They had a nice $7 happy hour menu happening so I enjoyed their "Holy Mountain" cocktail (kind of like a spicy Paloma) along with some chips & salsa to tide me over until dinner. Used to love this place. I've been going for about 3 years now and every visit, even pre-covid, has been slightly worse and worse every time. The menu has changed from a really unique and eclectic selection of foods to a weird mix of burgers and basic breakfast food. They've recently changed to a contactless system where you submit your orders and pay completely on your phone. You can't request substitutions through the mobile system either. The waiters hardly interact with you now, which is a bummer because this used to be a cute little neighborhood spot, but now feels very cold and impersonal. Definitely hoping the new ordering system is an experiment and not permanent, because the restaurant is suffering from it. Updated to 3 stars because the food is genuinely good and our waitress was super sweet when we actually got to talk to her, but the staff is pretty much avoiding 90% of contact with customers. read more

Visited Allswell for brunch and had a decent experience. The service was excellent our waitress was really polite and helpful, however, it seemed like everything was really behind. Our omelettes took over an hour to arrive at the table. They were a bit cold but actually quite good still. My husband enjoyed his eggs benedict with smoked salmon. The biscuits are very tasty as well. We will definitely give it another go but just wish the hostess would have been more forthright and told us they were so backed up before seating us. read more

Loved this place, a highlight of our holiday in NYC (visiting from the UK). Loved it so much I've made an account to leave a review. Service was great, attentive and friendly. Loved the food - we just got a small lunch of the sardines and the nachos, the latter we loved so much we're going to try and recreate it at home. Pint of Ebbs on tap was great (and very local). Music brilliant, very fun to hear The Fall on the stereo - an old band from very close to where we live. This is one of the places we've missed much since coming home, it was so cosy and such a perfect felt like the perfect example of the Williamsburg vibe we loved. Hope to return. read more

At first I was a little perplexed because the restaurant was we pretty empty and we were told we would sit anywhere we wanted I tried to slide into the table that was close to a wall & the server right away told us to switch to a table for two people instead. They could have just slid the extra table over to accommodate the imaginary people who needed the vacant table. Weird but then the server tried to tell us we would be more comfortable in the back of the restaurant. We declined and kept our table in the front. Perhaps it was nerves. Who knows. The restaurant or someone had a very old stale cigarette smell which I enjoy (shocking right) & the server was kind enough to offer their suggestions as far as what we should order. I got the green curry which was very good. I don't really care for the miso rice (I'm not sure if thats the correct name) 3.5 stars overall. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with a party of 5 and the restaurant was bustling with energy and people! However, we were still seated within minutes and the service was very quick. The menu is very unique with asian twists into classic american items. There was a brunch menu and an all day menu. We got 2 power bowls, the crispy chicken sandwich, the burger, a cold brew and a cocktail. The power bowls were really flavorful- the thai chicken in particular was so yummy but there was a lot of salt in the sauce and in general the meal was very saucy. The miso black rice and bokchoy with it was amazing though. The last thing to note is that the meal wasn't very filling since there was barely any chicken so next time I'd order more chicken on the side (but it was expensive) read more

Excellent breakfast spot. Really I have no complaints. Everything was wonderful. I ordered the "biscuits and gravy" - biscuits, gravy, 2 sunny side up eggs, and chili. WHAT a combo. I was skeptical but also in the mood to try something new. It was delicious, perfectly portioned, and beautifully presented. My friend had 2 eggs over medium with sourdough toast and bacon. It came with apple butter - best apple-anything ever. We were feeling ambitious that morning and also ordered the pecan pancake to share. The pecans are only on top and the pancake is huge. The menu is a bit limited but they still offer all your breakfast essentials and they do it very well. Service was great. Our server was polite, gracious, and attentive throughout the entire meal. We took a while to order and stayed longer than normal but he was still great even as the restaurant became more crowded. It's a solid 2. Either the reviewers who gave this place 5 stars have not had any better, which would be very sad or maybe we were here on an off day. We didn't put in a complicated order. A fried chicken sandwich, the allswell burger, a Bloody Mary and the grin to wash it all down. You can't really go wrong with this order anywhere in America in my opinion. And yet they managed to fall flat here. My fried chicken sandwich was burnt and I got no flavor out of it. The notable thing though was the sesame seeds. Oh the sesame seeds! There was so much of it on the top, my hands were completely coated with them every time I picked it up. My husbands burger was nothing to write home about he says. My Bloody Mary was ok I guess? I actually don't even remember how it was. This order set us back 81$ with a 20% tip. Would I be back? Most likely not for the food. The one thing they have going for this place is location. There are so many amazing places to eat in Williamsburg! It's too bad that this isn't one of them. Despite its quaint and charming interiors, the wait staff can be anything but pleasant. First strike for me was forgetting items we had ordered, strike two was no one asking us if we needed anything throughout the meal. And strike three was me asking the waitress if she could remove my plate, her not acknowledging it, and then when she came back finally, after ten minutes, and I said I was finished, she said "I heard you the first time". It's not the worst food but it's far from great, and it's cozy, but the staff is either not around to help or rude when they are. There are much better spots around likes Bernie's or cozy Royale. I love this place! Perfect brunch spot- super cute, amazing food, and great service. It get's pretty crowded, so if you don't want to wait you should get there early. As for the food- the cinnamon toast is so simple yet so delicious. It's a must order. I got the special shrimp and grits and it was truly divine. Everything about it was perfect, I hope they add it to the regular menu. My friends got the avo toast and huevos rancheros and both were also BOMB. Iced coffee is great too. All in all, this is the ideal brunch spot. I'll def be back to try everything else on the menu. read more

After spending some time exploring the local breweries of Brooklyn, some friends and I stopped in here to escape the heat for dinner. We started with some cocktails. I got the Wildling, which had rye, lemon and honey. It was very refreshing for a Summer night. In terms of food, all of us went with one of the Burgers. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and added Gouda cheese to it. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned! In terms of ambiance, it's a tiny little spot, but super cute inside. We sat at the large shared table in the middle, which was surprisingly nice and not loud or annoying at all. Service was great as well. Our server was great and attentive, as were all the people assisting him. Overall, this was such a pleasant find. We didn't see anyone else eating food and understood why immediately. Upon arrival, we were told that we cannot "hold up the restaurant" rather rudely. If you like the overzealous American style of service where they greet you and check on you every 5 minutes, this isn't that. This was more of a pub vibe, order for yourself and someone brings you what you ordered. I prefer that, and since you pay online when you order you can just leave when you're ready-great! The food: arrived fast, really tasty, decent portion, perfectly cooked burger. Chicken sandwich was large, I didn't try it but by all accounts was good.
