Justine is my hero! I got a piece done at a "5-star parlor" which was supposed to honor my mom who had just passed. It was supposed to say "Goodnight Iren" but to my surprise it ended up saying "Boobnight Iren" (the before picture) (pretty funny now, but not so much when it happened) I reached out to a few artists and most came back with 'Come and we'll see if we can do anything' or 'I have to see if it can match my style.' Justine was the only one who actually took the time and met with me online the same day and talked out options. I sent a few examples and sketches from my favorite artist (Gustav Dore) and within 2 days she sent me a mock up. It was much better than I expected and matched the style I like really well. As far as the work itself, we had 4 sessions, she is very timely, super clean (and I'm a germaphobe), very conscious of how I was feeling throughout the whole process. The room was camling, the music was relaxing, and the painful process of getting a tattoo was an afterthought. I'm glad my original tattoo got messed up cause it let me through this journey and I'll definitely be going back to Justine for more, but maybe without getting a bad tattoo first this time.

I can't say enough great things about Aimee! She was incredibly patient and truly took her time to understand my vision. From the initial consultation to the final details of the design, she listened carefully and made sure every element was exactly what I wanted. During the session, Aimee's gentle approach and professionalism made the whole experience a joy. She constantly checked in to ensure I was comfortable and made me feel completely at ease throughout. She made sure I knew the aftercare procedures and even checked up on my tattoo over the next couple of days/weeks. The studio is in a cool, vintage building downtown. The shop inside is clean, spacious, and bright. Parking is pretty easy; there are many lots and parking garages nearby. If you're looking for an artist who genuinely cares about their work and their clients, I highly recommend Aimee! I will definitely be returning for another!

Justine is such an artist. She took the time to make sure the designs were what we wanted, consulted about color and placement, and is so attentive in every way. I will 100% get tattooed by her again.

Honestly, I can't say enough about Justine, her beautiful studio and her stunning work. Even before stepping foot in her studio, when texting for some advice about a design I needed updating, I received a prompt callback with friendly information and a general quote. When the appointment day came, from the moment I walked in, she made me feel completely at home. It's a beautiful space, very relaxed with plants and soft lighting - in a great little corner of the historic core (DTLA). Her attitude is beyond gracious, she made me feel completely at ease - and most importantly, her work is stunning. I left with two beautifully-updated pieces, one on my arm and one on my chest. Justine is a pro with fine-line work, my pieces are rather delicate and I just couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Thank you so much Earth Altar. I'll definitely be back when ready for another ink adventure.

I want to get my first tattoo. Have been getting henna blessing on my wrist for years . I'm thinking of getting this one but tweaked a bit . I'm 70 years old . Smaller boned extreme Athlete .. Grateful

I had a great experience here at Earth Altar Studio and I am absolutely in love with my tattoo I got from Justine. The vibe was great and she's the sweetest soul out there. From setting an appointment to directions where to park and to get into the building. My entire experience was amazing. Can't wait to stop by again soon for another tattoo. Very nice and neat tattoo studio. Everything is very clean and I absolutely love all her mirrors. I love how comfortable she made me feel. Making sure before tattooing me the size was good and where I'd like it. Music was also on point and her patience also made me super comfortable

