Horrible company do not rely on them to communicate in a professional manner nor take your job seriously. We had a mold problem we needed treated to in a timely manner, and we were appointed to Colby as the rep to handle our job... we informed her our tenant was inside a hotel and we needed to start the job as soon as possible. Colby assured us that they would start the job right away and that there was a 10 day waiting period for them to start the job as they wait for a permit. Well agreed and gave Colby all our information to get things going since we are housing our tenant in a hotel at 100 dollars a day. 5 days passes by so I follow up with a text to Colby checking on the status of things and hear nothing. I think nothing of it since I was told after 10 days we would have a permit to proceed with the work. So I wait till day 10 which was a Friday. I call Colby Friday with no success. I let it be and let the weekend go by and contact the company early Monday morning. To find out the company let Colby go and nothing has been done with our account no follow up to Colby's customers to make them aware of what's happening. This is now day 13 with zero progress. I talk to their sales manager and he tries to explain to me how this isn't their fault. And that they could at the best start our job in 10 days. Needless to say review every company before using them... if I was to review this company before hand I would've realized how horrible of a review this company has received from many other people, and would've saved myself over a thousand dollars. Fortunately enough I used a different company who was able to expedite the process and get my job done. In fact, I would rather praise and give benefit of the doubt. I am typically very understanding. Not in this case. They did work on my two bedroom two bathroom apartment that I share with my dear roommate. I had to temporarily vacate the premises (& stack all of my belongings into one half of my bedroom & remove everything from my bathroom) so they could do demolition on my room and bathroom to find out why my ceiling was leaking. We were told my room & bathroom would be cordoned off, and that my roommate could still freely use her space, that because it was happening during her work hours it would not affect her. Somehow the major piece of communication that one of us would still be living there didn't get to the workers. My roommate comes back from a day of teaching preschool to a Halloween horror nightmare. HER room and bathroom were also cordoned off and covered in plastic with frightening warning signs about toxic chemicals. They threw a bunch of my stuff into the living room from parts of my space I was not told to remove items from. She has cats that they locked into a potentially toxic zone. WTF???? This is inconvenient enough for me, I am fortunate that I can stay with local friends in this time. But to pull her into the equation by surprise is the most inconsiderate oversight. Terrible experience with this company. Try to find someone else to do your mold remediation work. Their customer communication is horrible. They ruined our hardwood floor from the tape they used and wouldn't pay for the repair. Below is what I sent to the company yesterday: Our bill for redoing the hardwood floor is $1125. Sadly for us, we have to pay an additional $425 that we were not planning to pay, simply because your company won't own up to the damage they caused to our floor. (They offered to pay $700) I must say I am disappointed with your decision not to pay the full amount. As you might remember the communication from Starr was horrible. Couldn't someone have emphasized to us the possibility for the hardwood floor to be damaged? Why didn't your foreman Gustavo say anything when I specifically said to him the morning the job started "please be careful with those floors". My overall satisfaction with the work your company provides is 2/10. I'll give you a 2 for completing the job and having the final mold report pass. I would definitely seek out a different company if we have to do anything with mold abatement again in the Santa Cruz area. read more

This company did not honor the 60 day guarantee that their heat treatment would eliminate all bedbugs from my home. A bedbug bit me two weeks ago on my couch, I have a picture of the bite, and now the manager will not return email or phone communication. So there is at least one bedbug still in my couch and possibly (probably) more in the other sections of my couch and possibly other furniture and/or the walls of my living room. Manager Chris gave me a 60 day guarantee. The technicians told me they had heated very high the couch on their first treatment and I believed them, but my bedroom on the second floor needed to be treated again as I was still being bitten in there. After some pestering I got them to come and do a second treatment, with a focus on the upstairs. Now my upstairs is totally BB free, but at least one couch is still infested, and I'm scared to sit on the other LR furniture. read more

