Oh great! This is fantastic Chinese night market style. If you haven't tried it, you absolutely should! It's the perfect representation of Chinese night food and market, and it's both interesting and incredibly tasty. There are plenty of drink options and the food is amazing! I love it! Just one star away from five because the prices are a bit steep. What we got : Skewers - Deluxe Beef, Premium lamb, Deluxe lamb, sliced fatty beef roll with cilantro, Chicken cartilage Jumbo scallop with garlic sauce Crispy chicken cartilage with salt and pepper Crispy Chicken cartilage with salt and pepper was well-seasoned and very crispy outside and juicy inside. The menu is also very diverse here, and you're sure to find something for everyone. I walked into this place while looking for a place to do a pedicure and I am so glad I did. I ordered the beef and chicken skewers, dumplings in chili oil, broccoli with garlic and cabbage with chili. Everything was delicious. The beef and chicken were bbq'd perfectly. I came here during Spring Break as part of a team bonder with my rec team. I'm not really much of a skewer or even a bbq type of person. I didn't really have major expectations coming in except to have some delicious food. I think my objectives were fulfilled. My group just loaded up on everything from the skewer menu. I'll just knock off the negatives for starters. I don't think chicken wings on skewers is interesting or practical, or just something you should spend money on. Now onto the positives, I liked almost all of the other skewers we ordered. It had some nice smokey characteristics and was seasoned well. We got a giant bowl of the lamb noodle as well and it was quite delicious. Minor complaints to cap things off. The area we were seated in had one of the seats slightly broken, and it's a bit weird to me how it couldn't be fixed. Also, we sat next to one of the private rooms, and I could definitely smell that people inside there were lighting up cigarettes. Not gonna rant about how dumb it is to smoke cigarettes, but it was very obnoxious to have to manage with as I sat next to the door, plus it's a tremendous fire hazard. I hope this was just a one off, but given the staff didn't really seem to care as the smell did not stop, I guess I should warn folks that there's gonna be a chance you have to deal with second hand smoke, plus the risk of someone lighting the restaurant on fire cause they're too lazy to go outside. The place was pretty full. Given the small table in the little side room that also has a larger round table. The small table is uncomfortable for anybody over average height. For food, tried their fried chicken knees. Tastes similar to chicken knees from Cantonese restaurants, but this place has heavier seasoning in terms of salt and garlic. The door nail buns were not big, but they have a tasty meaty filling. Lastly, the beef soup noodles were pretty good. Portion was big. The hand-pulled noodles were soft but still has a little bounce to the chew and doesn't just fall apart. Nice rich savory beef broth. I really wanted to like this place! It's so aesthetically cool! However the skewers were only OK and everything was a bit pricey. They do serve you your food on cool dishes and plates so you'd feel like you're at a night market or a food stall. We got a lot of food items (but no alcohol) and our bill came to $300 among 7.5 people. To be fair I was still a bit hungry after. We tried a bit of everything from them. From their tomato/egg soup, fried rice, enoki mushroom, eggplant, a variety of skewers, grilled prawns to even the tanghulu seasonal fruit skewers. Heads up the tanghulu skewers didn't look the way I thought they'd look. I thought it'd be more traditional. While it did look cool, the sugar strands were actually kind of painful to eat and you end up eating the fruits and the sugar separately since they're don't really stick. We first visited this place for lunch only to find out they only have BBQ skewers during dinner. So we visited again a few months later for dinner. They seem to be very popular since there was already a line at the door when they first opened for dinner at 5 PM. I've always heard people talking about this place, and finally get a chance to check it out. If you enjoy Chinese style bbq skewers and spicy food, you've came to a right place. The ambience of the restaurant is like a Chinese night market / street food in the old times. All kind of neon lights hanging from the ceiling in chinese writings. It's copying the 90s' night market style. People might get a little overwhelmed when first coming in. They have big, small and medium tables to cater to all size of parties. There are also private rooms that are available for groups to book with minimum spendings. Their menus are large paper prints newspaper style, with all kind of selections, mainly from the northern China. We ordered quite a bit of bbq such as the premium lamb and beef skewers, pork intestines, deep fried squid, and chicken wings. They are all pretty good with a nice portion. The jump scallops