Calling all earthlings: make your way to Earth Altar for your next tattoo, ASAP! I got my most recent piece here just a few hours ago and I'm already ready to sing their praises! I'd been wanting a new piece for awhile, but hadn't found the right artist to execute. While I already had some pieces, I didn't think the artists who did that work had the style I needed. I found Mari's work through Instagram and was so impressed that I reached out to her almost immediately! The booking request form is really thorough and it even asks for your pronouns, which I really appreciate! Mari responded to my email quickly and it was immediately clear that she understood precisely what I wanted and how to execute. She was also transparent about pricing, which I deeply appreciated. I reached out to the shop over the holidays so it took a little while to hear back for scheduling, but I love that the studio gave staff time to rest and recuperate! Red helped get me scheduled and was very communicative about the shop's requirements and policies. The deposit process was quick and easy as well. Each artist has their own deposit cost, but the process is all the same. The studio is in Eagle Rock on Colorado. I didn't park on Colorado since I wasn't sure exactly how long my appointment would take; luckily there's plenty of parking in the neighborhood's side streets. The shop is hidden from the outside, which I appreciated because it afforded me a sense of privacy. I rang the doorbell and Emma at the front desk greeted me so warmly. When I walked in, I was struck by how bright, clean, and inviting the space was--it felt so comfortable, especially since I knew I'd be there for awhile. I took a seat and Emma sent me the shop's consent form. The form was super detailed, even including info about covid, and I am so grateful that they ask clients whether or not they're ok with their piece being shared. After completing the form, I waited a bit and Mari came over to share what she had come up with based on our conversation. She had several different sketches and I loved each one, so it was actually difficult to narrow it down, but I asked for her opinion and she helped me made a decision. We discussed sizing and placement, and she went to prep things. From there, she applied the stencil and we got right to work! Mari has such a sweet, gentle bedside manner. She checked in on me frequently and offered plenty of opportunities to take a break (though, thankfully, I didn't need to). She's a joy to chat with and I loved learning more about how she views the world. One thing she shared with me is that she originally was just working at the front desk, but the owner took her under her wing and gave her the opportunity to learn tattooing. I feel that story speaks volumes about the type of shop that Earth Altar is and how they do business. I also loved the wall of her station because it not only showcased her tattoo work but her overall personality. I felt so comfortable and safe with Mari, and in no way did I feel like she was rushing to get the piece done. When getting a tattoo, it's always a balance between getting the piece done quickly to make sure you're not in pain and taking the appropriate amount of time to ensure the details look good. Mari found that balance so effortlessly that it's hard to believe she hasn't been doing this for her entire life! The piece itself came out beautifully and I feel that she really honored all the things that I was looking for. Her pricing was very reasonable and she shared with me that it's important that she be as accessible as possible without compromising her own needs or boundaries; that approach really resonated with me and I'm glad our values aligned. Once the piece was done, Mari made sure to share aftercare info with me and bandage me up. I appreciate that she gave me the rundown--even though I already have a few pieces, I think it's still important to share that info anyway, to cover the bases. From there she asked if she could snap a few photos of me, and while it was totally ok with me, I am glad she asked! Checking out at the front was super easy. Emma prepped a Venmo QR code for me to pay, and was very patient when my phone was being persnickety. There's also a sheet with every artist's QR code as well, so I was able to leave a nice tip for Mari. Overall, I had such a wonderful experience working with Mari and the whole Earth Altar team. The shop is run with a focus on safety and integrity, and the beauty of Mari's work speaks for itself. I'm so excited to walk around with her art on my arm forever. Whether it's with Mari or with someone else at the studio, I am certain you'll be in great hands!

I decided to get one of Aimee's flash tattoos, and couldn't have been happier with the results as well as the experience! Recommend this studio to all(:

    Fresh tattoo!

Had the pleasure of getting my first tattoo done by Justine! Going in I was a little nervous because it was a completely new experience, however my nerves were instantly calmed after meeting justine. She offered some water which I was happy to receive, and showed me the design she had been working on for my tattoo. I was very happy abt how the design came out, it was pretty spot on with what I described to her during the consultation! Like I said it was my first tattoo experience so I was really trying to take it all in, here are a few things I noticed while getting tattooed: 1. The shop was really clean, like super duper clean which was really comforting to see. 2. Justine has an extremely soft hand I legit fell asleep at one point and my tattoo was in upper chest/shoulder area which I would imagine is not the easiest place (pain wise) to get tatted. 3. Justine had a bunch of really cool art she had either just finished or was currently working on around the studio and some chill music playing. The art was cool to look at while on the table. 4. I've heard that some tattoo tables can be pretty uncomfortable, the ones here are super comfy imo!

I had the most amazing experience getting my 2nd tattoo here at Earth Altar Studio! Justine was amazing and my tattoo turned out perfect! thank you so much Justine for such an amazing experience! I'll definitely be coming back here for more tattoos!

Freshly finished partial half sleeve with Vickie!!

