First of all, Twana is just an amazing human being. From the moment you walk into her one-person salon, she makes you feel at ease and welcome. I first traveled to see her from Florida then when I moved to North Caroline. I was very nervous about my hair when I first reached out to her because I had some severe damage due to lupus. My first consult with her she was very thorough and provided me with all my options, any considerations i needed to keep in mind, and made herself very flexible to my schedule, as I was traveling in from out of state. I LOVED my straight crochet the first time she did a year or so ago, and i love it even more this second visit. She paid close attention to the style I was trying to achieve and nailed it. So I waited 4 days with no return call. On the 4th day I texted her and she immediate responded saying she was sorry but was not accepting new clients. I texted back letting her know I would have appreciated a return call/text sooner. Her reply (attached) was extremely rude! She said she has since changed her voicemail and then proceeded to go off on me calling me judgmental because I told her a timely reply to my vm 4 days ago would have been appreciated. The nerve of Twana! She had time to change her vm but no common courtesy to return a business call and then gets snippy. Smh! * Response to Twana's comment. I was never rude to you. People can see that by the text messages I posted (we never spoke over the phone). Your website still says you're accepting new clients smh. Thought you updated it. I'm so glad I wasn't styled by a miserable human being like yourself. What you don't understand is I have a right to be upset, not you. Anyone who knows me knows I have an insane love/hate relationship with my hair! Being of mixed heritage, my hair isn't kinky enough for some styles yet it doesn't hold a curl for anything in the world!! HORRIBLE experience with this stylist. She has made multiple inappropriate comments to me during appointments and I tried to give her a chance despite my husband telling me to get rid of her after the first session. She said 'jokingly' that her younger self would "give me a run for my money" and spoke about my body multiple times, although I never wished to compare and contrast body types. I've had different hairstylists before and I have never dealt with anyone who has commented on my body, asking me about interracial dating because of my husband (then indirectly implying it's a fetish). She has a right to believe whatever but she should keep her unsolicited, biased opinions to herself and whoever is delusional enough to listen. I cut her off after I found a new stylist and ended it saying I'll text her again if I need another appointment. I wanted a protective hair style that covered all of my hair that was not a full weave. I began to research crochet braids which led me to Twana! I emailed Twana with my questions and she was prompt to respond. The only thing that made me hesitate, was that she recommended using synthetic hair which usually makes my scalp itch. At her recommendation, I watched You Tube videos on how to pre-soak synthetic hair to remove the coating (in vinegar and water) that is the culprit of the itching and irritation.
