Ok well I was relucant to use Allmake after reading all these 1 star reviews. I needed a GE profile microwave open door opening part replaced. i called on Friday afternoon and explained what was wrong and he said he knew exactly what the issue was and would call monday morning to say what time. He called when he said he would and the tech arrives on time. He says has to order the part. 2 days later part is in, they called again to say will be here to finish the job and both times was right on time. Not all repair companies even want to repair microwaves so i have to say i had no issues with anything regarding Allmake. This wasn't a big money maker for them. read more

Called them to repair our Kenmore front loading washer. Friendly guy came out and in 20 seconds said we needed a new door gasket and they would order it. 3 weeks later he returned and installed it. It was not inexpensive. Washer still leaked and they blew off 3 appointments with us. Finally gave up and called in another service. Turns out the leak was from a small hose that came off its fitting-a 5 minute issue but I luckily spotted the fact that the gasket was put on improperly and in fact the rear retaining spring was mangled by Allmake which would have soon resulted in a flood if we had continued using the machine. Had to pay to have the job redone. Stay away from these guys. They are out to make a few quick bucks off unsuspecting consumers while they can. They are perpetuating consumer fraud. read more

Took $500 to fix my dishwasher. After 2 months and 3 failed attempts, I was told that it was actually something different they needed to replace. Owner told me he would "give me a deal" and only charge me another $300, for a total of over $800! I didn't pay him anymore, but he kept all $500 after not fixing the problem. First of all this is not a rant, although I am angry. I'm only going to present facts based on my experience. Feel free to make up your own mind. Allmake has visited my 87 year old friend 4 times, (the first time to diagnose the problem so lets not count that visit) to repair a leaking 2013 dishwasher. In three successive visits, and over $300 spent, the dishwasher's still leaking. At this point, my friend has called and left messages with Allmake, her calls have not been returned, and written them, her letter never replied to. I decided to try and help her out, and made my own call. I was pleasant and polite, as was the business owner, he said he was aware of my friend's problem, would speak to the service tech, and call me back. That was over a week ago, and no call back. To summarize, over $300 billed, inability to repair problem after three tries, phone calls and written correspondence unanswered. Here's a tip for anyone needing appliance repair in general. A. Have the year, model, and serial number of your appliance before you call. B. To the best of your knowledge describe the problem in detail. C. If you're up for it, Google the info I just asked you to collect, and see if the internet has a solution for your problem. It may be much simpler than you think. The above info may make it possible for the repairman to come to your home with the correct part/parts to fix your appliance on the first visit, and with a minimum of their/your time wasted. Now, that you've read this, take a second to look at the reviews not currently recommended by Yelp for Allmake Ridgewood. 12 of the 16 reviews currently not recommended are overwhelmingly negative regarding appliance repair experiences with this location. read more

