Allentown Autobody's work is worse than their attitude I had evident moisture (snowflakes in the corners of the glass) getting into my windshield as a result of a past repair done at Allentown Autobody. Craig agreed to correct the issue of the moisture getting into the windshield by replacing it. He "repaired it" by installing another defective windshield. The glass was chipped AND scratched at the top Glass was distorted causing ripples/waves due to glass not sitting flush There were several gaps in between the rubber seal outlining the windshield and the glass The weather stripping was missing in the corners and at the base. There was exposed glass on both sides. And they scratched the molding of my car. Craig's response: "THE WINDSHIELD WAS SUBCONTRACTED THROUGH TRIPLE S AUTO GLASS. I WILL CALL HIM TOMORROW AND HE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHAT MAY BE NECESSARY FOR YOUR REPAIRS" A few days later I get Craig on the phone. This is how he spoke to me: He said, so what is the problem with the windshield? I said, did you get a chance to review my email? He said he glanced at it but "didn't really read it". I reiterated all of the issues. He told me I was being "radical" and said "nothing meets my expectations". I asked him if he drove the car for final inspection once the windshield was installed (he would have noticed the distortion immediately!) he said "No." He told me, "Life isn't perfect. There are more important things then windshields, like people's health". I brought the car to him so he can see the issues. I showed him before & after pictures of the repair so he can clearly see the difference and now the evident gaps in between the glass and molding. He apologized and admitted he did not supervise the work nor did he check the work prior to releasing my car to me. He took responsibility as he is the shop owner and his name is on it. He said he has been dealing with the same glass guy for 40 years and never had a problem so he didn't think he would need to check his work. I asked Craig if he stands behind his work and shop guarantee as it was very disappointing that he would release my car back to me 1) without checking the repair prior to releasing vehicle 2) accusing me of being irrational about the repair when I was correct that the repair was not done correctly and he even admitted he didn't check it! He agreed to replace the faulty windshield. 3 weeks of driving around with a defective windshield that was making me ill every time I looked through it, my car was finally scheduled to be repaired for (what would be the 3rd) windshield replacement. At time of drop off for the repair, I remind Craig that the glass is to look like a correct install-no exposed glass! He said, "it won't be perfect but we will do our best with what we have." I said, No, Craig. That is not good enough. The windshield needs to be CORRECT, SATISFACTORY, the glass to fit properly in the seal, no nicks, no distortion. I told him if the windshield is not corrected, that is negligence, and I will look into next steps if needed. This was when Craig told me he "doesn't believe in lawyers...doesn't need them." Later on, Craig confirmed the windshield was in and that he checked in on the repair while it was being done and it looked good - He assured me he looked it over in its entirety and there were no exposed glass, nicks, or gaps between the glass and the seal. I pick up my car and upon inspection notice it has exposed glass AND gaps. I point this out to Craig and he told me it was "perfect" and he was "done with me" and walked away from me waving his hand in the air at me like he was shooing me away. I was told to deal directly with Scott, Triple S, Telephone 609 903-6826. I get in my car and I see a large imperfection directly in my line of sight. They replaced my windshield with ANOTHER defective windshield! I called Scott, explaining who I was and before I could finish, he said, the white Honda? I said yes. He said yea, so...what's the problem? I told him there was a DENT in the glass as well as exposed glass and gapping; and that Craig told me I had to deal directly with him. He said are you wearing glasses I said NO! he then said, look, that windshield was the best out of the 3 that I got in. I can put the other windshield back on for you. I said, you want to put the previously confirmed defective windshield back on my car as a fix? He said yea, or I can put on the original windshield-I still have that one. I said THE ONE WITH THE SNOW FLAKES IN IT!? and he said yea-there was nothing wrong with that one. I said, NO. that is unacceptable! -suggesting to use an already agreed upon defective windshield as a correction. He then told me that windshields only have a 1-year warranty and there was nothing else he was willing to do. Safelite confirmed that the windshield they put on my car was not only defective, but they didn't even seal the windshield properly and it would have leaked! read more

Previous owner of my truck had damage to the door and bumper. Brought it to Allentown Auto Body and that replaced the door and components and had it looking better than new. They repaired rust and other paint scrapes on my bumper and it looks amazing. Craig and Teresa are two of the nicest people I have ever met, They are both caring are great people! Wow. This is an amazing establishment. They made me feel comfortable and at home as soon as I walked in the door. That goes a long way. My leased SUV had been vandalised and of course I needed to fix it before I turned it in. Allentown had the lowest estimate and went out of their way to help me because I was paying out of pocket and not through Insurance. I dropped it off on the morning of President's Day (yep they were open) and got it back the next afternoon. They were professional, detail oriented, and did meticulous work. Don't be fooled by the apparent hospitality. While offers of coffee & water from owners Craig & Theresa could make you feel all warm and fuzzy let's face it, when you visit an auto body shop it's not for the refreshments. Most likely you've suffered an accident, possibly one that was traumatizing and you need help and a little empathy. Chances are you know and care little about intricacies of the insurance/repair process and you just hope to have your car repaired properly in a reasonable amount of time without too much difficulty. After an accident this summer involving a deer, I chose Allentown Auto Body for the repair of our car. Having no experience with body shops for decades I based my choice solely on the fine experience that I had 4 months prior (java included) when Allentown Auto Body performed the pre-inspection necessary for my vehicle's new comprehensive coverage. Well the experience post