Called them at 7:30p asking if they can take me last min and the lady who answered said to come on in. They close at 8p, but she ended up staying until almost 9p for me to do a pedi and mani. I am completely done with this place. They apparently went under new management recently and straight up lied more than once about Tony "being on vacation" when he very clearly doesn't work there anymore, and the past several times I've had them done by someone other than Tony(because they will still book you an appointment with him, and then wait until you get there to tell you he is NOT there), they have been AWFUL. Acrylic has completely chipped off my nail within one day(I can usually go 2-3 weeks with no issues) and they will also charge you when you come in to get it fixed. I went back one last time a few weeks ago, got a new set, and now today when I go to get a fill somewhere else, I have FUNGUS on three of my nails. I have been getting acrylic for years and have never had this happen. I am so incredibly upset and disgusted, and all I can do is advise anyone to not come here, due to lack of sanitation, skill and customer service. I hope Tony has found a better job in a better salon because this place has turned to shit without him. read more

I went to this place based on Yelp reviews. If it weren't for the over-the-top friendliness of the owner George and the individual boxes of tools for hygiene purposes I would have thought I'd gone to the wrong place. This was by far the worst mani/pedi I have ever gotten in my life!!!! Kathy cut a huge chunk out of my big toe on the side of the nail and scraped a painful cut across the top of the toe with the sanding block. I had to use topical antibiotics and wrap my toe in a bandage for three days to protect it from infection. She clipped the toenails without any care and then did not shape them, so some of the toenails are on a slant, some have a point in the middle, some have a point on the end (where they dig into the neighboring toe), and some are simply uneven. I did choose a dark nail polish, which makes things harder, but still it looks like a kid put the polish on: it overlaps the cuticle on most of the toes. With my fingernails I fared a little better. No chunks out of the skin, at least. She cut the cuticles so much that the inside corner of both thumbs are still painful a week later. She didn't even bother with the clippers on my fingers, despite the fact I'd just broken off several tips so some fingernails were as short as a man's: she left the others at a quarter-inch longer instead of trying to even them out a bit. There was a noticeable border everywhere the nail polish ended near the cuticle (lighter color, so didn't look as messy, at least). The following day, the finger nail polish was already flaking off in huge chunks. Maybe I got the one bad manicurist. But there were never more than 2 customers including me in the store at any time, so it's not like I had to take the one no one else wanted. I will never go back there again. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My services today were suppose to be pedicure and gel fill. The lady got me started on the pedicure. She removed the old polish and began the basic maintenance of a pedicure, but within a matter of 10 minutes she was done with the pedicure and attempted to apply the polish. I stopped her and asked if she was done with all the steps of thepedicure, her answer was yes. I asked if she could use the callous remover to get the dead skin from the bottom of my feet and shave the corns. She appeared to have an attitude. She quickly used the shaver to remove the skin and polished my toes. I opted not to get my gel fill in because I was totally disappointed in the pedicure. I left Center Nails and Spa and went to Maxim Nails to get the the fill. I hope they realize they are not going to maintain a business with the shady services they are providing. read more

They did a really good job with my mani and pedi, the only reason I am giving it four out of five stars is because I was here for soooo long! I came right when the salon opened on Friday morning, and there was only one other person here at the time. The pedicure took a long time, and by the time it was done the salon was packed. I had to wait to get a manicure, which took forever because the girl kept leaving to answer the phone. This was frustrating, and I was here for over an hour and a half, most of the time just waiting. They did do a really nice job with the mani and pedi, and the polish lasted forever. I will give this salon another shot, hopefully I just went on an off day and next time will be better. read more

I want to give 2.5 stars. I used to come here for a no chip and always got decent service. I started coming here for my gel fill-ins about a month ago and I've been here twice now for full ins. Within a week my nails chip!!! My nails should not be chipping with the gel!!! The same guy did my nails both times are the second time when he needed to fix almost all of my nails, he wanted to know where I got them done (probably to charge me if I got them done elsewhere). Also, the guy who did my nails broke the bottle of nail polish and there was polish all over my purse. When he painted my nails he got polish all over me. I went here two weeks ago for an acrylic set, and came back for a fill in with my sister. The nail man then proceeded to charge us $38 for a fill... the sign says 20 for an acrylic fill in. We ask the man why is it so much and he proceeds to tell us we can go to another nail salon and ask them the price. What??! He then tells us to never come back!! Just for asking the price?! I almost don't want to tell you how awesome this place is. They treat everyone like a VIP. The pedi chairs are brand new and they are SUPER comfy. I almost fell asleep. I didn't have a ton of time since I stopped in on my lunch break so they did my mani and pedi at the same time. You have your own plastic box with nail file and tow separator so that when you come back they only use what you have used before. They offer OPI and Essie colors. Did I mention that a mani/pedi is 35 bucks and your first time they give you a $5 off coupon? Crazy. I plan on going at least every two weeks. Definitely check this one out! read more