I am not writing a review as an appliance buyer, but as someone who called for a mechanic for my refrigerator and I have to say they are the absolute worst. My refrigerator as been acting up for about a week now and finally got around to getting a mechanic to come and look at it. According to the refrigerator manufacturer, there were only a few mechanics in the area who knew how to fix my refrigerator, and the only one available when someone in the house was available was Allmake Appliance Center. My mother was the one to meet with the mechanic and she explained what had happened and the mechanic did a couple checks, mind you he only did a few checks, nothing too in depth, and said that there was no problems and that we should wait for the freezer to start freezing. Are you kidding me??? This has been like this for a week! I think a week of waiting is long enough!! He then told my mother that we would send another mechanic who can do a more thorough job the next day. He was then asked for payment for doing absolutely nothing to the fridge and my mom waited for the next mechanic. Two days have passed and no mechanic has shown. My dad said screw it and will be ordering a new fridge tomorrow. Whatever you do, do not, I repeat, DO NOT HIRE A MECHANIC FROM HERE. They are crooks and will only take your money, you are better off going else where. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Their repair rep couldn't fix the problem. He suggested we call the manufacture. The manufacture sent another repair company (at our expense) and fixed the issue in 5 minutes. When I tried to discuss this with Allmake Appliance Center they didn't return calls and basically ignored us. If you have the guts to try using Allmake make sure you use AMEX so you are protected since once you pay them you won't see the money again. The WORST repair experience ever!!! The owner (who uses a personal aol address) is aggressive, dishonest, surly and threatening. Sent a tech who diagnosed the issue, billed $133.75, scheduled a repair appointment and was told I'd receive a call about the time window. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP OR CALLED TO CANCEL. When I reached out to the tech, he said he was surprised the owner hadn't called bcs the parts 'had come in defective' and new ones were being overnighted. When I reached out to the owner I never heard back, then emailed and owner claimed my VMB was full and that's why I never heard from them. So much for Home Advisor's 'secured network'. That's probably their only source of referrals, given the awful reviews I should have checked on YELP first. This 'business' is a ripoff don't get involved with them! My four year old GE refrigerator went down. Called GE but they could not come until the next day. I should have accepted that and waited for GE. Instead someone told my wife to call Allmake. Allmake came the same day but said they had to order parts. It took A WEEK AND A HALF for the parts. When the parts were installed for $618 the refrigerator still did not work, instead the refrigerator section turned into a freezer with all foods frozen. We called back and the guy said we needed a different type of fan system. Now we've been waiting for that part for a week. The guy now says that we won't get it until next week. By that time we're three weeks without a working refrigerator. The owner says the parts industry is a leper colony. No parts warehoused in the US. I asked about overnight deliver, and it was like asking for the absurd. I called the dealer where we bought the appliance and they said we should have stayed with the GE service because they may have found parts still under warranty or would have quicker access to parts availability. The dealer also said that these appliances are designed to last about five years and then thrown away. To quote the dealer "We're in a 'Throwaway' economy ". Allmake says not their fault, but I don't know if they're blowing smoke up my butt. He's pissed and I'm pissed. Great business to be in! All I know is that I have no usable refrigerator and don't give a crap about their screwed up supply system. Something very wrong with this whole industry. Obviously the manufacturers are building failures into their digital electronics to make you buy a new one every 4 or 5 years. Then they reduce parts inventory. And we bend over and take it. 5/31/18: Okay, they finally fixed it after 15 days so I'm upping begrudgingly to three stars. The repairman, Ishmael , seems like a nice guy; that's why I'm mellowing. But I think he's numb to all the complaints, so he just stays happy. The owner, Henry, is just as big a pain in the butt as I am. Henry says that there are no regional warehouses for parts. And when they send the part, the Neanderthals from third world countries working in the warehouse screw it up. It seems that the manufacturers want the independent repair guy out of business so that you're forced to buy new units. The repair guys seem to hate the junk that's out there. The prices for parts are inflated, but they have to make a living. Next time anything acts up on an appliance, just toss it to the curb and forget calling a repair guy. No longer worth it. I had a scheduled appt., with a window between 2 and 4. After 4 o'clock, I called twice and was reassured, although late, he would definitely be there! RIGHTO!! Finally, after waiting ALL DAY, I got a call that he encountered a problem, and if I'd like, I could have the first appt. in the morning! Well..alrighty! FINE!!! I will NEVER use this company again! They charged me $99 for a dryer fuse that when I looked up online can be sold at a hardware store for under $10. They also informed me when I called that they would apply the $85.00 trip charge to the rest of my bill if after their diagnostics I chose to have them repair my dryer. I had them repair my dryer and was still charged the full $85.00 plus an additional $65 for labor! Their customer service is worse than their prices- I called and complained about both the INSANE mark up on the part and that I was still charged the $85 trip charge and the man on the line was beyond rude. If I was able to leave no star I would have. I have never had such a bad experience with any repairman I have ever used. Henry "the owner" has been lying to me and putting me off since January. His repairman finally showed up once after one excuse after another. Once he said he had emergency surgery and another time he said he was pulled over by the police because his windshield was too dark! After he replaced the gaskets on our refrigerator doors (and paid $600) we noticed that they were installed improperly and condensation was forming in the entire refrigerator. After many phones and unkept dates that the parts would be in we had an appointment for today. I reminded henry that my building required certain paperwork before he could enter. He assured me that he has done this for years and knows what to do. He was scheduled to be here between 12and 2 today. It is now 5:30 and no word from him. The management office in my building said he sent some of the insurance forms but not the workmen's comp. he most likely doesn't pay for it and lies that he has it. The Most frustrating and worst repair service I have ever encountered. My Miele dishwasher wasn't working. They came and diagnosed that it as a motor issue and I had a choice to repair (part was $900) plus labor. We discussed buying a new one or doing the repair because it was a built in with matching cabinet. Henry the owner said that I would basically have a new dishwasher and that nothing else major could go wrong except the control panel thats probably a few hundred dollars. I chose repairing. I waited three weeks for the new part. It worked for 3 months then it stopped working again. They came back and it was the panel issue. Miele sent the parts directly this time and two parts were faulty. I paid 500 for the new control panel. They fixed that and now the original problem started again. They just replaced the motor for the second time and now doesn't work again. They did not charge me for the labor on the second motor nor the panel. I just feel like this could have been resolved back in June and it is now August and I still have no working Dishwasher! And all Henry could say is welcome to my world....parts come in bad all the time and we deal with this all the time. When I complained and wanted my money back Henry told me That I was obviously not the type of person with integrity! That he has been doing his best and they wouldn't be in service for so long if they treated customers badly. He is very polite in a condescending way and Ismael is a very guy guy. After not working again, I called last night and haven't heard from him all day. Furthermore, I was never put on as a priority and told he has other customers who need his service and they were already scheduled...meanwhile I was cancelled a bunch of times. He said It's their busiest time of the year, etc, etc. Well, I scheduled almost two months ago! Very upset with his integrity and after seeing all the other complaints here even more upset with myself for being so patient with him for almost two months! I don't trust him. We had a great experience working with this company. I called about my dryer not working and they scheduled a convenient appointment for me the next morning. The tech person called me in the morning the next day and arrived exactly the time he said he would arrive (that never happens). The dryer was fixed within 30 minutes and the guy was very pleasant to deal with. Overall a very good experience. Would call them again in a minute. read more

