We had a 24 year old 75 gallon water heater - rarely flushed. We were happy with it, but the water was discolored. Great brand, but after 24 years of neglect needed replacing. Water heater doctor came in and replaced it with an identical water heater. Part of why we chose them was that they preferred that brand (Bradford White). Installed competently with lots of double checking and explanations of everything. They resisted *my* suggestions for upselling, explaining why that was not needed. These folks are top-notch. Our water heater of 21 years sprung a leak over the weekend. I called Sunday night, sent some photos, got a quote for a new one, and got on their schedule for Monday morning. Mike came out within the given time window. First he checked things out to make sure we needed a new water heater; indeed we did. Getting at our water heater seemed like it would be a challenge given the web of gas lines in front of it, but Mike made quick work of things regardless. He had our old tank out and the new one installed in no time. He then re-lit all of our gas appliances since he had to shut them all off due to the crazy gas line configuration. Finally, he showed me how to light the new water heater, as well as how to drain it. In the end, the charge was as quoted the night before. We looked at electric and gas tankless heaters as well as a gas tank replacement. Mike clearly explained the pros and cons of all the options and he didn't push any particular heater (or the add-ons with our choice). We decided to go with a gas tankless heater. I'm a single mom whose life is hectic. I'm on a tight budget and I don't know much about repairing anything beyond a broken nail.
