I feel like there should be a different category for a budget hotel that tries its best to look…read morefancy. At the right price point, this is a good place to stay a night or two. It is right next to 75, so it's fairly convenient both to all the stadiums and the border. I don't know that you're going to get any closer without paying for parking. My room was right next to an interstate and railroad tracks, but I guess they had crazy good insulation, because I didn't notice either while I was trying to sleep. Nor did I get a lot of noise from outside the room on the hotel side. Now one thing that definitely won't be for everyone was the extremely firm mattress. I slept fine even on that, but keep that in mind when considering whether or not to book.

Affordable Luxury in the Detroit Area…read more I enjoyed my stay at this Leo Collection location. The hotel had a very modern design and looked like it was recently renovated. Check-in was seamless as they had my room keys ready to go when I checked in. The Leo Collection is from the Ascend Collection by Choice Hotels and is one of their higher-end brands. The hotel was clean with many modern amenities. My room was large and clean, and the washroom was clean and had some nice toiletries. I had no issues connecting to wi-fi and was able to get online fairly seamlessly. I had a chance to try out their fitness room, which only cardio machine, a universal gym and a couple of bands. The room has space to do other things but could use an extra cardio machine or two. There is a water cooler where you can get ice-cold water and refill your water bottle if you have one. The grounds are very nicely laid out and there is ample room in the lobby for gathering with friends or getting work done. I didn't try to get to try out the breakfast as I had a couple of business breakfast meetings while in town. I did try the coffee which isn't bad but nothing great. Overall I had a good stay, in a nice new room, and a comfortable bed. The main reason I chose this hotel over others was that I was curious about the Leo brand and the price was right.

There is goo and grime on the doors, the handles, the cabinets. Body odor on the beds. Our room had three dead lightbulbs, that didn't all just happen yesterday. Management is running this place into the ground. Pool and Spa closed for months now. Elevators are not working yesterday AND today! Really. Bathroom with toothpaste lumps in sink and mysterious gooey stains on the floor, mold in shower. Countertops grimey. We were moved to second room. No better, still gooey and grimey. Thin worn linens, old towels. Never saw a housekeeper. This place looks like it could be very nice. Good room layouts, kitchen area, nice doors and cabinets. Big closets. But add a layer of grime and dirty carpets - you feel like this can't possibly be Marriott. But it is... Be warned.

Rooms were spotless, the common area was very nice with lots of tables/chairs/couches for gathering. My room had a kitchenette with some dishes/silverware and a microwave, toaster, stove, full size refrigerator, and a dishwasher. The kitchen wasn't fully stocked, but did have some pots/pans as well. The fitness center was clean and had very nice, new equipment. It was about a 15-minute drive to the downtown Detroit / Huntington Place convention center area, and we saved a few hundred dollars by staying in the suburbs instead of downtown.

When I get there to check in, the lobby smelled funny and there was construction outside. Check in was quick. I get into the room and it smells like absolute mould. I turn the air on cause it was off and the room was stifling hot. I sprayed my perfume everywhere to try to mask the smell and then left to get lunch hoping that the smell would go away. I get back and I walk in, the smell is still there so I asked to be transferred to another room. I get to the other room it also smells like mould. At this point there's no real room that would smell pleasant. I tried to cancel and switch to the holiday inn across the street that looks newer (I booked this one cause I didn't know there was a newer one and I'm coming from out of town). I couldn't cancel at all so I had to stay all 3 nights in this room that smelled like mould. And then the next day I went out for breakfast so that the room can get cleaned but when I returned it was not cleaned at all and the faucet grip fell off (see picture of hair ball on carpet and the faucet grip). This place should be renovated completely. For the money I spent, It was not worth it.