Allmake Appliance Center was recommended by Home Advisor. The vendor reached out to us - called us a few times before we decided to engage them to repair our dishwasher. Their technician showed up on September 8th, 2017, 45 minutes late, inspected the dishwasher and stated that the "motherboard" was dead and had to be replaced. He charged us $72 for the call and promised to provide an estimate for the repair on Monday, September 11th. Today is September 27th and, despite multiple calls and promises to give me an estimate "the next day", I am still waiting. I should have relied on Allmake Appliance Center's Yelp reviews (1 star) and Google reviews (2 star) instead of those on Home Advisor (5 stars). read more

I contacted Allmake Appliance Center in Ridgewood, NJ and made an appointment for July 7 to look at my Dacor oven that needed repair. The repairman came and said they would get back to me in 24 hours once they located the part. When they didn't get back to me in several days, i called the store. I was told the part was no longer available in the United States. I asked them if that meant I needed to replace my 8 year old Dacor oven. They said it appeared so. I called Dacor and within 30 minutes they located the part I needed. I called Allmake, told them I found the part, however, they would not order the part for me and said they only dealt with one distributor. Reluctantly, I ordered the part and Allmake ordered an additional part for the oven. They were scheduled to put in the part and gave me a 2 hour window. When they didn't show up, I again called Henry, the owner of Allmake and asked him to get back to me. He never called me back that night. The repair department called the next morning to say they were stuck in traffic due to a storm - no phone call the day of the scheduled appointment. I finally called another appliance repair store. They came, installed the part I had purchased. They did not need the extra part Allmake ordered. I appreciate good customer service but did not find it at Allmake Appliance. read more

Terrible experience with repair. They did a very expensive repair when then top oven on a double wall oven started beeping with error codes at the end of self cleaning cycle. They replaced the whole electric panel and top oven parts. They had trouble pushing back into place and I see now it's not flush. I used all year but when I tried to self clean almost a year later, I got a door error code, meaning it wont lock for self cleaning. A new top lock was one of the parts they installed. Repair person came and just told me i shouldn't self clean. Despite repeated calls, they refuse to answer or help. I have taken my complaint to Better Business Bureau, and Allmake won't return their calls either. read more

