I was a bit wary of trying this place out since I already had a very bad experience with a West Loop nail salon... but again i was pressed for time and needed a quikie polish change before an event. Day of Wk: Sunday early afternoon Walked in and asked if they could do a polish change for my hands and feet. They told me to pick my color and sit down for a 10-15 min wait. No problem. The place is tiny and it was packed. Every single hand table was occupied and 2/4 pedi chairs were too. Good sign or only shop open on a Sunday afternoon? Hmm.... I proceed to pick my color and to my surprise they had my fave OPI color, Plugged in Plum! Wooo!!!! Already winning points w me! I get called over to the pedi chair by a girl who must've been like 15 yrs old. Ok.. I'm a little scared but i'll go with it. She took off my old polish, filed and buffed my nails. When she applied the new polish she asked if i liked it (I thought it was a nice little detail bc most places dont ask). Once a hand table opened up we walked over for my hand polish. I like the fact that they have the feet fans while you're getting your hands done. I didn't really notice or care about them not speaking English. Im there to get my nails done.. not socialize. I was pleasantly surprised to see that customers can have boxes w their personal instruments! I never seen that before!! Way cool. Another Plus: I asked my girl if she could order me the nail polish since I can't ever seem to find it anywhere. She gladly did and said i could pick it up on my next visit. Verdict: My girl did a fantastic job. My polish lasted with out a chip for 5 days... and my left hand lasted the entire 7 days! Why not the 5 stars??? I didn't get the full mani/pedi just a polish change. But I'll definitely be back to try it. If they succeed i'll update my review to a fiver. I also didnt bother to check the selection of colors they had; I saw my fave color and it all ended there. Hehe. Oh! PS. Bring cash for the tip! They dont accept it on the CC. I feel so lucky to be conveniently located to this FABULOUS nail salon! New York Nails is beautifully decorated, very clean, professional and super affordable! I was just in a couple of days ago and accidentally showed up a little past the closing time and the owner, Tina, took me anyway! She and I were the only people in the salon for the next hour and I was extremely grateful for her time. Thanks Tina! And the "George" gentleman, who has been mentioned in other reviews, is what gives the salon some personality! I am pretty sure he is the Manager and although he hasn't been in the salon lately, when he is present, he's always a pleasure! George goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable, satisfied and well taken care of and that's a nice feeling when you're being pampered. George, where have you been??!!! Was super excited to try this spa after reading reviews. Walked in with no appointment and was greeted fast; staff is pleasant though not very good with English. I walked in wanting to do a full set of acrylic nails, but guess what. I got gel instead. Not because it was my request, but I don't think they were getting the idea. Anyways, did a no-chip mani with design and a basic pedi. Everything went well up til the mani started. Lady didn't even ask what shape I had in mind for my nails. Had a design in mind already and was looking forward to getting that with acrylics. I noticed the lady didn't pull out acrylics and had everything set up for no chip. I told her, "I want acrylic nails." She said, "Yeah ok, this is acrylic." After asking several times why I was getting gels, I just gave up because I literally found it pointless asking over and over again. Okay, so she starts pushing back and cutting my cuticles, she pulled off like a fair chunk of my skin so of course my finger starts bleeding like hell. A total of three of my fingers were bleeding. In the end, I mostly got the design I wanted but it was somewhat sloppy. Didn't quite get the colour I wanted (glittery pink and gold), instead I got a baby pink and like a gold opaque glittery nail polish on top of it. Overall, props for nice staff, but not so much for the colour selection or the whole doing your nails part. Still looking for a new spa within the area, don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I went in, asked them how long it'd take for them to get to me for a mani because I was short on time, they said 10 minutes, I waited 20, but during that 20 they took someone in before me who walked in after I did. They were short staffed for a Friday evening. When the lady charged my card (after she cleaned my nails, before she painted) she didn't warn me there was no tip slot on the receipt, so I couldn't give her a tip since I had no cash, which was awkward because we were only halfway done. I'm pretty sure she missed a step, because not even 3 days later my nails chipped, and it looks terrible. Such a waste of money. read more

