Allstate Landscape Services did an excellent job replaced our grass field with a perfectly contoured putting green with the Golden Bear Putting Green turf. The field is prepped with gopher wire, followed by a layer of top soil, then decomposed granite, the custom pad and then the turf. The turf is covered with 4 lbs per sq ft of silver sand and green sand. The team of Salvador, Porfilio and Luis did an excellent job in preparing the field, create the contour as agreed and laying the turf. Jay, the owner, came and validate the contour of the turf, and Miguel, the supervisor came and validate the smoothness of the turf. This is the second green Jay has put in for us, but this time we did an entire yard with everything from new construction bare yard to completely finished. They ran all the water and electric lines, poured the concrete, all turf, planted entire yard, and finished off with landscape lighting it all. We hired these guys last year. The owner came out and recommended plants for the areas I wanted fixed. He was very knowledgeable. The work should have been better. The tree in the front yard seems to be doing well. The plants along the garage are dying, The plants in the raised bed are not doing well. A few have died. The drip line is not watering them properly. The holes are actually facing away from the plant. The bricks they added in the front were done poorly. The rose bushes are doing well, just not spaced evenly when planted. Overall, I would not hire them again. read more

Jay designed and built my parents yard. He went above and beyond in every part of the process, even taking my mother and I to suppliers for hard scape and spending hours with us to make sure we were happy with the materials, and checked even the most specific details. My parents ended up completely redoing and expanding their driveway with pavers, raising the front yard and installing lights, a fountain, and travertine tile throughout the front and back yards. They also built a pool and a covered patio area that extends from the house a whopping 40-ish feet that goes over an outdoor kitchen. Jay made sure we had only the best and newest materials and his quote was very reasonable. Beyond the end of the construction, Jay visits from time to time just out of pure curiosity to make sure all the water and electrical systems are holding up correctly and not having any issues. We had a couple issues with some irrigation in the backyard and with the fountain in the front and Jay had his team fix it in no time. 10/10 landscaping business that deserves far more recognition than it gets. read more

We were so pleased with their ideas, work ethics and crew, we had them come back and do a front yard makeover. They removed our shrubs, rose bushes and grass. They had been servicing our 80 unit complex for years and when we decided to hire another company to do some minor work for our complex and they were not happy. A few of the owners noticed some of the new plants that we had planted were stepped on and trampled the same day that these jackasses were "servicing" our complex. We looked at the cameras and sure enough an Asstate employee stepped on and killed 4 of our new plants in retaliation ?? We needed a wall placed in our backyard and had been searching for awhile before we came across Allstate. It is a low retaining wall about 2.5ft tall. Jay came out and took a look at what we were working with and offered great ideas on what we could do with the yard to make it water wise and really make it a livable space (it was mostly just a dirt lot). I had previously been working a lot on the yard to level it out and remove as much rock and debris as I could from when it was first put in, and I had dug the trench for the wall and had done the irrigation. Once we had Allstate start the project, Jaime and his team came out and were knowledgeable with what we wanted done. They got to work, but by the 3rd day it was apparent that retaining walls were not what they were known for. Part of the wall slipped down due to the dirt underneath it settling, and rather than stopping and backtracking, one of the crew decided to add concrete underneath the capstone to level out the top, rather than redoing that section of wall. I contacted the office and they came out and took care of it, but it threw off their timeline of a 3 day install. There was also poor planning done of making sure that the foundation for the wall was really set, as the crew had to order extra material (stone block) because the footing trench was too low. Overall on the wall, about 3 complete rows of stone are underground, which could have been originally replaced with a concrete footing to minimize cost. Jay and his staff really did try to fix the issues for us and they were great at communicating (especially Jaime who came out a few different times to speak with me about what was going on), but I wasnt thrilled with the problems that arose. The wall looks decent, and I am the only one who notices any of the issues that still persist with it. read more

The owner twlked a very coold talk for our condominum complex. Howevee his workers are unsupervised and only try to get things done wuickly. The fake laungage problems when yountry tom speak to them. . They have killed all he ornamental plants at one building(about ten). They charged $750 to plant about thee flats ofmplants. Half died. And they killed two mature azalea bushes while doing thing. We had ive as a geoind cover and he seem to have decided to plow int under and replace it wit bare dirt. We cannot get a anyy kind of manager or ownder to rectify our problem. I was very hesitant to replace my real lawn with something synthetic, but my dogs were wreaking havoc on my lawn. I needed some repair work to my sprinklers and wanted an estimate to re-landscape my front yard with drought-tolerant landscaping. It took 7 weeks from my initial contact until the repair work was done--and it was not done correctly. In my opinion this company overcharged me for the small job, did not do the work as they had promised, and took so long to provide a bid to re-landscape the front yard that I didn't bother looking at their bid. Jay is a manipulative fraud. I spent 18k with Allstate for a putting green and landscaping in my backyard. He made promises with low maintenance flowers surrounding the green. He tore up some low maintenance plants that were originally there, and put other plants in that weren't quite as nice as we thought. It would have been acceptable if the rest of the project was better. He told me the maintenance for the putting green was $200 for the year. When we asked for the annual maintenance for the yard, he charged 500 and dropped it to 400 when I reminded him the cost of what he originally promised. The putting green was bumpy with a seam running through the middle of the green. The holes in the putting green were uneven and raised too high. He promised to fix the seam and the rest of the problems, and sent me a bill when he came out to fix it. He told me it would be complimentary. I am paid in full now, but have recommended my friends and acquaintances elsewhere because I was so disappointed with his manipulative promises. Horrible business read more

As things progressed I amended the work order to add more plants, trusting Jay to select ones that would look good and also withstand Castaic's varying climate. His selections were perfect. The workers showed up on time, worked diligently, and cleaned up before they left each day. They went out of their way to accommodate a separate company that was doing a pond/fountain installation. There were different crews for some portions of the job, each one specialists in their particular areas. The last crew fiddled and adjusted each and every drip line until they were just right.
