Prior to contacting Leslie, I had great angst of this whole appraisal/sale of items process. I didn't want to feel foolish or be taken advantage of in any way. I had heard how you do not always get the true value of items if you go to a jeweler who then purchases these items. Leslie was very quick to reply to my email and honest around her fees. We scheduled an appt. and I brought my various items to her office for the consultation appt. During our appt, Leslie was very respectful of all of the pieces. She tests items and uses her microscope with you in the room. I felt like she was very thorough, and any questionable items, she agreed to test further. She was always respectful- even when items were not authetic gems or gold. The items we did agree she would liquidate, she logged for insurance and then gave them approximate values. Once the items were sold, Leslie promptly called me to inform me of the amount of the sale. There were a few pieces of jewelry I had left with her for appraisal-- well, as it turns out, they really weren"t anything requiring insurance, and she was very honest about not going through an entire appraisal process as this would have cost me money. They let me in on a secret: they are opening a museum upstairs in a couple of months. Finally, a space opening up in Boston offering something we don't already have... a "money museum!" I assume it is because I look very young and because I don't look like most of the other customers who come in to do business, but I am a paying customer, and no matter what it's impolite to treat anyone this way, especially in retail! Also, I bought a ring here recently and the woman helping me didn't know answers to basic questions regarding the rings I was looking at (for example: I asked her which stones were precious and she could name a few and then was unsure). She also didn't know anything about most of the pieces themselves (just what was written on the tags). If you want to get something appraised or to see if Anderson wants to buy something, just know it's very rare for him to agree to buy something and if he does he will most likely ask for much less than it's worth! I have had friendly interactions with a few of the employees who have been pretty helpful, but each time I walk out of that shop, I feel gross from the bad interactions I had and from being treated as less-than. If this is because of appearance than I would advice anyone who doesn't look like their "typical" customer to be wary. Otherwise they have beautiful estate items! Not sure I'll be doing business with them any time soon though.

Each and every time I've left disappointed or annoyed by the attitude of the staff. The first visit the man who 'helped' me tried to upsell me for wedding bands. I kept saying I wanted simple to accent the engagement ring my husband purchased there. Thank goodness I was with a friend who finally said, loud & firm, "You are not listening! Simple! Simple!"
