I called this shop this afternoon resulting in no answer. They had given me a call back which was very nice of them. Following I asked if they had real gold nose ring hoops and belly button ring hoops, which the guy answered yes. As I'm about to ask them if they would be able to change my nose ring out for me the sales associate interrupts by saying " stop asking me stupid questions were busy". I followed up by hanging up the phone. First off WTF... this is the 4th place I called and the first 3 could only fulfill 2/3 requests; making it reasonable to be asking these questions before going out of my way/ finding parking on moody street after a snow storm. I'm baffled by this behavior and can only imagine it is directly correlated with bad service, bad quality and sketchy business practices. read more

Went to get my first ear piercings in Summer 2021. Paid $75 for the piercings and the jewelry combined. They were fast and effective and gave clear instructions on care to avoid infection. However, I had jitters as I'm not good with needles and such, but my piercer seemed slightly curt and I didn't feel exactly comfortable voicing my fears. +1 star because they had a cute and friendly cat in the store (not the piercing room to avoid contamination, obviously) and we were able to pet it! read more

lots of issues with sanitation. i just went for help getting piercings placed back in after surgery and had never been here before. he complained about the fact that i used internally threaded flat backs (the safest kind of piercings) and used the shadiest looking taper i have ever seen. although everything was sealed in sanitation packs i didn't see any sanitation equipment aside from sea salt spray (which he didn't sell there). he was unable to get my septum in properly despite the hole still being fully open and then dropped the actual gem i had into the trash by mistake. this happened after i told him i could get the ball on myself and just needed help with the ring, i got a free septum ring since my og piece could no longer be placed but would have rather he just have admitted being unable to do it. also there was a cat present in the shop and the whole thing was overall not the cleanest. ill be continuing to drive to worcester for my piercing needs. read more

I didn't even get into the shop, and after speaking with someone on the phone and reading the reviews (which I was going to do after making the phone call but clearly should have done before) I am glad I didn't. I had emailed them a day or so before but they didn't reply (which isn't that big of a deal) but I needed to figure out my schedule, so I called. When the person answered the phone, they were rushed and rude. I then asked if they had seen my email and they said "they had felt lazy lately and were not checking emails." I can't in a million years understand why, even if that was the truth, you would tell a potential customer that. If you are too lazy to check the email associated with your business , why would I trust you to put multiple piercings in my ear? Like ten seconds later I think they realized what they said and tried to walk it back by saying they were busy, but the damage was already done. It didn't help that when I asked about hours they said (even though their online hours are from 10 am to 9 pm) that they are actually only doing piercings from 3 pm to 9 pm. Maybe this would make sense if they did tattoos, but they don't. They said they hadn't gotten around to updating it. Kind of seems like a pattern... Anyway, betweeen the reviews, the lack of information on the poorly designed website, and the phone call I have already booked an appointment somewhere else, while not as close, (this is the main reason I reached out to this spot in the first place) it looks much better. read more

I didn't even go in, I just hated it. I called ahead to see if they were still doing septum piercings during covid, and if so how much it would cost for the piercing and jewelry. The man on the phone got upset with me and spoke over me saying "look come her and I'll take care of you, but I can't keep answering questions I am very busy" and then hung up on me. I decided to have my ear cartilage pierced on a Sunday. The piercing went okay, the staff seemed nice enough. However, even though I followed the instructions by Wednesday my ear was red, swollen and very painful. The staff said I should come in to get a jewelry change. I did. Free of charge. They also sold me H2O when previously I was told saline solution was enough. I was woozy and my ear was throbbing shortly thereafter so I went to my doc who said I had cellulitis, and prescribed an antibiotic. I was told to take out the piercing, when I returned home. Since I have I feel much better. Buyer beware. read more

