I had the most incredible experience at Piette jewelers. I wear a ring that belonged to my mother every day of my life. She also wore it every day....and It's like a little piece of her still is still with me all the time. Unfortunately, I am hard on my hands and a few of the stones fell out of it. It's a very old ring dating to the 1930s. Clearly some work had been done on the ring before my mother even owned it, and there were prongs on stones that were about to go. The professionals at Piette jewelers found the appropriate stones (remember this is an old ring so stones to match are hard to come by) and had them replaced in no time. The ring came back looking absolutely gorgeous and the owners clearly explained what they had to do to fix the ring and how I can ensure that the same issue doesn't happen again. The cost was less than I had expected. I will use this jeweler time and time again to buy jewelry for important occasions and of course to fix any jewelry! My father bought my mother her engagement ring here in 1960. There was only one place my husband and I would consider getting our wedding rings and it's Piette's. We drove from Connecticut just to shop here. Wonderful family run business that takes pride in what they do and provide wonderful customer service. We had a month to plan our wedding as we moved it up unexpectedly when it became clear my mother would not win her fight against cancer. Piette's was so kind and had our rings ready in a week as promised. Their jewelry is beautiful. Don't shop those corporate box stores for jewelry. Wow! I am so grateful that we found Piette Jewelers! I have a milestone birthday coming up and we had to cancel a planned celebration trip. My husband suggested I think about a piece of jewelry instead. I don't wear a lot of necklaces, but, said if I could find a simple diamond necklace that I could wear with anything - that would do the trick. We visited local jewelers closer to us that had surprisingingly very little to show us. I started to look for other jewelers and noticed all the great reviews for Piette. I saw something online that I liked and Ross offered to order it for me with no obligation as it would replace one they had sold. When we got there for our appointment, it just didn't do it for me. Way to small. When we asked to see other options, TRAYS of options came out. I saw one stone that I really liked, but, I wasn't crazy about the chain it was on. TRAYS of other chain options came out. I got my diamond ring 37 years ago and any time it needs repair (because it is old) they are able to fix it and keep my original setting intact. So, I had a diamond and sapphire cocktail type ring that I was given in 1987. The diamonds were just chips and I happened to lose one this past December. I brought the ring to Piette's to repair. The ring was inspected by one of the younger Piette family members and other than the one diamond that was missing no other flaws were revealed about the ring. I had the diamond replaced and it cost about $40.00. All worth it for the sentimental value of the ring. It was shiny, bright and looked brand new. During the winter snow storm "Nemo" I went out and shoveled ( about 3 weeks after getting the ring back) I wore gloves and have done similiar activities with the ring on over the 25 years I had it. That evening I felt a rough spot on the band and did not think much of it. I went to the gym the following day and on the next day while typing on my computer I noticed my sapphire was gone. I took off the ring and there was a complete crack in the band. I brought the ring up to Piette's and the owner stated I must have "banged it pretty hard" or did something to cause excess pressure on the ring. (I did not) I asked if repairing the diamond could have caused such pressure and he denied any wrong doing on their part. He said my ring was "porous" and would be prone to breaking. He encouraged us to send the ring to his repair person. In addition to the one crack all the way through the ring, there was another that was not all the way through. The plan to which we agreed, was to have the ring inspected again and replace the sapphire with a citrine or sapphire, depending on cost and if it would be worth repairing or not, due to the porous nature of the metal. My husband and I were EMPHATIC that we did not want to repair it, if it would just keep falling apart. Again we were assured that the ring would be inspected and if not worth repairing it would not be done. We received a call that the ring COULD be repaired and we decided to go with a citrine. I received my ring on 3/3. Paid $176.55. I wore the ring out to dinner and to bed. The following day I looked down and a diamond was missing again. On 3/6, my husband brought the ring up and wanted a refund. They tried telling us that they told us the metal was porous and they really could not be held responsible. I went today 3/7 and insisted on having the citrine removed and getting my money back. Again they were not willing to assume any responsibility for the bad repair job and for telling me it could be repaired when it obviously should not have been repaired. We settled on me paying for the citrine and I was refunded $155, I did not want the ring to be further damaged and risk losing more diamonds. But yet, they made me pay for the citrine with no thought to the diamond and sapphire I lost most likely because of them! BUYER BEWARE read more
