First time here and I can tell you the prices will blow your mind. I didn't know places like this still existed in this economy I had a 4 pcs chicken dinner with Mac and chz and green beans which only cost 10.00. The place is not really big which I enjoyed the small setting for once. Customer service was good and the menu have a good selection overall. Ordered broasted chicken and potatoes. They were over cooked. The potatoes tasted odd. The broasted chicken tenders were also over cooked. They tasted of catfish. The cooking OIL is very old should have been changed. The chicken tenders were made in the same oil as the catfish...definitely a NoNo! The flavor of the Mac n Cheese was also off. Overall, the meal for the five of us was pretty much inedible and still cost us $62. Never going back. read more

Tried the Sunday Morning Breakfast Buffet after a coworker recommended this restaurant. While the buffet is not big in size, they make up for it in quality. Everything is homemade and it takes me back to my childhood. And they actually had really good turkey sausage that I have come to rely on since my recent heart attack. Staff is super friendly and personable and the restaurant is cozy and clean. A very nice gentleman is there making custom eggs and omletes right beside the buffet. I had a stressful family situation where my 11 and 15 year old grandchildren needed to be occupied for several hours. I chose to take them to Burkey Family Restaurant due to recent reviews and the distance it was from our home. As I had never been there before, I viewed a picture of the restaurant online and phoned them around 4:30pm to make sure they were open. The person who answered said they were open. Can you imagine my surprise when we arrived after a 40 minute drive to be greeted with a sign on the front door that said the dinning room closed at 2pm. The sign announced that there was "Take-out only". The four of us went in and looked at the menu. I asked if we could eat at one of the 3 booths by the front door and I was told that was not allowed, (now think about all the takeout restaurants that have a few table where you can eat your takeout food. This refusal to let us eat our food inside at a table was outrageous). Due to the distance of the drive home and against my own rules against eating in the car, I said just this once we would eat in the car as the food would be cold by the time we arrived home. Once the food was ready, we divided it up and each of use carried our food out to the freezing car. My 11 year old granddaughter hadn't even sat down and she spilled a full cup of soda all over the back seat. The trip was an absolute disaster. The food quality was poor. My grandson's burger bun was stale and hard, my wife's onion rings looked like a pile of limp pan fried onions without any breading. My salad looked and tasted like a grocery store bagged salad that was a week out of the "best by" date. I had hoped to support a small business that was making a comeback but I was treated poorly and served lukewarm stale food that was substandard to say the least. I hope they improve or they will not survive. read more

Little bit of a drive from the interstate but well worth it. There's a good looking buffet going on Sunday but I opted for corned beef hash; I expect it'll last until I pull into the house seven hours from now. Both me and the little white truck will be on fumes about then. Seated immediately, coffee and ice water show up and I put in my request. Food took a tiny bit long but the coffee was good and hot and plentiful as I caught up with morning mail. Hash was hot, moist in the middle and crisped on the edges. Eggs up with bright proud centers and firm whites. Rye toast was about medium-well and lightly buttered just like it's supposed to be. Servers and hostess were present and attentive and cheerful and all that good stuff: filling coffee and water and getting extra napkins... Parking is a little tricky but pay attention to the striping and nobody gets hurt. :-) read more

However, everything was great - eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon, along with a side order of grits. I so enjoy getting an early start on Saturdays and this place, though listed hours open at 0700, was open about 0630 and ready to go with a pleasant greeting. My breakfast, the Italian scramble, was done right and he even made a pot of decaf after my limit of 1.5 cups of the regular stuff. This is exactly my kind of enjoyable place to have a nice breakfast then feel comfortable staying for awhile to read and ponder as I plan my week. I just want to say not everyone knows that if you order off the buffet that you can't take it with you. I got my food from the buffet but didn't eat it all because I I can i only eat small portions but since I paid for it I thought I should be able to take it with me but the mean lady behind the counter said no I couldn't but I paid for it so I paid another freaking 15$ just to take my food that I had already paid for but mean lady said everyone knows that but No Not everyone knows an one one in the restaurant mentioned anything to me an it was 12:40 an half the food was dried out or gonr, pretty sad mean lady you didn't even see what was on my plat, I won't be back! read more

