Very nice venue. Quite large, with different rooms for events and also a large main area with tables and room enough for a live band. There is also an outdoor patio. The beer was very good and the service was courteous. The only negative on the night was that they didn't have any merch for sale - no glasses or hats or tees - which is very odd. Almost Famous Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in East Granby, Connecticut in February 2022. It was founded by business partners Chip Glanovsky and head brewer Jim Wilfinger. Friends since high school, the two partners began brewing their own beer using fresh fruit and natural ingredients. Eventually, they had a dream of opening their own brewery. In 2018, they registered their brand as "Blind Faith Brewing Company, LLC". On paper, they are still known under that name. However, sometime before their brick and mortar brewery opened in 2022, they discovered that Vermont-based Magic Hat Brewing Company had already copyrighted the name "Blind Faith" for an English IPA of theirs. Needing a new name quick, Chip and Jim settled on "Almost Famous" in reference to the 2000 film directed by Cameron Crowe. The name is also meant to honor all people who almost got famous but didn't in the end. I recently visited Almost Famous for the first time. I immediately loved the space. It's very spacious with a large taproom, plenty of seating, a private event room, a billiards room, and a classic arcade room. I also loved the Rock 'n' Roll theme that was going on. The bar was built to resemble Marshall amplifiers, truss towers, and the tap handles were all different guitars. I started off with a sampler flight that featured "Anything's Impossible" (American Pilsner), "Tangent" (Tangerine Fruited Sour), "Stranger Than Fiction" (Cream Stout), "Everybody Wants Some!" (Pineapple Vanilla Bean Milkshake IPA) and "Bitch 'B' trippin" (Double New England IPA). The latter two were my favorites. Afterwards, I enjoyed a full pour of "Bubblegumption" (Bubblegum Milkshake IPA). Overall, I had a great experience at Almost Famous. My brother and I went to the Almost Famous Brewery tonight. The inside is spacious, there were a lot of people, and still a nice amount of available seating. There were string lights hanging around the whole space. They had a band playing, all kinds of familiar songs. People were dancing and having a good time! On their tap list there was a substantial amount of sours, which is typically my favorite. I got Unfair Warning, this is a pineapple sour. I also got Free For All, this is also a sour. Then the bartender told me I can pick a flavor from the huge list of flavors for this beer. I have never seen a brewery do something like this before. My brother told me to surprise him. I got him the Chocolate Fudge. The bartender also told me if I don't like it, they'll give me a different one. I thought the Chocolate Fudge was delicious, you could still taste the tartness from the base of the sour. Then the Chocolate Fudge was all there. Well, my brother hated it. He loved my Unfair Warning. The pineapple flavor was very minimal. We had a fun time, the musicians truly set the mood! read more

"So mama please don't worry about me, I'm nearly famous now" (Cliff Richard) The avalanche of new breweries continues to pick up momentum across Connecticut, and today we paid a visit to one of the newer ones -Almost Famous in East Granby. Its spacious taproom has some interesting décor features, like its bar and tabletops made from salvaged bowling alley lanes and light fixtures made from old industrial piping and gears. When you walk in, you'll notice a sea of huge beer tanks, so you know this is a working brewery. Their made-on-site beer selection is pretty impressive, in both quantity and styles. I saw at lest nine choices with Sour, IPA, DIPA, Pilsner, Cream Stout, and NEIPA all represented today. I don't care for IPAs or Sours, so I had a glass of the Anything's Impossible, an American Pilsner with an IBU count of 31 and an ABV of  6.1. It had a bit of a stronger taste than I anticipated, so maybe I should have tried their Rewind, an American Amber? A food truck from the Taco Shack was on site today, and according to the Almost Famous website, they scheduled 17 food truck visits in April alone. That's pretty impressive, Almost Famous is a nice addition to the local brewery scene. read more

