NO PPE or proper containment protocol. This company does not value your safety or the cleanliness of work. Mold remediation was done in my apartment with a different company days prior to JWH coming in to remove the asbestos affected walls yesterday 4/3/24. Two guys showed up and was already doing demo w the prexisting containment the mold remediation team left up completely OPEN. It was a double containment and both were OPEN during the process of demo. No gloves, no masks, no coveralls....ripping up the moldy, asbestos contaminated walls, getting dust everywhere, all over my floors from the room all the way to the front door. They started sweeping to bag and remove, causing a larger dust up with again, both containments OPEN. The city inspector was on-site checking out the bldg structure when the demo was taking place witnessing the lack of professionalism this company presented. This is my home and my belongings inside this unit where the work was taking place. I am devastated by the work this company provided as a licensed asbestos removal company. I will be submitting a complaint through OSHA next. read more

I couldn't be happier with the entire process! Their staff on the phone and in person was warm and friendly, punctual, competent and flexible. JWH came promptly and were able to tell us that in fact we did not have asbestos, and that what the HVAC person thought was asbestos was just some white woven tape. I heard good things about JWH work from others, and their quote was quite reasonable. So was unpleasantly surprised with the work they did for me. The job was pretty straightforward: to remove about 400 sq ft of asbestos-containing vinyl tile together with the wooden underlayment it was glued to. The team arrived on time and it was clear they have all the right equipment and tools, and follow the right processes to isolate the rooms, etc. So nothing shady. Before they started, I specifically told Roy that if the closet that was built in that room got in their way of removing all of asbestos-containing materials, he should let me know or just demolish as much of it as needed, as that closet was going to be demolished regardless. He said he understood. The team left on time and everything seemed well, until I asked another contractor to demolish said closet, which they did same day. After they were done, I saw that more vinyl was left where the closet walls were, as the frame was built on top of the floor. And it was clearly visible that JWH team decided to cut the floor around the wall, disturbing asbestos, and never mentioned anything to me about that. I asked those other contractors not to touch the remaining pieces (even thought they probably disturbed a lot already during the demolition) and contacted JWH. They said they didn't want to demolish the wall because it would take more time, but failed to explain why they didn't follow our agreements. They asked for an extra payment to come and get rid of the few remaining spots, even though the work to remove that very floor was clearly covered under contract. Paying a contractor to fix their mistakes goes against my principles, so I had to ask some other guys to remove the remaining pieces together with the subfloor they were on, which they did. To summarize, JWH followed all the necessary protocols and wore appropriate equipment to protect themselves from asbestos, but ended up exposing 2 other contractors and myself (the homeowner) to disturbed asbestos and took no responsibility for that whatsoever. If you're ok to only be 95% cancer-free, JWH would be a great contractor, but if you're targeting 100%, I would recommend to look elsewhere. read more

My mom Maggie hired JWH asbestos removal abatement company on Sept. 4, 2024 to remove our dining room asbestos ceiling and treated the mold due to water damage from 2nd floor bathroom. My mom has been corresponding with the owner Grace who has been very patient and gracious in answering all my mom's questions and concerns in the emails. They gave a quote and said once they open the ceiling to reveal the mold they would determine the additional charge to fix it. I appreciated how honest JWH supervisor, Roy Reveles, was in telling me what we have and what we don't have. I was originally told by JANAL Air Conditioning and Heating that I had asbestos tape/insulation around old ducts etc. but they were completely WRONG! Only Roy from JWH actually looked thoroughly and under crawl space to confirm that I have NO asbestos! In response to Graces response; who would be satisfied JWH Asbestos removal accidentally left asbestos in every register upstairs and then being told by Grace that she cant lose money on my job so she'll give me $300.00 back? The day I discovered they left the asbestos in the registers, the heater guy removed some, not realizing it was asbestos at first. I put in a plastic zip lock bag. I told Grace it was Still at my home when they finished the 2nd time and she said they would make arrangements to pick it up in a couple days. It is still with me weeks later.
