It was a devastating time, and I was surrounded by incredible kindness from people in my community. One of those people was Marybeth--someone I had never even met. A friend of mine went into her boutique on Lover's Lane and shared what had happened. Without hesitation, Marybeth put together a gift basket for me. She filled it with beautiful items, wrapped it with so much care, and quietly sent it along. She never reached out, never took credit--I truly believed my friend had put it together. In the depths of grief, I kept that basket nearby for months. I wasn't ready to open it, but it brought me comfort just seeing something so thoughtfully made. When I finally did open it, I was overwhelmed by how generous and beautiful everything inside was. Months later, I happened to walk into her boutique and saw a sign honoring Camp Mystic and the girls who lost their lives. I shared that I had lost family in the floods, and that's when Marybeth gently told me that she was the one who had created the basket. Even then, she said it so quietly and humbly. That kind of compassion is rare. This is not just a boutique--it's a place run by someone with a truly kind heart. If you're looking to support a local business that genuinely cares about people, this is it. I will never forget what she did for me.

Marybeth does NOT stand behind the clothes she sells. She won't return your phone calls.read more

The handbag was about 45% off retail. So it was a no brainer. I had never heard of this store in my life. The store was accommodating to my request to have the handbag expedited as it was supposed to be a gift. Unfortunately I was unable to use their 10% discount code for first time customers as the bag was on sale. Being the Holidays, I was hoping they would foot the bill for shipping as a courtesy since I could not use their promo code. This did not happen and I paid an additional 23.00 on top of the 14.00 they charged a new customer who was buying a bag over 500.00. The very next day after I received the bag it went on sale again. It was 176.00 dollars cheaper. I contacted cabana canary to request a price adjustment. I figured that this would not be an issue since most retail stores will honor price adjustments for items that go on sale within a 14 day period. I was told that since they are a small business, they can not do this. I requested a phone call back from the store owner ( Mary Vose). Instead I received an email from a store employee stating they would not do the adjustment. I am a big supporter of small businesses that treat their customers right. Sadly Cabana canary is another typical small store that does not care about customer satisfaction nor maintaining new customers. Their tactic is quite typical on many small businesses who will post on their websites " All sales final",. " No adjustments. " I cannot recommend Cabana Canary as for the reasons mentioned above. They simply don't care about customer satisfaction or maintaining new customers. They just lost what could have been a lifelong customer/client!

If you look carefully, you might notice the doorway is flanked by canary yellow paint. I guess the idea is exclusivity, but even by Dallas standards, I think having no sign goes a little far. That said, the store carries cutting edge clothing for women (got to the website for a list of designers), yet offers service like an old-fashioned boutique. . . .personal service, large dressing rooms, etc. My companion and I had a great time shopping there and left with sacks of very cool gear that we won't see everywhere on everyone. Our salesperson, Melissa, was wonderful--friendly but not syrupy sweet. I had the feeling she would tell me if the puce looked bad with my skin. Check it out! The owner, Merry Vose, first established another nearby popular store, Cabana.

After confirming they were compensated by UPS, I was still charged return fees and given the lowest possible payout. On top of that, I never received site credit for multiple reconsigned items, and a previous credit expired while I was waiting on their investigation. Overall, the process lacked transparency and accountability. Between lost items, incorrect charges, and missing credits, I wouldn't trust them with high-value pieces again.

The first bad experience was that the rep was in California and scheduled my Dallas appointment for California time...then canceled it without asking me. When I finally did get the right appointment, I drove the 45 minutes into Dallas based on her provisional valuation. The store is small, claustrophobic, and a bit shabby. The "valuation" ended up taking just a few minutes, in a small, curtained-off room. I was offered about half of what the rep promised for a pristine designer bag, which sells for over 3 times that amount at the bag's local boutique, very close by. It was a total waste of my time and, either intentionally misleading, or a total rip-off. They found nothing wrong with the bag...it is barely used and in pristine condition, and I had the original tags, accessories, and receipt. What they offered was a fraction of what all the other designer resale sites offered me. Had I known that, I would not have bothered with the trip...but I was assured by the rep that I would be offered twice as much. The vibe there is sleazy, and it would not be a place I would ever choose to shop. I should have taken the bad reviews more seriously.