"My missing toe is as good as new" Yep.. folks..you read it correctly. In the midst of training for a half marathon, my toe nail decided to fall off. Soo it's pretty devastating trying to figure out what you'll do with numb-a-licious. I have had a few mani/pedis since then but I felt like Wendy really got it done. I had a pretty good experience and would go back. Similar to other reviewers, it's free parking on Sundays, service is $35, and they have a 10% coupon (at the time of this review) on their website. Their chairs are the bomb too - good pressure. Why not a 5 - well, Wendy was a bit rough and seemed appalled when I was like uhm just a bit too much! I guess she was making sure their was nothing left, but goodness. Let's dial back the intensity. Then she asked if I wanted to get my eye brows done. Let me rephrase.. it felt like she was insisting. Now I know I am time for a touch up BUT not that bad! Goodness. When I finally say sure I'm here.. they couldn't even offer the service. But no matter.. I'll go back and go to Wendy again.. A friend and I were in the area and last minute decided to get mani/pedis. We called and made reservations, but when making the reservations, they didn't ask for our names. Apparently, you can just walk in and say I called for reservations. When we arrived, we were sat right away. Put our feet in the lava, I mean water. Told the technician it was too hot and he quickly adjusted the temperature. I was serviced immediately, but my friend waited at least 40 minutes before being helped. On to the mani - when pushing my cuticles, the technician pushed so hard the stick jammed into my nail bed. They cut me, man! And let me tell you, it sucks. So there I was bleeding, no response from the technician, except pulling out the green bleed be gone glue. I get up to wait for my friend who was just starting her mani. When she's finally done, she comes to the drying area and guess what? They cut her too! I've never been cut from a nail service, but I guess there is a first time for everything. There are so many nail places in the area, I'd recommend trying somewhere else. read more

I honestly didn't even notice that the owners were gone- I've continued to have the same service that I've always experienced. I really like this nail place, I've been going here for almost 2 years and I've continued to receive the same regular and consistent service. I never have even asked for a specific nail tech and I have yet to be disappointed by any of them which is crazy if you ask me! I think they have a standardly priced mani-pedi and I think that for the speed, quality, and the location, it's really difficult to beat. I will say that if you are looking to establish some kind of relationship with your nail person- this is not the place that's going to make that happen but if you want to get your nails done in a calm environment and receive good, consistent service, this is the place! So I'm one of the freaks that still has acrylic nails (something my mother has instilled in me as she's had them since the '70s) so I can only vouch for their acrylic work but they really do a lovely job. I always get compliments on my nails, often times a couple weeks after I get them done. The salon is very clean, the staff is very friendly, and they always do their best to fit you in as quickly as possible if you don't have an appointment. They're extremely reasonably priced as well, which I appreciate as a college student. It has become my regular salon and I have tried many in the area! read more

I had a special event to attend and my no chip mani was looking dull. I have been getting no chips for a few months now but haven't found a place that I love... until now. I called ahead for an appointment and they had time for me on short notice. While I was there they took two walk ins without having them wait. The shop is clean, light filled and airy. Parking was nearby and the meters are $2 an hour. They have tons of color selections and know how to layer them to add even more options. They carry CND, Gellish and two or three other brands and (unlike other places) make sure to use the base and top coat of the selected brand. I had one nail which had peeled (I have weak nails) and they even took the time using a touch of glue and acrylic to patch it up before applying the gel! They got the gel very close to the cuticle which should make the mani last longer too. The price was fair without any sort of promo and is even cheaper if you pay cash. Nice job, nice service. I only came as on out of town visitor due to a chipped/broken nail but the quality of my nail repair and color made me write this review. I was promptly seated with my nail tech. She was efficient, detail oriented, and very pleasant. The acrylic nail she replaced was done very excellently and even though I didn't go for a full fill-in, she cleaned up my nails before applying the new nail color. Color was applied quickly and evenly but she took the time to clean them up, just in case. If I'm ever in need of nail help while in Chicago, I will definitely be returning! And I have to say, I am bummed this nail salon is not down the street from me. I would definitely convert! From photos, they are not only quality nail techs but offer beautiful nail art as well! So after reading all of the great reviews on Yelp, I decided to check this place out. After all, I was tired of going to Lincoln Park to get my nails done and wanted someplace that was not too far from my house but most importantly was clean and does a great job! Well, let me just say this place is very clean and the staff is incredibly polite and they do an incredible job as well. The price is a bit more from my usual but not by much. I really liked this place, I thought they did an great job. They're very clean and accommodating. They store the tools they use on you in a small box to use for your next visit. They even offered their garage spot if I couldn't find street parking! How awesome is that? OK now there was one part of this experience that I didn't care for but since we're all girls here I must share this.......I asked if they did waxes (eyebrow, lip, etc). They do. I needed a little..... ehmm... lip wax. So like most salons that I've been to they usually do these kinds of things in the back....but apparently they decided to do my lip wax in front for all to see! GASP!!!....you could imagine my embarrassment. Then to make matters worse she says I have alot of hair! LOL! It's funny now. LOL! I've been looking for a new nail place for awhile--my usual place is too far, they've been getting sloppy with my nails, and they push me to get gels EVERY time I go. Not to mention that, after going there for months, I STILL have to remind them every time that I want them SHORT and NOT SQUARE. all of which is very annoying, especially since I consider myself to be a pretty generous tipper. after some research, I found that all the places in my south loop neighborhood are WAY too expensive, so I turned to yelp, where I found Allure, and decided to try them out today since I needed a fill. I got there shortly before noon and the guy at the desk sat me down right away, and proceeded to do an awesome job. the best part was that he actually LOOKED at my nails before he started, so I didn't even have to verbalize what I wanted--he could tell how I like them by how they looked when I came in. it was a relief to not have to keep saying, shorter, shorter, less square. and he didn't try to push me into gels or getting a pedicure too. I brought in my own light colored polish, and he did an awesome job, not streaky at all. he was very meticulous about getting it perfect. the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because he put the wrong topcoat on, so he had to take all the polish off and start over again. which was kind of annoying, but I wasn't in a hurry, and it looked just as good when he polished them the second time. besides, I liked that he actually took the time to do the job right instead of just being like, whatever, and letting me leave. so all in all, I am satisfied so far and look forward to going back to see if it's as good the next time around! read more

