We ordered a holy cow, veggie platter and a side order of scallops. Beef flavor is amazing, juicy and fresh. Service is very attentive, always checking in on you and refilling tea without being annoying.. It's such an enjoyable experience. They also have lockers for your bag and coat, plus a de-scent sanitization machine to make smell less BBQ-like before you leave, very thoughtful.

I had a dinner with a friend last Sunday. Alley 16th is tucked in the corner of Cambie and W16th which makes sense why it's called Alley 16. My friend booked a reso at 4:45PM and then we ordered Super Holy Cow ($235) and a salad. Super Holy Cow was good for 2- 3 people. Food was so much for me. The meat quality was excellent. A5 Wagyu was fantastic. Rib finger was slightly tough. Everything else were tasty and delicious. Loved the beef tongue it was good. I appreciated that staff took time explaining about cooking time and there was a cooking guideline at each seats. They also had a storage area on the left side of bar tables. I just to lock and pull out the key. The food is on the higher end, but it was totally worth it.

We had a great experience dining here - the service was impressive. Our server was attentive throughout the meal, making sure our cups were always topped off and walking us through how to cook the meats we ordered. They also checked up on us regularly. We went with the meat set for two and added two veggie dishes, one pork dish, and the beef tendon rice. There are also seafood and wagyu options on the menu. In hindsight, it was quite a bit of food for just the two of us. This place is definitely ideal for a larger group where you can sample more of what they offer. Some meat sets were for 2-4 people but looking at other tables that ordered it, it was definitely a large portion and too much for just the 2 of us. The quality of the meat was solid, though nothing particularly blew us away. If you're dining with people who enjoy seafood, there are a few more set options available. I personally can't eat some seafood, which limited what we could share as a duo. Dinner came to around $200 for two, which is fair considering the portions and interactive experience. I'd recommend checking this place out (especially with a group) so you can try a wider range of dishes.

Yakiniku anyone? Ally 16 , a trendy yakiniku restaurant on Cambie that serves high quality meat. Meat cuts are labeled and cooking instructions placed beside your own grill. If you still have questions, the friendly staff are there to help you. Will be back.

Our party of 7 had 2 sets of "Holy Cow", a portion of pork belly, shiso chicken and extra beef tongues for around 50$ per person, and it was just enough to feel full. The meat is something you can find in most decent BBQ joints; not too fancy, but also not bad in quality.

I found this place by accident. We were looking for parking, driving around the Cambie Street area, and the restaurant caught our eye. We decided to have dinner at this restaurant This is a Japanese-style BBQ restaurant. I have seen this style of restaurant in Japan. They have their own BBQ grills in front of you, and you cook the meat yourself. It is fun and also very clean. What I ordered: Personal Set 松 - We enjoyed sample portion of each item Short Rib (Angus) Rib Finger (AAA), Pork Belly, Chicken Thigh , Chicken Cartilage , Seaweed Salad, Neritic Squid, Mushroom, Zucchini. There's not much to talk about regarding these items. I enjoyed the samples; however, some of the meats are a bit chewy. I hope they could be a bit more tender, especially the short rib. Holy Cow - Beef Tongue (Angus) I like it , very tender. B/L Short Rib (Angus) - just ok, Flank Steak (SRF) - one of the favorite, tender, Outside Skirt (SRF) Solid meat, ok Chuck Flap (SRF) - OK Rib Finger (AAA) - OK, New York Striploin (AAA) - hope it could be a bit more tender Ribeye Steak (AAA) - The best. Very good, tender. This item was ordered by many customers. I think it is very reasonable and nice to try each sample meats. Portion is very good, too. But, after I had this item, I decide that I will definitely order Wagyu menu next time. Wagyu oil rice - It's super delicious. I really love the flakes of Wagyu and the garlic-flavored oil. It definitely complements the BBQ beef.I asked the staff if they sell this item individually in a jar. Unfortunately, they don't sell it. Hopefully, they will offer this item in the future for the takeout menu! We have ORION Beer(from OKINAWA ) Tip: On the way out of this restaurant, near the door, they have a machine that takes all the smoke odor away from your clothing. It was an amazing machine. Overall, This place is a good choice for friends or family gatherings. If someone has never tried Japanese-style BBQ grill, I would recommend this place.