This review is based on my interactions with them, not their appliance repair ability. For all I know these guys are staffed by CalTech and MIT engineers and invented the microwave, probably not, but I have no way of knowing. So I had a few appliances that needed repair. I was stupid enough to buy a Samsung fridge. Not the stupidest thing I have ever done, that would be either not buying that duplex in Hoboken for $65K in 1996 or selling my 50 shares of Priceline at about $10 back in 2000, but I digress... Apparently Samsung fridges are known in the appliance industry as being unreliable, and few places fix them, because they always break again and the customer blames the repair place. So after running through 4 or 5 "A rated" places on AngiesList that don't deal with Samsung, I went to Google (mistake number 1). These guys came up, apparently have been around a long long time, so I decided to give them a try (mistake number 2). I picked them for only one reason they did have one distinguishing characteristic - they service Samsung appliances. I was reluctant after reading their Yelp reviews, but I was desperate. They were pleasant enough on the phone, and had quick availability, I made an appointment for a weekday afternoon, and was given a service window of 2 hours. I hate service windows, but I understand delays happen, jobs are more involved than expected, etc. So i rearranged my schedule, no small feat, and sat waiting for the serviceperson to show up. Hour one goes by, no one. As hour two ticks towards an end, I call their number to try and ascertain when the person is coming - voicemail. No big deal. Halfway through hour 3, I call again - voicemail, and leave a message cancelling the appointment. Not rescheduling, not asking them to call back, etc. Cancelling. Not open to interpretation. I also included something akin to, "thanks for nothing, I am going to call someone else." That may seem a tad picky, but in the era of GPS and cellphones, call and say the person is running late, they got a flat tire, etc, No big deal, but to just leave me sitting there, unacceptable. Even everyone's arch nemesis the cable repair people keep you posted on their progress these days. So I thought nothing of it until this morning. My kids are off from school, so I had a chance to actually sleep a little late. That is until... my cell phone starts ringing at about 8 AM (okay it was time to get up anyway I guess). It was some guy who I assume is the ringmaster for this circus of an operation, basically telling me the technician will at my house at 8:30? He then tells me they came by yesterday and spoke to my wife, but she said to call and deal with me. She never mentioned they came by, so I challenged that point, but the rest was BS. I never rescheduled, they never called, and my wife tells me she didn't reschedule, she told them to get lost, because we never rescheduled we cancelled. So I somewhat impolitely tell the guy he is mistaken, I don't want a service, I cancelled when they didn't show up last time, they didn't come by yesterday (I was wrong, it happens, not often, but it happens), and stop wasting my time. So I hang up and... the guy calls back! He starts telling me that they were only 15 minutes late last time (BS - I was here). They came by and spoke to my wife yesterday for a rescheduled appointment (part BS, as above they did show, the issue is why?), they called and spoke with me yesterday about this morning (BS) and we rescheduled for today (BS). So that's 3.5 BSs in 4 statements. Even Trump has a better record for the truth (barely). Amazingly, the guy seemed like he wanted to argue. He wasn't threatening or anything like that, it was just weird. No matter what he said it was obvious they weren't getting the job, so why bother? Anyway, so here I am, back on Yelp, looking for someone to fix our fridge (it works, it that one of the handles broke off). Next time I will give due credit to the reviews. Lesson learned. read more

I only wish I had read all the other reviews about Allmake Appliance Center before I called Allmake Appliance Center and asked them to come over to fix my washing machine. On Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 someone came to look at the machine, He turned the dial and told me he doesn't have the part but he will get it and bring it back and I will hear from them either that day or the next day. He said he wanted $90.95 and that this amount would be deducted from the total cost once the machine was repaired. I never heard back from Allmake Appliance Center. Last Tuesday, 9/20, I called Allmake Appliance Center again, got a guy (said his name was Henry) and he asked me for the number on the receipt which I read off to him and he said that the parts department had been closed from the previous Thursday through Monday and he didn't have a copy of my receipt but said he would look into it and call me back later in the day. He never called back so on Wednesday, 9/21, i decided to pay him a visit at his location at 51 Chestnut Street in Ridgewood, NJ. There is a lovely women's gym/spa located at that address. Next to the gym/spa is a doorway enclosing 3 doors; one is a business with it's name on the door (definitely not Allmake) and the other two are locked, no name on either door, and the mail slots in both doors are nailed shut so as to not receive mail there. I waited an hour to see if anyone would come in or out of either of those doors and no one ever showed. I just came from my bank and my check for $90.95 was cashed by him through the First Niagara Bank in Ridgewood, NJ. I plan to have my bank contact his bank to see what, if anything, can be done to stop this scam from happening to anyone else. First time I have ever been scammed. It won't happen again. read more

This company has been one of the most frustrating I have ever dealt with. Contacted 12/9 for washing machine repair. Technician came promptly on the day scheduled, diagnosed the problem and said the owner would call me that day or the next with a price. Did not hear from him so I called a few days later. Gave me the price and said part was back ordered for a week or more. Called again after that time and was told it might be in within a few days. Called again and was told they would have it to install on 12/23. Technician came and informed me that the supply house had sent the wrong part. When I asked whose fault it was, he told me that the box that housed the part gave the correct info but the wrong part was in the box. Have no way of knowing whether this was true or not. Now, because of the Christmas holiday, I had to wait until 1/8 for repair. Repair made and I chose to pay by credit card. Was told the boss would call to take info which did happen within the hour of tech leaving my house (remember all of the phone calls that I had to make prior to this because I was not getting much feedback on my part. Seems they are much more on the ball when they need something from me!). Told owner I wanted a receipt and he said it would be sent immediately. Did not come for over a week so I AGAIN called. Got an apology and receipt was sent. I went over the charges upon receiving it and saw a $15 overcharge. Called owner and was told it would be handled immediately. Immediately never came, called again about a week later and was told that there was a new bookkeeper and that she was only there on Friday and it would be taken care of on 1/12. It is now a week later and still not resolved. Called and left a message that I was contacting the credit card company if it was not resolved on 1/19. No resolution. Was with a group of 7 friends last night and was venting my frustration over this situation and 2 of the 7 people there had huge problems with this company. I had no washing machine for over a month! My advice is to stay away from this company. There are many other reputable companies that would welcome your business. read more

