Yawn. Hotel dining. And they were out of hash browns and forgot my toast. But omelets were good and coffee was hot before heading out in a blizzard. And they let me take my coffee cup back to my room, ensuring tomorrow's coffee wouldn't be out of a cardboard cup. Bonus was really nice servers and prompt service. But really...food was pretty much a yawn and over priced. Just what you expect in a hotel. But convenient.

Your average hotel restaurant but met our needs because we didn't want to go far. Service was good and food was ok. Didn't like the tap water.

For $3 more, I could had gorged myself with the breakfast buffet. But I wanted to be served. So, I ordered the 2 eggs, hash browns, 2 bacon, toast and coffee meal. Ok service. At times, I couldn't find the waitress. And there was hardly anyone in the restaurant too! Food was good. Company was even better. Good atmosphere for a hotel restaurant.

The restaurant is in the Marriott hotel near University of Dayton. It has a nice decor and the staff are friendly but the service took a long time during dinner. Wish the service was better. Coming to the food: 1. Salmon (4.5/5) crunch, perfectly cooked salmon. But the rice was a bit bland. 2. Buckeye Brownie (2.5/5) the brownie was good but it was too hard and too chewy. It was too hard and sticky to eat. I would not order it again.

After class at UD it is time for some lunch. A brew and a Sammie, would do the trick. Dewberry 1850 does a good job rotating draft beers, all are local breweries and brewpub. Today I choose a juicy IPA "Far and Away" brewed in Cincy brewpub Fifty West. Awesome I ordered up a "Brown St. Club" served with fries. The "Brown St. club" consists of turkey, ham on raisin cinnamon toast. Tasty!

I have been staying at the hotel for about a month. I was expecting this place to have average food. Everything is really good. I pretty much had everything on the menu. There isn't anything that is bad. Everything is good to amazing. The staff is great and very friendly. After a few days they definitely start to know you and your orders. It almost feels like home, which is great when you staying here for so long at the hotel.

Food is not good. I will only eat here out of desperation. Cookies are good. Burgers are ok.

Bartender is extremely rude. Food wasn't bad at all though. TVs on for sports helps at the bar but service is what suffers.

The food at this place is insane, I've been many times and every time I eat here it just gets better and raises my standards for other restaurants. They have two full sides of menu, and there's not a single dud. Their burritos are flavorful and perfectly curated, their pancakes are sweet and huge, and their chicken makes me understand why people explode to 500 pounds. I could go on forever. The service in this establishment is so excellent. The waitresses are super kind and fun, as well as helpful. Art fills the walls creating a beautiful space that Is intensified by tasteful music picks. This place feels straight out of a movie. Every choice they make for their business is so wonderful and you can tell it's a real team effort. This is what Ohio is, this is culture and community, and this is the unity food should bring.

You can tell they're aiming to put a unique twist on classic brunch dishes, which I can appreciate, even if it wasn't quite my style. I ordered the Gravy'd Cheddar Tots, and my friend ordered the Breakfast Burrito. While the food was well-prepared, I personally found the value a bit lacking for the price. The Gravy'd Cheddar Tots consisted mostly of tater tots topped with eggs, white cheddar, and gravy. I basically paid $16 for 2 eggs; I left more hungry leaving than I did coming in. I understand that their menu is designed to be creative and different from a traditional brunch spot, but I found myself missing some of the more classic breakfast elements. In the end, it just wasn't the right fit for my preferences, and I left wishing the meal had been a bit more filling.

The theme is around their biscuits. They make the food in front of you. One thing to note is they don't have a stove! Everything is made freshly plated or in the oven. It's YE Gurl @ Salt Block Biscuit Co., Dayton…read more Dayton, we need to talk -- because YE Gurl went on a little Nov. 4th wander through your downtown, trying to get a feel for the actual city, and stumbled across the sweetest little gem: Salt Block Biscuit Co. Picture this: a tiny café tucked into the artsy, alternative side of town, the kind of spot you only find when you're really out here walking. Inside? A large, 1950s-style counter wrapping around the whole operation -- ovens humming, ingredients flying, and a crew of women running the place with the ease and precision of folks who either trained classically or cooked their way into mastery. You could feel there's a backstory here... something like "We left the industry to build the space we wished existed." I'd watch the documentary. Now let's talk food, because YE Gurl came to taste. Portobello Florentine Soup -- $6 Hearty. Homey. Creamy. Thick with mushrooms, a flour + cream roux, spinach, cheese, and herbs. Flavor was there, seasoning was on point -- no salt, no pepper needed. What I did want? A little heat, a little acidic lift, something to brighten that rich base. Still, for six bucks? A win. Paired it with the Strawberry Black Tea (unsweetened) -- $4 which cut the richness just right. Sweet Honey on the Lox -- $18 Now THIS was the moment. A thick, everything biscuit layered with: maple-smoked salmon, boursin, pickled beets, beet-pickled egg, greens, and spicy honey. The biscuit alone? Large and unapologetic -- classic Salt Block flex. The sandwich was flavorful and hefty; so hefty I ate half and tucked the rest away for my beau (sharing is caring but also... survival). The only note? That spicy honey was a touch aggressive for me. I get the concept -- the Dayton crowd probably sees this as edgy culinary innovation -- but I wanted the boursin to have more kick or tang to balance everything out. Oh I also had the Cinnamon Bun - $6 which was okay. I could tell there was good ingredients in it though so not the ugh feeling after say a Cinnabon. And here's the real tea: I noticed the clientele -- mostly older local men -- and it made me think. The food style here is more advanced than the typical café, but I can see how the everyday patron base might keep the menu playing it a little safe. Salt Block has the talent for bigger, bolder plates. YE Gurl's Suggestion: Give these chefs a "stretch item" -- a place on the menu where they can go all out. A seasonal dish. A holiday special. A monthly flex. Let them show what they can really do. Because the bones? The skill? The vibe? Already here. Salt Block Biscuit Co. is one creative spark away from being the downtown Dayton destination.

The decor has changed since the last time I visited (more moody & cozy color scheme) but it still is and always has been a vibe!!! On my most recent visit I got an iced vanilla matcha with oat milk and an avocado "toast". The matcha was well blended and balanced between the matcha and vanilla flavor. My toast came out as a croissant piled high with fresh avocado, pickled onions, blistered tomatoes, micro greens and everything seasoning! So filling and delicious! I originally sat at a high top table in the front so I could eat and work easier at the same time but eventually moved to the low table conversation area in the back when I needed an outlet (the tall tables in the front by outlets were all taken). I also noticed that on wednesdays-sundays the shop is open until11p and that there are daily happy hour specials from 4-6p with drink and dip specials! Would love to come back one day to check this out!