We wandered in from the cold and found a delightful paradise of wagyu beef and personable staff. Sebastian thank you for being a wonderful server.

Very high quality Japanese BBQ! The only other place I can compare with is Gyu Kaku, but the ingredients at Alley 16 is much higher quality and its also pricier as well to reflect that. We were recommended the Super Holy Cow to try a bit of everything on the beef cuts. I would also recommend to fill up on their hot plate dishes to be full if your still hungry afterwards. All the rice dishes were very delicious and generous in portions, but my favourite was their Ginger Barbecue pork rice dish and the wagyu oil rice was great to have alongside with the beef cuts. Another stand out dish to me was their Uni- Scallop and Crab Paste scallop. Their scallops are huge and the quality of the uni was amazing! I was very pleased with all the dishes we were served.

A bit on the pricey side for BBQ restaurants but the food was delicious and very good service. There is a large variety of meats and platters to choose from. We ordered the Holy Cow platter which had different cuts of beef, as well as pork jowl and Hokkaido scallop miso soup. Yum yum yum! We shall return.

No frills and worth the hype!…read more Our family of six arrived at 12 pm on a Tuesday. We waited approximately 25 minutes which is not bad at all considering how popular this small restaurant is. My mom is vegetarian and my girls had a wonton noodle soup lunch at another spot down the street. So we ordered a few things mainly for my dad, husband and myself: 1) Platter with barbecue pork and chicken (雙拼叉燒香油雞) 2) Half-order of roast duck (半隻脆皮燒鴨) 3) late of roast pork (燒肉) 4) Bowl of rice (一碗米飯) We cleared everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and flavorful. My girls are usually indifferent to Cantonese barbecued meats but they tried it and enjoyed everything as well. This is definitely a place to repeat if and when we revisit Vancouver.

They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.

Even without the free lunch set they are super great deals with most lunch sets $20 or less. I ordered a beef toro, pork and chicken lunch combo. It was a lot of food! The lunch set comes with salad, soup, side garnishes, rice, and the three meats. I love that they clearly label each meat. The sauce was delicious and the meats generally pretty good. I loved the toro - very fatty the way I like it and cooks quickly. The chicken was very delicious and juicy just takes much longer to cook of course. The pork was only OK. It wasn't the fatty one and kind of dry. My wife loved her udon and also we got a steamed salmon. You grill it in a closed container and it was good, the salmon goes well with the ginger. Also got a green tea mochi dessert and they stick a birthday candle sparkler thing on it. Fun and good! Ordering is super easy via an iPad like thing and they are pretty helpful. Love to come back!

I must say it was nice and juicy. With that said, wow it's pricy. The "Vancouver's Best Cornbread" is a pretty tall claim, but this place delivers. The cornbread is suprisingly moist and sweet. Of course, try not to think about the ingredients. Definitely worth trying. Pretty solid food if one has deep enough pockets. Recommended.

Maybe it's better in the prairies but here I've find it hard to find either beef or pork cooked right with most it either being dry, unseasoned or undersmoked. The big plus for Rosie's is they actually seem to know how to cook brisket using fatty cuts and smoking it long enough to breakdown the connective tissue without it getting mushy. It could have been smoked even longer but it was probably the best I've had in BC. They don't have burnt ends and at least the server I dealt with didn't seem to know what they are. They at least know you never serve Texas BBQ with sauce on it. It's expensive for BBQ which seems to be standard in Canada with 18 dollars for just 1/2 a pound but it's good enough I'll pay it. They didn't ask if I wanted lean or fatty which is traditional in BBQ joints. I found the pulled pork to not be as good. It didn't have the flavour or moistness that I expect especially compared to the South Carolina pulled pork that I prefer and eat when visiting family there. Also it looks more chopped than pulled. If that is Vancouver's best cornbread I'm guessing the bar for cornbread is pretty low too. It's too sweet. Cornbread is a savory dish. The moistness was good. This would be bog standard Q in Austin or Charleston but for Vancouver it's very very good.
