Walked in today looking to replace jewelry that I recently broke and was helped by Liz! It was late at night and a totally reasonable time to be getting grumpy but she and everyone else on staff were in good spirits, chatting with other customers and each other. She very patiently took me through a few options for my antitragus jewelry and we settled on a really cute moon and a few other seamless rings for my lobe piercings that were currently empty. The back room where she changed my jewelry was spotless and comfortable, and she slipped the seamless rings into my (fairly closed) lobes with ease. I didnt even feel the antitragus jewlery go in. One problem: you can't tip with a card! I didn't have cash on me, so next time I drop in I'll make sure I do. Totally an oversight on my part :'(. As being such a busy mall location, I hope that these skilled piercing technicians are well appreciated, because they are AWESOME. I got an anti-eyebrow from here. I paid $125 just for me to come back 3 days later and for them to tell me that my piercing has too much skin. I got pierced by Cat and my piercing wasn't screwed tight enough! I came back and they said I had to get a longer piece of jewelry , they don't not give a damn they just want your money they don't even care if they pierced you incorrectly 0/5. And they charged me to buy new jewelry even though it was an employee error. read more

Got an industrial here several years ago now. I did all the proper things to let it heal but now it's infected and likely because of the tension put on by the barbell. It looked like it had keloids which are normal from these types of piercings but after placing individual studs in each hole it is not it seems to be worse. I will say a few piercings I got weren't the worst but this one made the whole experience not great and I will not be going back. I know they don't have much experience now and would definitely recommend going to a place with more experience. read more

I got my nose pierced four days ago at Almost Famous Body Piercings. Natalie pierced me and my friend and she was amazing with great energy. However, I was told my bar was short and was still pierced with it anyway. Within four days, my nose started embedding over the jewelry. I was then told I would have to pay for a longer bar, even though this feels like a mistake on their end. I'm currently in the ER getting it removed. Very disappointed. read more

I wanted to buy my first threadless flat back earrings for my healed cartilage piercing. They are over protective of their merchandise and the workers don't seem too friendly. They refuse to take out the threadless tops out of its individual jewelry case. I just wanted to visualize the size/shape of the jewelry next to my ear. I ended up losing the jewelry I bought about two weeks later because the workers wouldn't help me install the jewelry and I didn't know how to properly install it on myself. They told me to return the next day to get it installed for ~$10 when the cost to install it at the time of purchase was free. I ended up going to a real piercing shop after that and they were more than willing to take out their significantly pricier jewelry and hold it up against my ear for reference and install it for me for free... unlike this shop. read more

Went in to get a smaller size for my barbell. The person gave me a 5/16 claiming it was smaller than my current one. Which it wasn't. Then said they could put in the barbell. I asked to be able to just purchase it and do it myself, which was ignored. I also asked to have an extra barbell to replace another one that I hadn't had pieced for about a year. The person that put the barbells in struggled to the point of calling in a "senior piercer". The next day, my face was swollen, black eye, and both barbells fell out. Got my Ashley pierced yesterday and after the piercer was done I told her "it looks crooked" and her solution was to reprice it later on. I called the next day and they're big on "NO REFUNDS" even tho their piercing f up. Don't recommend if it's not an ear piercing tbh. read more