George is a wonderful man and is extremely polite - hangs your coat, checks on your car, asks about your experience. I've always been treated well here and have always had good results with them. My polish for nails and toes always lasts a long time. The salon is small but it's clean and the staff is friendly. They have a decent selection of Essie and OPI colors. Parking can be easily found on Peoria or Sangamon and Washington but note that Washington has a pay-box. I have been going to NY Nails for 11 months now, and I can say I only had one kinda-bad experience. Other than that, they have been unbelievable. The one bad experience was one of the first warm Fridays at 6pm, it was packed, and the wait was over an hour. The girls were not saying that the wait was an hour, they were saying a couple minutes. So, I sat down ready to play it by ear, they were taking too long, so I just left. Every single other time it has been a great experience. I only go early during the week, or mid-day. If I can give anyone any advice, don't even bother when it is busy, it will just frustrate you. Come back another time-nails are not that important in the grand scheme of all things important in life. Get over it. I love this place, I live right above this salon. Sometimes, when I come in really early and I am getting a mani/pedi, I sit in the chair and get the pedi while another girl is doing my nails. I am in and out in 45 minutes! Glorious! read more

I went in yesterday as a walk-in around 6:40, for all intensive purposes I was just glad they could take me since they close at 7. This was a very basic pedicure and while the cuticle clipping was fine and not rushed, the nail filing was. The nail shaping is uneven on my right foot, as my big toe nail is obviously slanted, and my right foot nails are shorter as opposed to my left. The massage and foot scrubbing were very rushed. While one might think it was because of arrival time, there were about 4 other customers there besides me, so the staff planned to stay late. Especially when a woman walked in after 7 for a pedicure and was seen. Overall, nail painting was great. Just wish that they took more care in the pre-painting stage. read more

I first went to this New York Nail Spa the day before my wedding. I was w three generations of women in my family and we were making a special morning of the day. We chose this nail salon bc it was near to the hotel we were all staying at: pure chance. Upon entering we were greeted exuberantly by George, the owner, as well as the nail techs (i do not remember their names from this trip). George asked us about how our visit, how the other out-of-town ladies were enjoying chicago, and what he could do to make our visit the best. the job done on our nails was as good as i have received anywhere, esp for the price ($35 mani/pedi all the time). the polish stayed fresh even through my sun tan lotion-filled honeymoon in nicaragua etc. as we were checking out george gave me a gift certificate for a free mani/pedi on my next visit to congratulate me on getting married (and, of course, to encourage me to come back). six months later, my husband and i finally were able to find the time to come back. the jobs done on my hands and feet, and my husband's feet, were superb. they are kind--taking the time to find out your name--and thoughtful--offering to take your jacket, offering water, finding the most recent magazines, making sure your nails are dry before you leave, helping you put on your shoes and even socks! i had lynn and she is a doll. they asked if i wanted my hands done at the same time as my feet so that i would be done at the same time as my husband who was not getting his hands done. i said yes bc i thought that was thoughtful of them. some people, i realize, do not like getting their hands done at the same time but they did not push this on me. they would have been just as accommodating if i had said no. we will continue to drive from logan square to the west loop for these services and for the price. read more

