    Sparkle for Days

I love this store and the owner. If you want cute, bubbly, sparkles, all the lights a place Dolly Parton would happily hang out, this is the retail store to hang out at. The owner is so cute, fun, bubbly, and helpful! She will help find what you need and introduce you to all types of cute stuff! There is a great selection of cute sunglasses, especially many made by the owner with all the rhinestones that your heart could desire. She will help take the dramatic ones such as myself to the NEXT LEVEL. There are also all sorts of cute accessories available. Love the bracelet options also so many cute home decor popups in the store as well. Definitely check this store out for some retail therapy and a perk up. Note: Online ordering and pickup is available for the locals. It's a small store and there is also hand sanitizer at the front of the store for all your needs. It's a very safe environment and the owner always has cute functional masks on. Street parking is available and pretty easy to find a spot. A few off-street parking is available on the side of the location as well. #WomanOwned

How do I begin to sing praises in order to convey the fantasticness/fabulousness/ all the other…read moreRachel Zoe jargon conveying amazingness that is Swap? I will take a gander. Ultimately, Swap has singlehandedly eliminated my need to ever go to Lakeside Mall or Canal place, and has given me the wonderful ability of clicking delete when I get a sale notice from Banana or J. Crew because I know I can get the item at Swap in the same condition for less money. First, the owner, Michelle, is fabulous. It is like she has read every how to make your employees and people around you respect and love you book on the market. Or maybe it's innate for her. I don't know. Michelle is a genuinely kind person, who signs every single one of her business' emails with every single store associates name. In a world of faceless corporations, that means a considerable amount. Swap discounts items on a schedule. I know they do at 30 and 60 days, so you can take a gamble and watch an item if you are in love. Swap has only been open for a little over two years, and nearly half of my wardrobe went to be consigned there and the other half has been rejuvenated by it. My finds include Theory shirt dresses for 15 dollars, silk Club Monaco skirts for under 30, Coach wallets and wristlets, Tory Burch clutches for under 100, a Guess red peacoat that was Blair Waldorf worthy for under 70, banana republic silk tops, etc. How did this happen you say? Michelle opened her store in a section of town that has wealthier liberal arts schools literally 2,500 feet away (tulane and loyola) and is wedged in a wealthier part of new orleans. So, an influx of a revolving market with a disposable income. Brilliant! She works her butt off to get the word out about her store to New Orleans' ladies who lunch who then bring their garmets here. (Thankfully) There is no hipster ridiculous pretentiousness here (Im lookin' at you Buffalo Exchange) and they are always kind when you consign your items. I have never been treated anything but wonderfully by Michelle and her crew. If you are in the area, make a point to stop here. Honestly, I would work here for free if it were legal, but well, we both know there are labor laws. note: sign up for store emails because Swap loves coupons as much as you budget fashionistas do, and they also have an ebay edition of their store.

So many great gifts that represent New Orleans…read more I wasn't really in the market for anything, just browsing, but then I found a lovely Magnolia patterned dog collar - perfect for my beagador named MAGNOLIA! Then I found out from the shop attendant that the state flower of Louisiana is the Magnolia! What??? My boyfriend's mom was born & raised in NOLA and loved our dog. She has been gone for a year and half, so finding this out strangely makes me feel connected to her and that she is still around. :*) Anyway, the sweet shop guy asked me to tell him the story of how my dog and I found each other. I recounted the tale of how I found her at PAWS Chicago, where she came from originally (Oklahoma), that she had a brother named "Steel", how she saved me from a life of stress, and then our connection to NOLA. I always appreciate when someone can create a warm and fuzzy moment. So thank you, Shop Guy! The collar is high quality all around - material and construction. I have purchased MANY custom collars for my baby girl and this has been the best so far. It's worth the money because I know it will last for a long time. I will be checking out their website for Christmas gift ideas since we won't be back until next year!

Think of all the symbols of New Orleans and bayou culture and cuisine. NOLA Couture has developed custom fabrics and ribbons that show off your Gulf Coast pride in a classic preppy style that you can wear to office or church without coming off too wacky. Think ties, belts, key fobs, bags, scarves, pet collars & leashes, insulated tumblers, glassware, candles, and so on. The ties and scarves are 100% silk & wool. Patterns include: --red beans & rice --snoballs --poboys & hot sauce --gumbo --seafood --shrimp cocktail --beignets & cafe au lait --gators --redfish --Mardi Gras kings --Saints --Louisiana --sea turtles --pirates --2nd line --boats --mosquitos --fleur de lis --fleur de sea (with a fish, shrimp, oyster, and crawfish) --street cars --hurricanes --daiquiris --seahorses --oysters & pearls --pelicans --mallards --seersucker I could not resist coming home with a red beans & rice belt for myself, plus a few ties for the Cajun/Creole men in the family. I'll probably be heading back to the online store for more gifts for upcoming birthdays. Fans of LSU, Bama, Tulane, SMU (oddly), Florida and other southern colleges can find some neat things here, too. NOLA Couture even can do custom designs for you (your school, business logo, etc.), and shipping is free for orders over $65. Prices are not cheap (ranging from $10 for a laser etched glass to $95 for a loomed scarf), but the quality of the all the goods appears solid. If you are looking for $10 T-shirts about drinking on Bourbon, this isn't your shop, but then you knew that!