Worst experience ever in a nail shop. I purchased a manicure and it was the most pushy and rushed nail service I've ever had. I wanted to pamper myself and relax, and now I feel even more stressed. I had a full set of pink and white solar nails put on today by Tony (pretty sure that was his name) and it was a wonderful first experience at this salon. I called this morning to make a 12pm appointment which they were able to accommodate. I was promptly greeted upon entering which is always a plus. Tony had to take my current acrylic set off, which can be a painful process if not soaking off, but he took his time and did a great job. My nails look fabulous and I can admit I'm not an easy person to impress! Prices are very reasonable and I will definitely be back, highly recommend! read more

The manicurist I saw did a great job on my no-chip mani-- she really made sure every nail was even and that the skin around the nails was well moisturized after the treatment. It's not a terribly fancy place but I thought my manicurist did a really great job. The hand massage portion of the mani was really quick at the end, just some lotion and a quick pat. The one thing I thought was a little annoying was that I made an appointment for 6pm but had to wait for about 15 minutes so that earlier walk ins could be seen after I showed up on time... guess appointments aren't really necessary here, might as well have just waited. I'd say 4 stars for nail quality and my manicurist, three stars for the wait. read more

We both started out with a pedicure but when it was time for our manicures she was only seated. I waited for about 15 minutes before becoming irritated. Walked in without an appointment on a Friday morning, so I was expecting to wait for awhile. The salon was pretty crowded but they sat me down within two minutes and got started on my pedicure! The pedicure lasted about 25 minutes; I was impressed with their timeliness, but the pedicure itself was super rushed - pretty minimal cuticle and callus work, not a great polish job (but not terrible), and one of my toes was bleeding when I walked out. I was pleased that my feet looked less savage than when I entered, but I wouldn't have minded waiting or being asked to make an appointment for later to get a more leisurely pedicure. read more

I hate this place! I've gone here about 7-8 times, mostly for pedicures, because I literally live above this place. I went this past Saturday, and it will probably be my last time. The lack of care and attention here is astounding. They are very rough with your nails! Easy with those cuticle scissors, ladies! The girl that did my nails on Saturday sucked. The whole salon was completely empty. I literally was the only one there, and she still rushed. She scrubbed my heels with the pumice for all of two seconds. My heels were still cracked and rough, and no leg massage. After my pedicure, I walk over to get my fingers done. She failed to soak my fingers, and she shaped my nails into complete squares to the point where they look funny. No scrub for the hands either, and when she was done, she didn't even let me use the "hand dryers" over by the wall. I had to used dinky mini fans at the manicure table. The application was VERY streaky and uneven. While my fingers were being worked on, my toes were dying under the machine, so I know for a fact that my toes were dry when I left. About four hours later, I put on my heels to go out with some friends, and when I come home that night my father toe on my right foot is completely ruined. She had to have painted them waaaaay too thick if it scuffed hours later. My fingers also look like shit only two days later. They're completely dull and noticeably chipping even though I had them painted a nude color. By the way, they definitely switch up the colors in the nail polish bottles. I grabbed a sheer white, and while my fingers were drying, I happened to check the name of the color. It was "supposedly" Essie Ballet Slippers. Um, no way the color in the bottle was Ballet Slippers! Who do you think you're fooling?! And why even go through the trouble of doing that?! The only reason I didn't give this place one star is because there are two people who work there who actually do a pretty good job if you're lucky enough to get them. One of them is the solo guy working there. The other one is the older, plumper lady with glasses and a lot of makeup. The guys goes to town on your feet and will make sure they're as smooth as a baby's butt. He also gives a great leg massage. The "makeup" lady is very meticulous with polish application. She's slow, but your nails with look stellar. The only way I'm going back is if either of these two are available (usually they're busy.) read more

I usually go to a Pinky Nails and was feeling a tad lazy this morning and decided to give Allure a try since it's walking distance from my house. Big mistake!!! My mani turned out horrible; my nails are different lengths and shapes, my cuticles were not cut and the polish job was frightening. My cuticles were covered in polish. I used to recommend this nail salon to people who were looking for a good spot in the west loop. Now I'll have to take that back. I'm so bummed that they changed management. I recently walked in expecting to see the friendly and familiar faces that I saw during my last visit (which was less than a year ago). Instead, I was given blank stares and walked into a quiet and near empty salon with only 2 other customers. This place used to get packed, so that was my first clue something was off. After standing at the doorway for a few minutes, I was finally approached by a man who hurried me to pick a color and immediately rushed me to my chair. While I was waiting, he was telling his staff what to do and totally killed everyone's mood (staff and customers included). My technician greeted me with a half smile. The service itself was OK. Polish options are the same, but the space doesn't appear to be as clean as it used to be. I definitely won't be back. read more

I just came in and they got my car into the garage. The place is clean, everyone is very nice. Tell me where else you can get a fill for $20 (special this week?) and with my West Loop Organization card - 10% off. But I would go anyway for convenience and nice people! Customers and staff. I was in desperate need of a mani/pedi for an upcoming wedding last week and decided to give New York Nail a try because of all the great reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed! I have NEVER, in all my years of manis, have had a mani last this long without chipping. I don't know what it is about my nails but I normally start chipping within two days. Today is one week since my mani and then tips have just started chipping but my pedi is still flawless. Staff was friendly and efficient, salon was clean, and big screen TV for watching CNN during your services was much appreciated. For $35, I will happily be back again! read more
