I had TCLA at a work event and the options were chicken, pork or beef tacos with Mexican rice and refried beans. The toppings available were onions with cilantro and salsas, and they provided bowls of chips. I was a bit underwhelmed in comparison to some other taco companies that we have had, but it could have been the package that we bought this time was minimal. Warning: there is pineapple in the pork. READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING!! If you don't get an "invoice" from these people then you're not confirmed. I texted the number I found here on yelp and the person got back to me saying that he was at an event and he would get back to me. When he texted me back we went over the date, time, the cost and everything the price included. I CONFIRMED via text and even asked IF I NEEDED TO PAY A DEPOSIT OR ANYTHING ELSE TO BOOK and he said all he needed was my name, email, and address. HE NEVER MENTIONED NO DANG INVOICE!!!! Come the day of the party I texted them just to make sure they were on their way to my place and this guy tells me he has nobody "locked in" for 11:30. I immediately called him and he said he didn't know who I was and he didn't have anyone booked for 11:30am. So I quickly screenshot all of my texts to him and resent them. The guy was silent on the phone. Didn't even know what to say. He never sent me an invoice and that meant I wasn't booked nor confirmed and he didn't know what to tell me. Franks tacos are always amazing and consistent!! I booked him for my grandmother's birthday party last weekend as I had tied his tacos at a party I was attending just last month! Three choices of meat were all incredible especiall the. chicken!!! My strategy is try all meats then go back for seconds with my favorites and for me they were all equally delicious! The meats (asada, pollo, al pastor) are well-seasoned and very tasty; the guests kept coming back for more! The rice and salsas (3 kinds including a guac salsa) were very fresh and very good, with the spice levels distinct for each one. One was a bit pricey, another one never picked up the phone or called back when I left a message. I'm so happy that Frank answered and gave me a quote right away. We were so happy with Taco Catering L.A. when they catered our backyard party this past weekend. The team (Jesus and a very sweet young lady whose name I didn't get) arrived right on time, got everything set up and served us right when they said they would. The food was so delicious! I decided to give them a try based on their great reviews. My usual taco guy was booked. The scheduling process was pleasant. However the cook had a very dry personality. When arriving to the event location he complained because he would be in a close proximity to the DJ and stated his ears would hurt. We then placed him far away from the DJ with a patio heater to keep him warm since he was also complaining about the cold weather. When I introduced myself to him, he barely even replied. A few of my guests also tried to ask him a few questions and he ignored them or answered with a rude attitude. Let's get to the food. Tacos were bland, nothing great. Nothing to rave about. When I booked them he mentioned he would bring a Jamaica free of charge and he didn't bring it. Giving them one star because the tacos were pretty good. I think there needs to be a better way of communicating because texting isn't the most professional and half the time they don't reply or it's late which i am giving them the benefit of the doubt because you're texting someone's personal phone. I think the number belongs to the owner Frank. Personally I had originally given a start time then asked if we could change it to 30 min later which he said yes two more than once but then when he sent me the invoice it was still the original time. So I asked again if we could start the food 30 minutes later which he said yes but never sent the updated invoices so when they arrived to set up an hour and a half early instead of an hour based on the start time I wasn't sure if it was communicated to the cooks because they said they were setting up late which wasn't true if they just needed an hour before start time to set up and cook the food. Anyway aside from that not sure if the language barrier was getting in the way of one of the cooks but she didn't seem too happy the other seemed fine. I think Frank should be more upfront with specifics when it comes to serving's because I did ask if there was a limit which he replied that most people come back for seconds which I think is obvious but I guess he tells the workers that they can only serve 3 tacos at a time. My guests were ready to eat and who isn't excited for tacos but when they went to order the woman right away after of course my guest orders 4 tacos says rudely you can only get 3 my boss says we need to tell you only 3 so this discourages them from wanting to come back for more which in the end caused us to have so much left over that went to to the trash. We are paying basically $16 per person and this is not fair if you are making them feel bad for asking for 4 tacos. I think next time you should tell us to give them a heads up Instead of having them be shut down or even denying them more because not everyone has arrived yet to eat. It really sucks when you see such great reviews and expect to have great service and it's not what you get. Frank arrived 1.5 hours before the food was to be served. I was still getting ready for our party but I only had to tell him where to set up and he was set to go. I'd like to thank Frank and his crew for catering for a joint birthday party my friends and I threw. It was very relaxing to not have to worry about cooking for guests. Although, there was a little confusion with the time, Frank was very understanding!! He had a great layout and spread for the extras (Aguas, salsa, guac, tortilla chips, napkins, plates, and forks). The food was excellent! Everyone enjoyed the food and, even though guests went for 3rds, 4ths, and 5ths, there was a good amount of leftovers. Frank's team catered my house warming people. We had around 60-70 people. We had two people come. One person who did the cooking (I forgot his name) and then one who assisted with setting up etc. (her name was grace). They were both very nice/professional. They brought their own table, cooking grill, napkins, plates and serving utensils and table cloths. The price of the tacos was very reasonable and we had plenty of leftovers. Everyone was raving about the pork meat AKA al pastor meat. The different salsas were amazing. I would still buy some extra bags of chips as we ran out towards the end of the party and had plenty of salsa to eat from. Oh and I loved the chicken meat. The ground beef was probably my least favorite but still enjoyable. I was super I highly recommend this company. I would hire them in a heartbeat and I don't say that often haha.
