For more than 25 years, Deborah has been incredibly consistent. She always makes my hair look beautiful, but more importantly, she has always helped me keep it healthy. She has been through ALL my hair eras Blonde, brown, dark brown, almost black, and everything in between. One of my favorite looks was when she did my light brown hair with highlights. I would constantly get stopped by people asking where I got my hair done. That's actually how so many of my friends and colleagues ended up going to Deborah too, and many of them still go to her today. She is extremely talented with color, cuts, and beautiful extensions. I also have very curly hair, so having someone who truly knows how to cut curly hair without having you walk out looking like a mushroom is KEY! Deborah gets it. She also stays up to date on the latest products, techniques, and styles, which I really appreciate. After all these years, I can confidently say I trust her with my hair. If you're looking for an experienced and talented hairstylist in Lawndale or anywhere in the South Bay, I definitely recommend Deborah!

However, over time I noticed that once she becomes comfortable with a long-term client, she grows complacent. Her root touch-ups became rushed and sloppy, and she didn't seem to care if she blended over or erased the highlights. She also didn't straighten the hair well afterward, and I found myself having to point out every small detail. The owner of the salon, on the other hand, is a true professional. You could clearly see the difference when one day the owner and this stylist finished two clients at the same time--one looked polished and elegant, while the other walked out having wasted her money. It was honestly embarrassing, and I felt bad for the woman who didn't receive quality work. At this point, I genuinely don't want to return to this salon.

I've been seeing Kelly for over 20 years...longer than either of us would like to admit. However, I feel like the beginning of our journey is why he kept coming back to her and why it's so important you know how special her and her salon are. So when I started seeing Kelly, I was a pubescent preteen tagging along to the salon with my dad (yes my dad was my salon and fashion guru in my house). I first met Kelly when she was still working at Floyd's but followed her when she opened her first salon in Redondo. I was an independent and precious teen that Kelly welcome with open arms and handled well (aka all of my teenage insecurities and apprehensions with my hair - plus I always had fun yapping and gossiping with her. Fast forward to when I finally made the move to chop off my very long hair in favor of a shorter look. My bestie who loves Kelly too did it with me. While we were both excited, it was obviously a big physical change that we were a little all over the place about. Kelly was so good though! She checked in with both of us as we cut off chunks and ended up creating my go to hair style and cut for nearly 10 years now. Flash forward a few years after that - I was getting married. My husband and I both wanted to choose vendors who were close and meaningful to use where we could. Of course for my hair, my mind immediately went to Kelly. Not only did she do a spectacular job, she made it so personable and made sure I felt like I shined throughout the process. We even ended up moving our test for my wedding hair so that we could get the real feel for how it all would be with my hair piece when it finally got delivered. Day of getting ready...I'll just say I'm so glad she was there and also wouldn't have had it any other way. Decades later, I've followed her from place to place. I've also periodically worked with the other vendors she staffs in her salon. In fact, her brow and lash person Moji at her Redondo spot did my brows and lashes for my wedding. As of today, I'm beyond grateful to still know and be connected to Kelly but also that they've opened a spot so nearby. For the first time in ages (at no fault to her but just pandemic stuff, personal busy schedule, and also personal laziness), I've resumed regular hair cuts with Kelly and have ongoing nails done by Ashley, the nail artist in her salon. I've never consistently kept a nail artist or maintained my nails, so it's kind of huge that I feel willing to make that commitment. Ashley has been such a game changer for my nails. Besides her being willing to indulge me in any design I come up with, she's helped me get my nails and cuticles healthy. The very first time I saw her, she even sent me home with supplies to help me deal with my perpetual hangnails and unrelenting desire to demolish them when driving or fidgeting. My nails are now stronger and longer than they've ever been and my cuticles barely need addressing (yay more time for design!!). Besides me making the effort to be there more, every time I visit the salon I wish I could stay. Every single one of the people working there are amazing, hilarious, fun, and so so talented. I love going in and seeing Kelly getting her nails done by Ashley, Diana getting her hair done by Mayra, or Kim popping over to share in on the laughs and crack us up more. I've included some pics of my hair journey and maintenance and have included some of bridal looks Kelly did. I also have several pics of where my nails started to all of the places Ashley has taken my nails. I will continue to update over the years to give you all a fresh set of what they're up to but I really feel Kelly and I will be in walkers talking about the 2000s one day like we currently talk about the 1900s. #NeverChangeVanitySalon #VanitySalon P.S. I've successfully convinced several friends to be regular clients, which they did willingly lol. Even though they've all moved farther away - Kelly still asks about them (and my family ) whenever I see her and they also all always tell me to send her my love.