Guy cleaning register covers in MY sink with soft soap scratching stainless steel sink., one guy left halfway through the job, they were in/out within the hour. Kitchen duct damaged due to metal brush in flexible duct, (rubber flex hoses are typically used in these type of ducts) coils in HVAC still filthy, two ducts missed entirely, negative containment area compromised by covers falling off. Mold still in bedroom ducts after environmental company swabbed. Unprofessional! as they come! Had them redone by a reputable company with correct equipment and protocols in place. Night and day. New company even cleaned dryer vents and fans in bathroom no charge and were here for over 3 hours for half the money. In my opinion I would not recommend Alliance Environmental to my worst enemy. This company is terrible, I hope people will learn from my terrible experience and never use this company. I hired them to remove a termite infestation using thermal heat remediation. 1 month shy of the warranty period the termites reappeared in the exact same spot. I tried calling Marko Rusch (project manager) for three weeks and received zero response. I sent emails as well and he completely ignored any and all communication. I was able to find the phone number for the division manager Jon. He tells me emphatically that the warranty was for 1 year, but he would review my file and call me back. Well, after over 2 weeks, I had to be the one to contact him. I requested copies of the invoice twice and on the 2nd attempt, he now switches it and says the warranty was for 2 years and that I was past. My warranty passed during the time the ignored my attempts at communication. I have now filed a claim with the CSLB and hired an attorney to recoup the costs of fixing their work and the damage done by the termites since the work was performed 2 years ago. A simple phone call, site visit, and reasonable offer to fix the problem would have avoided this whole situation. I called again on Monday, told them that I hadn't heard anything and they forwarded me to the person in charge (I don't remember his name), his mail box was full. I called back to let them know that I couldn't leave a message, so they said they'd let him know. It's now Wednesday, no word, and I've booked another place. Updates: omg can I give negative stars???? I just found out from a second opinion that the work that's supposed to happen doesn't even need to happen!!! The water that leaked wasn't sewage and the wall isn't moldy so there is NO REASON to remove the wall and thus the asbestos. My house/dog sitter was woken up, I haven't been able to go to sleep yet because it's midnight here when they called to let me know they're at my house to get work done. I don't know how no one knew we weren't going to be there unless Starr did not communicate this to whoever is filling in while she's gone, or that person filling in is just incompetent and making up work orders. Now they tell me they can't come until January 10th. You've gotta be freaking kidding me, this should have been done in November..... I drove 45 miles to the site, after waited for 30 minutes, no one shows up! I called the company. The operator transferred me to a voice mailbox but no one ever called me back. I had an asbestos removal job done by them and they left me without running water or access to my bathroom WITH all my toiletries, medication, etc. with no notice. In the midst of a total kitchen remodel we found asbestos. *sigh* I shouldn't have been surprised, I mean my house was built in 1959, but a girl can dream, right? I worked with Alliance on the advice of my remodeling contractor. I'm glad I did. The guy who came out to mark the locations to remove ended up visiting a couple times. First to take measurements and give a quote, and then to mark off the spots to remove. Since they were basically demolishing the kitchen for me, and having to do it in fancy suits with crazy filters and stuff, their quote made sense to me. When the work was to begin, the workers met with me to go over the locations that needed removal again to be sure we were all on the same page. They spent time sealing off the space that visit as well. It took a day and a half to remove everything, and then another day (I think) of time with the special filter running before the inspector came out to check their work. Once they got the green light from the inspector, they came out to remove the seals and clean up anything else that needed doing. Alliance doesn't do their own inspecting, which is a good thing when you think about it. It means that they hold themselves to a standard that allows for outsiders to say that they're meeting the minimums. And, the inspector said that the work space had all of the signs of being done very well. Everyone was friendly and explained what was going on every step of the way. VERY unfortunately, my apartment complex uses this company for pest control. In working on a neighboring unit, they destroyed some of my property. When I asked them about it, one employee completely ignored me, refused to even turn his head my way. the other became extremely threatening, cursed at me extensively and said I should back off because "I know where you live." I will be filing a police report, but want others to be aware that they are obviously not background checking their staff. There are so few licensed asbestos removal and, when I first found alliance, I was pretty happy. When I first contacted with David, he was pretty quick to response, provide a quote and pleasant to work with. After I signed the contract and paid the deposit, David becomes a little harder to find and the job start date is delayed by a few days. I thought, maybe he is a little busy so it's OK. Once the job started, it was supposed to finish within 2 days and it becomes 3 days. David called saying that another job has an emergency and he is pulling out his crew to fix that so the job will be delayed. It's all fine I thought, stuff happens. After it's the job is complete, I enter the house and find the following surprises: 1). Master bedroom/ bath ceiling sheet rock are severely damaged by the water sprayed and scraping. 