I went there yesterday for my first time and was blown away by the amazing customer service; from the receptionist, to the other stylists who greeted me and then I met Allie who was my stylist. I have never met such a warm, caring and professional stylist in my life. we spoke at length to make sure she could envision exactly what I wanted, she talked me through the whole process and her fellow stylist, Nicole whose booth is next to us even helped out for a bit. Gina, is the reason I will never return that along with the fact that the owner, Tom has not responded to the 5 calls Ive made. She butchered my hair to the point of me being in tears in the chair. I asked what she was doing and she abruptly stopped and walked away getting another sytlist. No remorse, no apology. Ive never experienced a salon visit like this especially from Salon Voss. The salon has gone down hill and the customer service is horid. Not sure what happened to the great stylists they once had! I used to refer everyone there, never again.

Do yourself a favor and come see these ladies Here we are 17 days later and the very next day I noticed that my extensions had not only been sewn in with white thread, they were wrapped all the way to the side of my head preventing me from being able to wear my hair up AT ALL.... At 7 days post installation of my extensions they were already falling out and pulling on my real hair. This could have caused serious damage as in balding had I left it like that. Today I walked into Belle Tressor Hair Salon by the Grace of God and found a wonderful lady who was kind enough to fix the extensions and tone my hair because the foil job that was done by Toya looked horrendous and did not match my extensions at all!! I wanted so badly to like Janees Hair salon because Janee is actually really sweet! Toya on the other hand was not very respectful. I paid $200 upfront for my services mind you... When I had first arrived I was 20 minutes late to my 10:00 appointment due to Janee asking me to bring my daughter to my appointment at 9:20, so I had to turn my car around, drive bk and get my daughter who was sleeping, and drive back to the shop. She was shampooing a woman's hair and had another in the chair waiting to be blow dryed out. She stated rudely "there's a late fee and cancellation policy I guess I should have told you about yesterday. Now you'll have to wait until I get to you" .... EXCUSE ME.... Even if I had been there on time you were doing 2 other women's hair. My daughter had an orange tint to her hair. I wanted the orange out of all of her hair. They did foil highlights and my daughters hair is still orange This should have been fixed with toner not highlights come to find out. I showed the stylist exactly what color I wanted, and they confidently said they could achieve it, but the final result looked completely different from what was promised. Not only did my hair turn out nothing like the reference photo, but the color is barely visible and looks uneven and dull. What makes this even worse is the lack of honesty and professionalism. At no point was I told that the result might be different or that my hair could not achieve the color I requested. Instead, I paid a very high price expecting professional results and left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and honestly upset. I also wasted hours of my time for something I never asked for. A professional salon should communicate clearly, manage expectations, and stand behind their work. Unfortunately, this place did none of that. So I decided to wear my hair in braids for the winter :) Just had my hair braided today. Joyce was very nice and my hair looks fabulous! Update: Today I took a chance and went in because I had one braid which was very loose and I couldn't fix it myself. Emma, the owner, was accommodating and I appreciated that; however, I didn't appreciate the scolding she gave me for the updated review I posted in Dec 2017. Here's what happened in Dec 2017: I walked into the shop for my appointment and Joyce cancelled it on the spot stating that there was "too much pressure" while braiding my hair. Emma said she did not have another braider and that there was nothing she could do. End of conversation. I immediately posted an updated review without the details. I simply said, "the owner, Emma, is nice but things have changed and the braiders aren't very professional. I have to find another place." But I'm sharing the details now: From my perspective, the braider, Joyce, started out well, but during a subsequent visit, Joyce was talking on the phone while working with boiling water near my head. She steam burned my scalp because of this. Never apologized. The other issue I recall is asking Joyce not to braid so tightly near my hairline. I also asked a few questions because I was new to getting braids. Noteworthy: The back area of the shop where the braiding happens can get extremely loud. Also - you can tell that some of the braiders do not like certain clients. I witnessed one braider talking loudly on the phone while doing a client's hair - This went on for hours. The client said to me she couldn't tell whether her headache was from the braids being too tight or from her braider's voice in her ears. I never mentioned any of this to the owner, Emma, but I did tell Emma about Joyce burning me while on the telephone. Joyce was balancing a cell phone with her shoulder and using boiling water to seal my braids. On the next visit, in Dec 2017, Joyce refused service when I showed up due to "too much pressure." I tried to recount these experiences to Emma today, but argued with me and said she called me on the telephone ahead of time to cancel that appointment, but that is not what occurred. I recall that I had to find someone to braid my hair that same day because I had already taken the day off from work and I work in Washington DC. Emma stuck to her guns on this point and insisted she called me to cancel at least two days prior because she "would never do that." She said I "should not have trashed her on Yelp" and that I should have come to her. She said she could have refused to help me today because of the Yelp review but she decided not to because "we may need each other in the future." I offered to update the Yelp review but Emma said her "business is booming so it doesn't matter." This was a one time quick fix issue which I saw as an opportunity to reconnect with a local business. I will not be returning. It worth mentioning that there are just a few braiders in Fredericksburg and they all seem to know each other and / or are related. Their customer service habits are fairly similar - The braid times are lengthy, the braiders tend to be mean and rough, and talking can sometimes take precedence over customer comfort. I tried a braider in Maryland, and I was out of the shop very quickly with a beautiful hairstyle as I requested. Completely different experience.