Summary: This is our new favorite diner in the Dayton area. Pros: Good service. Friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. All the food that we've had to date has been on point. We particularly liked the corned beef hash with poached eggs and the salmon patties. When my wife ordered the salmon I was skeptical, but they tasted kind of like a salmon version of a crab cake. Unfortunately Needmore was hit by a tornado and the surrounding businesses have been affected. They're are rebuilding, we spoke with the owner and they're working hard to finish repairs and upgrades before reopening. One of last local diners around and still willing to rebuild and reopen. I tried this restaurant on a tip from a friend. I'm always searching for a great pork tenderloin sandwich, so that's what I ordered. The bun was fabulous! The pork tenderloin was cooked perfectly and it came with bread and butter chips on the side. I love bread and butter chips, so I was thrilled!! The cole slaw is sweet and creamy. Their homemade white bread is delicious. All for $6.95 The restaurant is clean and the service was good. I'll be back to try other selections! read more

Worth the 7 minute drive off I75, on your way South, to Florida.This truly is a hidden gem. Don't let the fact that the town looks as if a tornado went through, dissuade you from dining here. A tornado did rip through this quiet community, in May 2019. The food was the best home cooked breakfast ever! Biscuits & Gravy, Salmon Patties, scrambled eggs, homemade thick sliced bread. Yum! POOR SERVICE!!!....Beware when ordering off the menu, instead of ordering the Sunday buffet. You will be treated as a 2nd class citizen. Two in our party ordered the buffet, and within minutes their custom-maid omelettes were hand-delivered to our table. The other 2 people ordered 2 eggs and toast, and an omelette with home fries...and waited 25 minutes to get them! The waitress said that the buffet takes precedence over menu orders. However, the restaurant was not packed and there was no waiting in the buffet line....so where were our 2 orders? Probably not given to the cook, based on the lackadaisical attitude of the waitress. She didn't even ask how the 2 eggs were to be cooked. The 2 buffet diners said the food was good...but there is NO excuse for such an absurd delay in 2 simple orders. I give Burkey's 5 stars because 10 aren't available! Awesome food, excellent service. When you walk in you feel right at home. The coffee cups are all different, which is so very cool. It's like having coffee with a friend. The average meal is under $10, including drink and 25% tip (Did I mention excellent service?) We have work group gatherings there for breakfast with about 20 people, give or take and Burkey's does a great job keeping up with all of us. I highly recommend going there!! Ambiance isn't everything. This is a dive restaurant in an old bar, off the beaten path where many businesses seem to have died a slow death over the years. I still give it five stars. We got a table right away on a Sunday around noon, and the service was spectacular. Our server had those little touches that make you feel great. She started off with, "I'm going to take good care of you today," and she did. I admit I'm a sucker for being called baby girl, etc., but you could tell she really cared that we were having a good time. We ended up getting the breakfast buffet, which had a lot of sweet and savory options. We were told they had turkey sausage (we don't eat pork), but they were out when we got to the buffet. The cook happened to be filling the potatoes, and offered to make us some special. So nice! The owner was out there in a chef's hat making omelets and eggs to order, and a guy brought ours out to our table within a couple of minutes. Definitely beats waiting half an hour or more for your breakfast! I can't say enough about the service. She checked on us enough but didn't bother us. The cook even came to ask if everything was satisfactory. At the end of the meal, our server offered to warm up a caramel roll for us because we were eyeing them. Bonus: it came with the $8.95 buffet, along with a bunch of other pastries. We spent $21.03 even with my coffee and tax added on, and left completely stuffed. You should go here. It's homey, and in kind of a strange building, but the atmosphere is totally cool, thanks to the people. Our server said, "Thank you for letting me serve you today." My husband got chicken livers and onions, green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. I got fried chicken , mashed potatoes and gravy, and coleslaw plus rolls. Everything was good except I didn't care for the coleslaw. But that s ok because the rest of the food was good! If you can get over the exterior and the outdated decor, Burkeys offers good food for a very reasonable price even if they do nickel and dime you on the condiments. The broasted chicken is a bit short on chicken, but the beer battered fish is well worth it. read more