After multiple calls, Ismael finally came to check my warming drawer. I had already been told that the rubber seal was no longer available, but agreed to have them take a look at the problem, as they installed it when I built the house. Ismael came & told me that indeed I need a new seal & he was sure he'd bee able to get one or else at least cut some rubber seal strips to custom fit my drawer. For this I paid $90 & never heard from him or the store again, despite multiple promises from Henry, when I actually got him on the phone, to get back to me "the next day". I have called 5 times since then & got only the voicemail message which says they "will call back immediately"! I have never experienced such bad service. I was mislead to pay for a service call which they knew would nothing that I did not already know beforehand & their tech, outright lied to me. The 2006 refrigerator for my rental property was not cooling well enough - that was the reason I called the Allmake. Henry returned the call, was polite, set up an appointment time and said there will be $85 plus tax service call charge that will be applied towards repair, plus parts if necessary, and if they will not be able to fix it, then $50 credit towards buying a new one. The technician visit lasted less that 15 minutes I am told by my tenant, and they did not call me that day, even though I was trying to get a report. Next day Henry did call me and told that they could not find needed part, and I have $50 credit towards buying a new one from them. I gave him all measurements and details, and he promised to get back to me soon. Have not heard from them since... I Consider it a complete waste of time and money - at least in my case. I have already ordered a new refrigirator elsewhere as my tenants can not wait too long. read more

The Allmake service person was at my home on Jan 31st to repair a built in Kitchen Aid Microwave oven. The service person took everything apart, left it on mob kitchen floor and said he would be back in a week with the replacement part. After many unreturned calls the person answering the phone (Henry) told me that he was waiting for the part to arrive and that is was backordered. When I finally got Henry on the phone once more he told me that the part would be in on March 9th. Once again I could not reach Henry, (the answering device states that they will return a call immediately). When I finally received a return call Henry stated that He would have someone here on March 19th first thing in the AM to see what the issue is. As it turns out Nobody showed up and when I reached Henry I was told his repairman had car trouble. Have not heard from him since.The good news is that on Wed the 21st (a snow day) I reached another repair service, they showed up and by sunday the 25th all is well. Allmake Appliance Center out of Ridgewood NJ is awful. The owner is rude and unprofessional - he will completely rip you off. They diagnosed multiple appliances of mine, charged a fortune for the trip visit, and never repaired anything. They gave me all kinds of excuses of parts being out of stock and discontinued. They never returned phone calls to follow up on anything. I called another local repair company (Dan Marc, who I recommend strongly) and they fixed my appliances quickly and professionally -- Dan Marc had no problem sourcing parts. Allmake refused to refund my money and I'm now seeking litigation. Don't waste your time with them. read more

Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad business. My microwave has remained out of comission due to them ordering the wrong part, never returning my calls, owners on vacation etc for TWO months. Something they told me would take 2-4 days. I wish I paid for the first service call by credit card b/c I would be disputing the charges. They are completely unresponsive. ZERO is my rating. The initial visit went very well. They verified I needed a belt for my dryer, which I already knew from searching the internet and that they would order one. After a week, I got a call asking how old the dryer was and I told them the repair person had that information. They seemed very confused. I still never heard about the belt, so I called them and they could not get the belt, nor could they open the dryer to verify the existing belt did not dislodge. When I asked them why they did not call me, the man on the other end representing Allmake became very confrontational and arrogant. I wasted $ 98.00 for someone to confirm what I already knew from research on the internet. They never even opened the machine to see if the belt had fallen off. Total RIP OFF. Stay away! read more

Wish I had read the previous reviews before I used this company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Charged me hundreds of dollars to fix my dishwasher and its still not working correctly. They refused to come back to fix it. Said that I should check my owners manual. Guy on the phone was so rude. THE WORST read more
