I went for breakfast as I knew nothing about the restaurants in the area that served breakfast and Lolo's was next to the hotel i was staying in. It's a cute little run down place. A refresh of their booths and the mirrored pillars wouldn't be a bad idea. Their table chairs looked to be any thing but comfortable. The menu is attached so you can see how rather sparse (not in and of itself a problem) and expensive it is. Yes, Miami, vacationers, you will pay more, but $29 for a simple breakfast is ridiculous. The fruit was fresh. The OJ wasn't fresh squeezed but had the taste and texture of fresh squeezed. I only tried one, but the breakfast potatoes were good. The greens were bathed in a dressing I found unappealing. The eggs were nice, but like another of eggs, a tad cold. The whole wheat toast was under toasted and chewy. The bacon was was good. Sadly, after $35 plus I am leaving unsatisfied and hungry. Oh, well. I did see other people get items I did not (i have dietary restrictions) that look good, but I can't vouch for their quality. We were in Miami for NYE and decided to have early dinner at Lolo's surf cantina as it was the nearest restaurant located outside the Nikki beach. The restaurant is hard to find as it is located inside the Stanton hotel. We ordered Guacamole and nachos, Chicken bowl, shrimp bowl and Churros. The food was absolutely delicious but the portion sizes were small. The food is absolutely delicious here. I am rating it 3 stars cause of the few red flags we noticed and experienced at this place. Firstly, our server asked us if we wanted to start off with Guacamole and nachos without handing us the menu. We immediately said yes instinctively later to realize that it was the costliest dish amongst small plates. It was $17. Secondly, the server also asked us if we wanted bottled water or sparkling water to which we asked for bottled water. They charged us $10 for water alone. Thirdly, the bill already included 18% gratuity still the server politely asked to tip us on top of it and we tipped too under pressure. Overall not a good experience for our family. read more

Located at the Stanton Hotel, for convenience sake we chose Lolo's Cantina as our early dinner on this BOGO 1/2 of Taco Tuesday. Birria's were delicious, but the accompanying consommé unfortunately had no depth. So we did without the obligatory dipping. The Veggie Tacos were a hit, with a combo of veggies and added tasty components. There was one other taco that was also good. I think it was the Carnitas that were clearly marinated at length and seemed to have been stewed all day. It had flavors that reminded me of something I would've made at home. The food here is great. The chips and salsa are homemade and so tasty. Chicken flautas very flavorful and the spicy shrimp tostada was phenomenal with fresh shrimp and perfectly seasoned guacamole. We went for hh and the menu has drinks and food for $5- great deal! The margs weren't that good, seemed watery and had to ask for salt/tajin on the rim. Also the servers were NOT friendly at all like very weird vibes from them. It's a cute place with an outdoor patio out back which is where we sat. So much variety and everything we had was delicious. If you are a Marriott guest or sitting on the beach in the Marriott Stanton space, you can get food and drinks ordered to your chairs. During my visit to the beach, Came in around 3pm and realized the $5 specials are from 4-7pm, so I kept it simple. Got chips and guac with sparkling water. The guac was nice and fresh. We came in here about 40 mins before they closed, they treated us like they were open all night still. Never felt rushed or like we were an inconvenience. The food was definitely different than our typical Mexican food experience, but very good. It seemed fresh and clean. We both had a burrito bowl and they were both great! We got chips and salsa and a fish taco. My sister and I also tried a couple of their happy hour drinks. They had outdoor seating, but we decided to sit inside at the bar to stay cooler in our "little black dresses" for dinner time. We had a way fun bartender and found out she had a birthday recently too. She made up a shot on the fly just for our (my sister's and my) birthday! It was the best shot! Lolo's is attached to the Stanton Marriott in South Beach where we stay when we visit Miami. Since the Stanton Marriott did away with the Concierge lounge a few years ago, this restaurant is where you have breakfast as part of your Elite benefits. It also provides food and drinks via servers who work the pool and beach for the Marriott. They also serve lunch and dinner with Happy Hour specials and Taco Tuesday specials. The servers are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is hit or miss from the standpoint of how long it takes to get your food regardless of the number of patrons in the restaurant. Not sure if it's the takeout orders or just the proficiency of the kitchen that impacts the timing. We have gone to Happy hour and had dinner on occasion especially if it's raining out or wanting a quick bite before heading to the airport. The mixed drinks could probably use a little more alcohol but we have left the bar with a buzz, albeit after spending $100 at the bar. Food is good, would say average Mexican street fare. Their hot salsa is outstanding though. Lolo's works in a pinch or for convenience but there are more and better options on SoBe. read more

Lolo's has fantastic food. It is very flavorful and filling. I went here three days in a row and the food was always great. However, the food takes a long time to come out and the service from day-to-day got progressively worse. In terms of the food, I got the eggs benedict and the avocado toast. Both had a lot of flavor. The eggs benedict had a twist with a nice chorizo-like meat. The avocado toast was light but filling. In terms of the service, the servers got progressively worse from day-to-day in terms of coming to the table, checking-in and having an attitude while taking the order. Additionally, the restaurant never had more than 5 tables of people while I was there, but the food always took at least 35-40 minutes to come out. This might be attributed to the fact that the restaurant serves the hotel, hotel pool and the hotel beach. So, I would make sure you have time if you decide to eat here. Overall, Lolo's Surf Cantina is a good place to go for a good meal with anyone but make sure you have time as it may take a while to get your food. read more