For "this kind of" nails place (Ie. not at a fancy spa/salon), it's a safe bet for regular manis and pedis. Clean, decorated SO "cute-ly", ginormo TV on the wall, air conditioned not too cold not too hot... (Yes, these are all important things when you are spending an hour in a place doing nothing b/c their working on your hands/feet) Manis have been especially good when I've had this older woman who wears glasses and is always dressed up with a lot of makeup. She takes the longest, but she is METICULOUS and is the best for manicures. They also do the "no chip" here. I haven't had a regular no-chip, but DO NOT get their "no chip" french here. No one in the salon knew how to do it, so the owner/manager came over to do mine. She had obviously not done it too much either because they were awful. The white part was SUPER thick and was like a bump sticking out of my nail :(. Uck. Well at least, true to their word, they didn't chip off! I will be continuing to go back there for sure, but not for the no chip french!!! read more

I noticed the same pattern as others: being told Tony & the old crew were "on vacation" as the initial lie. Fine, I went with it. As long as my nails look as superb as they were before Tony & crew sold it, I'm good. I started noticing that my no chip manicures don't last as long as they used to. In fact, my last one made it less than a week before the peeling started. On top of that, they didn't have the color I selected from their bin of no chip options. So I spent several minutes trying to find an alternative. None of the first few alternatives were in good condition (different color in bottle vs expectation... possibly chemistry changes). I left with a decent color but unsatisfied. This place used to be my staple. Now I may have to find an alternative. I hate nail salon shopping but know that I need consistency. Please take my 4 stars with a grain of salt, and here's why. I've gone to strictly Asian (not sure the PC way to call it) nail places for a few years because I do the whole fake nail acrylic thing. I'm used to the dremel (sp?), acrylics, the fills, the tips, the language barrier, the constant loud use of not-English. That being said, I've had some SHITTY acrylic, gel, and pink and whites done in my history of artificial nails. Also, I don't know if it's the curvature of my nail or what, but they just don't last as long as other people's. Due to this, I gauge my acrylics/gels experience by how much they DON'T detach on the sides as they grow out, how well they do a fill, the acrylic drill-down around cuticle area, etc. There was one guy there who had spiky hair who was the best I've EVER had. I never got his name and they said he was on vacation the first time I didn't see him there about a month ago. Haven't seen him since...maybe they have Italian blood in their family?? I haven't gone to any other guys because it's been my experience that guys always suck at this. He was a 'too good to be true' exception. Since him, I've had a woman who appears to be the manager or 'mom' of the place. I think the nail place is hers. Not sure but she's very good too, though not AS good as the other guy who might've been kidnapped. She's got the station right next to where you pay. You can't miss her...she's got presence (to put it nicely). She also does a kick ass job with my eyebrows! At any other place like this, I would've had thin lines for eyebrows by now. One time I got all my stuff done to realize I'd left my card in my other wallet and didn't have enough cash with me. I was thoroughly embarrassed, but she said it was ok and I paid the balance the next time I was there. I go there a lot more during the week after work now, because it's easier than wasting a few hours on Saturday to go there, wait, etc. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Don't go here unless you want to be treated with total disrespect. I came here on a Friday after a long day of work, looking for a nice relaxing mani & pedi. I did not get that, instead I never wanted more or felt uncomfortable than to just get up and leave. I picked 2 colors because I couldn't decide and sat in the pedicure chair. It started off normal. And then the nail "professional" started to work on my toes. I bent down to tell her that I would need her to cut my nails shorter and the nail "professional" replied with a rude "not yet, not yet, not yet OKAY!" I was taken back that she responded like that so I just let it go. She then went on to cut my toenails and proceed with the pedicure. I don't know if she was doing it on purpose but it was the least comfortable relaxing pedicure I've ever had. In fact, I doubt that poking and gauging my toes and toenails with the clippers constitutes as relaxing. She would look up once in awhile and ask if I was okay so I thought I would give her another chance. Moving on to the manicure, I couldn't decide if I wanted the same color on my toes or a different one so I asked if I could see what the other color looked like on a nail and she went on to say "no, pick color, you want this color or that color, pick one!" She then went on and said "pay now". So I paid. I then asked again about the color to see what it looked like and since I paid she finally said okay and showed me what it looked like. I didn't like it and decided to go with the color I had on my toes and she replied with "see! I told you!" My visit to Allure Nail Spa left me annoyed, disrespected, and $35 broker for a sub par mani/pedi from a rude nail "professional." Don't waste your time or patience and bring your business elsewhere...in fact, there are many other nail salons not too far in the area that I'm sure will treat you a lot better for your hard earned cash. I'd like to make some recommendations to your salon for easy things you could do to make the experience better. I have been in several times as I like to give local places solid chances, so I have observed patterns. First, keep the salon cleaner. The floors are pretty dirty and everything along the walls looks really sloppy. It just takes some baskets and cleaning rags and a couple hours to make the place look professional and worth my money. Second, please play something more relaxing on the tv. Whenever I have been in, the news is on. This does not create a nice spa environment I want when I am getting a tad bit of relaxation in my week. You could consider using Netflix for shoes or even playing HGTV on cable. Third, improve your filing skills. My nails have been unevenly shaped each time I come in. Attention to detail would have made me return. Fourth, it makes the environment less comfortable and professional for you to have any extra employees sitting on the pedicure chairs with dirty street shoes in the foot baths. I have never gotten a pedicure there since I saw that one time. It's unsanitary and also makes employees appear lazy. read more