2). the water/glue dripping on the wall was not cleaned up and ran down the wall. The wall is newly painted several month earlier. If it was cleaned up at that time, the whole interior does not need to be repainted. Now the whole interior needs new paint job. 3). Fragments of popcorn ceiling materials are sticking to the wall next to the down stair bath. Looks like someone may forgot to put up plastic containment in that area. 4). Promise of saving as much crown moulding as possible was not done. Not even one complete piece of crown moulding is left. 5). Most of the staples are left on the wall At that time, I was interviewing 3 different contractors for remodeling. All of them visited say that Alliance did a very poor job on pop corn ceiling removal. After I complained the above problems, David send a crew back to pull out most of the staples. The clean up crew still miss that one wall with possible asbestos contamination. I have negotiated with Ed and David for 2 weeks and they refuse to either fixes the damaged ceiling sheet rock or pay my contractor to fix it. They stated that it is part of the contract which I reread it, it does not say the popcorn ceiling removal will damage the sheet rock. I hired Alliance Environmental Group to remove asbestos popcorn ceiling from my condo and was very satisfied. I got four estimates and David Mouser from Alliance gave me the best price. I was a little worried because of some of the negative reviews on here but I'm glad I went ahead with them anyway. They did an excellent job. The workers showed up on time and carefully protected the walls with plastic and took all the usual "required by law" precautions. I told them that I would be finishing the ceiling next and they kindly left one coat of clean plastic taped to the wall, making it MUCH easier for the next crew of workers to do their job. I don't really understand the bad experiences people have posted on this company; our experience was very easy and straight-forward. We had Alliance do a full asbestos duct removal and abatement of our Concord house and they had a crew of 4 up all the way from San Jose for about 5 or 6 hours. Then they had one guy make a second trip all the way up the next day for cleanup of the protective film they left. Considering the man-hours invested plus the drive time for 4 trips makes it a very reasonable total bill. Especially when you consider they climbed all around the crawlspace with the spiders and mud, which is something I would be less than reluctant to do. My initial estimate with Greg was very smooth and informative, and one week later the work was all done. A lot of service companies do a confirmation call or email the day before the crew is set to arrive, and I didn't receive one to my knowledge. This may be what some other yelpers felt was lacking when they complained about communication. However, I as expecting them, and the price didn't change from the estimate. Overall my wife and I are very pleased with the service and glad that we will have all the required documentation on record for when the day comes that we need to sell. read more

I hired Alliance to do asbestos duct and tile removal. It was a challenging process. What made it work was the communication from Alliance. They let me know what was happening, why and how, and basically everything happened just as they said it would. The price was better than other quotes I received. They went above and beyond to help me, rolling up the carpet to donate to Habitat for Humanity (the carpet was installed for the sale of the house, never lived on). I'm remodeling my house from top to bottom, and the "top" starts with the popcorn ceiling. Thank you, early '70s! After doing some reasearch on asbestos abatement companies, I realized there weren't a lot of alternatives. I talked to a couple companies and didn't come away feeling very comfortable. Alliance's Yelp reviews are really hit or miss, but after talking to David, I thought I would give them a shot. David was on time, explained the process thoroughly, and give me a fair quote. The Alliance team did a very good job removing the popcorn spray from the ceiling and air ducts. They started on time, finished on time, and left the place as clean as can be expected. The only disappointment was that they forgot to remove a small partition wall that I had contracted them to remove. After one call to David, though, it was taken care of the next morning. I felt this company was very professional, and I was happy every step of the way in my cleaning process. Firstly, they sent a person on-site to do an