Wow - what can I say about Earth Altar Studio?? I don't think I can put all of my thoughts into words, this shop exceeds expectations and offers creative, friendly, personalized, and compassionate service. From the messaging back and forth, to reception and check in interactions, the the artists that work there, I've never felt so welcomed and so supported in a tattoo space. Emma is an absolute peach with a beautiful, kind soul and she goes above and beyond every single time I come in or email with her to schedule an appointment. She gives off such amazing energy and is a bright smiling face to ease any nerves you might have! Vickie is hands down my favorite tattoo artist in the world. Talk about pure talent and creativity, her gorgeous floral style will blow you away. I'm coming in again soon to finish the partial half sleeve in my photo, and when I do I have no doubts she will bring my ideas to life flawlessly. She is so kind, and extremely passionate about her work. She truly invests herself into her art and takes the time to look at and hear your ideas so she can craft you the perfect piece. Not to mention she's great with black and grey AND color!!!! Seriously, take a look at her work, follow her on social media, and once her books open again DO NOT hesitate to reach out with an idea. I thought I would go in for one tattoo with her, and I keep on coming back because I'm addicted she's such an amazing artist and I cannot wait to see how this half sleeve (probably will be a full sleeve) develops. THANK YOU!!!!!

Very happy with my tattoo with Mari from Earth Altar. The atmosphere and general feeling in the shop was super welcoming and professional. The giant monstera plant is amazing. I scheduled this app a month ago and Mari was very attentive and and flexible with scheduling. Mari was always making sure I was alright, if I needed anything, a break, water, questions or thoughts along the way. I was very confident with her work and love how this turned out. I will definitely make another appointment for another piece in the future! Thanks Mari and thank you to the lovely woman at the front desk, she was so kind.

After my wonderful first experience back in 2019, I knew if I wanted a floral tattoo piece in the future, I wanted to return to Earth Altar Studio for Vickie, and that's exactly what I did! Vickie's books reopened and I sent in my request form in hopes of a response. Later that week, Vickie got back to me! I was able to schedule an appointment and was incredibly excited to see her again and return to this studio. I was greeted by Emma, who is such a welcoming and sweet soul! Vickie remembered me as well. My session in April was about 6 hours long and was the longest session I have ever experienced. This was the biggest tattoo piece I have ever gotten too. Vickie was so incredibly patient and understanding when I asked for breaks and additional application of the numbing spray. She also offered to schedule me a second session, if I felt like my body has reached its limit for the day. I was able to push through, and the piece came out beautiful! I have received many compliments. After I was done with the session, Emma offered to escort me back to my car as I was starting to feel sore, which was so kind of her! I was able to walk just fine. She reassured me that if I had any questions, do not hesitate to email her with any questions I had about the healing process. I came home and questions came to mind, so I contacted her and she responded very quickly! I really appreciate her kind heart. Fast forward 2 1/2 months later, and Vickie's books reopened. I wanted to extend my hip/thigh floral piece by her further down my thigh. I sent in another request and was so grateful that she wanted to work with me again this soon! I was greeted by Emma again, and she remembered me from our first encounter in April! I absolutely love Emma's energy. My session this time was about 3 hours long. Vickie did a wonderful job! The additional flowers and monarch butterfly look like they were always on me. I really appreciate Vickie for working with me again! I am absolutely in love with my entire floral piece! I can't recommend this tattoo studio enough! From the ambiance, music (I recognized so many songs while I was getting tattooed, which made me feel at ease during my sessions), and excellent customer service, it's a wonderful place to get tattooed!

I did need to cancel my original appointment early the morning a day prior due to being ill with GG, and I was informed I would need to place another deposit. I agreed and specifically asked whether that additional deposit would apply toward the tattoo, and I was told that it would. When I arrived for the rescheduled appointment, I was told it did not apply and that this had been communicated via text. After reviewing the messages, I did not see that clarification reflected. I did not argue because I respected her and complied. I also want to note that I was not made aware of any written shop policy regarding deposits in this situation. Based on the wording of the conversation, it came across that the additional deposit was for accountability due to the late cancellation, rather than that the original deposit would no longer count toward the tattoo. It's also worth mentioning that policy isn't anywhere nor was communicated to me. During the session, the artist stopped partway through because she wasn't feeling well, which I completely understand and respect. However, once the tattoo healed (it has now been over a month), I noticed visible shakiness in the linework, inconsistent line weight, and areas of blowout that were not apparent initially. I want to be clear that I genuinely love the tattoo concept itself, my concern is specifically with the execution. I paid a significant amount for the piece, and while I am not seeking a refund, as nice as that'd be, I was disappointed by the technical quality of the finished linework. Especially receiving a tattoo from this artist before and it being absoloutely amazing. So trust was broken there as well. As it healed I didn't really notice at first how poorly done it was. So later, when I reached out to book my next tattoo, I did not receive a response and noticed I was blocked from viewing the artist's stories, which made the lack of communication feel exclusionary and unprofessional. My intention in this review isn't to place blame, but to ask for acknowledgment. I value transparency, especially with permanent work. I paid quite a bit for very very poorly done healed work. It ended up being over $250+.

