Love my nails I got at Allure today! I got a gel manicure and they did a great job cleaning the edges, shaping, getting my cuticles trimmed, etc. Will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I are visiting from Austin, TX and were recommended this place by an employee at the Lululemon near by. The cutest little dip nail manicure I have ever received! Tiffany is just the sweetest most genuine employee there! She asked where we were from and carried conversation with us our entire visit. Thank you for making us feel welcome!

Pros: Staff seems nice. They were able to fit in three of us in the middle of lunch break. Cons: I literally had "indentations" on my no-chip manicure (see photos) - I've never experienced this anywhere else. My nails started peeling off within 4 days.

I've tried a bunch of different nail salons and I keep coming back to Allure! I always walk in and have no issues getting an appointment. They get the job done and my nails always look amazing!

My little manicure bubble's been burst here. (sob) Granted, 5pm on a warm-ish Friday in May is NOT ideal for a speedy service check-up for the digits. HOWEVER, when I sign in, and ASK politely how long the wait is, and the manager tells me "short, maybe 5 minutes," I really do not expect to be there for closer to 60 minutes waiting. But, ok. I get it. Out of their control, and a metric ton of ladies up in here getting spiffy for the weekend. I can be patient. Sometimes. Not really, but I fake it well. What I can NOT excuse is a rushed, hasty, half-assed manicure after waiting for 60 minutes. Total time: 10 minutes. ANNOYED. I am ANNOYED. For $15 = tip (cash only tips, another annoyance), I can go get my nails done, massaged, dried, have them put my shoes on AND not have to sit in a cramped chair. Sad face, I really did like this place. I probably won't return.

This is my first time at this salon and it will be my last. Everything was filthy and so dirty. I received a pedicure and dip manicure and both services were so rushed. I received a pedicure where they didn't provide normal service besides basically cutting and applying color. A kid could have done better. And my dip manicure I left with chunks of dip under my nails. Honestly the worst I've ever received, would not recommend this place at all.

Festive snowflake no-chip mani by Tony!

Let me preface this review by stating that I am writing this hesitantly as I am selfish and don't want to make my most favorite Chicago nail salon busier than it already is, because I hate to wait. Alright, on to the review. I get a no-chip every two weeks and Tony is AMAZING. He is the absolute best nail tech I've ever had, and I've gone through a number in my day. Not a single one of my Tony no-chips has EVER chipped. He also did me some super cute nail art around Christmastime so I would have festive, cute nails! Tony is thorough and gentle and FAST. I'm always amazed how quickly my three coats go by! He's talented. And a super nice guy to boot. Allure carries all your typical brands of polish - Essie, OPI, China Glaze, and a few other brands I'm not familiar with. For No-Chip, you can choose from OPI GelColor, Shellac, Gelish, IBD, and drumroll please, the brand new ESSIE GEL!! (Which I am currently wearing and loving.) If you're into matching hands and feet, OPI makes it easy because their colors are the same. Essie has "similar" colors because they couldn't exactly replicate their regular polish colors into their gel line. But they are supposed to be close enough that you won't be able to tell since your fingers and toes are far enough apart! The fifth star is reserved on account of a couple of things. First, the waiting. Oh, the agony. I get that this is a busy salon, especially on weekends, which is why I try my best to only go on weekdays. However, sometimes this just isn't possible for me. This past Saturday, I had a 2:30 appointment and arrived at 2:25 to see that Tony had literally just begun another client's manicure. I waited around for 35 minutes. What the hell is the point of an appointment if you're going to neglect to keep it? This isn't the first time this has happened, either. I never received an apology or even a "thanks for waiting." Disappointing, since I'm a regular and have referred A LOT of people here (I even have a few of their business cards in my purse in case people ask where I get my nails done). Another little complaint is that my pedicures never seem to last more than 10 days without chipping because they use cheap base coat and top coat. I'm going to start bringing my own Essie stuff so that they will last longer. So, the fifth star will most likely go unearned. But this is a great place for a very affordable mani-pedi ($30 special) or no-chip ($30 special). Cash is king here, so if you want the special, pay cash. Otherwise it's $3 extra. Also, they don't like/let you tip on your card.

End result was fine. Process of the manicure itself though was very strange. Environment is unwelcoming.