Do not get your piercings here yes it's a good place to get something pierced but the jewelry there is just terrible if you want good quality jewelry go to a real piercing shop not the mall I keep coming here. I got an Ashley and the opal diamond doesn't even fit in the bar and this dangling lip ring. crooked piercing, refused to refund or give me the jewlery back after they told me to keep it in to heal. it got extremely infected and i had to go to the doctor. when my mom did her septum here, they did it crooked, with a TRAINING piercer with no disclosure, and hit a BLOOD VESSLE in which she bled for 25 minutes and they still made her pay for it. My two friends and I got piercings last night with Elise. She was so AWESOME! I got a conch piercing (the teal one in the pic) and it went very well! I have the other side done years ago and was dreading it a little bit because the first time wasn,t so smooth but Elise got this done in record timing. My friend was like, "oh you're already done?" That quick. The placement is perfect and she took good care of my friends and me. I will definitely look into getting more piercings with her in the future! My only complaint is that the jewelry was not included in the price. Usually the shops I've gone to, the basic jewelry comes with it and then you pay more for something more unique or whatever. I did appreciate that I was told my total before going back so it wasn't like a surprise at the end. I've have both daiths as well as my belly, nose and cartilage pierced here and had a great experience every time. My belly was was done by a supervised trainee and went just as well as the others. Conclusion: they are great, skilled piercers, ultra-sanitary, friendly. If you feel like getting pierced while at MOA Almost Famous is a smart choice. The negative reviews mostly seem to be complaints related to things that have nothing to do with the quality their actual service. There are a few mentions of desk staff not being willing to answer questions; they are always willing to answer what they know, but some questions need to be answered by an actual piercer, and not every single person ringing up jewelry is a piercer. In those cases they'll have you wait a bit and speak to someone qualified to give you the correct information. Yes the jewelry selection is pretty limited, but you can't really put fancy jewelry in a new piercing so to me that doesn't seem surprising considering that it's a piercing shop; and everything is expensive at MOA because the rent there is astronomically high. Yes, expect to wait sometimes because it's one of the busiest malls in the country. Some of the negative reviews include complaints about things like identification requirements for getting pierced, which are a legal requirement. TL;dr: Almost Famous is super. If I could give a 0 stars I would because I am losing money by paying for their crooked piercing. I only went in to deal with Liz again after the other one was closed. she pierced me crooked literally twice and then she was the supervisor for a student. I am a visual artist and clothing designer; very good with lines and measurements. I had to get pierced 3 times with the one because it was off... they are making me pay again to have it done straight even though it is clearly off. I hate dealing with Liz who will argue with you as they all will that their work is good but then you draw lines on for demonstration and it is definitely off center when you are dropping anywhere from 300 and then plan on dropping hundreds more whatever you do run the other direction from this place. I asked to show the supervisor photos where I can clearly demonstrate that it is off center and she would not let me. I am not a finnicky person just want a job done correct. especially when I pay hundreds. now I have to wait to have it heal so I can pay to get it redone. I would not want to go here again for everything especially after the pior craftsmanship and the way I have been dismissed. I might include photos of the first piercing I got which was off center. I just don't think they have a good eye, very poor customer service. They really expect me to pay to have their bad work re-done. I am not paying for their mistakes at this location. Right away I noticed the piercing dot was off and i tried to get the girl to put if further centered but it did not turn out centered enough. I am getting pierced a total of 5 times now for two piercings just so that they sit right on my face. I just wouldn't with these guys. Instead of paying about 85 you might end up paying more like 150 and have to pierce over and over again until they get it right like I did and have the inconvenience of having them check it first and THEN having to return again for a straightening. Returning 3 to 4 times for a piercing they screw up amd try to argue with you is a total pain in the patootie. the only reason I returned for the second one is the location near me is under construction. read more

We had 2 very good experiences at Almost Famous. I wondered why the negative reviews? Tonight I discovered why. Two months ago my daughter and I got piercings together. Our experience was great! Our piercer was pleasant, allowed my teenage daughter and I to be in the room together and explained everything that she was doing. She said we could come back in 2 months to get our piercings changed for free. Very good. Not too long after my son got a piercing. Again, a good experience. Fast forward a month and we are a week shy of our 2 month date. My daughter and I made plans to go and get our piercings changed, we had been looking forward to it for almost 2 months! I called and verified that it would not be an issue if we come in a week early. The gal that answered the phone reassured me that it would be ok and that they usually allow 4 weeks. So we make our trip to the mall, head to Almost Famous. We can't get in for 3 1/2 hours. The gal taking our temperatures checks our piercings and assured us we will be good to get our piercings changed. We come back 3 1/2 hours later, pick our jewelry and head back to get them switched out. The piercer didn't allow my daughter and I to be in the room together, she was very unpleasant, and wasn't going to change my piercing! She claimed I needed to wait 4 months! After explaining the series of events and looking at my piercing she reluctantly changed my piercing without explaining her process. THEY NEED TO GET ON THE SAME PAGE ABOUT THEIR TIME REQUIREMENTS. Everyone we spoke to had a different time frame as to when it is acceptable to change their piercing. We do understand it depends on how a person heals but after 7 weeks we were healed. So...I will not recommend Almost Famous after this very frustrating experience today. read more

I lost my darth piercing. I went to Almost Famous yesterday and had a new earring put in. They practiced all CDC rules regarding COVID -19 and the facility was very clean. The girl help me match what I had in my other ear and before I knew it I was in the back with Sam. Sam did a great job explaining what her plan was before she did anything. The staff is horrible. Rude, pushy, and not helpful in regards to choosing jewelry or even what you want to get pierced. They don't get out from behind the desk to show where certain jewelry is, they merely point in the general direction and expect you to find it behind the glass areas. Cleanliness is garbage, too. One worker didn't wear gloves when handling any jewelry being purchased. While they claim they sanitize in the back, being extra sanitary never hurt. Another issue was a different worker putting together the envelopes full of cotton swabs and materials went between touching the phone and computer to touching the cottons swabs without Sanitizing or washing hands. The garbages in the piercing rooms were overflowing as well. Wait time isn't great. They told us a half hour wait, waited for over 45 minutes without being acknowledged. They even let people go ahead of us when we were waiting for so long. Their jewelry selection isn't great for the prices they charge. read more