assessment - free of charge - something that not a lot of competitor companies were offering. Secondly, my house was all the way out in the Santa Cruz Mountains, so I really appreciated someone making a trip out there. Thirdly, they came on time, were great with communication about quotes, when they would be doing the service, sending completion photographs afterwards (though I had to request these pix, I hope they will make this a standard practice moving forward). The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is because they were supposed to do cleaning in a water heater closet, and somehow they forgot to do it. When I emailed them about it, they immediately sent someone over within 48 hours and had it taken care of. I'm ok with folks making mistakes - we are all human. We short-listed 3 Asbestos Abatement companies to do our popcorn ceiling removal job. Alliance Environmental wasn't the cheapest but we selected them because Pete Varga was very professional in his approach. He explained what needs to be done, when it will be done. I especially like it when he explicitly wanted us to write a check for an independent party to do the final air testing. That shows how confident they are in their work and that they don't want any conflict of interest. As for the actual job itself, they were prompt and professional. One thing that I was hoping for but didn't get was a daily update on what's going on. This is a 2-day job so it wouldn't be onerous for them to give a daily update. On the 2nd night, I happened to meet the air tester at the house, when then give me an update on what's going on. There was a glitch in the job in which the technician used a stronger tape than before on the wall. As a result, not only the paint came out but the texture on the wall came out. This requires my contractor to do extra work to create the same look. However, I'm happy to report that Pete and I sorted this out and I'm happy with the outcome. The independent air testing company gave us a green light and now I can live free of fear that my little girl might get harmed because of asbestos. read more

This has been a very unpleasant situation. They were referred by the company removing the water from the home. Do not use this company Walter was my point person. He scheduled a Saturday to do the work. I called him Friday around 5:40pm after arranging to have someone in my home to be there the time he said was needed. With this call Friday evening Walter said oh I'm sorry I was going to call you I was trying to fit you in. My guys don't work on Saturdays. He's the one that suggested the Saturday appt. He told me it would be a couple of hours. And could they come Monday morning, I arranged to have someone there that I'm paying to be there at 9am. They arrival 3 hours later like it's no big deal. When I arrived home it was a scene out of Dexter, My clothing closet and another bedroom sealed and for what. Than these guys said we will be back Tomorrow. I'm like what you are to finish today? You got here 3 hours late. The next day they arrive and they are at my home for over 8 hours. And for those of you that have been through this there are other steps that follow the next day. Than the following day it's tested for asbestos. I had to call to get the result. The company that recommended them tells me oh Walter has to come back they didn't remove the vinyl floor in the bathroom where the damage started. Can you believe this? now this process starts all over again. And just a few minutes ago I had to text the company that referred them and let him know Walter has not called me to schedule. Please beware and do your own homework before hiring them. Ask for referrals of people nearby you that have used them. And don't take the word of the company that you originally called. Alliance Environmental Group out of Sacramento, restored our attic after smoke damage from the Kincade fire in Windsor. Jose Roman, and Luis arrived promptly, prior to the scheduled time, and screened off their work area with plastic sheeting from floor to ceiling, so as not to contaminate the rest of the house and garage; they wore protective gear at all times. Using huge hoses they vacuumed the old insulation out and thoroughly cleaned the attic area. Jose took before, during and after photos of the complete process. A separate hose blew in new insulation. It looked much better than the original job when the house was built. They hauled away huge bags of contaminated insulation. They left the property just as spotless as when they arrived (even swept a few leaves from the sidewalk). They were professional, polite, friendly and efficient. The guys who came to my house for espetasos remediation not only didn't show up on time for taking down their mess, they damaged my ceiling and after I show the proof with pictures before and after, they asked me for the repair bill which I showed. I paid these guys balance minus the repair cost, which was around $250, kept on sending me invoices to pay. Since my wife was the contact for this business and I was busy with my work, I ignored invoices and finally, the unthinkable happened. They sent me for a summon to take me to the small claims. Since I had all the evidences, I got so upset that I was going to go to