I cannot say ENOUGH about Taylor and her incredible team. My bridesmaid fell and dropped the cake and they were able to recover it cleanly and fix it. They were on top of EVERYTHING at the wedding and eased my mind the entire time. I never had to lift a finger. Everyone was a riot and so incredible to work with and WOW the food was incredible. The korean short rib was fantastic, the vegan options were really creative and our guests loved it. It really felt like "got" us. Chef Terry and her team are the absolute greatest of all time and we were so lucky that they went above & beyond to trek out from Los Angeles all the way to Big Sur for our wedding! They charge a ridiculously reasonable rate for the high quality food they provide and are all warm, kind people to boot. The food is so creative and always tasty. There is no ego either-- we had a dish during the tasting that we didn't love and they were quick to pivot with more ideas. They are also pros and experts-- guiding us to the best types of dishes for a destination wedding with all kinds of tricky limitations. The wedding cake was DIVINE. They were so kind to wrap up 2 large slices for us immediately so we could enjoy in bed, post-wedding :) Food was super important to us-- we wanted it to feel like an intimate dinner party with 50 of our nearest and dearest. We did a tasting with Spotted Hen a few months ago and it was a disaster. I would not recommend them for anyone with attendees with food allergies or dietary restrictions. I had sever food allergies that were shared in an RFP before the tasting. When we arrived, they were unaware of the allergy, and when we discussed it, they were able to pivot on one of the dishes that was impacted - which was very nice especially on short notice. They remade the meat portion there with us, and walked through all ingredients with me to make sure everything would be alright. I didn't taste items that were not advised, and despite missing out on things was generally good. About an hour later, I got violently ill and lost consciousness in the bathroom briefly, and my fiancé tried to get me in to a doctor. When we reached out about the issue, the response from spotted hen was unprofessional to day the least. "There will be no refund and please do not contact me again. The tasting was horrible, their wants were not communicated at all, we made a ton of food that had nothing to do with what they wanted for their wedding and there was no cross-contamination. Every single other item was gluten-free and the only thing that wasn't was the steak and the chicken. The bride took items off of the platter that had the steak and the chicken on it knowing that they had soy sauce on them so if she got ill from doing that that was her choice. Goodbye." We tasted with three caterers using the exact same RFP the same weekend - Spotted Hen was the only issue. We even had a few caterers decline given the food allergies stated on the RFP - which is completely fine and a better alternative to getting that sick. I would hate to think of any other bride or attendee with food allergies going through this with them. read more

Dinner was served noticeably late (and my friends who got married confirmed this). My wife and I went with Spotted Hen as they were on the list of approved caterers for our venue. That was already a huge mark in their favor as our venue was very uptight, so anyone who met their approval was clearly solid, professional, and likely had a good track record. We took a chance and set up a tasting. Honestly, the tasting alone was worth the booking. We were immediately treated like family and were given amazing food, amazing wine, and had a truly wonderful time getting to know this catering team. On the actual day, we didn't know if they could replicate the experience we had at the tasting but they truly went above and beyond. Every guest complimented us on the food, both in terms of taste and presentation. Our photographer was so enthralled by the entrees that she forgot to take photos of them. My wife and I made the decision to do most of the planning ourselves and just went with a planner on the wedding day. Spotted Hen clearly and easily communicated everything they needed to be provided by the rental agency and it was truly almost nothing. I still don't know how they did it. The salmon was flaky and moist, the steak was hearty and flavorful, and the cake was truly divine. It really felt, more so than any other vendor that we hired, that we were on a team together and that these people were our friends. I can't communicate how much that helps with the stress of the day. We knew we were in good hands, and were delighted when Taylor came out to check on us as the evening was winding down. We worked with Spotted Hen for our wedding at Smogshoppe on 10/28/23, and from start to finish everything was beyond fantastic! Food was very important to us (especially my now husband, it was his number one most important thing for our wedding!), and let me say we and our guests were not disappointed!!