A very unique brewery. Any flavor of sour imaginable is there. If you're into sours, which I am. And the flavors are dead on. Very impressive with the taste and flavor. Any beer on the menu will deliver on taste and flavor. The Session is a can't lose. So much taste and flavor for a light Session. Cool and very friendly bartenders. Your new favorite people. Met the owner too the first time there!!! Great guy! The vibe is very welcoming and friendly. There is also an "anyone welcome" theme of live music- meaning if you have music to share right then and there, go right ahead!! Music themed places are a plus. There's cool local music based art on the wall, and the bar counter tops are made of old bowling ball lanes from nearby which is really cool!!! The beer here isn't world class but they do have some solid offerings. About average on the ones we tried which were IPAs and Sours. The staff was attentive, the location is in an industrial complex but they've done a nice job of making the most of their space. It's clean, welcoming and a solid working brewery. Avoid the seltzers, not good. For a review of each beer, "Untapped" seemed pretty accurate in regards to our tastes. The food truck was Lobster Tails and it was delicious, quick and efficient. Overall not a bad way to spend a weekend afternoon. read more

I'm pretty sure this brewery is relatively new, but I wouldn't have gotten that impression walking in. There were definitely regulars there and it was by no means empty. Square Peg pizza truck was outside, which is a great local pizza truck, which means you also know they get the foot traffic to warrant coming there. The brewery is super family friendly. Large space, lots of games to play, including giant Jenga, Connect 4, pinball, and hula hoops. My only gripe is the beer that we had the day we went left something to be desired. It was by NO MEANS bad, but it also wasn't the best of the options local to me. The mango milkshake IPA, session IPA, and hefeweizen stood out for us as our favorites. They also have unflavored hard seltzer they add different flavored syrups to if that's your jam. read more

Ok so the owners are genuinely good dudes and love talking beer,shop, and food! We came for the make a pizza and sample beer night worth every penny. Not only was the flight preselection a nice hit, but it all paired pretty well with the pizza brought to us by Square Peg pizza of Glastonbury CT. If you haven't tried this place, then you're missing out. The really nailed the sour ipa and the Hefeweizen, they also have many choices for all palates, and if you aren't sure you can ask Koda she is the beer mascot and definitely has something to say about beer! I was surprised as to how much I enjoyed the half sour ipa, and I think you'll like it too! We will see you all real soon, now that we know you're here, and bringing your A game!!! Craft brewing has come to East Granby! Officially opening next week but off to a great soft start! Up to 16 beers on tap, made locally! So many great varieties! Ironically my favorite was named "A Celebration of Mediocrity" which was a double IPA! This is a great place for an outing with a large group or company. The set up of the brewery was great. Loved how they care about their community and showcase local bands and artists. Beer selection was just what I would expect from a local brewery. They had a porter- excellent the flavors for the stout didn't over power which made it a winner for me! They have IPA's, an Ale and Amber. Something for all. The band Cold Shot- wow. Owner is attentive and a really awesome person ! There is a good variety of beer and after sampling quite a few of them they all were very tasty and I would gladly drink them again. The brewery is quite big with lots of space , live music and games for people to play etc. It's a little bit of a drive for me but I would gladly make the trip again to have some brews here. Can't judge a book by its cover. From the outside I was not expecting much. Afbc is located in an industrial park in what looks like an office building. Upon entering g however, the brewery is actually very spacious and has a relaxing vibe. Their ipas were ok but where they really shine is their sours. We held a family event at AFB in November. My 84 year old father was kind enough to pay the bill but upon reviewing the bill more closely, we realized that 20% gratuity was added to the room rental charge AND all of the taxes which is incorrect and excessive. That nearly doubled the amount billed for gratuity. Since this is a self-serve place, a majority of our guests that went up to get drinks tipped at the bar so they were tipped very well. I have contacted the Owner multiple times requesting a refund for the over billing and only heard back once stating he would get back to me and never did. After 2 more emails to make this issue right, and not hearing back from them, I felt the need to let others know that they are probably being billed the same way and to be aware of this. read more