I went here randomly on Sunday after brunch. I was up the street with some friends and one friend from out of town needed a mani/pedi. I looked up the closest spot on Yelp and bingo... Allure Nail & Spa popped up. We were just 2 blocks away and I figured my nails probably needed some TLC too so I went with her. To my surprise (not sure why I was surprised), I was happy with the service. They had a decent selection of polish and various brands. Some seemed bootleg-ish (or maybe I had just never seen them before) but they definitely had OPI, Essie and China Glaze. The massage chairs were comfortable but only ran for 15 minutes at a time so I had to keep resetting it. The technicians were very attentive. I never got his name, but one of the two men worked on me. For consistency sake, I would request him again. My friend was happy with the lady who worked on her too. I really do think I found another go-to nail salon. Like usual, it's not in my neighborhood or near work so I'll need to plan ahead to make future visits. But what I like is that it was open on a Sunday and the customer service was good. I don't know if they have a loyalty program but I will find out the next time I visit. Really nice lady did my mani / pedi. They do a thorough cleaning and good application but really skimp on the foot/hand massage. It was about 15 seconds. Usually places spend at least a minute or two getting in there. Neither of us had the luxury of that here so that was really unfortunate. Prices are pretty good compared to other places I've been in Chicago. I could go back for a pedi but I would ask about the massage!!! read more

This place SUCKS. Went for a manicure and had no chip on. The woman wouldn't let the remover sit long enough so she kept trying to scrape it off (painfully) and finally gave up without removing it all. She didn't ask about what shape or how short I wanted them, just started filing and filing and then eventually cut them, when I requested them shorter (and seemed annoyed by the request). The polish job looked crappy- she didn't do a great job on my cuticles and made one of them bleed. The place was dirty- there were still nails left from the person before me at my station and she didn't bother to clean them up. Also, they charged me more than the posted price on the wall. I live in the same building as this salon and will never go back. Would give zero stars if it were an option. read more

Thank god for Tina and George!!! The west loop really needed an affordable and clean nail salon. $35 for a mani/pedi is a steal. I brought my bridal party here the day before my wedding for some pampering and they couldn't have been more accomodating. They poured us mimosa's and had us in and out in less that 90 minutes. I will never go anywhere else. I'm surpised Nail Party is still even open!!! read more

Great work, pleasant staff, always clean. I don't know what else to say. I have been here a few times and I will go back. It's the best place I have found in the West Loop. The prices are quite reasonable as well, so give it a shot, but don't tell too many people...I don't want to have to wait in line!!! Great work, ladies!! read more
