I Highly recommend Alligator Pear Catering. I appreciate their patience with me on questions and changes. I had a large grazing table and passed appetizers. The staff knew their job and worked discreetly, efficiently and pleasantly. They let me have plently of imput. The Bartender was great too. People kept complimenting the food. If I could give them zero stars for their lack of professionalism I would. While looking for caterers as part of a work event, I reached out to Alligator Pear Catering as they were highly recommended by one of our agency partners. In an accidental response to my quote request, Abigail Chilton, the company's founder wrote an email that was accidentally sent to me that said, "Hahahaha. Look at this" and included my direct LinkedIn address. I was in shock that not only would the owner of a company make a comment like that directed at a potential client but also that she would be so careless as to send her response directly to me. She did respond to give her apologies that the comment was supposed to be in response to their Director of Operations "who was questioning if my initial email was legitimate or scan/spam" but given her initial accidental response, it's hard to imagine that's indeed the case. Just be mindful of who you choose to do business with and what they may be saying behind your back. read more

Alligator Pear catered our wedding and they were beyond exceptional!! They really worked with our budget and they came up with a menu that was unbeatable. Their food was so delectable our guests ate so much they weren't able to go to our after party because they were too full and had to go rest. Their salmon was a real favorite, as was the 6 hour merlot braised beef. All of their tray passed hors d'oeuvres were incredible. The Kobe sliders are still receiving rave reviews from our guests after a month from the big day. Monique, Abigail, Bud and the whole team are amazing. They go above and beyond. Had Alligator Pear do an event for 225 people in Tarzana recently. Although our event had several challenges, Collette & team were able to be flexible to work with our committee all the way. The menu was fantastic & everyone raved about the food. Salad of baby greens was marvelous, couscous was delightful. Lightly breaded chicken breast medallions with lovely mustard sauce & very popular salmon option. Fantastic platters of roasted veggies were a hit. Nice selection of cookies, brownies & filled cupcake balls topped it off. Great people to work with & brought everything in for our budget. Highly recommend. read more

We ordered boxed lunches from Alligator Pear for a bowling/birthday party. The food was delicious! This was not your dry sandwich, chips, and apple lunch, but beautifully prepared and presented, foodie food, from the mahogany chicken with roast shallot cream sauce, lemon and herb crusted salmon with pineapple salsa, to the pretzel bread with white bean caponata everything was exceptional, fresh, healthy and delicious. It was a last minute order and although they faced an exceptionally busy weekend, Collette was fabulous to work with and very accomodating. I am an event planner and recently had the pleasure of working with Alligator Pear at a wedding this past Sunday. Bud and his staff were nothing short of phenomenal. Colette, Bud, Ronan, Vicki, John, John and Mario are the best. Colette worked and reworked the menu, understood budgetary constraints and identified food for any allergies. Bud put all the fine details together prior to the event. Ronan and his crew arrived on time and were simply the most amazing team of support. They went to work and even helped with presentation. Second year in a row having Alligator Pear cater a company party for 80-100 guests. The 'small bites' menu is perfect for the 'drop in' buffet style food they are great at preparing. There were 7 choices including vegan, high quality meats/seafood, and excellent 'fun' desserts. Additionally, the staff were super fun, the decor was gorgeous (they brought linens, holiday decor, greens, etc) and everyone is professional and efficient. Highly recommend!! read more

Unfortunately, I had a rather bad experience with these caterers. I was hosting a dinner at my home and engaged their services. I had a long talk with one of the owners and, when I said that I specifically wanted food that could be served at room temperature, they readily made suggestions. We put together a menu and they arrived that day. Regrettably (and the food was not inexpensive), the two main dishes were largely inedible and we had tons of leftovers. I emailed Bud about the food and how it was unsatisfactory, and did not hear back. A few weeks later, he emailed me about the final payment and asked if I could put a check in the mail. I reminded him that I had paid with a credit card and asked him again as to why the food was not good. His response was "As for the food, I did check in with the chef and they did not report any problems in the preparation or with any of the recipes, however, they did mention that many of the items on the menu would definitely taste better prepared on site and served hot." I remain mystified as to why I was not told this when I was ordering as I specifically requested food that could be served this way. Never again with these guys... I liked Hector and his friend though - they were terrific at serving what was completely terrible food. read more

What a great team. I had an event for 100 people. Everyone is still talking about the food. They were willing to work with our budget and paid attention to every detail. Their staff was amazing especially Bud who worked through all of the details and was an absolute professional. I wish I threw more parties because I would hire then again in a second. Excellent food, presentation, and service. Just came back from a party for the faculty of UCLA's department of Pathology. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. My son and I loved the food and deserts. Absolutely was delicious and presented so lovely. The food tasted fresh, tasty, and healthy. I met the chef in passing and noticed the name of the catering company on his shirt. I just looked them up on the web, and I will be calling this company to do my catering as well. I admit to having rather high standards - and Alligator Pear exceeded them. My friends are still talking about the great food and service. The food was a delightful combination of familiar flavors with just that little difference that makes it all so interesting. Well-presented, visually attractive, and definitely delicious. The staff, led by Kimberly, were professional and yet fun. The bartender, Michael, was not only knowledgeable, but very personable. From the first email both Abigail Chilton, owner, and Bud Coury, operations director, helped me to create the menu I wanted and also helped me to stay within my budget for 60 guests. Thanks to Abi and Bud's expertise and understanding, they also made me aware of some things I had not considered - but that made all the difference. I never take the time to write reviews but my exceptional experience with Alligator Pear at a large family event (couple's baby shower) warrants comment. The food (Chardonnay shrimp with risotto and roasted shallot cream, pecan encrusted chicken with blueberry chutney, Santa Fe corn cakes with avocado salsa to name just a few of the tasty offerings) was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented on multiple tiers creating a sophisticated high-end atmosphere. A friend of mine (a Senior VP of special events at Sony Pictures) referred me to Alligator Pear for my mother-in-laws 75th birthday party (I was very anxious as my mother-in-law is like Martha Stewart and expects perfection in all things). I called Abi and Bud at Alligator Pear and discussed my vision with them over the course of 3 weeks they created the most impressive and beautiful event I have ever thrown. The florals were stunning, unique, completely on point with our color scheme for our event, the food was delicious, creative, "the best apps I've ever had" as several people stated at the event. the linens and flatware were gorgeous, the bartendar and staff were all friendly, personable, calm, efficient, diligent and effective. If there was a hiccup or problem to be solved - Hector, the manager, was on top of it immediately and already providing a solution before I had a chance to worry!
