We love the staff at Santa Fe Dental Group and have been going there for years. They are so sweet and take all precautions during covid ( texting and calling to confirm appts, prescreening you before for symptoms, taking temperatures, and a screening interview to ensure you don't have symptoms). When I came down with a cold they graciously rescheduled me to the following week when I was no longer sick just in case. We also have a lot of immunocompromised individuals in my household so they are able to a accommodate scheduling appts for first thing in the morning to avoid other patients as much as possible. All of the dental staff are wonderful and friendly and professional. We have always had good interactions and they are very budget friendly with dental charges. They have state of the art equipment and the facilities are very clean. Their hygienists are so nice and personable and do a great job. We have been going to this dentist office for a couple of years now and have no complaints. I have also referred my coworkers here. Also love that they have weekend hours. read more

Update: immediately after I posted a review on this business not giving me a refund for a service that was billed to my insurance, I received a call from Ashley who performed the refund herself and apologized for the delayed transaction. She mentioned that her front desk staff are training which is understandable, but still not tolerable for a 2 month delay of a refund. I'm not sure if there is an Office Manager, but having worked in a medical clinic with similar work responsibilities, a supervisor or manager should have watched over the trainee's work or followed up with them after performing a task to ensure it was done correctly. When I first came to this office it was for an exam to figure out what my options were, at first it didn't seem possible, but with the continuous care and concern from the staff I was finally able to get my concerns addressed. Santa Fe Dental Group is an outstanding group from all of the administrative help to the Dentists that staff the office. My wife and I have been going to them since 1986 when they were at Camp Pendelton. We would not go anyplace else. Just today I had an appointment with Dr. Vin Lee to put a cap back on that had fallen out. He did the work 15 years ago at Camp Pendelton Checked to make sure the tooth was OK and then put it back on with new adhesive. Really nice folks. Top of the line equipment. Open on Saturdays which is a big plus. But they try to upsell you on things you probably don't need. I was told I'd need a root canal on a tooth sooner than later. Even made the appointment. Staff in back were ok my 1st visit but ran about 30 minutes late so my cleaning took 2.5 hours total my 1st visit. We came in for the $49 special initial visit, my wife never went to her appointment as we came in 15 minutes late the 2nd time as I figured they'd be late again, the front office staff just told her they may/May not take her being late coming in at the lobby she rolled her eyes several times and copped an attitude so my wife left. The lobby chairs are stained and dirty looking around the front area is as well. My second visit there was a replacement hygienist as the 1st one was out on maternity leave (she was way better), the lady said my back crown was partially loose and had the dentist come in after he started yanking on it to get it off which made it come loose a little bit. Was told it could be fixed for $1800, got a copy of X-rays and started looking into dentist in Mexico. Prices are WAY less & heard service is pretty good. The back area was clean and they used sterile equipment, location is kind of seedy I would not recommend going. read more

I will have to finally write a review about this place that I went to a long time ago for some emergency dental work. I had previously been to this place once and I felt that the work that was done was pricey but well done and decided to go back when I was suffering from an infected cavity. After I was examined by the friendly staff I was pulled into a room that had both the main dentist and some guy who came off as a Salesman from the start. I was told about severity of my problem and since I was in a lot of pain I believed every ounce of it and they told me how much thousands it was going to be to fix all my issues and how I had months before something became much worse. I know I'm no dentist but I felt like they really embellished my issues. At the time my financial situation was not very good and they went over with a fine-tooth comb through my credit and all my financial options pay them the near $10,000 that I was going to need to fix everything. When the options for paying them seem to have ran out they even went as far as suggesting that I sold my belongings like my car. The nerve!!!! Regardless to say I never came back despite my problems and went somewhere else where I didn't feel pressured to spend. BTW, they never stop sending mail to your home even after years of not going. read more

After my initial visit to this dental office never did I imagine I would be writing a negative review. The office staff was beyond friendly, the place was clean and very high tech. They took extra precautions during X-rays due to me being pregnant, and seemed over all so genuine. I went in due to some tooth pain as a result of a cracked tooth (it had been cracked for years but never bothered me). After doing a set of X-rays I was told I needed a root canal .. fine. A week later, at my second visit (for a cleaning) I get pulled into the office by Romero, to go over the X-rays, pricing and payment options for the root canal. The whole experience felt very much like buying a car - dealing with a (sleazy) car sales man using scare tactics to sell you on booking the procedure on the spot and even trying to hard close the sale by asking how you'd like to pay that measly $1300, cash or credit? (I worked in sales dude, I know how these things work). I was told I had an infection at the root (and was shown a area of the X-ray that he said was the infection - keep reading and you'll learn he was wrong... that is my sinus cavity!) and was even drawn a diagram showing the path of the infection from my tooth, into my jaw, thru all my vital organs and to my unborn child (he tried hard with the guilt card). When I declined to schedule immediately, I was asked when I would be calling back and told he'd follow up if I didn't call... and he did.. twice, each encounter more awkward and pushy the the previous. After getting that weird vibe from it all, I went for TWO second opinions showing them the very X-rays that this dental office took (they were kind enough to email them to me) .. and low and behold, neither dentist saw any sign of infection or need for a root canal (and certainly not an immediate one, while I'm pregnant.) How disappointing that a dental office with such wonderful reviews and who leaves such a great first impression takes advantage of patients - and the insurance industry by being willing to perform an unnecessary dental procedure on a pregnant woman. Please seek a second opinion if you find yourself sitting in front of a guy being hounded to book anything more than a cleaning. read more

