroom as a disabled person. He was then given the third degree, asked a million questions and publicly humiliated in front of the other customers. In the end he never did get to use the facilities and we left confused and mad! I will never return to this place and I hope anyone reading this will think twice about giving their hard earned money this establishment that shows extreme ignorance and a total lack of compassion!