the court, my wife called them without my knowledge and paid the remainder and the cost for the summon. I was not at all happy with the outcome and the worst business experience I had in my entire life. I am surprised that they are still around. I am yet another very disappointed client. The gist of the story is I am a renter and my landlord hired the company to remove mold from 1 wall in my living room(1000 sq ft. cottage). I asked, via email and on the phone for the Ed the rep to explain exactly what was going to happen in my home. I even asked him if electricity was going to be used. I wanted every detail. All he said is it is a 1 1/2 day job ( it was 5 hours) they would wipe down walls and do what needed to be done under the house. I waited a long time so I could get a weekend slot. He said the job would be Sat & Sun. That was all he told me. As it turned out, they taped off my whole living room and expected me to run the huge fan all the way until Monday when a person was going to re test. I had no knowledge of any of this. I didn't even have an appointment lined up on Monday. While they were here they tore apart my closet and left it for me to clean, their tape ripped off over a foot of paint on my wall and the workers left a mess in my toilet. This could have gone so differently. Ed could have told me the full truth of what was going to happen. I would have scheduled on a late afternoon so the test could have been done the very next morning. Instead my son and I were shut off from half our home with a huge hot fan going for 3 full days. Booooooo! very disappointed. work not completed as per the contract they gave us. had them out here for bed bug house heating. the guys who came to do it looked stoned, and didn't do anything they said they would (ie remove bedding and clothing from drawers, etc...) the hepa vacuuming was never done either after the heating of the house. Trying to contact david mouser after you hire the company is a joke. he literally will not let you speak to his supervisor if you demand to. long story short, wouldn't hire them again... ever... never even signed the contract with the company. We contracted this company to remove asbestos coated ducting and old insulation from our attic in preparation for new heating ducts and new insulation to be installed. We researched several companies, and Alliance had the lowest bid. When they started the work, they told us they needed $1200 more in order to complete the job. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place because we were about to leave on vacation plus we had the heating company lined up to install the new heating/ac system. They not only took two more days than they originally estimated, forcing us to lose one day of our vacation, but they also caused damage to our ceiling and then refused to take full responsiblity for it. We feel we have been victims of a bait and switch, and that this company has no clue about good customer service. Be forewarned. read more

I'll keep this review short and sweet, because let's face it my fellow Yelpers, asbestos is not the sexiest of topics... I was a little hesitant to move forward with hiring Alliance Environmental Group based on the previous reviews, but being the savvy Yelper that I am, I knew that I wanted to form my own opinion based on experience. I'm definitely glad I did. They were punctual, courteous, reasonably priced, and thorough. So, yeah...like I said, not the super sexiest of topics but I hired these guys to remove the popcorn ceilings in my house and have my ducts cleaned. One of the estimators, Starr Airey, came out to my house for a walk through and went over the whole process from start to finish, making sure to take the time to explain the process in language I could understand and process. This made me feel comfortable and confident in the work Alliance would provide. She did not come across as "sales-y" or pushy and was honest in her estimate. She let me know what types of damages may occur, if any, so that I could make plans with my contractor in painting afterwards. I had a ton of questions, since I don't deal with asbestos ever (I mean, gross), and she was able to answer all of them. Hopefully none of you have to deal with these issues in your house BUT if you do....I would definitely recommend Alliance Environmental Group as the people for the job. read more

Update to prior post of 8/19: Marko (Salesperson) reached out and sent a crew to perform a second cleaning of the floor, which really helped ease our minds about the quality of work done the first time around. Then he sent what I deem to be one of his top inspectors, Jose, to do a final walk thru and clean-up of the 700+ sf area. Jose was SO thorough and detail oriented in his inspection; I wish he'd been the one to originally remove all the protective curtaining and taping! He went above and beyond to ensure that every bit of paper or plastic still stapled to the wall or stucco was removed, and that overlooked taped vents were re-opened. Alliance came out to my place to do the air duct cleaning, as well as the dryer vent cleaning. They were very thorough, did a great job, explained the process as they were going along, took pixs for me to see inside the vents and cleaned up as they went.