I used to dread going to the dentist (who doesn't??) but since I discovered Santa Fe Dental Group, my view on dentists have changed completely. I have been a patient of Santa Fe Dental Group for over four years now and have never had a bad visit. Dr. Quang and Vinh are both very nice, gentle, and professional (such important qualities in healthcare professionals!). The staff has changed over the past four years but everyone I've met has been super friendly. They seem genuinely happy to work here. The office has what I think is state-of-the-art equipment, everything is digital and fancy-looking, I'm impressed. I always use the restroom during my visit and it's always clean and fresh-smelling. Their attention to detail in every part of the office speaks volumes about their quality of service. I also really like that I receive a friendly reminder call about upcoming visits, they are good at this! I opted to go HMO on dental coverage one year and I regretted it as soon as the benefits enrollment window was closed because it turned out Santa Fe Dental Group was not in network with my employer's HMO dental plan. I did not even look for another dentist during that year. Needless to say, I immediately changed back to PPO dental as soon as I was able to so I could return to Santa Fe Dental. I have been recommending everyone I know to this office because it's the best dental office with the most friendly and professional staff. I really cant say enough good things about this office and staff. My family of 4 has been coming here for just less than 2 years. I had transitioned between insurances and dentists prior to finding this office with the dentist just previous to Santa Fe Dental being new to me and telling me I had 9 cavities!! ...after I had received a clean bill of health only 6 months prior. I was astonished and let them do 1 filling, the filling never felt right and I always had gum tenderness after I saw them. I never went back, or told that office (which I should have) but my logic was if they screwed it up the first time why would I go back to have them fix it? So when I finally got the courage, and was bothered enough by my irritated filling I started to hunt for a new dentist. I didn't tell them about my past experience until after the x-rays were done and I was told that I had NO cavities! I then told the Dr about the irritated area, and the filling that was done. He gave me my options and said that the previous filling wasn't properly sealed to my tooth allowing it to harbor bacteria beneath and causing the irritation. If I left it it would eventually create a cavity under the filling, or he could repair it. Again I was given options, with best and worst case scenarios, and least to most invasive, as well as what the pros and cons would be over the long run and the risks of intervening then or not at all. Worst case scenario was if the damage was to the root, I might need a root canal and a crown. He was able to save the root and I only got a crown which saved me $ in the long run and protects my tooth. I also had 2 wisdom teeth removed here, I actually ended up with dry socket a very possible side effect after any root canal (its just a risk that comes with the procedure) I was in excruciating pain, and was accommodated by being seen in their other office so I could be seen sooner. I have to say I second guessed my own ability to care for my teeth during that time and I was in their office every 2 days for over a week just so they could make sure: 1 it was healing properly and 2 that I wasn't in uncontrollable pain. My husband had not seen a dentist in 8 years and loved them, and both my young boys now 4 & 7 have no problems getting cleanings and x-rays. Both hygienists have no problems accommodating that nervous young boys are awfully wiggly! They remember our names, our occupations and are all just great! As for precautions with infections, I'd take every one... I'm an RN and its not obscure to see dental infections turn someone septic because the bacteria from their mouth traveled into their blood stream. I truly feel this office is about safety and health and not about money, if they were about money I doubt they'd be in Vista but I'm so glad they are! read more

I have always hated going to the dentist, not because I am afraid of what they may find or any pain associated with the visit, but instead, the feeling that you are constantly being upsold as if it was a used car lot. Not with these folks! They are the best! I started seeing them about 6 years ago when I was still married. We had moved up to the north end from Chula Vista and had been given a recent estimate for my wife of several thousand dollars of work that supposedly needed to be done from our previous dentist in South Bay. After their Sante Fe's check up though, we pleasantly found that she had a few small fillings that would total us about $200-300 out of pocket. Slight difference huh? Since then, they have earned my respect and even friendship through continued excellent service with outstanding hours (several late nights each week, and even Saturday appointments. Additionally, you have Dr. Vinh who handles regular dentistry and oral surgery, while his brother (Dr. Quang) handles the orthodontics side of the business. I find it super convenient having all my dentistry needs in one place. On top of that they do phenomenal work. During my 6 year relationship with their business they have handled braces for my wife and daughter. I just finished braces for myself and am looking to put my son in to get them soon as well. During each of these cases, I was not confused on cost, on schedule or the particulars of the treatment. It was all very well defined. I really can't imagine going anywhere else. I no longer live in north county, but instead, down in San Diego. Yet, I gladly make the trek up to see these folks since they unfortunately don't have any more brothers in dentistry (that I know of ;-) to expand their business down where I currently live. I cannot state it enough though; these guys are really the best. They have a great knowledgeable staff due to the continued training programs they send them to who have become almost family when I walk through the door. They are all pleasant, fun and take pride in their work. They do not nickel and dime you and you should never feel taken advantage of. BTW, it will likely be the best work you will have experienced.