accident was quite different from the insurance inspection. Of course I received the royal treatment upon arrival. Then with paperwork from my insurance company having just come over the wire, Craig was quick to promise he would contact them, arrange for pickup of my vehicle and call me back regarding any details. But when the call came, all Craig did was unload on me saying 'You're insurance company wants me to upload pictures to some server and so I think they're affiliated with another company and they're horrible. If I quote $4 for a part they'll say $2. I'll see what I can do but I'm not killing myself over this thing". Then he abruptly ended the call before I could get more than a brief word in edgewise. My wife and I waited the next 4 days until the end of that week but no one from Allentown Auto Body ever called back. Unclear whether the information that Craig so unprofessionally dispensed regarding my insurance company might be true, I felt it only right to pass what he said along to owner of the shop that did perform the repair on my car (Magnificently so I should add. Please consider reading my review for them). Interestingly when the job was done the owner there said my insurance company was absolutely fine and not a problem at all to work with. read more

I recently moved to the area and needed some repair work for my 2013 Infiniti sedan. Allentown Auto Body was recommended to my by a cousin, and I couldn't be happier with the process from start to finish. This family owned business really added the extra personal touches like offering coffee and water while you wait, coordinating with the insurance company and arranging for a rental car to pick up on property. The body work was done expertly, and even touched up some areas of my car that are not a part of the accident. They finished ahead of schedule, and communication with the office was easy and pleasant. I would highly recommend this business for auto body repair work in the Trenton, Hamilton, Allentown NJ area. Awful and dishonest. I had my new brand Honda Accord fixed here and that was my first time ever doing business with this establishment. When I picked up my vehicle I simply asked what the miles were going in and coming back out. Craig snapped at me for implying whatever he thought I was implying. My car was brand new with just 40 miles on it. The very first time my car was not repair so badly and even though I didn't want to go back I did because I didn't want numerous auto shops to work on my vehicle. Craig should have refused to me services than to treat my NEW vehicle the way he did. The repairs were awful, it looked worse than when it was brought to Allentown auto body. The paint did not match. The filler was not sanded properly there were huge scratches and scrapes all throughout the body of the vehicle even areas that did not come in with damage. The car is still misaligned and has a cracked piece of chrome on the bumper. I was very nice about this and gave them an opportunity to rectify. Teresa and Craig are hypocrites they say one thing but they do another. Craig has a very bad temper and is bound to lose it quickly. My car was not repaired properly even after emailing them the very same night I picked the car up. They did not finish the repairs, would not reply to my email and had me sign that I was happy and satisfied with the work before it was even complete. I couldn't be more satisfied with this facility. I have been there multiple times, and the service that is given by the owners is second to none. You not only get a sense that they care about your car, but that they care about you as a person. Their workmanship is superior. The owners go above and beyond to meet your needs and to complete the work on time. This faculty is truly a throw back to when people took personal care, everything isn't run by computer automation, and customer service means something. Craig, the way you lashed out at me on the phone on Friday, July 14, was appalling. How could you treat any customer like that? You implied that I was cheap because I never tip your men. I will admit that on one occasion, you did not charge me for the ten minutes it took one of your men to polish my headlight covers, and I did not tip him. That was wrong. Except for that one occasion, you have charged me for everything you do, whether a big job or small job. I pay YOU for YOUR work. I did not know body shop customers were obliged to tip the men in the shop. You told me I take advantage of you. How's that? I HAD been a loyal customer of yours for five years. You told me you didn't want to deal with my personality if something went wrong on a job. What does that mean? Instead of arguing with you on the phone, I hung up on you. I called you back and asked you if you wanted to apologize to me. You continued to berate me and insult me. Instead of arguing with you, I hung up on you a second time. I have always treated you with respect. I have always treated your wife, Teresa, with respect. I have always treated your son, whenever he was in the office, with respect. I have always treated your staff with respect. And I have always treated other customers in your office with respect. I hope everyone that reads this review understands that Craig Ludwig holds grudges against customers he deems unworthy of his services. Craig Ludwig, you should be ashamed of yourself. What kind of a deeply religious, supposedly moral person, treats people the way you treated me? You have truly disappointed me. Exceptional competence and honesty describes my experience with Craig and Teresa. When I took my 20 year old Landcruiser in for a rusty tailgate Craig took the time to give me a breakdown of the steps involved to make a proper repair and the the parts that either needed to be replace or might be salvageable upon closer inspection. He also pointed out other areas where superficial rust could treated preventing a much bigger problem later on. I took my truck to another shop for an estimate and the guy didn't even look under the truck. I drove over 40 minutes to Allentown Auto Body, but would've driven further for the service I received. Craig did a thorough inspection and replaced any parts that needed to be replaced and then detailed the truck to return it to me. Terrible service at this shop. My car was rear ended and I took it Allentown Auto body. Other guys insurance covered the entire repair and they estimated an 11 day repair. Well it took Allentown Auto body 61 days to complete the job. They even closed their shop to take a two week vacation keeping my car locked away the entire time. They were paid in full but still neglected to finish the work on my car. During this vacation no one could reach them, not the insurance company or myself.
