My friend introduced me to Allergy Free Bakery when she surprised me with some sweet treats from here on my birthday. I have a severe gluten sensitivity and it's challenging to find bakeries that sell a variety of GF desserts. Not only is everything in the store GF but free of the top 9 allergies!!! This is the only bakery in metro Detroit i know of that is completely allergy free which means no risk of cross contamination. This is a blessing for those with allergies. Finally....I can have my cake and eat it too completely worry free! I had a sugar cookie and a cake pop and they were both delicious. The sugar cookie was even made with dye free sprinkles and is hands down the BEST cookie I've had since going gluten free! I meant to eat about a quarter of it and save the rest for later but there was no way that was happening after I took the first bite. LOL I can't wait to stop by and try more sweets from here especially their cupcakes and scones. Rita was an absolute God send she was patient kind and attentive. She helped me find what I needed and allowed me to ask as many questions as needed without feeling overwhelming. They have interior and exterior seating. The interior is absolutely beautiful it's like this great bubblegum pink everything is vegan and gluten-free. All products are probably free from the top nine allergens they're kosher gluten-free and vegan I have to say this establishment is definitely needed if you're looking for a vegan bakery they offer scones cupcakes cake pops donuts sweet and savory options rice crispy treats anything you can think of I'm pretty sure they have it. OPEN MORE STORES!!! Well worth the drive from Ann Arbor! I could NOT believe this location offers baked goods that accommodate the top 9 allergies. I have a gluten intolerance and took home several options that I thought I'd never eat again. Weekend specials are torts, pop tarts, and some other items. My favorite was the raspberry tort and the scones. They have SO MANY THINGS!!! Bummed I didn't get a coffee (next time though!) They also have a freezer full of take homes like pizza!! They don't allow outside food so there is no chance of accidental exposure. Parking lot is for this space and the other stores within the strip mall. Get here right when they open! I had a chance to try some of their items and meet the owner who are super friendly! They deserve a huge applause for what they are trying to do, serving delicious bakery items for those who suffer from allergies. With that, I was not overly impressed with the items I tried. Cinnamon roll was very dense and a little dry. Cheesecake tasted more like a pudding. Other pastries were ok. I know it's a hard thing to do, and I have huge respect for them. For me, it just wasn't there. As a vegan, I'm not as limited when it comes to ingredients, and I do bake a lot at home, so these were not to my liking. I don't know.. I kinda like my allergens Nothing was worth the price that was associated with it. Nothing was bad, but I would not spend that much money again here. Things tasted like fake flavor was added, and it had that "healthy" taste/aftertaste to it. I tried the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting; it was kinda hard and the frosting was not my favorite. I'm comparing it to Costco's muffins which I think are phenomenal. And those are gigantic and are a fraction of the price. I guess I'm gonna move forward from this experience and I've decided if I'm eating something unhealthy, I'm gonna go to an unhealthy place for it. read more

I woke up this morning and decided I wanted to try out the Allergy Free Bakery that is relatively close to my house. It is located in a strip mall type building on the west side of Hayes closer to 23 then 22 Mile road. The Bakery is so bright and clean on be inside. You walk in and can see all of the Bakery items available. I was there in the early afternoon so I'm sure that there were more items in the morning when they open then when I got there. I selected a Mozzarella Bagel because it sounds amazing. I then selected 2 of the bagels that were left that I have missed since going gluten free in 2008. That being chocolate chip and Cinnamon Sugar. I'm looking forward to trying all of them this week. I also got 2 donuts; one being chocolate glazed and the other being chocolate frosted. When I asked the workers which they recommended, they couldn't tell me which was better. Rather that both were awesome. I can tell you that I will be back for the chocolate frosted. It was everything that it looked like. Going to the Allergy Free Bakery is definitely worth the drive. I'm pretty sure I will be making the drive more then I want to admit. Since opening last year, I have been here over a dozen times and worked my way through a lot of their items. Initially, I was underwhelmed BUT I have since come to find some items here that are really excellent. I have celiac and a nut allergy so I am beyond appreciative of Allergy Free Bakery for even existing. Things I really enjoy here: -cinnamon rolls-omg soooo huge and delicious, takes me 4 days to get through one! -lemon cookies -oatmeal cookies -cheese bagels Things I don't love: -cupcakes-usually my most favorite dessert but I have tried probably 4 different flavors and haven't loved any. The cake is very dense and the frosting is too sweet and too hard for my personal taste All in all, I have found more that I like here than I don't. The allergy free bakery is beautiful. It is well lit, it is exceptionally clean, and everything is beautifully displayed The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. They are kind of children and are exceedingly patient. I was so excited to try the allergy free bakery with my daughter who is Treenut and Sesame allergic. up to this point we have primarily used bake station in Farmington Hills and was excited to have another option closer to home. Top nine free, kosher, and vegan! Here's what I realize. Unless you need everything you eat to be completely top nine free, you probably are not going to love allergy free bakery. It's very expensive, which again, if you need top nine free, and vegan, and gluten free, and kosher, then you're going to pay more. However, as a family that was not need fully top nine free and gluten-free, and vegan, it wasn't what we needed. We found the bakery items to be not good. The bagels, which I was really excited about we're pretty atrocious, it might be because I have an exceptionally high standard for bagels, and to be fair, my kids loved them. But I would not buy them again. The homemade pop tarts my kiddos were so excited about, were abandoned after one or two bites So here's where I end up. If I need to get top nine free, I will 100% return to allergy free bakery, however, while I'm just shopping for my kiddos, and our specific allergy needs, I will return to bake station in Farmington Hills, or continue to bake at home. Take away from all of this, if you need top nine free, go to allergy free bakery. You're going to find so many treats that you will love. Great concept, was so excited for my peanut, tree nut allergic son to be able to choose whatever treat he wanted without worry. However, the baked goods were a bit disappointing. We tried 3 cupcakes, a cookie, a donut, and a cake pop. My cupcake was good, but almost too sweet and I couldn't finish it. My son got the red velvet and said it didn't taste like red velvet. The donut and the cookie were both very dry and left a chalky taste in your mouth. He said the cake pop was pretty good. It was all very expensive too. I think the fact that they make everything gluten free results in the taste/texture issues. The place itself is very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Lovely place with a great assortment. My daughter has a sesame allergy which recently became worse. I am so thrilled this place exists for people with allergies, however many options are NOT SAFE FOR PERSONS WITH CELIAC DISEASE in my understanding. A lot of their products use oats and that are not certified GF despite their 'celiac safe' claim. Request the ingredients before ordering so you can check. excited to spot this bakery that is free of the major 9 food allergens and we finally gave it a try! We were immediately greeted (there were at least 4 other families there and still they acknowledged us when we walked in with a smile and greeting which was great)...they even gave my 2 year old a small ball to take with him so he was very happy about that! The bakery was really nice looking too-especially the flower wall. There were a ton of options available. We tried the oatmeal apple pie and chocolate chunk cookies, vanilla frosted donut, blueberry and plain bagel, blueberry muffin, cheddar biscuit, cheddar quiche and the red velvet, twix and oreo cupcakes totaling about $55. Our favorites were the oreo and twix cupcakes and the oatmeal apple pie and chocolate chunk cookies and we would order those again. We did go later in the day so perhaps the other items were dry or hard from sitting out most of the day. The ice cream machine was down but we want to go back to try that. read more
