After breaking up with my former hair dresser (the worst kind of break ups!) I found Mary at Belle de Jour. I don't think I'll ever go through another hair break up again! Not only did she save me from a terrible former hair color, over the years she has taught me how to keep my hair healthy, recommended products (even ones for my 9 year old daughter not sold at the salon) and truly become a friend. The service is incredible and timely. I'm always immediately taken to a chair, always offered a beverage or snack and I've never left with hair I didn't LOVE. The salon is always impeccably clean. This review is a tricky one to write. I contemplated the accurate score to fairly represent my experience at Belle de Jour. To start at the beginning, I booked online through their website, trying out a new stylist after reviewing her Instagram. I think the day after booking I received a text that I needed to come in earlier since I was a first time client, not a huge deal. I arrived at the salon for my 4:45 appointment to get my balayage "freshened up." I told the stylist I like it super blended and hate streaky highlights and big "'money pieces." I also said I like my hair toned to be as cool as possible because it always ends up really warm. I thought we were on the same page but I maybe didn't talk through my expectations well enough. She said she was going to use foil to accomplish the balayage, which was new for me but I didn't want to question her. As she begins, I could tell something was off because she was foiling my hair like I was getting highlights and I was immediately nervous. After getting home, I was heartbroken. I had just spent over $300 on my hair and I HATED it. I knew I had to get it fixed. I messaged the stylist on Instagram and then later received a text from the owner. The owner was able to arrange for me to get in within the same week, which was much appreciated. The owner was also at the salon bright and early to talk through what a NEW stylist was going to do to fix my hair. I was blown away by the owner's dedication to making sure I left a second time as a happy customer. I would give the owner of the salon & how they handle an unhappy customer a 5/5! But ultimately, the first initial experience was BAD. Not only was it not what I was wanting, but it was just a very bad job by the stylist - it was streaky, chunky, and extremely brassy. If a stylist can't accomplish what a customer wants, I imagine they should collaborate with a coworker to try to learn or recommend they see someone else. I was shocked to hear that she was one of their top stylists. I also am extremely busy with two jobs and having to come back a second time, though I appreciate them getting me in quickly and fixing it, is extremely inconvenient. My first experience was a 1/5. My hair is fixed but still not quite what I wanted. That was the most I've ever paid for color and probably one of my least favorite looks I've gotten in a long time. I'll leave you with this -- if you want to try this new salon, take comfort in knowing the salon owner takes extreme ownership over her customer's experience and that is very, very comforting. If you don't love your hair, they will fix it. My second takeaway is maybe calling a new salon and explain what you want & see which stylist they recommend. read more

A real five star experience. This salon is simply impeccable--both professionally and physically. Besides being beautifully designed, it was spotlessly clean. (I left the chair two times during my visit and both times returned to the station being wiped down and organized.) I had the pleasure to work with the owner Andrea and the very talented stylist Tiffany. After a very long illness, my hair was both terribly damaged by my bad attempts at coloring, lack of nutrition, and prolonged immobility--bed rest equals broken hair. So, a color correction was required prior to anything and my hopes were limited. I could not believe how wonderfully my hair turned out after it was both corrected then given a balayage. I was honestly stunned. I was very self conscious of the fact that my illness had caused a great deal of hair loss, but by the time the color and styling was finished I was beyond words for how pleased and happy I was with my new hair. Most impressive during this process was the way Andrea, Tiffany, and all the staff treated me. They took the time to find out what I hoped for, explained what should be done and beyond that professionalism, took time to check in with me on my physical well-being and how my health was doing throughout the day. (I am a T1 diabetic.) Real service is when a business CARES about the customer, and the people of Belle de Jour personify this care- an extremely rare quality! To top off the day, John Weeks performed a miracle makeup makeover that appeared so natural it was outstanding. Prior to the actual makeup, he prepared my skin--extremely dry and damaged as well--to the point of it feeling so smooth and soft, I felt like years had been melted away. He also has a talent that goes beyond the average experience. It was transformative. From the bottom of my heart--thank you for a day that both exceeded my expectations for what could be done with my hair and made me feel miles down the road of recovery in gaining back self confidence. read more