It was the 4th of July and I was really overwhelmed. I walked in 10 minutes to closing, and met George. I was there to have my nipples pierced. He was pressed for time, but took enough time with me. He was very professional and made me feel very comfortable. The place was very cleaned and organized. I did have previous nipple piecing, that had to be removed, because they were in danger of being infected. I slept very well last night with no pain at all. Wish I could give them 0 stars. My friend and I called a week ago to book an appointment to get our bellybuttons pierced. The man on the phone was kind and told us to come in at 2pm on Sunday, July 24th. So, today we drove almost an hour and a half to get here. We got to Almoda around 1:45ish and the door was locked. We didn't see anything wrong with that, as he said to come at 2pm anyway. So, we waited 20 minutes and came back at 2:05. We walked in and told the man at the counter that we called ahead of time and that the man on the phone told us to come in today at 2. The man had an attitude and told us to come back after 2 then. We looked at the time and it was 2:07. He then said to let him have his coffee first and then he'll be with us. We said ok, as we were perfectly fine with waiting a little bit. As we waited, we looked at the jewelry options and talked amongst ourselves. The man then told us to be quiet and to not talk. He said he has a headache. We weren't being loud at all, so we found this extremely odd. The man was visibly hungover and acting so rude to us (his customers). So, we left. We now have to drive another hour and a half back home due to this inconvenience. I had come here a few times and the past. Always have very great service until now. The lady that works there is very rude. She really did not even greet people when they came in as much as she just stares at the person like the store is private property and the customer is a trespaster. I called to ask if I could come in to get an possible infected piercing looked at she said come in at 8, mind you i called at 5. I came in around 7:45 and she said the piercer left for the day, they close at 9. I was like but I called and was told 8. She acted dumbfounded and then called the guy to come back and acted like she was going above and beyond. Luckily he came back and I'm all good now but the lady rub me such the wrong way I would never come back. I went here last summer for two cartilage piercings. I added the second star because the first hole was fine during and after the process. The second hole was a little higher up on my ear. He had a hard time getting the needle through and he made my ear bleed. I've never had anything I've gotten pierced bleed before--not even the gun users at Claire's, whom we all know aren't professionals! And this one hurt as much as my daith, which I think is way thicker cartilage. The jewelry he put in had a flat back. It took a long time to heal. I kept getting flare ups (to keep this from getting too in detail, that hole kept getting irritated and those bumps showed up). I did swap out the jewelry once it seemed fine but again, it kept getting irritated. Every two months or so it's getting infected? When none of my other piercings have this issue, including the other one I got pierced that same day by the same guy?? The jewelry I replaced both with was sterling silver. Full disclosure: I did not return to this place when I had the first issue of it becoming irritated, because I didn't like my experience during the piercing. Everything's clean and neat in the store and piercing area, but the piercing process was painful and I bled. I just did the sea salt soaks to make the bumps go away. They did give me a bit of a discount off the piercing prices for my troubles. I wasn't going to write any review, even though I had an unpleasant experience, but here I am, more than a year later and my piercing is irritated again. I, personally, am never going back there. Also, be aware that the piercer isn't always on site. I waited fifteen minutes for him to arrive. read more

Just walked in with my son to get his nose pierced, I asked the guy to see a hoop I could purchase so that it could be used to position & see how he'd like it. The guy was a complete douche! He barely looked up from what be was doing to talk to us , or the other two customers that were looking to purchase goods. I've had piercings done there several times in the past by a different guy, but the one in there now is just rude, save your money and time, shop elsewhere. read more

My first stop here was a great experience. I was looking to replace an earring that had fallen out last week. I received great service and also a little education on a piercing I had done elsewhere 8 years ago. It ended up that I needed the hole to be stretched and it was done just so damn smoothly. I got my belly button pierced here in July 2011. I was absolutely terrified to do it, but the piercer made me feel comfortable and at ease. He gave me breathing techniques during the piercing process which made me not even realize that the needle was in and out in no time! All in all, the process only took about ten minutes! Everything was clean, and the needles were sterile (right out of wrapper in front of me), he wore fresh gloves, etc etc. The barbell he put in initially ended up being too short, so I went back and then changed it to a larger one for free - and then let me keep both for when it healed. I went back to buy the saline solution they sell a few days later, they gave me a discount. (I initially thought I didn't need it.. silly me!). He continued to check my belly ring to make sure that it was healing properly and didn't have the beginning signs of an infection.They remember me when I go and gave me a hefty discount on a piercing I'm still considering. ($20 for a rook, it's $60 usually). Why I didn't give it five stars: 1) I was never told the piercers name and 2) the piercer is hard to track if you don't catch him at the right time. When I got the barbell changed, I ended up waiting almost an hour and a half for him to come back from a "lunch break" which was extremely inconvenient. Overall, a great experience, my belly ring is now totally healed and I will be heading back there soon to pick up some cute new belly rings. (And maybe go for the rook piercing). read more

Came in to get advice on an infected cartilage piercing with the original stud no longer in. A younger guy to help me took what felt like an hour trying to put an earring in; pulling and tugging at the infected piercing while telling me to trust him. An older guy came in on his break, scolded the younger guy, got a new stud in in about 5 min, and gave pretty good advice on how to maintain the piercing. If you're a gambling man, you might tolerate this shop. I'm completely turned off by the inexperience of the first person that helped me. read more

So great!! The piercer was incredibly and helpful! It was my first piercing besides my ears which I did when I was 7 and he made me feel so comfortable! It was in the mall which seemed funny at first, but it was very well done! He picked the perfect placement and was very carful about being sterile. I Came in right when they opened at 10 AM to get my navel re-pierced and my two hip dermals re-pierced. Everyone was so nice! and Daniel the piercer was amazing he really took the time to make sure that my piercings were even and symmetrical and that they looked nice... also he made me feel very comfortable I am much more self-conscious since having my son but I felt right at home and not judged whatsoever...I had a baby 18 months ago so he wanted to make sure they were in the right place where they would stay in and complement my slimming stomach. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and put up with all of my questions, and even helped me pick out my jewelry which was really nice... she was great when I called yesterday a couple times to ask for prices and what not... not to mention they are the best priced piercers I've ever gone to! their doing a special $35 for dermal piercings and $45 for navel piercing anywhere else would cost you at least $65 for a navel and over 80 for dermals so I was very happy when I heard the prices! they were very clean and Daniel really knew what he was talking about! I will be coming here for the rest of my dermals I want done! they also have an excellent selection of jewelry read more