with garlic sauce and bbq oyster with garlic sauce were very tasty. My daughter's favorite was the stream pork bun, which were soft and juice. My favorite is the house made noodle with lamb broth. It comes with lots of lamb meat, and the house made noodle was very fresh and tender. For anyone who like lamb, it's a must try. The egg and green onion fried rice was served in a pot, which was unique. It's on the saltier side which I didn't like. Overall, all the dishes are pretty salty. However, they did have the options to make it less salty, less spicy or no spicy, you can definitely customize your own flavor. There are cumin powder, chili powder, chili oil and vinegar on the side for people to add their own flavors. They also have this beverage cart being pushed around, which is very unique. They offer none alcohol drinks and alcohol drinks from the cart. My hubby ordered this tea flavor drink infused with vodka. The server put the mini bottle of vodka on top of the tea box (she cut a hole on the top) , just enough the bottle can fit in and dispense the vodka into the beverage. It actually doesn't taste so bad. The service was standard with friendly staff and quick response. For a Monday night, the restaurant was very busy with lots of customers. It's a very unique experience, definitely a place for people to meet up and drink. Parking can be hectic on the lower level, however, there are additional parking lots available on the second level. I'm not sure if I will go back again anytime soon, but definitely will keep it on the list next time when we have guests visiting form out of the town. read more

Came here for dinner. We made our reservations through WeChat. Be sure to make a reservation or you will end up waiting awhile for a table especially on peak nights like on Fridays and Saturdays. They came around with a cart filled with the classic Hong Kong style drinks and mini bottles of Smirnoff and Bailey's. We got the lemon tea and lychee. To describe the taste it tastes like lemon tea until all the Smirnoff comes down and then all you taste is Smirnoff. It doesn't really mix together. Wouldn't recommend except for pictures. We got a ton of skewers including sausages, lamb, beef etc. My most recommended has to be the Xin Jiang Lamb skewers. But beware, the first batch we got of these Lamb skewers were delicious, the second batch not so much. Would also recommend the sausage skewers. The cumin seasoning they put on top has almost a numbing yet addicting feeling to it. We got the deep fried chicken skin and also fried chicken knees. The chicken knees were really addicting. Definitely on the saltier/MSG heavy side. But VERY addicting and crunchy. Would recommend the chicken knees over the chicken skin. We got the lamb dumplings, grilled oysters, butter corn, Mala stir fried clams and Beijing style black bean noodles. Would not recommend any of those items. The lamb dumplings were really oniony and lacked lamb flavour. The grilled oysters were big and nicely cooked but not worth the price. The Mala stir fried clams were pretty numbing and the portion was quite big but felt that the flavour masked the flavour of the clams. The Black bean noodles they stir at your table which is cool but tasted not as good as it looked. The butter corn was over done, making the kernels dry. If you like durian balls I would definitely recommend them as the durian flavour is really strong and the outside taste like deep fried mochi. Very chewy and delicious. Overall: if you are looking for a place with nice atmosphere and nice neon nights. Then this is your place. If your looking for good food, I would pass on this place. There are more misses than hits. The price is also pretty expensive. Our bill came to almost $300 for 4 people and I swear we aren't big eaters... Regardless, good for a one time experience and get ready to go all out when you do go. Tip: if you are having a birthday here and want to embarrass the birthday person. One of the trendiest spots in Richmond and is known for its old-school Chinese neon signs. We were hungry and ordered a variety of skewers (premium angus beef, lamb, minced beef, baked shrimp). There's a minimum order for select meats. We also ordered the spicy garlic clam and shrimp (minimum 2 seafood meats) and it comes with broccoli and potato slices. Good but very, very salty. Would be good with plain rice. We got the fried rice and the house noodle with lamb, which was SOOO SPICY. We washed it down with their punch bowl IPA which was really nice! For dessert, we got the tanghulu, which wasn't worth the $3. The sugar was hurting the roof of my mouth and I would much rather have it glazed with sugar. Price adds up quickly and it was ~$55 per person. We were seated outside on their covered patio during a rain storm. Went with 3 other friends for dinner, vibe and decorations was quite nice but relatively expensive although we did try a lot of different things. Beware the minimum order requirements. *Deluxe Lamb ($0.99/skewer): Very little meat on the skewer, flavouring was meh, which could be