Just got done with my first appointment! I had a balayage done. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted but cindy guided me to stay a little darker due to my natural color. Very glad I took her advice! After our first go, I decided I wanted the roots a little darker and she was happy to make it happen. She was so friendly and fun to talk to. A couple of game changers here- the lemon water and the head rests in the wash sinks. I always hate how bad my neck hurts and today, no strain. These photos are after an incredibly wonderful hair appointment at Belle de Jour Salon during my Atlanta work trip (it was immediately followed by a shopping trip to Range Boutique w/ my four-footed pal Franklin...a girl's gotta live a little every now & again, right?!). It's been a few days and I still catch myself in awe of my hair whenever passing a mirror. It's crazy what a great hair stylist can do that extends so much further than just changing the color of your hair. I Walked in with my lifeless bun of hair among many other clients as the doors opened at 08:30. There were already a good handful of other women waiting in their cars for the salons opening to get their Fix in. This alone was such a great sign that I was walking into something reputable and spectacular. I was greeted immediately and shown around with the offerings of multiple beverages and candies they had laid out. Then walked to the dressing room shortly before receiving a friendly introduction to the owner and my stylist. Ashley my Stylist, asked a few questions regarding the integrity of my hair and the color I desired to reach. A few Pinterest inspo photos were shown and she said she was set and ready to get started. The whole exchange from the very moment made me feel at complete ease with confidence that my hair was in great hands. The night before I did have somewhat of nerves, since finding a great Blonde hair Stylist and more importantly colorist is extremely hard to find. Yet Ashley was able to reach the exact expectations of the color I fell in love with. She truly left me speechless with the work she had done on my own hair. Let me just start by saying this is easily one of the nicest and most professional salons I've ever been to. I wish I could give this salon more than 5 stars. If you're looking for a new salon or not happy with where you've been going for whatever reason, I PROMISE Belle de Jour will meet and exceed all of your expectations. First off, the salon itself is gorgeous. It is very bright and airy, extremely clean, and just a beautiful space! It was also very easy to find and pretty convenient to get to. I could go on, and on, and on, about how professional everyone is here. They give you a nice tour when you walk in so you know where everything is, and they offer you complimentary drinks and snacks for your whole visit. I got asked several times, by multiple employees, if I was okay or needed anything. Phone charger? La Croix? Trail mix? Seriously, if you need anything, they probably have it. I also saw a few people on their laptops, getting some work done while they were getting their hair done. Awesome! They are also extremely professional when it comes to their services! I definitely appreciated the consultation before my service to talk about my hair and any issues I have. They definitely understand that the most important thing is keeping hair nice and healthy, so they give great recommendations on what type of color or services would work best for you. Speaking of recommendations, I also really appreciated that the owner, Andrea, was very active with her stylists and was always walking around giving advice and recommendations on anything they could add to make whatever service they were doing better. I walked in pretty nervous but was instantly calmed down and they talked me through everything and even showed me around the shop. They offer refreshments as well which is always a plus. I accidentally came across this fabulous salon, as they donated an experience to a Gala that I was hosting. So I decided to try it out. Andrea, the owner, was just as sweet and down-to-earth as you would want to work with. I started using Andrea...she just got me, and understood my hair (ladies, you know what I am talking about;)! The atmosphere in the Salon is warm and relaxing, no hustle and bustle - water and coffee available...all I need is a glass of wine and all is right with the world. Andrea knows all of the customers, even those who go to her other stylists. No one is pushy about buying products, but products are available for your purchase. Now MY schedule did not work out with Andrea's over time. But she was kind enough to refer me to another stylist. And I have truly been happy over her choice for me. read more

I love this Salon! It's beautiful and always clean with the most professional and sweetest staff. I'm in my 60's and absolutely LOVE my stylist Mary, who I've been seeing for years!! I trust her completely with my hair and she never fails to give me the perfect cut and color!