My 19 yr old daughter had gone elsewhere for an ear piercing and 2 months later was having pain issues and holes seemed to have closed up overnight. She was ready to give up. I brought her to Almoda figuring a piercing place would be much more professional than an earring shop with a piercing gun. And I was right! The man (sorry, didn't get his name) was so nice and patient with my daughter. It wasn't completely painless but she said wasn't nearly as painful as us trying to jam a stud in her ear. He spent over 20 minutes re-opening the holes and fitting her with new studs and directions to make sure this didn't happen again. and told us to come back should she have any issues. And actually her ears have felt great immediately following our visit. Would highly recommend! read more

She went to the Arsenal Mall to try to find a "Carry on garment bag". She saw that this shop sold some luggage as well so she went in and they directed her to one garment bag. She asked if it was "carry on size". She was assured that yes. She then paid for it and after charging our credit card was told that "By the way, all sales are final". Odd. We got home and discovered that this piece of luggage was not even close to legal carry on size. In fact, it is well beyond carry-on size for any airline in any country by a very wide margin (22x22x9 inches). Most allow around 22x14x9, or thereabouts. So I called to speak to the manager. Told him our story. He said "I'm sure we can work something out". He called back and didn't have any other garment bags that are legal carry-on size. So I asked him for a refund. He denied, saying that my wife was never told it was carry on size. I put him on speaker and my wife relayed to him exactly what his employee told us. Then the manager said "Well you can carry it on, but not on an airplane". At that point, it was obvious to me that these people are shady. My wife is in tears. I lost my temper, then hung up. BUYER BEWARE. They are sneaky, dishonest, and do not conduct business as we do in America. read more

This place isn't what it used to be. I'd been before (years ago) to have my ears pierced and it was affordable and quick, so I went back again. The guy who pierced my ears this time didn't listen when I said I thought the dots he'd drawn were uneven; he refused to redo them, wouldn't listen to my input, and pierced my ears using the dots he'd drawn. Then rushed me out the door. Definitely never coming back! 2 stars because it was cheap. read more

I got my cartilage done here and a couple weeks later when I went to change my earring I saw that the earring was broken. The inner half of my ear was pierced and the outer part had closed. The ball they put on was broken to begin with, instead of trying to understand my problem when I returned to them, they were very disrespectful and refused to acknowledge they did anything wrong. I was nothing but respectful to them but they literally THREW a sheet of earrings at me and said it will cost 30$ to fix the piercing. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and a WASTE of MONEY! Shady business...do not recommend. Several people had told me this was a good place to get a safe cartilage piercing, so I went and got two. The piercing went fine (although it appeared they sort of made up the pricing on the spot). Almost two months later when I tried to remove the earrings it was impossible. I had chosen the small hoops with the little ball on it that screws in to secure the earring. The balls would not budge and therefore I couldn't change the earrings. I called them to ask for help and they said to come in, so I did. They said they would have to charge a fee to remove them.....even though it was their fault for screwing them on too tight and originally they did not tell me I would have to come back in to have them removed. I went through with it because I didn't want the earrings in forever.....most painful procedure ever, the man ended up having to use pliers and he messed up and pinched my ear, getting the pliers stuck in my earring. After 10-15 minutes of torture it was done. I guess my advice would be either choose the studs when getting a piercing, or don't go here. read more

The only reason I'm writing this review is because I've been going to Almoda for piercings since I was 13 or 14 years old, so a good 8 or 9 years now. In my opinion, Almoda was better when the piercer Kamel was running the place, but over the years the store has just gone downhill. In general, the two employees that run the place now are unfriendly, and get annoyed the minute you ask them a single question. First things first, the employees always act like they're cutting you a deal when you ask them about prices for piercings, something along the lines of, "$40 but for you I'll do $30," when in reality $30 is the actual price for everybody else. What kind of deal is that..? Today when I walked into the store, a different employee was working, not the one who normally does my piercings. I asked him if the other man who works there could change my nose piercing, and he offered to do it so I said sure. I picked out the piercing then walked into the piercing room, when suddenly this employee runs into the room behind me and starts flipping out because I forgot to pay first. It's pretty sad having been a loyal customer to this store for years that they treat me as some sort of criminal and think I'm just going to leave without paying. I apologized to him for doing that, to which he replies, "ARE YOU OKAY..?" suggesting something was wrong with me for making a simple mistake. He starts putting the piercing in my nose and after about five minutes, still can't get it to go in (mind you I've had my nose pierced well over 7 years so it shouldn't have been such a problem). I walk out to pay, and this guy charges me $12. That's funny because I didn't know nose piercings cost $12... what a fucking ripoff. I have had piercings changed in the past and the other employee wouldn't charge me a dime. Point blank, Almoda is a scam that just wants to overcharge you and take your money. If you want a piercing done correctly, just go to a tattoo or piercing shop, but by all means avoid this place. read more