Ultimately I go into the shop and tell him specifically the points I didn't agree with about the tattoo, and the points that I said I actually thought were impressive. He had decided overall the entire thing needs to be taken off and that's what he was going to do. Now I don't know this guy, but I've known a lot of people in my life, and my impression off the jump was that he's the type of person to come out the gates hard saying he can fix a problem, or find a solution for something, but he's probably not gonna do it. Give some time and he'll fizzle and not come through on his word. Overall, that's exactly what happened. I let him take the reins, and ultimately he decided that I'm too unappreciative for his offering of fixing my tatoo. The price to laser the tattoo apparently is more expensive than what I paid for the tattoo, and therefore I should be walking in with glitter shooting out my eyes with appreciation. On our first session personally I was not in a financial place to tip him, and I really didn't know if this was the type of situation to tip him. But after that first session, he's entire vibe changed and I really think it was because he did not get tipped. His vibe said, " what's in it for me." Vs "I'm doing right for the sake of right." Which is the type of person I usually do business with; ppl who go extra miles to make a customer happy. After ghosting me, and you know you were, six days no response, he then starts to bring up the word cover- up. As if the amount of sessions needed we were pursuing was ultimately moving towards a cover-up. This is so triggering to me because this is exactly why I flipped my shit the first time. Both these men decided to make decisions about what's going on my body without talking to me or getting my consent. This is not OK. If we were doing a cover-up, then we wouldn't have lasered the entire circumference of my ankle causing so much recovery on my part. We would have just done the minor edges and little things that I had talked about specifically to you like the rosebud and the banana leaf. Straight up Mr., I'm not appreciative because I didn't want more pain, so you are correct Chris, but bottom line if we were choosing a cover-up, this word should have been brought up when we first talked about the tattoo and what we're going to do in the future plan. The shop gets one star because they can't listen and for a woman's body in 2025----when she tells you what she wants and you guys make a decision about her body without talking to her and getting HER CONSENT FOR HER BODY changing the plan this is not OK.

I've been getting tattooed by Jason Martin at Lefty's Tattoo for over 20 years, and I can honestly…read moresay he's the only artist I'll ever let tattoo me. I started going to Jason back in my 20s, and now that I'm in my 50s, he's still the absolute best in his craft -- if anything, he just keeps getting better. Jason can do everything: stunning cover-ups, beautiful watercolor pieces, and all styles including American Traditional, Neo-Traditional, New School, Black and Gray, Realism, and Japanese Tattoo Style. He's incredibly versatile and adapts to whatever idea or vision you bring him. Every tattoo he's done for me has turned out even better than the picture or concept I had in mind. What really stands out is his professionalism and attention to detail. Lefty's Tattoo is exceptionally clean, professional, and welcoming. The entire team (Josh and Jay in particular) is kind, respectful, and you can tell they truly care about their clients. The equipment is always sterile, clean and up to date, and the environment is relaxed but focused. Even as my skin has changed over the years, Jason knows exactly how to work with it -- every line, color, and detail still comes out amazing. He's a true artist who understands the craft inside and out. If you're looking for a tattoo artist you can trust completely, someone who listens, delivers beyond expectations, and treats you like family, Jason Martin and his team at Lefty's Tattoo is the one. Hands down, the best there is. Thank you, Jason -- you've been my artist, my friend, and a part of my story for over two decades. Here's to many more!

He recently completed a sleeve on my right arm with a hot rod theme. The lines are tight, the colors pop, and i am thrilled with the end result! I already set up my next appointment with him for my left arm sleeve. If you want a great tattoo go see Jason Martin at Lefty's Tattoo!