I was willing to check this place out even after the screaming negative reviews (several people have bled during nail and cuticle cutting according to reviews!) because they allegedly were offering a coupon. The website had a link to print one. I thought it was a little weird that it printed blank with just Allure's web URL, but figured my browser was the problem. When I got to the salon the nail tech said they weren't doing coupons anymore-- I was very confused because of the misleading website and suggested they take the coupon promotion link off then. Of note, she didn't offer to use the promotion anyway (since that's a reason I was there). Interesting customer service. I should also mention that the place is sort of run down and slightly dirty. The smell of polish remover and chemicals is also stronger than any place I've ever been to. It was really noticeable. The result of my manicure was fine-- nails look good-- but the process was... aggressive. Nail tech aggressively jabbed at my cuticles and although it didn't hurt, it could've been cleaner. Additionally, I had dark nail polish on previously that she had removed, but she didn't remove it completely and was about to polish (with a very light color) over dark splotches left on my nails. When I asked about this she said it wouldn't come off. I actually had to teach her about using the nail brush dipped in polish remover to get at the remaining dark polish under my nails. Totally bizarre! To me a manicure is a treat and if I'm going to pay for a service, I expected to be treated properly. This definitely didn't happen today. NOT WORTH THE $15! Skip this place. **UPDATE- nails already chipping. Hasn't even been 24 hours.

Tony did an acrylic gel on my nails. Glittery french tips were so trendy yet classy. They lasted for 4 weeks w/o chipping.

Tony did an excellent job on my nails. I got acrylic + gel nails done for my hands, and full pedi set for my feet. They came out beautifully. In fact, I had to get my nails redone. I was not satisfied with the first result, so Tony did them again for free -- I love how they turned out!

There was no one waiting in the waiting area when I got there and no one waiting when I left. I do acknowledge I was 5 minutes late. However, there's been several incidents I arrived on time to my appointment and had to wait to be called into the service room. On one occasion, I waited 25 minutes past my appointment time. I also want to emphasise I've been going here for years for the same treatment. A Brazilian. I've been consistent and have had over 12 sessions done, not including the treatments I had at a different business. I'm still getting hair growth. Always feeling rushed with no grace periods, as well as the occasional waiting rubs me the wrong way. How can you make clients wait but when they're a little late, you don't offer them a grace period? Do you not consider that possibly when booking clients or does Sev just overbook their clientele? Even when I called then I was asked if I wanted to mask up and come in and I little taken aback at the staff and management's willingness to risk safety. I was then told well do you want to move it to later and my response was, "I will still have the flu later." They charged me but said it would be credited at my next appointment and it was. Fast forward. I have a birthday trip coming up and I originally booked my appointment for Wednesday morning but then changed it to Tuesday evening at 8:30. My car fob died and my car is push to start. I called them immediately and said I could uber but it would get me there five minutes after the grace period. They said I was the last appointment of the day so they wouldn't allow even though they're open til 9 and I would have made it by 8:45. I ask if I can come at 9 as they had complete open avails for Wednesday from 9 to 3 PM.. I was told no. I would be charged for tonight and then again the next day. I say this is ridiculous as I am a regular, this is out of my control and you've had no appointments all night except for me. I did not cost the business money. You are supposed to stay open til 9 and I have offered two solutions. I am not going to pay 150 for a wax because i am being double charged. So, I book elsewhere. This morning at 9 AM, I get a call saying they will grant me a one time courtesy to walk in between 9:30 and 4:00 as they have lots of openings. I state that I said this yesterday and they told me that they are enforcing policy and that yesterday I was told I could not make another appointment and this is different as it is a walk in. I said it isn't given that there's no one on the books. The point is, I could've been accommodated. I told them I booked elsewhere and I wont be back. Marking me as a no-show when I called ahead to explain what was going on is honestly a little crazy to me. They are so callous and cold. The front desk can be very non-chalant and rude. Happy to receive my services elsewhere moving forward. Update - they have responded saying this has happened multiple times. It literally has not. It happened one time when I had the flu. I had a doc appointment the same day and wanted to be proactive. At the end of the day your staff and this response is absolutely why I will not be coming back to your awful customer service. So I guess we are both fortunate and blessed. Calling me to offer an appointment I could have gotten yesterday and not allowing me to arrive three to five minutes after the grace period for a situation beyond my control is nuts. You close at 9. I would have been done by then. This establishment never needs to worry about me. Terrible management. Terrible staff. My favorite waver left and I will be following her regardless. She said she hated working here and your waxers consistently complain about how you make them uncomfortable and that these rules are unnecessary as you all do not stay booked - ie - all time slots open today from 9 to 3. Your turn over is high and it will continue to be because the establishment is run by raggedy, unkind people.