expected because of the price but definitely didn't feel worth it. *Premium Angus Beef ($2.98/skewer): These were by far the best skewer, seasoned really well with tender meat. *Chicken Wings ($2.98/2 wings): These were also quite flavourful, and would recommend, good mix of spicy and sweet. *Squid ($0.99/skewer): Not a lot of squid on the skewer, but tasted pretty decent, not particularly memorable. *Fish Tofu ($1.68/3 tofu): I would get these again! They were quite good *Bread ($1.68/ slice): Probably not worth it, was buttered with a sweet sauce and sesame seeds. Tasted OK *Marinated Cucumber with Garlic ($5.95): Really tasty and getting this helped balance out some of the spice from the skewers. *Tanghulu ($2.98/skewer): Very pretty but probably not worth it LOL was kind of difficult to eat and one strawberry and three grapes is not really worth $3. *Mini Alcohol + Chinese Tea Juice Box ($7.98): DON'T GET THIS EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS CUTE. Trendiest spot in recent Richmond history that opened in perhaps one of the most perpetually cursed locations as so many have failed before in this same spot. Last call for food is a bit too early but perhaps we will see things change as Covid restrictions are further lifted. This location has little to no parking but there is some street parking on the side streets nearby. Park at Richmond Center at your own risk as they are known to ticket. Tasty BBQ is definitely intended for larger groups unlike our table of 3 as the minimum skewer orders means you don't get to try much. All the skewers were pretty decent and prices were fair. We ordered a mix of 3 items from their cold plates section that were also really good and were great to pair with beer. Definitely recommend the house smoked fish from this part of the menu. Their lamb skewers are very good but the house noodle with lamb has way too much chili oil. The base itself is decent but it's overpowered by the chili oil which you'll end up paying for on the toilet the next day. $6.88 for a flight of beer is dirt cheap as is their $13.98 pitcher. The Vita based alcoholic juice boxes are a bit of a gimmick but they're probably what got you to notice Tasty BBQ in the first place. The drink starts off extremely sweet and then takes a dark and strong turn as you get near the end. IMO this needs to be served ice cold and with a disclaimer to mix it well when you're 1/3 of the way through. Their Covid protocols were excellent and glad to see the security guards actually enforce it. As I sat down, I saw a gentleman get kicked out as he was overserved/obviously intoxicated, so it was nice to see them do their job. However, 10-15 minutes later I saw this same patron go back and forth and it looked like his friends either paid the guards off or sweet talked them into letting him back in. Also as I went to use the bathroom, a different patron was violently throwing up in the stall. With the amount of alcohol served here, a one stall bathroom may not cut it, just sayin' Overall it was a fun experience but with the amount of chili oil used in their dishes, I'm not sure my stomach can handle coming here too often. read more

It brings you back to the 70s-80s feeling but with a modern twist. We have ordered: *Premium Angus Beef Skewers ($2.98/ea, min 6 orders): Very tender beef with nice balance of flavor and spices. Each skewers come about 4 small pieces on the stick. *Premium Lam Skewers ($1.95/ea, min 6 orders): Same as the beef, very tender. Mixed between lean and fatty pieces. Taste like the same spices as the beef skewers. *Chicken Wing ($2.98/ea, min 3 orders): tiny bit of sweetness from the marinate which is quite good. Wings came out hot and crispy on the outside skin, which was very good. *Sea Conch Meat Skewers ($2.28/ea, min 4 orders): Not recommend. It's frozen sea conch meat which I totally understand, but taste unappealingly bland. Also, 4 skewers of meat were all cold. (Not hot) We tasted it right after they came. *House Special Hot pot- Braised Pork Knuckles , Abalones, and Chicken feet ($19.98): This is the funny item that caught me. For $19.98, you got a very small bowl of hot pot with 1 small piece of abalone, 2 half of the pork feet, and 2 pieces of chicken feet... When I say it was "small", it's really SMALL. Compared the size of regular rice bowl/cup with the hot pot itself, it's about 5"? Taste was Okay, but not recommended for this item. After all, Subtotal $67.80 + 5% GST = $71.19 + 15% Tips. This place literally reminds me of China from ambience to food and drinks. It's the perfect 大排檔 environment where friends gather to eat good food and drink some beer to relax after a long working day. This is also the only place in North America that has RIO beer imported from China, definitely recommend the fruit punch flavor. Drinks and draft beer are super affordable. Skewers are reasonably priced and taste delicious. There are cumin and spicy powder on the table for you to add more flavors to your liking. We ordered wayyyyyyy too much since everything looks so good on the menu.