If I can give 0 stars I definitely would!!!! I went to get a surface tragus piercing Feb. 25th my appointment was at 8pm didn't see someone until 8:40pm. I asked the girls at the counter about my piercing did they do them and showed a specific picture of the piercing I wanted and I was told yes and then picked out jewelry. Didn't find out until AFTER I was already pierced that the jewelry that was required for the piercing I wanted Almost Famous does not do that type of piercing with the flat surface bar and used a curved bar bell which I DID NOT WANT! I was not feeling the jewelry and did not like the look of the piercing which the piercer knew but I already waited a long time I was ready to leave due to having my crying kids with me. Called the very next morning asking can this be fixed and was told no matter what it was gonna have the same look. I then called back asking for a refund and this store is refusing to refund me after giving me a piercing I clearly did not like and had to go pay another shop $130 to give me the correct piercing. I have removed the piercing and was told I can't get a refund when I basically just wasted $100 at this store. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE FOR ANY PIERCINGS! I'm just visiting and I have a my nipples pierced I was so excited to get new rings. They offered to easier the ones I had they never asked how long I'd had them or offered to switch them out. They picked the gauge size and the ring size for me based on the measurements. They don't fit and it's obvious. When I went back in I tried to get them exchanged and they wouldn't exchange them. The 'manager' tried to put in what I had bought she cause me to bleed and was incredibly painful. Said they would fit in 2-4 months, and yet continued to try to force it. I am incredibly disappointed they wouldn't offer anything to exchange them. When they picked out the size for me. I repeatedly told them it was my first piercing. When I asked to speak to someone she said there was no one else to talk to. Do not waste your money or time. Their selection is terrible and the staff seems rushed and annoyed. If you live in Saint Cloud I would advise you to not go to @almostfamouspiercing . I bought a nipple piercing there and was unsatisfied with the way it was put in within the following hours. Mind you that the employee katelyn said to me if I feel uncomfortable in anyway I should come in to get it adjusted. The next day I go in they want to charge me $7 to fix something I wasn't satisfied with!!!! AND I AM A CUSTOMER!!! Horrible customer service. Period. Will not be returning. I've been here twice within last year to get my nipple piercings fixed FOR FREE now they want to slap me in the face when I bought something within 12 hours and say I have to pay for them to fix what they did. I took my daughter to get a piercing, since she is a minor it was required that I be in the room. I asked for a place to sit because I am a fainter. I was told it is not possible to allow me sit to prevent my fainting I was made to stand in the doorway. It's disappointing my concern was so dismissed! You could do better Almost Famous!! read more

Terrible service. Girls working behind the counter had no knowledge of jewelry or fittings for jewelry. I Went to get a new septum ring for my girlfriend and asked the employee which septum rings would work for her since she has it pierced higher up. She then proceeded to tell us that all of their jewelry is top grade surgical steel. This was of course false and caused my girlfriends septum to swell and we wound up having to go to a much more reputable piercer/shop to get it changed out. My advice, safe yourself the trouble and go literally anywhere else. This company sells garbage jewelry at a high price, and the employees don't show any level of professionalism. read more

I went in to get my nose re-pierced after it had been closed for a year. I figured for sure I would need to re-pierce it. I came in during COVID and I couldn't believe how clean and organized their studio was. They clearly are taking COVID very seriously and I felt very safe. I went to get my piercing, and the girl who was doing it offered to see if the piercing had not fully closed all the way (tapering, I think?) which would save a lot of $ to do instead of a full on piercing. Well sure enough, it was still open! So she reopened it and put in the jewelry for me, and I was good to go. I was so thankful to save like $50 and she was kind enough to offer that up--never would have thought of it. Anyway, the entire staff was super nice and professional and I will definitely be back :) read more

Only giving this 4 stars because It is really expensive compared to other places around the twin cities. Otherwise I have gotten a total of four piercings done with them and I have zero complaints! everyone who works there is super kind and is willing to answer any of your questions. They also have a lot of jewelry choices. One super important thing is that they are very very sanitary. Also, the aftercare is included with the price of the piercing which is also super nice. overall a great place. if you dont want to have to wait, come on a weekday earlier in the day, I promise your wait won't be more than 15 min. read more

Truly a great experience. The piercers were not only knowledgeable, but also were super friendly. I got my nose done, and it was only $70 for the nice jewelry, the cleaning kit, and the services. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a good piercing. I have had my cartilage done at mall kiosks before and have had really bad experiences, but DO NOT think of Almost Famous as a kiosk. They may be inside of Mall of America- but they are a quality piercing place who takes care of their customers. They have private piercing rooms, with sinks and sanitary NEEDLES (not guns!)
